A Journey to Remember (Decisions to make)
The windows in my room rattled as I slammed my door. Another fight with my parents, it had become a common occurrence though and I was used to it now. Everyday after I got home from school it was the same damn thing "how are your grades in your classes" they would demand. I never was the smartest cookie and therefore they never liked my answer. So they would pull out the story of how everyone in my family was successful and that I was shaming the family. By the way, my name is Ruto and I'm a 16 year old sophomore. Just to give you an image of what I look like, I have black and blue hair, gray eyes, and pale skin, but back to the story. It didn't really matter though what they thought of me because I honestly didn't care. I didn't really care about anything these days. I would go to school and draw most of the time. I just didn't care anymore. I grabbed my computer off the desk in my room and crawled onto my bed, happy to finally be in the sanctity of my room. I opened up my computer and got online right away. I blew off some steam for a while by listening to music by Apocalyptica and Hollywood Undead until my dad barged into my room and took my computer. "You're a waste of genes, you know that?" I clenched my fists and gritted my teeth. "You should've thought about that before you decided to have me" I said back "now give that back". He looked at me with a smug look before he said, "you should talk better to the one who feeds you. If you want dinner tonight you had better apologize." I couldn't hold back any longer. "And you should go to hell!' I screamed without thinking. He then became furious. He grabbed me by the throat and punched me once in the gut, knocking the wind out of me. I grabbed the mag-light that I keep in case of power outages and swung the heavy metal flashlight at my attacker. I heard a sickening crunch as it made contact with his left shoulder. I fell to the floor as he dropped to one knee in pain. Of course my dad was an idiot and rose up to strike again only to meet another blow to the knee cap which had to have shattered his knee. He screamed in pain and fell over. "Get out of my house now." He said in a threatening tone. I just grabbed my backpack and started stuffing items of importance into it: phone, laptop, clothes, snacks, and my sketch book. I grabbed my car keys and headed to my car, a little glad to escape the hell hole where I live...er lived.
I drove to the nearest Wi-Fi café I could find and went inside. I sat down at a table and opened my laptop to get online and chat with my online friend Sade. Even though I had never seen his real face, we were good friends and I figured if anybody knew what to do it would be him.
Ruto: hey man wats up
Sade: nm wbu
Ruto: got into another fight with my dad
Sade: bummer wat did u do
Ruto: beat him with a maglight
Sade: damn! Bet that felt good
Ruto: lol u bet. Guess ill be stayn at a motel 2night
He didn't respond.
Ruto: hey u ther
There was still no response and I was about to log out when his icon popped up again
Sade: meet me in the abandoned house to the north of town.now
Ruto: huh??
I waited and waited for a response but the screen stayed blank, so I finally logged out just in time for the waitress hand me my coffee. Thoughts whizzed through my head as I sipped the hot coffee. Mostly whether I should go or not. I had a lot of decisions to make
