Here is my story. I hope you guys like it.
Prologue
In a valley set at the center of the single land mass of Pangaea lived these creatures called Dragons, and this place was surrounded by many mountains with one big volcano at the northern end of this fifty dragon mile long and thirty dragon mile wide land. In this valley, a river runs through the center to a crystal clear lake at the southern-east end that feeds every kind of plant and quenches the thirst of every creature that resides there. The trees were all different types ranging from ever-greens to palm trees and would sway in the light breeze that would come through the canyons of the mountains. The grass was long and thick as it grew wild all over the valley floor that hid small animals and insects as the flowers would fill the air with their sweet aroma, which helped calm the creatures that lived there. Yes, this valley was truly a paradise to behold and to live in as these dragons have done since the beginning of the earth.
These creatures that roamed the valley together had many features that were similar and some that were not. There were dragons that could breathe fire and had red scales on their back and wings with either black, yellow, or white underbellies. Their heads had short snouts with their eyes sitting on either side of the head with the horns on the top, zigzagging back to form a sideways "Z" and they stood at a dragons length high (which is eight feet in human measurements) with their wing span being the same as the tail was three-quarters of the length of their own body.
Water dragons were dark blue with either a light blue, or white underbellies and stood about two-thirds of a dragons length in height (about six feet in human measurements) with two or three horns that spiraled together to create one horn that sits on both sides of the head. These Water Dragons could either spray hot boiling water or could use their ice breath to freeze anything they wanted. Their wing span was the same as the length of their body and the tail being three-quarter of a length of their body. Their horns were pointing straight up on the top of the head that was two centi-dragon lengths long (about a foot).
Wind Dragons were white with either gray or black underbellies and stood three-quarters of a dragons length high (about seven feet) with the wing span being the same. The tail was also three-quarter of a length of their body. Like Water Dragons, their horns also pointed straight up on both sides of the head and were two centi-dragons in length. However, they did not spiral to a point like Water Dragons. Also, three horns sat at the back of the jaw on both sides and they created powerful wind gusts with their wings to send their enemies flying.
Finally, Earth Dragons were green with either brown, light brown, or yellow for their underbellies with rammed-shaped horns that sat on both sides of the head. They also stood about a dragons length and two-dragon feet high (eight and four feet high) with the wing span being the same and the tail being
three-quarters of their body. When the need arose for these dragons to defend themselves and did so. They would pound the ground with their mighty feet; causing their enemies to fall into the large cracks in the earth. These Dragons were definitely unique in both their abilities and in their appearance as they lived together in harmony with nature.
The night air was cool as the dragons slept together under the moon lit sky that casted an eerie glow about them as fog started to form over the lake and rolled onto land and hung in thick patches everywhere. One of the red dragons awoke and looked around the area as a sense doom loomed over him. He sniffed the air a couple of times before noticing a glow that seemed brighter than the moon as he looked up at the night sky.
The Dragon slowly got up as not to wake the others and stared at this new light that was starting to glow brighter and brighter by the minute. Soon, it was glowing brighter than the moon and getting bigger by the minute. Suddenly, there was a loud boom that awoke every dragon that looked up at the night sky that now seemed to have turned a burning red as a mountain, that looked like it was on fire, fell from the sky and landed way off in the distance. With a blinding flash of white light that sent earth, fire, and ash up into the air; a shock wave of sound and energy knocked every dragon off of their feet as fear grew in the pit of their stomachs as they quickly arose to their feet and ran from the fire storm that threatened to take them.
The dragons reached the volcano and realized they had no room to take flight or to run anymore. They cried out for help and feared this was their last minutes alive when suddenly, a white figure appeared dressed in white robes with a golden sash and golden shoulder length hair. He had a fair, but strong jawline with white glowing eyes and a narrow nose with his lips being thin, but full. He also had white feathered wings with the same span as his body, which was two-thirds of a dragons length and had his wings spread as if holding onto a doorway of light that stood behind him.
The Dragons were very surprised to see him standing there, but they sensed that they could trust this creature that came forth and he motioned for them to come. They all stepped forth into the light and disappeared just as the firestorm hit the volcano and a black mist descended upon the landscape after the firestorm and high-pitched scream could be heard as the storm destroyed their once beautiful valley.
The Being and the Dragons came to another world that was spread out with four type of regions based on each dragon's fundamental element and each of these lands contribute to supporting life as the two suns provided the world with warmth. Also, this world circles the two suns a hundred years slower than earth and is timed to the same rate that dragon's age. So, it would still feel like a normal year to the dragons living on this planet and it is called a Dragon Year.
The air was thick with atmosphere as flowers and plants of all kinds produced sweet smelling nectar that was similar to the valley back on earth and as the Dragons looked around. They realized that everything here seemed similar to earth in every way. In the north-western quarter of The Dragon World sat several mountain ranges that pushed air through for the rest of the world.
The Volcanic lands sat below the Air Mountains at the south-western side of The Dragon World with one major volcano sitting at the center named Mt. Inferno. This land provided heat, in addition to the two suns, and ash to the world's vegetation and food supply.
The Water Region is covered mostly in ocean with islands that are clustered at the center with a northern coral reef that provides a barrier from the bigger waves that would cause damage. This region sits at the south-eastern side of the world and provides water to the rest of the regions either in the form of rain or rivers that run everywhere in the world to lakes and ponds.
The Earth Region sits at the north-eastern side of the world that is covered in lush green forests to provide food for all of the living in habitants of the world. At the very center of this magnificent region sits a clearing with two twin mountains that sit side by side, towering over the forest.
The being turned to the dragons after ceiling the portal and smiled as he spoke, "This marks the start of The Dragon World and your race will grow into a great civilization. This is your home now and this where you stand shall be the center of the four great regions that will one day answer to The King of The Dragon World who will be hatched with a special ability different from the four basic elements. But, until such a day occurs; I shall watch over you and teach you everything you need to know. You may call me Michael."
Michael turned and looked at the world to make sure everything was in order and then took flight as this marks year one of The Dragon World. He flew through the clouds easily as he thought about saving the Dragons from their fate and knew that the rock falling from the sky was no accident. The Darkness is starting to take hold of the earth and will one day come to this world despite the barriers that were put in place upon arrival to The Dragon World.
Michael turns his thoughts to the future when the evil will start effecting dragons and sees the rain falling in the forest of The Earth Region as five figures rush through the forest floor with two of the figures looking exactly the same except for certain distinct colors on the front. The forest smelled of damp dirt and plants as the five figures stop to look over a map, then the smallest figure took a step and dropped to the ground as a log came swinging by. He got back up and turned to the others to communicate and they all took off again.
The five figures slowed down and took cover behind a bush and peered around to see what looked to be a flag tied between two short maple trees in the middle of a clearing. One of the figure's looked back to notice one of them was missing and saw him behind one of the maple trees, reaching for the flag when suddenly something struck his hand; causing him to fall out from behind the tree.
The figure rubbed his head as he looked up to realize that he was surrounded by fourteen or more figures that were standing in front of him, laughing as the other four from his team joined him in the middle. He quickly got back to his feet and looked around at his friends and nodded to them who nodded back as they looked back towards their adversaries. The five split up as the two standing in at point ran forward while the two on opposite ends ran directly opposite of each other and the last one took to the trees. The group surrounding them split off to follow as the one who took to the trees suddenly appeared over the flag and jumped down on top of it.
Instantly, the fighting stopped as another dragon stepped forth from behind a tree and was shaking hands with the five figures. Suddenly, they heard someone screaming as they all looked to see a dragon holding his head as he tried desperately to rid himself of what was causing his misery and looked up with red glowing eyes.
Michael knew that this was not set at an exact time, but knew it would happen around that time period. Michael just smiled, because he had already taken steps to combat the coming darkness and knew that these dragons were the last chance the living world had.
As a thousand Dragon Years have passed and the Dragons have adapted to their new world, which caused some changes that allowed them to walk upright and begin to speak with a more distinct and organized language and because of this, they have built a civilization that lives in harmony with the four elements. The changes have also allowed these dragons to manipulate their own element by using the techniques Michael has taught them.
The Tower itself was a dragon mile high with the base being three-quarters of a dragon mile around and the top being half a dragon mile with an
east and a west balcony at the top, leading into the throne room as the balcony railings had carvings of each element. Down at the bottom, stood the mahogany wooden doors that also had depictions of the four elements on them as the tower had four torches that pointed to each region. It was surrounded by a half a dragon mile high wall with four gates in the direction of each region and the space from this wall to the Tower was ten Dragon miles long which had an area for the courtyard where some celebrations were taken held and some who wanted to sit outside on nice days. This courtyard had tables that were placed in certain areas near the center and this courtyard was placed by the Tower at the southern side.
Then there were the military headquarters that lined the inside wall and armament to protect The Pearl Tower along with highly trained dragons who are advanced in their element. Also, there were two look out Towers for each gate with four guards and each one that were in charge of looking each direction and had two guards placed at the entrance to each gate to let visitors in and to give information to dragons who were either starting new jobs or children just starting school, because this had tower fourteen levels to it which included going from bottom, up.
The Nursery on the lower level, to the Main Entrance, to the Dormitories for the Dragons past regular school age, to Classes from hatch-lings to thirteen year olds, to Classes from fourteen to eighteen year olds, to the Four levels of higher learning with the lowest being the first level and the highest being the last level, to the Royal Counsel that dealt with the Kingdom's Affairs and brought them to the attention of the King of The Dragon World, and finally to the Royal Throne Room where the King conducted most of his business and celebrations. The grounds in and around The Pearl Tower were taken care of by the grounds keepers and made sure the stone paths leading out were cleaned off every morning and night.
The Four Regions, also have built cities with communities that live peacefully, and the capitals of these regions are: Inferno City, and sat at the base of the volcano at the center of the Fire Region, and the leader of this region was Miles Drakken; Trident City, which was on the biggest island at the center of the Water Region, and the Governor over this land was Breeze Stillwater; Cloud City sits on the highest mountain in the Wind Region with Aria Whirlwind being the Governess of that Region; and finally, Gaia City sits at the base of Twin Peak Mountain and the Governor of this Region is Reed Earthbond.
Michael, now seeing the Dragon World has become a civilization, decided that it was now time to let the Dragons take over as he looked to his apprentice, whom was hatched with a special ability to harden his scales so much, nothing could penetrate them. This young Water Dragon of eighteen was called Zor Zallerferd and he was wise beyond his years. Zor soaked up everything Michael had taught him and even more. His back scales were dark blue with white front scales and had yellow piercing eyes that sat at the base of a long slender snout, coming down to a narrow nose with a little horn on top along with three horns, one on either side of the head that spiraled up to single horns. He also wore a light blue tunic, brown leather pants, and a black belt around his waist and weighed, with wings, two hundred-twenty pounds in muscle with his height being two-thirds of a dragon's length.
Zor looked up from his desk and smiled a toothy grin at Michael who just smiled back then thought to himself, "I must do the ceremony tonight at the feast for the Crowning of The Dragon World and Zor Zallerferd will be a wonderful King."
Michael walked over to Zor and put a hand on his right shoulder and asked, "Well Zor, what would you say if I let you take over from here?"
Zor looked up at Michael with a puzzled look on his face as he asked, "What do you mean?"
Michael went over to the far side of the Throne room that was decorated with red, blue, white, and green tapestries that covered the walls and hung from the ceiling. The floor was laid with golden tiles with a dragons head at the center, as The Dragon Throne sat at the northern end of the room. The Throne was made of pure gold with purple velvet for the back, and seat with armrests coming to a little curve at the end. Michael went to a box set on a pedestal and pulled out a golden crown, which had four longer pieces sitting on opposite sides of each other with four jewels with the color of each region on it to represent unity of The Dragon World. The jewels sparkled brightly in the sunlight and as Michael walked back over to Zor, his face changed from confusion to excitement.
"Zor, tonight you will become King of The Dragon World and I will let the Dragon race take over from here, but keep in mind that I will be watching." Michael said as he walked out of the room to leave Zor with his thoughts.
The day was warm with the smell of flowers in the air as dragons gathered in the courtyard. The ground-keepers were setting up a stage with the colors of each region for the Coronation. Michael was watching from far above with a pleased look on his face and knew that despite the troubles, these dragons now have the capability of defending themselves against attack from the Darkness and with Zor being the King; Michael could feel good about attending to other matters. He looked up at the sky and noticed the suns were setting and the two moons were starting show as tiny slivers in the night sky as the reds, pinks, and purples that streak the sky. Michael walked over to the table in the Throne Room and grabbed a rolled up piece of parchment and flew out the window down to the courtyard where everyone was waiting for him to begin.
Michael landed in the middle of the stage as the trumpets sounded the start of the progression, which was started with two royal guards leading the way with young dragonesses (female dragons) spreading flowers everywhere as Zor Zallerferd followed closely behind; wearing white robes with blue trimming on the collar and cuffs that flowed in the warm evening breeze. The suns where completely gone from the sky and the stars appeared to shine down upon them. Fire wells were lit all over the courtyard as the progression finally came to a stop right at the edge of the stage as Michael raised his hands and the crowd fell silent.
"My friends, the day now has come to Crown a new King of The Dragon World!" Michael said as the crowd suddenly burst with applause.
Michael smiled and raised his hands as the crowd once again fell silent, "Yes, this is great news indeed my friends. But, I also have other news I must tell you. After this ceremony, I will be leaving to go back to my own world, but do not let your hearts be troubled. For this is a night to celebrate and to announce that Zor Zallerferd is the next King of The Dragon World."
The crowd applauded again as Zor Zallerferd walked up onto the stage to Michael and shook his hand as Michael again raised his hand to silence the crowd.
"Zor Zallerferd, you have been my pupil for seventeen long years and yet, it seems as if it was only yesterday that I had started teaching you. Now, here on your eighteenth hatch-day, you are being crowned King of The Dragon World. Now, are you ready?" Michael asked as Zor answered, "Yes, I am."
The crowd once again erupted into applause as Michael took the parchment that was wrapped in a red ribbon that had the words inscribe, "THE SCROLL OF OATH!" and held up his hand as the crowd fell silent and read, "THIS IS THE SCROLL OF OATH. THEREFORE, THE ONE WHO IS THE TRUE KING OF THE DRAGON WORLD AND IS HATCHED WITH A SPECIAL ABILITY SEPARATE FROM THE NORMAL ELEMENTAL POWERS OF THIS WORLD. IF THE ONE WISHES TO PROCEED, ASK HIM THESE SIMPLE QUESTIONS.
ONE: DO YOU PLAN TO RULE THE DRAGON WORD WITH TRUTH, HONOR, AND FAIRNESS?
TWO: DO YOU PROMISE TO PROTECT THIS WORLD AND RULE WITH A JUST HAND WITH THE LAST OF YOU DYING BREATH?"
Michael finished reading the scroll and looked at Zor and asked, "Do you?"
Zor took a moment before answering and finally spoke, "I promise." Michael smiled as he picked up the crown and placed it upon Zor's head and said, "I now proclaim you King of The Dragon World. And may they be blessed."
Michael shook Zor's hand as Zor said, "Thank you, friend Michael"
The crowd erupted into applause as Michael and Zor turn towards them and let them cheer for a few minutes before Michael raised his hands again and the crowd once again fell silent.
"My friends, I have been with you since the beginning of this world and I have seen you grow into an incredible race that I am proud to know and that I love. But like children, you see them grow up and eventually leave home to start a new life, and the same must be for you. I have taught you everything you need to know to survive and now the time has come for me to let the Dragon Race take over. But before I go, I must tell you to that your next king will have the symbol a Dragon's head on his left foot about twelve dragon years from now. So, do keep an eye out."
Every Dragon in the courtyard had tears rolling down the sides of their faces as Michael started to glow white and fade. "Keep strong. I will always be in your hearts and you will always be in mine. I love you all. Good-bye." Michael said as he finally faded into a bright light that quickly went out.
The Dragons began murmuring as Zor raised his hands to get the crowd's attention and spoke, "My friends, let not our hearts be heavy, for we will make this day a holiday for every dragon to enjoy. Now let's have some entertainment and get the music started so we can have a good time tonight, because tomorrow is a new day."
Music started to play as Zor looked up at the two moons in the night sky as the stars sparkle down on him as he thought, "I know we have a lot of work ahead of us, but I know we can do it. Long Live The Dragon World."
