Dark Moonlight - 1 {WIP}
#2 of Dark Moonlight
I sighed as woke up early the next morning. I helps up my right paw and snapped my fingers. A dark flame appeared just above the palm of my hand. I closed my paw into a fist and snuffed the fire out. I've had these powers for years now, and just about everyone I met knew that. I remember how I got them.
I was just a little kid, naive and influential. I used to play a lot off video games that involved some type of use of magic. One day, I got curious one day and found an old grimoire in a bookstore. The owner said I coulit take it, free of charge. I asked him why and he simply told that no one had even wanted the book. Later that day, I sat in my room with no source of light except for the moonlight. I read a spell from the book and was trying to commit it to memory . I was trying so hard that I hadn't even noticed the dark purple flame burning brightly on my right paw. I noticed it from the corner of my eye and my eyes widened when I finally did see. I remember Knut sitting there, staring at my burning paw, completely fascinated. Ever since that night, I would open the grimoire and study different spells. But too long after that, mmight her caught me practicing and forcetime to stop. I hadn't even looked at the book until the very day I had moved out. Time from time, I would retrieve my book from its place in my dresser and study a simple spell or two. Everyone who came to the beach would hear rumors about my powers, and a few people would ask me if they were true. I'd tell them the truth, but to my surprise, they don't run away screaming like I was the plague, instead, they would stay and ask me questions about my powers or just me in general. One person had even easier me if was registered in the Arcane Society. I hadn't even heard of them until then. Apparently they regulate the magic use and make sure that any mages aren't causing any problems. And if you're wondering, no I'm not registered with the Society. I only use magic if I have to, or just to practice. I wasn't some mad scientist bent on world domination, so I honestly didn't see what the problem was.
A few minutes later if just laying in bed, there was a knock at the door. I pulled on a pair of pants and a shirt before getting up answer it, not bothering to do anything else.
I opened my door to see a white snow leopard with short brown hair and green eyes, although I just barely see them through his sunglasses. He was dressed in a black suit, which meant he was here on business.
"Who are you?" I asked, a faint expression of confusion on my face.
"I'm Ian Matthews, from the Arcane Society. I was wondering if I could have a moment of your time."
"Sure. Please come inside."
He did as I said sand sat down on the couch while I sat on the recliner to his left.
"Now I can tell that wondering why I'm here," he said as he took off his glasses, a ringing his eyes into view. I replied with a nod, "Well, just yesterday, I received a report saying that there was an unregistered Mage living on the beach. There's a law against that you know?"
"No, I was never told that."
He nodded, "Well, you would have to register yourself to avoid anymore problems."
