Part 12 Ambushed Again

It had been a few days since Rovino came to the cave and with in that time he has been a huge help. Since Saneira Siss and Traisa were quite big and have slowed down, Dragoune, Crosain, and now Rovino were mostly doing the hunting and patrolling of the area. It took a while to convince Saneira that she couldn't go with them.

"But I don't like sitting in that cave doing nothing and becoming lazy." She said at one point, a couple of times Dragoune had to stay with her so that she would not leave. Only when she did not feel well she decided to take it easy. Another day while both Crosain and Dragoune were out and Rovino stayed with the females Siss asked him.

"So what happened to you that made you leave?" Rovino took a while to answer not that he could remember he just wanted to forget.

"Well what happened was that the crime in my city rapidly increasing and all my guards couldn't handle it all. So I send a messenger to Dragoune hoping he would help me out. A few days later his guards came, at first I was relieved to see them but when I noticed that the crimes were still increased I knew that something was terribly wrong. When the chaos became worse and worse my advisors told I should run and hide. I was reluctant but I knew that it was the best course of action, so I packed up and quickly, but quietly ran out of the city. At the first few days I thought that I was in the clear but suddenly a few Dragoune's guards spotted me and attacked. They had the element of surprise and quickly used it to fight me with very little resistance. Before they finished me off though I saw gryphons coming to my rescue, but before the battle ended I lost consciousness and ended up hear." When he finished he noticed that Dragoune and Crosain had arrived.

"I am sorry Rovino I thought that if I did not tell anyone about Kaous they would not panicked but I left everybody unprepared for this and everything is worse because of it." Dragoune said his head bowed down.

"It is okay Dragoune you did what you thought was best for the kingdom. Trust me when I say that I would have done the same thing. It was a big mistake, but now you are trying to make it right by training to defeat Kaous." Rovino said Dragoune looked up at him and smiled gratefulness in his eyes.

When it was coming down to the last few days of the third week both Dragoune and Saneira started to worry more and more. Rovino had spotted this and asked.

"What's wrong, I thought that you would be happy that you getting close to laying?"

"We are it's just that..." Saneira begun but she trailed off and did not finish.

"You see Saneira has two eggs instead of one. This is very rare around here and not a lot of the dragonesses who had two eggs survived after laying them." Dragoune said never taking his eyes of Saneira. Rovino was silent for a while and then he finally said.

"What if I said that I could help you? I would like to see the book as well." the reason why he asked that is because the dragon parents never ever allow outsiders to see the laying process. Dragoune and Saneira looked at each other for a long while.

"How do we know that you are an expert on this sort of thing?" Saneira finally asked growling a little bit.

"I do not claim to be an expert, but as you may know I was the leader of the Vordran and anything that happened I would have known about and sometimes took part in it." He added because he saw that Saneira was about to argue some more.

"Well the book will not much because I read it a few times and did not see anything useful." Dragoune said

"I kind of guessed that, I just want to read it and to find out what I am getting myself into. Besides I may find something that you missed." Rovino said again there was along silence in which Dragoune and Saneira stared at each other. Finally Saneira nodded and Dragoune said.

"Ok Rovino I will give you the book to read and if you are still confident in doing this then you are privileged to help us." Dragoune stood up and went up close to Rovino and said with a growl.

"If anything happens to her though, I would watch your back." Rovino looked up to see Dragoune's eyes and to his unpleasant surprise he saw that the pupils had disappeared and they were turning a bit red. Now he was starting to have second thoughts.

Since that Rovino was reading the book most of the time Crosain and Dragoune did more of the hunting and fetching water. It was beginning to be a drought and the small pound that Dragoune had in his cave dried up. It really did not matter though because Dragoune used his elements to bring the water to the cave at first he tried freezing the water and putting it in the cave, but that was a bad idea because the cave became quickly cold and everybody was affected by it except for him. Then he got an idea of using roots off of trees to make big bowls. He used his earth powers to take the roots out and make a bowl shape. At first it did not work one of them looked like a pretzel. But after a while he got the hang of it and made ten big deep bowls. That it was easier to carry them in the air, then on the ground. It was two days before the forth week and it took Saneira Traisa and Siss to make both Crosain and Dragoune to resupply there rations.

"We will be fine, you two worry to much." Said Siss for about the hundredth time.

"Are you sure?" Dragoune asked.

"Yes, even though we are pregnant does not mean that we are defenseless." Saniera said

"Besides we have Rovino here with us" Siss piped in.

"Yeah Crosain and Dragoune, I will keep watch." Rovino reassured them from the book that Dragoune gave him.

"But-" Crosain was starting, but all four cut him off by yelling.

"GO!"

Dragoune took to the air knowing that Crosain will be fine on his own. He was actually glad to be back up in the air but his mind would always go back to Saneira and his children and he kicked himself mentally for leaving her. Then he spotted a deer he would have dived if he weren't two of his ten big bowls. Anyway Crosain might of already smelled it and was getting ready to pounce. He turned and headed for the stream he was almost there when his sixth sensed kicked in telling him that danger was near. He quickly landed dropped the bowls and went back up in search for Crosian. It did not take long to find him since that his sixth sense was sensing everything. He landed carefully next to Crosain and said.

"I sense a few guards who aren't on our side." Instinctively he reached for his swords but to his dismay he did feel them.

'Well I guess my elemental abilities are going to have a test run.' He thought to himself. They both quietly got closer to the position of the enemy. Dragoune could sense at the most twenty guards and all of them had one purpose to find and kill Dragoune and his allies.

"Well how many?" Crosain asked

"Twenty." Dragoune said Crosain lowered his head deep in thought Dragoune knew that he was going to take a while so he made sure that his elements were ready to be used.

"Okay here is the deal...." Crosain started saying on what his plan was going to be.

Jerneres was the leader of the guards and he wanted to make sure that this group would not fail like the last one. Not just because he did not want to lose but because Master Kaous did not take kindly to failures. He shook involuntarily when he remembered seeing at what Kaous dose and tried to forget. Again they up wind from the supposed location of the cave, near the river, where the last group was. Jerneres was about to order scouts down when out of the blue Dragoune pops up. He singled his five archers to fire but none did and Dragoune was getting closer. Two guards sprang and attacked him one got a face full of fire when one was caught by what looked to be roots and went into his mouth making him choke. Jenreres was told that Dragoune could use different elements now by Kaous but he did not believe him until now when he saw that ice was coming out of his hands. But what was the unexpected is when Dragoune bit one of his guards on the neck and stayed there for a while. When he let go the guard fell down dead, blood was coming out of the wound but not enough to be dead from. Jenreres was trying to figure out what had happened when a huge took him by the tail and lifting him up. He just got his knife and hand out and was ready for it to bring him up to the head. Although Jenreres did not know that the snake had arms and move his hand to the side which hit the snake on the head but not deeply. As soon as that happened he felt the snake bite him and knew that it was all over.

Dragoune saw Crosain put the guard on the ground and waited for him to come down. When he did Dragoune noticed that Crosain had a cut above his eye. Worried Dragoune quickly went to his friend's aid.

"Crosain are you okay?" Dragoune asked

"Yeah, I am fine just a scratch." Even so blood was coming quite rapidly.

"We better patch that up before it gets infected." Dragoune said hoping that his friend would agree.

"What about the food and water you cannot carry all at once."

"I will make different trips." Dragoune said after a while Crosain nodded reluctantly and they both headed for the cave. When they got there everybody wanted to know what had happened, Dragoune left Crosain to tell the tale when he got the food and water. When they started it was early noon when Dragoune finished it was close to the evening. Everybody was eating their meal sitting by the fire. Everybody turned when they heard the book closed by Rovino.

"You were right Dragoune there was nothing in this book that was quite useful. However I still would like to help any way I can." This time he choose his words more carefully making it sound like that je was no expert. Saneira and Dragoune looked at each other and Saneira nodded.

"Okay Rovino you will be able to help." Dragoune said

"Would you mind in helping us too?" Traisa asked Rovino shook his head and said.

"No I would not mind at all."

They all said good night to each other and went to their places to sleep. Saneira put her back to Dragoune and went as close as she could. Dragoune wrapped his arm and wing over her and hugged her. She moved her head so they could kiss one another for a long while.

"Last week." Saneira said Dragoune had no response but did not need one and kissed her again.

"Goodnight my black knight." Saniera said

"Goodnight my lovely dragoness." Dragoune said they both closed their eyes and fell asleep.

I know I know that I have not put in alot of yiff the reason being though is that I feel that this is not the right time to do so. But I promise that there is more to come
