Ocean Depths

Chapter 33

By Roofles

The young otter walked down the hall, feeling the carpet between his web toes. He was nervous as he lifted his hands up, stopping in front of his fathers and Lucas's room. Now that the man had moved in the two seemed to be inseparable, not as if they weren't before already. And this young otter was seeking the man and not the otter right now. Alone.

He knocked on the door, his ears folding back at the sound inside. A sour expression passed over his otherwise bored face.

"Shit!" Lucas said from the other side of the door. "Where are my pants?"

"Arrr me hearty, I keel hauled them out the window!" Carlson growled back making Justin groan to himself. Not another one of their rope play sessions.

"Carlson!" Lucas shot back from across the room.

"It's unlocked, Hun." Carlson said cupping a paw around the end of his short muzzle to amplify his voice in the already small room, paper thin walled apartment.

Justin rolled his eyes and twisted the door shaking his head as he saw a pair of legs slip underneath the blankets to join the shivering lump inside.

The teenager frowned looking at the male otter lazing back on the bed with the blankets just covering a leg and his groin. The larger scruffy brown otter was wearing a swashbuckler outfit, eye patch and all. Carlson even had a toy curved pirate sword at his side. "Arr! If it isn't the fruit of me own loins come to join our merry band of ruffians!"

"Right..." Justin said already ignoring his father who had lifted up the eye to get a better look at him. "Not about to say just how many things are wrong with what you just said... Lucas," he said now focusing on the shivering mound still underneath the covers, hidden away from the young teen's eyes.

"Yes?" The form underneath the blankets said.

"I was wondering if I could talk to you alone for a second. And then you can go avast my dad's sails." He added rolling his eyes.

"Sure. Just give me a sec." Lucas mumbling trying to ignore Carlson's hind paw rubbing the side of his face affectionately. The spongy hind paw pads were slightly coarse scratching the man's cheek as Carlson's webbed toes patted it.

"You can just ask him here." Carlson said now wiggling his toes on the side of Lucas's face. He beeped the man's nose between his toes and got a growl from underneath the covers.

"Is it about your dad's B-day party?" Lucas asked fighting the leg and failing horribly as it pinned him to the bed.

"Sure." Justin said in a droll tone. "Let's go with that."

"I thought you two already had worked everything out." Carlson inquired scratching his chin fuzz. The otter shifted as Lucas wrestled with his slightly shorter than average leg. "But ok." He said planting his paw on Lucas's face and just stepping on him now.

Lucas shoved it to the side and began blindly searching outside the covers for something to wear. He grabbed one of the spare eye patches and frowned. Just because the larger otter, who was still trying to step on him, had worn one of these over his groin didn't mean Lucas was about too.

"Ok well...hurry up." Justin frowned mainly annoyed by his dad more so than anything else. The teen turned away and walked out the door muttering under his breath "freak" knowing that it was, and always had been, his dad's idea for their kinky role plays.

Lucas only managed to get a decent pair of clothing when Justin shut the door behind him. Lucas searched the floor, waste bin and the drawers before stopping. "Carlson." He said the otters name making the larger, longer male pull back a bit. "What are these?" The man asked this as he withdrew the several color full thongs.

"My feesh hammocks?" The otter asked with a sheepish grin his round beady ears perking up. "You can borrow one. Or all of them. You can sleep with 'em." Carlson went on offering it to him as if they were some kind of blanket. "They are all slightly used." The otter continued making Lucas put them back in the drawer.

"Why do you have old, used banana hammocks in your drawer?"

"Our drawer." Carlson corrected.

"Right..." Lucas frowned waiting for an answer.

"Well I wear everything we own. Make sure it smells nice and good for ya'." Carlson smiled as he answered with a loud thump of his rudder, anchor like tail.

"Everything?" Lucas groaned covering his face. "I mean...isn't that a bit...dominant? Possessive?" Lucas asked already knowing the otter's strange quirks. Most of them anyways.

"Well duh." Carlson rolled his eyes, his voice a bit annoyed by the question. "I mean come on. Me tea bagging you after you shower, the whole rubbing your clothes on my groin."

"Wait what?" Lucas asked.

"Oh! When I pet your face with my hand? I rubbed myself off beforehand." Carlson counted using his fingers one by one as he named them off.

"I'm...going to go see what Justin wanted." Lucas mumbled a bit already knowing and yet not wanting to believe his own paranoia.

"Have fun." Carlson waved at him turning towards the TV. He switched it on with his other hand and began watching some strange show Lucas could never fully wrap his head around. It was croc hunters...crocodile's hunting crocodiles. Lucas thought it was rather morbid.

Lucas closed the door behind him adjusting the swashbuckler pants he had on, that Carlson was "oh so kind" to lend him, before heading down the hall. He tried not to look at the pictures on the walls. Of him and a larger otter with a younger otter in every other photo. On the beach, the movies, down town next to one of the hipster statues they had built...

It was strange. To have this life. A family like this. Something he had never fully known.

"Hey bud." Lucas said a bit more softly than he ever really meant too. Whenever he talked to the younger otter he felt as if he were talking to a child though. In comparison with his dad Justin was a bit on the short side. Then again the younger otter was far more mature than the older one. Thankfully Justin never seemed to mind much or never commented on it. "Sup?" Lucas added afterwards trying to seem more casual.

"I was wondering." Justin stopped and looked passed him down the hall to make sure they didn't have an eaves dropper. "Was wondering," he repeated. He looked up at the man from the table. "If you could help me with something."

"Sure bud," Lucas said taking a seat and looking crossed at the whiskery muzzled teen.

"Well see...there's this girl I sort of like. In class. And she just doesn't really notice me is all. And well..." Justin coughed a bit looking away and it was the first time Lucas had ever seen him blush before. The inside of the round beady ears turned pink as they fell back.

Lucas smiled though he chuckled softly. "Why don't you ask your dad? I'm sure he'd know about this more than me. I mean when I was your age I was doing a coug...I mean not interested in girls." Lucas coughed quickly correcting himself.

"Well I know but its dad." Justin frowned now looking at his blunt claws. He tapped the table with them as if playing a piano. "He'd just make things worse."

"You should give him a chance. I mean he is your father." Lucas felt odd telling him that but it was the truth of the matter. "He'd be good at this. Really."

"Well..." Justin scrunched up his brow. "Ok well maybe another time. I was wondering." The otter sat back upright, an otherwise bored expression on his face and he was back to the old angsty teen Lucas knew and loved. "We got this sports game coming up."

Lucas just smiled and nod trying to rack his mind as to what the hell he was talking about.

"The coach is out sick. Well he's going through court actually but anyways," Justin said not even seeming to mind that his coach had been arrested. "We need a new one for our team until he gets back. Or if he does." The otter just shrugged. "And the guys were asking me to ask you to fill in."

Lucas wasn't sure why they would ask him to let alone how they even knew of him. He hadn't been to any of his games, due to Justin not telling either of them, and now he was nominated to be a coach?

"Why don't you ask your dad?"

"He wouldn't want to unless you did it too." Justin frowned. Lucas knew he was right but wasn't about to say anything.

"What about your friend...Jody? Doesn't he-,"

"She." Justin corrected.

"Have a dad or older brother?"

"Prison and dead." Justin replied as flatly as ever.

"What about Dale?"

"Dad's a drunk. No siblings." The otter looked away mournfully. "If you don't want to go to my game..." The otter just grinned however as Lucas gave into the guilt.

"Well ok, ok I never said I didn't. I just don't really know where to begin in the matter."

"Oh you'll figure it out." Justin said standing up and heading off towards his room. "Going to tell the guys." He said answering the unasked question as he pulled out his phone and began sending text after text faster than Lucas had ever seen anyone, his age, text before.

"Well...I suppose Owen was asking me to buy a referee outfit." Lucas mumbled to himself thinking it over.
