"Have a good day."
"Yea I will, I guess."I replied not really feeling up to going today. Although my dad meant well I didn't have very high hopes. But I still walked out the front door and started the short two block walk to the high school. At least I only had half days due to my special ed agreement.
I walked and popped out my phone and took out some earbuds and put them in my ears. I scrolled through my playlist of songs and soon chose a song. Of course this is what made me happier and more exited through the day. Music was a wondrous thing,and it was no exception for me.
But soon I came to the front doors of the local high school and I sighed opening the front doors."Bagels only one dollar!" a student called to me as I entered the front building."No thanks"I replied as politely as possible as not to discourage her. Even though I had more than enough money on me I didn't feel like a bagel.
I walked into the commons and instantly made my way towards the back to the cafeteria where my friends where,well kinda friends. As soon as my friend spotted me he waved to me. He was using his school laptop on one of the tables. I just sat down across from him and waited for the inevitable conversation that rarely held my interest.
"Dude I just made a character that can make a crater the size of the moon."HE said as I suddenly lost interest in the conversation as I had no idea how to respond or talk to him. He was in to making characters in his free time and he wrote a lot,as he was into fanfiction. I casually drowned out his words with the music playing in my phone.
Luckily it wasn't long and after several 'yeas' and 'OKs' later the bell rang and I was off to my English class. I had already done all the work needed right now so I just settled into a seat and waited for the bell to ring again. Once it had I was quick to get up and walk towards the teachers desk.
"May I go to the library to check out a book?"I quickly asked
The teacher looked up and then asked"Is all your work done?"He asked
"Yea"I responded
"All right,here is a pass."He said before writing out a small pass on a yellow post it note I was quick to take it and get out of the classroom. I entered the halls and looked around,no one was currently in them. I decided to go to the bathroom real quick before I went to the library,so I headed to the nearest bathroom.
After going to the bathroom I washed my hands and dried them,luckily no one was in the restroom with me so I felt that much better. I scanned myself in the mirror to make sure I hadn't been making a fool of myself with my clothes or anything. But I just saw the regular black hair and brown eyes on a rounded face complete with a black shirt,blue pants and sandals. I was good,for now.
I exited the bathroom and headed towards the library,already having spent five minutes in the bathroom. Once in the library I took my backpack that I was wearing and passed the metal detector like things near the entrance. They didn't go off but I was worried they would as I was every time I entered the library.
I got my last used book out of my backpack and returned it into the book return. Then I spent the next couple of minutes getting on to a computer to look for a book in the catalog,but first I chose a rather far away computer from the others in the library choosing this time to be more alone. I logged on and went to my email before I chose to look at the catalog.
Of course there was only updates from the social website I had signed up to years ago,and some game updates for my computer games at home. So I refreshed the page to see if anything had come in. I was in luck,a new email popped up,but it only appeared to be spam,so instantly my hopes went down. But I still opened it. I was surprised to find it wasn't spam instead it was a message.
Dear Blake
I have hopped to find you for a while now as I have been searching for you,although it was quite hard to find you. But when you get home I have a proposition for you. Yes I know you are at school right now,but I need you to listen carefully so I may meet you. In several seconds your phone will vibrate,only you will hear it and no one else will notice. Answer it.

I looked at the message and read it over again,but then I just guessed it was some sort of joke. But then my phone vibrated. At first I didn't know what to do,so I ignored it. But then it vibrated again and I looked around hopping no one had heard,no one did. I pulled out my phone from my pocket and opened it. Surely enough there was a unknown caller. I made sure no one was looking and answered it.
"Listen carefully I wont force you to do anything,but I wish to meet you it is not of great importance,but I believe you may be able to help me,I will ask once and once only will you help?"The voice on the other line said
I stuttered for a minute,but then I managed to speak "I...guess?"I replied.
"Good now your father is not at home right now,but I want you to get home so I may meet you there,i know this all sounds suspicious but you have to trust me,all will be revealed when we meet,and im sure you have a lot of questions."Then the phone went dead.
I pulled the phone from my ear and looked around again to see if anyone was watching,but no one was. I looked down at the phone and noticed the battery had gone dead. If this was some sort of prank,i kinda felt it would be better than staying here. So I gathered my things and exited the library to head to the attendance office.
When I got there I told the woman there that I was feeling sick and that I wished to call my father for his approval to go home. She pointed towards the phone and told me to make my call. After a quick conversation with my dad saying I wasn't feeling good and wished to go home. After I got him to accept I put him on speaker so that the attendance lady could hear that he confirmed I could go home.
I was quickly given an off campus pass and I went on my way. Ont he walk home I started thinking,even though this was most likely someone who could harm me,or it was a prank,or something I still felt more towards going home than staying at school. Maybe it was I just didn't like school. But I pressed on towards home.
When I finally made it the two blocks to my home I entered through the front door,and looked around. There was no one there. I checked every room but no one was there. I just sighed defeated that I had fallen for a small prank. So I decided to use my computer in my room.
I felt like an idiot,and I didn't think that much would help me. So I decided to play a small game of solitaire on my computer to help pass the time. So I went to the start button before realizing I had an update for my computer. Since I was bored and didn't want to deal with it later,i pressed the restart now button on the update screen so that the update would start.
I waited as the screen went black before booting up again. But I was surprised to not see the familiar logo of the computer brand I had. Instead it was replaced by a small emoticon like face that seemed to be in a smile.
I looked at it for a second and then decided I probably did something wrong like hit a button or something. But I was then shocked when the figure disappeared and was replaced by a small line of text.
'Hello Blake.' it said
By now I was really creeped out and almost decided to push the power button,but I was soon swayed otherwise when the screen went black again and reappeared with more text.
'Don't' it said
So I didn't then the screen went blank again and reappeared with even more text.
'I want you to look in your drawer Blake.'it said
I was puzzled at this,but decided to go along with it. So I got up and headed over to the dresser and opened the first drawer. At first it just seemed filled with all the useless junk I had put into it,but at a second glance I saw something out of place.
It wasn't that noticeable despite its color,which was gold painted. But it was there no bigger than the palm of my hand. At first I was interested,and slowly picked it up and turned it over,but it had no brand name or anything,no serial number,just a small device with a blank screen and a few buttons. As I looked the device over I went back to my computer to find it had more text on the screen.
'Insert the end into your computer.' it said
I looked at the device and found it had a small connector on the bottom,By now I was kinda nervous and didn't know if I should actually put it in without better judgment of what this thing was. But I stupidly did it anyways following the orders of the computer. Nothing happened.
The screen went blank and didn't reappear with any more text. Instead the small screen on the device started to glow and just as fast as it as there it was gone. Then the screen reappeared with its normal logo and normal start up phase. I unplugged the device and looked it over to see if anything had happened.
Then a small speaker on the device spoke up.
"Good,now I want you to press the middle button on the digivice and set me free,i want to finally meet you in person."Said a rather masculine voice that was deep.
I was actually surprised when it started speaking that I almost dropped the device,when I looked around for the source of the noise before finding the small speaker. Something was motioning for me to press that button and the voice did say to press it. So, I did just that.
There was a bright flash of light and then when it disappeared I saw something I thought to only be in a child's show. There in front of me was a well muscled taller than me real life flamedramon. I caught myself staring,and soon turned my face to shock. He was complete with armor that was gold plated with silver fire emblems on it. He was real.
I stared at him and he looked back at me. Then he raised his hand and I almost expected him to hit me or something,but instead he moved his hand forward after taking off the gauntlet on his hand and offered it to me.
"You know its not polite to stare."He said
I just stared at him and his outstretched hand. And he just smiled. When I finally got over my shock I finally managed to say something.
"What are you?!"I almost yelled even though I knew the answer to that question already.
"Isn't it obvious im a flamedramon,a digimon,you know like in the cartoon."He said smiling.
I stared at him again,but soon my curiosity got the better of me and I reached out my hand to take his. His grip was strong but not harmful as he shook it.
"There that wasn't so bad now was it?"He said
I shook my head before it finally burst out of me.
"How can you be real?! How is this happening?! How is this possible?! HOW..."I said before he clamped his hand over my mouth and stopped me from speaking.
"Ill answer those later but for now I just wanted to meet my partner,we'll be doing a lot you know,and now is not the time for questioning."
He removed his hand.
"But how...?"I asked
"I am very much real,but ill explain that later. For now im hungry could I get something to eat?"He said.
I had a puzzled look on my face,suddenly this digimon appears and hes asking for food. I stuttered quickly and then regained my pose. "Um yea uhh this way."I said exiting the room.
I led him to the kitchen and began searching far any foods in the fridge. I didn't know what he would want.
"Umm what do you want?"I asked
Flamedramon just looked at me and pushed past me to look into the fridge. HE scanned the shelves and soon just settled on some processed meat. He took out the bag of meat and looked around again,this time on the counters. Eventually he found some bread,and with that bread he made himself a sandwich. After that he just looked at me and sat down at the table that was just across the kitchen.
I hesitantly sat across from him and watched him eat. He quickly devoured the sandwich and once he was done I thought that was the best time to ask.
"Where did..."
"I come from?"he said finishing my sentence"I'm from a world you may know as the digital world,its very much real,but I will say this. Not in this universe though."
"Not in this universe,isn't the digital world located in like computers or sometimes cant remember it was a long time ago that I watched the show,wouldn't that be in this universe?"
"No."He replied
"Then where do you come from?"
"I come from an alternate universe from yours,from an alternate world from the human world there."He said
"You sound pretty calm about telling me this,what makes you so sure I wouldn't run away and report you to the nearest police officer? And an alternate Universe,you know how crazy that sounds? Well then again I am talking to a digimon."I said
"Well that's because your my partner,i have to trust you,and you should trust me,because we are bonded for life and you aren't getting rid of me."He said matter of factly
I just stared at him."What am I supposed to tell everyone? Huh? A giant fucking lizard appeared one day and im bonded to him for life? I cant tell them that and show you,they will go crazy or something."
"Who said you have to reveal me to them?"He asked
"Well how am I supposed to hide you?"I asked back
"Well I can store myself in the digivice,that you happened to leave in the other room,Which comes to a new rule,keep it on you at all times."Flamedramon said
"You're making rules for me now?!"I almost yelled
"No im just saying it would be wise."he replied
"But you said..."
"Does it matter?"he said
I stayed silent. I shook my head and sighed before getting up and walking back to my room to retrieve my digivice. When I found it it was glowing a soft color,but I still picked it up and returned back to Flamedramon.
"So now what?"I asked to him
"I don't know,what do you want to do?"He replied
I stared at him again."umm well we have time to kill ummm...."
"Why don't we get to know each other more."He suggested
"umm ok..."I said"Umm im Blake."
"I already know that,and im flamedramon,so there we know each others name why don't we talk about history?"
"Umm ok well I was born here in Oregon,in a city not to far from here. I like music,video games,and other stuff,umm what about you?"
"I don't know,i like the outdoors,and practicing my abilities ,i was just pared with an awestruck kid who is probably out of him mind right now and I like sometimes reading."he replied
I looked at him,he was looking back at me with a serious expression.
"Umm what do I do when my dad gets home and my brother?"
"Ill just hide in the digivice no problems no questions asked."
I looked away."Umm I think im going to take a nap I need to clear my head."I said before walking back to my room,with,unfortunately,flamedramon following. Once in my room I sat down on my bed and moved up it to lie down. I pulled the covers up on top of me and waited.
Flamedramon just watched me and eventually sat down on the bed away from me. It would be a while before I got to sleep,but eventually,even with the giant digital creature watching I fell to the black abyss of sleep.
When I awoke I felt a presence behind me,i was currently on my side. I turned over and was immediately in the face of Flamedramon,who was currently lying down on my bed with me. I yelled and moved away startled by his sudden intrusion. Eventually I found a footing and got to a sitting position. Flamedramon had also got into a sitting position.
"What the hell?! Why are you sleeping with me?!"I yelled
"I like you."He replied
"What?! I mean what?! You don't just sleep with someone you just met."I yelled out.
"Well I like you."he said again
I calmed down and took a couple of breaths,when I finally calmed down enough I stopped and looked at him. He was no longer wearing his armor,in fact he was naked.,luckily I couldn't see anything.
"Your being really blunt about it."I said
"Well its true,ive been studying you for a year now,i know what you like,dislike,your personality and your dream and I want to be with you."He said
I felt a little disgusted but another part of me felt happy for some reason. Was it because I liked him too even though I just met him?
"Well we can talk about it later im going back to sleep,i need rest and be on the lookout so that my family doesn't find you."I said knowing I was putting off everything he had just said,and ignoring it. I lied back down and tried to go to sleep. But soon I felt him wrap his arms around my waist. I felt really uncomfortable but I let it slide. Soon falling back to sleep.
When I awoke again I didn't feel anyone's presence behind me. I turned around and Flamedramon wasn't there. I looked around knowing it hadn't all been a dream. I gto up out of bed and looked around again scanning the room in case I missed anything. But I didn't miss anything. Then I remembered the digivice.
I looked around and then remembered it was in my pocket. I reached for it and instantly grabbed the small device only now remembering I had put it in my pocket. It was still glowing a soft color but this time the screen wasn't blank. Instead it held a small video of Flamedramon sleeping in a black abyss filled with what looked like computer coding. He was dressed fully in his armor this time.
I looked at the screen a few seconds and then I decided to try and press a button. Obviously the buttons had no labels,so I chose one at random and pressed it. Instantly the screen glowed again and a few seconds later flamedramon woke up. He was still in the digivice though.
"Hey whats up?"He asked looking at me through the screen.
"Umm why are you in the digivice?"I asked back
"I heard your dad come home I didn't want to be caught so I hid luckily he hasn't entered the room yet he's left you alone from the looks of it."He replied
I nodded and lowered the device before looking around again. I stood and put the device back in my pocket. I opened the door slowly and looked across the hall towards my dads room. The door was open but I could see him sitting in his chair playing a video game. I fully opened the door and walked towards him.
"Whats up?"He asked
"Nothing." I replied
"Well if there's anything wrong you can tell me,im your dad you know so if anythings bugging you im your guy."My dad said
I nodded and left the room. Apparently he hadn't seen flamedramon or heard me talking to him. So I was safe. I went back into my room. I pulled out the digivice as soon as I closed the door and watched flamedramon looking back at me.
"So?"He asked
"Nothing just making sure,ummm what do we do now?"I asked
"Well I don't know,as I see it im stuck in here unless you actually want to tell your family,but im assuming that you don't want to."He said
"Well im thinking about it,but I barley met you myself what would I say,besides that's not why im talking to you."I looked up and looked around."How am I supposed to keep you a secret,adn don't you have needs like eating,and going to the bathroom?"I asked
"Well yea but I thought you thought of that already."He said
"Of course I didn't I just met you."I sighed"Look why don't we......I don't know but now its going to eat away at me telling an elaborate lie."I said
Flamedramon just looked at me with a sorrowful expression on his face. I sighed again."look this is going to be hard and I think even though its sudden and stupid that I should tell them about you,because that's the only way I see about getting you the things you need."I said
"Are you sure?"flamedramon asked
"Positive."I said back
"Then I trust you and ill play my part,its stupid but I will lets hope it all goes well,but what about your mom or brother?"He asked
"Same thing we just have to explain it to them and hope they don't freak out."
"Ok then well let me get out of this digivice and ill help you."flamedramon said
the digivice started glowing and I faced it away from me towards a nice open space. Then it uickly happened flamedramon just appeared in a faded outline that was filled with coding,as he slowly manifested himself as a full being instead of the code. Once the process was done he stretched a little and adjusted his gauntlets.
"Ready?"I asked
"Ready"he replied
"Ok lets take take this slow and reveal it to him gradually,if I explain it should keep him from freaking out,we just have to explain."
"Blake....what is that?!"I heard my dads voice say
"Shit."I said turning around and staring my dad full in the face."Oh hey dad,well as you can see there is a giant lizard in the house,and...well hes a friend,hes very much real,and....well he wont hurt you. Hes a digimon,a digital monster,you know kinda like a Pokemon,but much different."
My dad just stared. Flamedramon stared back. It was flamedramon who broke the silence."Hi."He said calmly
My dad looked like he was seeing the devil himself,and he slowly inched forward to the taller lizard,and slowly put his hand on flamedramons arm. I had never seen my dad act this way. When he touched flamedramon he flinched back. Then he stared at me. The he fainted.
"Shit."I said as he hit the floor flamedramon just stared.
"That went well."Flamedramon said
"Help me get him out of here and into the living room"i said grabbing his shoulders. Flamedramon grabbed his legs and lifted him up,him being much stronger than me. We carried him out the open door down the hall and into the living room where we placed him on the couch.
"What now?"Flamedramon asked
"For fuck sake,i don't know,how am im supposed to explain this now!"I almost yelled
"Calm down,we just wait till he wakes up and then explain slowly,simple really."He said
I shook my head."I don't want to risk it I think you should get back into the digivice,and let me mend this wound."I said
"Fine,but I do need to get out every once in a while."He said before returning to my room. I sighed,"how am i supposed to figure this out now?"I asked myself. Just then my dad woke up,he looked around dazed. He seemed to have woken up quicker than I really expected.
"Dad?"I asked
He turned to me and his face turned serious."What happened?"He asked
"You where about to walk into my room and I slammed the uhhh door into your face."It wasn't very convincing since the door was one way and happened to be opened into my room,plus how had I carried him to the couch was another thing I would have to explain.
"How did I get to the couch?"He asked just then
"I dragged you."I said lieing between my teeth,even though it was a half lie.
"Oh well I thought I saw something it was big and blue with gold outlines,i don't know maybe I was just dreaming,i need some ibuprofen to get my headache away,and a cold beer."He said looking around
"Ok."I responded
He slowly got up and stood me backing away from him as he looked around. He slowly started moving with wobbly feet but soon caught his balance and started towards the kitchen,where he opened the cupboard and got out a small thing of pills.
"Im going to go back to my room. OK?"I asked
"yea ill just be out here,if you need anything just tell me,i love you."He said
I returned to my room while slowly looking back at him,he seemed to be Ok and he also seemed to have bought it. Once in my room I looked around for the digivice which I quickly found. As I picked it up the screen came to life showing a view of flamedramon who was just standing there waiting for me.
"Took you long enough."He said almost instantly
"I think my dad bought my lies but im not so sure,we have to keep you hidden for now,do you need anything?"I wispered
"No not right now,but I would much rather not be in here."
"Well I cant do anything if anyone sees you they will freak out. Besides it cant be too bad ill find a way to get you out of there soon so you can wander."
flamedramon just grunted and sat down in the void,eventually turning away from me and falling asleep. I sighed,not only did I just gain a new friend,but he made my dad pass out,slept with me and I didn't have any choices on how to get him out without anyone seeing.
This was too much,and I knew it. I had no idea on any places to go to let him out without anyone seeing. And that was a big problem,as he did need to eat at one point. I sat down on my bed and began thinking on ways to let him out. But like anything else I couldn't come up with a solution right then. Eventually I gave up right then.
I decided I should keep the digivice close as to not let anyone else know about flamedramon. I put the digivice in my pocket with my cell phone. Other than that I had no idea what to do,so I did what flamedramon did and lied down and slept.
When I awoke again I felt better,i looked out the window and realized it was nighttime I had really slept that long. I pulled the digivice out and saw flamedramon sitting there.
"About time you woke up I was getting bored sitting here,can I come out now?"he asked
I shook my head and went to the door of my room. I slowly looked out into the hallway and saw that the house was dark. That means that everyone was asleep,which was odd as I assumed my dad would have woken me for dinner and I had slept for more than ten hours. I closed the door silently and looked back at the digivice.
"I think its OK for you to come out now."I wispered
Flamedramon nodded and I pointed the digivice away from me,after the initial phase of him materializing in front of me,he stood there and looked at me.
"Wheres the bathroom?"HE asked
"Uhh across the hall,just don't wake anyone."i said in a hushed voice"And keep your voice down"
Flamedramon just nodded and exited the room. When he came back after a few minutes I was sitting on my bed. He sat down next to me.
"So what do we do now?"He asked
before I could speak,i heard something break,mainly something that was glass,outside. I looked away from flamedramon,and towards the door. Then I got up and slowly inched towards the door. I opened it and looked around. I couldn't see anything in the dark. I slowly made my way to the light switch at the end of the hall.
As I flipped it on I instantly saw the figure of a large man clothed in black,with body armor and a pistol holstered at his side. Before I could yell out he rushed forward and clamped his hand over my mouth turning my shouts into muffled cries. I tried struggling but he got a grip on me and was holding me tightly.
As he did this flamdramon walked out of the room and faced us. But before he could do anything another man who I hadn't noticed before who was right next to the door instantly bashed flamedramon on the back of the head,effectively knocking him out. Before I could do anything though,i felt something hit me and my vision flashed to darkness. There was one last thing I heard. "OK guys target acquired over."
