Another year has come and gone while things have change a great deal for me here. Rebecca and Jade quit around Halloween and thanksgiving for personal reasons. I was sad to see them go but, I respected their choices to move onto greener pastures. Though I was grateful that both women gave me sole ownership of their inventions. Seeing as my own impressive inventions wouldn't be complete with them in the mix.
During all this time this place has gotten a lot more people and certainly more active. Seeing as I still don't trust anyone to work in R&D considering what's here is highly sensitive. The plus side is I can continue my work without much distraction as for, Sierra. She was tickled pink that I'm allowing her to do her own special projects. Though she keeps me in the loop should she ever need a second opinion on them.
On a rainy Friday I spent the morning making last minute adjustments on my project. Before I had to present the semi-finished work to the board of directors. Now they've already seen some of the early testing results but, they want a full scale test. Especially when during their last visit, they wanted that test to be a live demonstration. Sadly I had until Monday morning to get the final tweaks and glitches repaired.
I was confident that could meet their two day deadline with little trouble. My only question was should I ask, Sierra if she won't mind coming in this weekend to help. Getting up from my chair I walked over to her current work station to ask her about it. "Hey, Sierra, do have any problems coming in to help me out this weekend?" I asked. She took a moment to finish what she was doing before turning to face me.
"Sure, thing I've got nothing really solid planned for this weekend anyway Devin. What time would you like me to come in Saturday morning?" She replied. I told her that the usual time we normally come into work on a daily basis should be fine. "Okay, do you want some help, seeing as I'm almost done over here?" She wondered. Taking a brief moment to think I decided to call it and early night.
The following morning I arrived around seven o'clock as I walked into the R&D building. After signing into my terminal I walked around getting everything up and running. Even though I asked Sierra for help but, I left it up to her to decide to come in. When I took a look over at the clock on the wall it read eight fifteen am. As I got started where I left off yesterday, fifteen minutes later Sierra comes walking in.
"I'm sorry for being late, Devin I accidently overslept, have I missed anything?" She replied removing her coat. Giving her a gentle pat on the shoulder saying it was fine and that she didn't miss much. I informed her that I was going to give the entire system a deep run through. Seeing as I lot can still go wrong and that we should get to work. That's when Sierra looked at me and told to relax or my negativity would jinx everything.
"You're right as always, Sierra anyway I'll give you a shout if I need you okay." I informed as she left. She gave me a reassuring smile that helped the bad feelings I had vanish. From there she got to work on her own things while I did the same on my end. About a couple hours later I took a break from my work to go check on Sierra. "How're things coming along you've been awful quiet over here?" I asked.
"Hmm, Sorry I'm just being cautious that's all, these chemic aren't very stable alone. So please don't get any closer to me, okay just to be on the safe side." She replied. Doing as she had requested of me I moved to a safe distance and watched carefully. As I watched something about the chemical in the container seemed off. Sadly my assumption turned ugly almost instantly as a violent reaction began building.
"SIERRA, WATCH OUT THAT THING IS GOING TO DETONATE!!" I shouted. Rushing over grabbing the container then quickly tossing her right out of harm's way. Sure enough a large explosion ripped through the R&D lab sending shrapnel everywhere. By the time the smoke cleared Sierra slowly stood up luckily unharmed. Unfortunately I wasn't so lucky when I went to get up off the floor.
When none of my limbs didn't respond sure enough I was injured and in shock. Sadly neither of us knew the extent of my injuries but, had to the nearest hospital. "Hey, Devin are you alright, where are you?" She asked looking around for me. The moment she found me lying amongst the debris at ground zero she freaked. I yelled to get her attention then asked her if she was injured at all, after the explosion.
She told me no I was grateful for, as the pain began to increase throughout my body. Sierra knew I needed to get myself to a hospital fast but, fate had other plans. Luckily for me the shockwave had sent me across the room right near my bio tank. As I looked up at the tank then back at a very worried Sierra gave her a nod. "Alright, Devin I'll get you inside the tank and let it fix you right up." She replied softly.
Not wasting any more time she fired up the device, activated the specialized lift. She brought lift down me, strapped me into it then placed me safely inside the tank. Once inside she started the machine the tank began filling with bio fluid. Soon after I entered a state of unconsciousness, it was for the best that I wasn't awake. The very last thought to actually go through my mind was I hope nothing bad happens.
Over the next forty eight hours I didn't realize anything that was going on with me. During the course of weekend Sierra kept an eye on me from her computer at home. While the maintenance workers carefully rebuilt the R&D lab around my bio tank. She gave them very specific instructions to leave the tank and who was inside alone. The machine was undergoing a marathon testing run before a final demonstration early Monday.
All they did was politely cover the device with a sheet so it wouldn't get dirty. As the men work a strange transformation began to which nobody would be ready for. The first thing that happened was my internal organs, bones and stance were altered. Next my body began to shift from being merely human to something seen in movies. By late Sunday evening my soon to be startling transformation was complete.
Very early Monday morning Sierra came in to check on me and see how I fared. By this time I slowly came around then aware of what was going on around me. That's when I sensed there was someone wandering around the place. Honestly I was ready to get out of this bloody test tube and get a good breakfast in me. Sadly I couldn't tell who it was and what's worse I couldn't even talk to them.
"Morning, Devin, can you hear me in there? Tap on the glass to let me know you're alright and awake in there." Sierra replied. Doing as she asked of me I gave the thick glass on the tank a good tap. "How are you feeling in there big guy?" She asked shortly after. Gave the tank two more taps, when I heard her let out a sigh of relief. Suddenly I began hearing all sorts of things that couldn't before which was rather strange.
Of course liquid can improve how sound travels, better than air so I let it go. "Heads up, I'm going to drain the tank now so be patient it might take a little bit." She informed. It was something I already knew considering I've been in here for two days now. Another ten minutes in here wasn't going to be the death of me so I waited patiently. After the tank was fully drained the shower system kicked in about five minutes later.
What truly sucked the most about the shower system the damn water was freezing cold. "Sorry, about the frigid bath it's just to rinse the remaining chemicals left in you fur." She replied. <FUR? What in the blue hell do you mean by fur, Sierra? Since when did I go from being human to animal after being put into this device of mine?> I thought trying to figure out what she meant by her comment.
"Devin before you go racking your brain over this please allow me to answer that for you. Over the course of the weekend your body was transformed into some kind of were-beast. Now my guess is this might be an unusual side effect of the Bio Fluid. That's my guess at the present time but, once I get you out of there. I'm positive you'll be able to figure this random screw up on your own." She replied getting the lift ready.
As the custom chair entered the tank and reached the bottom I sat down on it. Sierra hit the button ordering the chair to be lifted out of the tank and place it on the floor. The instant my bare feet touch the floor, it was freezing cold to the touch. I literally jumped out of my seat and banged my head on the very ceiling of the building. When I came back down Sierra previous comment was starting to make sense.
"Sierra could you please bring me a hand mirror please?" I asked politely. She walked over to her desk, opened a drawer then pulled out the item I wanted. After she gave it to me I brought it up to my face and i was completely shocked at what I saw. The robocells in the fluid had totally overhauled my body from head to toe. I was no longer a human being instead I had transformed into a bio-engineered werewolf.
"Well, talk about an unexpected surprise but, somehow I feel strangely complete now. Like deep down this was how I was supposed to be and the robocells made that happen." I said. As I stood up on my feet again, though I feel back down onto the chair. Of course I busted out laughing which caused Sierra to look at me funny. "Okay, how the hell can you be so non-chalant about all this?" Sierra barked questioningly.
Shrugging off Sierra's angry question I was focused on standing on my newly formed feet. "Okay, now how in the world do you even walk on these things?" I replied looking at my foot paws. Shaking her head in disbelief Sierra suggested that I try to walk on my tip-toes. "There we go thanks, I'd have spent an hour figuring that out." I smiled. Though I wasn't totally prepared for Sierra's response to my expression.
"HOLY CRAP! Those are some big canines you've got, don't go biting anyone." She stated. Of course naturally I asked her what she meant by her statement. "Let me put it this way you could take someone's arm clean off with one bite." She pointed out. Grabbing the hand mirror again, I opened my mouth and looked myself. There's times I do hate when she's right but, in this case I was certainly thankful.
"Devin, let's run a couple of tests to see what else has been done to you, okay." She informed. Naturally I did as she asked of me, I had to admit I wasn't looking forward to it. Considering what I had undergone over the last two days this might be worth the testing. Besides I was more than curious to find out what we could learn from this. For the next hour I was subject to every kind of test we could think of performing.
"WELL, SHOOT! The data indicates that you're in perfect health despite this mess." She replied. At that instant I felt something attached to me yet moving on its own accord. "OK! Why do feel like I have another limb behind me?" I wondered. Sierra was more than happy to point out it was my tail that was wagging happily. "Would you look at that I guess I have a personal fan now." I smiled.
Poor, Sierra she was having a hard time believing I was actually enjoying myself. Though if I was in her shoes I'd probably be having a major nervous breakdown. While I got the hang of walking on my newly formed feet I then found something to wear. As I found a lab coat that would fit my larger frame the next thing on my mind was food. Naturally Sierra was quick to voice her disapproval of me leaving the lab.
I told her to relax ant that I wouldn't be gone very besides the cafeteria wasn't far. Little did I know not everyone was going to be thrilled with my new look when I entered. Naturally they did what anybody would do when they see something that can't be explained. Of course I hadn't factored in how sensitive my ears where when they began screaming. The entire cafeteria cleared out in seconds just as the security team burst in.
The first guard to speak was, Charlie he order me to cease and desist with his gun drawn. "Howdy Charlie how's the wife and kids, keeping you on your toes I hope?" I asked facing him. Before he could ask, a sudden pop filled the air then I hit the ground unconscious. "Bind that beast up then carry it out to the loading dock. There's a cargo truck waiting to take this creature to another facility for extensive study." A man ordered.
To be continued.
