Iron Dragon Chapters 40-41
#20 of Iron Dragon
"So what do you guys think?" Winston asked as he and Brian each took a seat at one end of the table and Nodrog walked around and sat next to Sherman.
"He can play, that's for sure." Ox said.
"That's no doubt. He is more than welcome as far as I am concerned." Steven said.
"I agree, all we need now is to get some things scheduled and some practice in." Freddy said.
"I got your number from Sherman. I will give you a buzz when we get some things lined out." Winston said.
"However, while we don't have a formal dress code... You will need something a little more..." Brain kinda pointed to what everyone else was wearing.
"Little more formal, I think I can find something. If not, my roommates can probably help." Nodrog said.
"The other two girls?" Winston asked. Nodrog and Sherman just nodded and smiled.
"Some guys have all the luck." Ox said and they all laughed.
"Speaking of them..." Sherman pulled out his phone to read the text he just got.
"Are we holding them up?" Nodrog asked.
"Yeah, what do you want to eat or drink? Cause they aren't waiting any longer." Sherman typed out what he wanted.
"Whatever you are getting, I'm not picky. Thanks for letting my try out, I'll see you guys later." Nodrog said as he got up.
"How much longer are you in town?" Winston asked.
Sherman put his phone back in his pocket. "Indefinitely. What's up?"
"Mom's coming to town next week." Winston said.
"I will be here, and I will be free. Give me a call and I will go with you to the airport." Sherman said.
"I will." Winston said. Nodrog and Sherman headed out and he sat back down at the table.
"How long has it been?" Brian asked as they sat quietly.
"Since he has seen her? Three maybe four years. I guess he calls her up from time to time. His shit work always gets in the way." Winston grumbled.
"People change, maybe he is." Steven said.
"I hope you're right." Winston slouched more in the chair and glanced out the front door.
Sherman and Nodrog headed to the little deli the girls had stopped and part of their order was all ready done. Sherman sat down next to Cindy and Nodrog pulled up and empty chair to the end of the booth.
"So, how did it go?" Cindy asked, since Alice was in the restroom and Jenny was stuffing her face.
"They offered me a spot. Winston said he would call me when they get some practices lined up." Nodrog picked up his drink. He probably drank to much pop, but the sugars and caffeine didn't really affect him.
"Next week, my mom's in town. Not sure what day she is flying in, so we might have to change some plans. Hope you don't mind." Sherman said before taking a drink of his coke while they waited on the sandwiches.
"Of course I don't mind. When was the last time you have seen her?" Cindy asked.
"Almost four years ago. Being a top secret project kept me rather busy... Christ that is a shitty excuse." Sherman stared down at the table as the realization hit home pretty hard.
"I think she understands." Jenny said after taking a break to breath.
"Who are we talking about? You know you are supposed to chew your food, right?" Alice asked as she sat down next to Jenny.
"And breath between mouthfuls. Sherman's mom is coming for a visit next week." Nodrog was glad his and Sherman's food arrived.
"With you and Winston living here, why doesn't she move?" Jenny asked.
"Except the two of us, the rest of our family is back there. She likes the sleepy little mountain town they live in. The big city is too busy and crowded for her taste." Sherman said.
"Funny, my dad always said the same thing." Alice cut her veggie wrap in half before taking a bite. Glad Jenny's sandwich assault had slowed to normal human pace.
"Speaking of moms, why did Lucy kiss you this morning?" Jenny asked, most of her lunch devoured.
Nodrog sucked on his coke while he thought of an answer. "I would guess it would have to do with our early morning conversation. You would have to ask her to be sure."
"So what were you talking about?" Cindy asked and giggled when Alice about dropped half of her wrap.
"A little philosophy and a little about her daughter and soon to be daughter in-law." Nodrog said.
"Could you be any more vague?" Sherman asked.
"Probably, but I'm not telling. It was grown up stuff, not for you little kids." Nodrog laughed when they all looked at him for the slight insult. They pestered him about it throughout lunch and while they were out doing a little shopping. Still he kept it to himself, since Alice and Jenny hadn't told Lucy about the three of them. Plus he figured it wasn't a topic to talk about in the open like this.
Nodrog got the feeling Lucy was not going to ask either girl about it either. She would most likely wait until they decided to bring up the subject. It was clear she was a little envious of their, unique, situation. Since Ron never asked questions about it, he figured Alice's dad probably did not know. Given how private Lucy and his conversations tended to be, either in another language or when no one was around.
Not that he minded, being older and vastly more mature then most of the people he was around, it was nice to talk with Lucy. Who has a little more experience with life in general. She understood things and saw the world differently than Alice, Jenny and the younger adults. Sherman understood what it is like to be a soldier and only be good at killing...
Alice and Jenny, only lived in the moment. The past is done and gone and they worry about tomorrow, when they wake up in the morning. You could say they just lived life with reckless abandon, they took risks and didn't get too hung up on failures. Well Jenny could, but usually not for very long. Maybe he would quit working for the company and just play music...
Or maybe learn to brew beer... The thought was rather intriguing, and brought around by the liquor store they just passed. For that matter he could help Lucy with her language class if he quit. As it stood, he had few if any bills, and didn't really have much need for money in the first place.
"Somethin' wrong?" Cindy asked as they walked down the street.
"Yeah, the first time I finally have the freedom to chose what I want to do... And I can't make up my mind." Nodrog said with a smile and laughed.
"That's not a bad thing." Sherman said.
"We are nothing, if, spoiled for choice." Jenny said thoughtfully.
"Especially now a days. This city has no shortage of things to do or be." Alice said.
"Of all the rotten luck..." Sherman said as his, Nodrog and Cindy's pagers went off at once.
"Don't answer it, we have plans." Jenny pleaded as they stopped.
Sherman called in and got a rather brief, briefing. "They are going to have to wait. One of our medical aid units has been taken as hostages by an anti government group down in South America."
"Um, are we supposed to know stuff like that?" Alice asked.
"It will probably be on the news before today is over. Besides, we trust that you wouldn't say anything." Sherman said.
"What about your mom coming to town?" Jenny asked.
"Thankfully that's next week. All I will say is, we just are going to rescue them, not fight a war." Sherman said.
"Lets head back with them. I don't feel like being out anymore." Alice said.
"This sucks..." Jenny said as they turned down the street to head back. She was looking forward to dressing up for two of them tonight.
The three of them were only in their apartments long enough to grab the bag they kept packed. Just like last time the gunship was fueled and armed to the teeth. Mr. October was waiting for them.
"I know, this interrupts the celebration for Alice's victory. I cannot delay action any longer. I wouldn't have called except, the team I sent down has failed to report in. They have been captured, or killed. More likely the later. Here is a short file and identification of the medical staff and the first unit." Mr. October said in his gruff voice. He waited for Cindy to quickly read over the flight plan.
"The quicker the better, the gun ship has enough room for the staff and the first team. Don't worry about equipment or supplies. Once they are safely on board, weapons free on the gun ship." Mr. October said.
"Scorched earth?" Sherman asked.
"I don't want a single bullet or missile left on this thing when you stop to refuel on the way back. I am tired of playing these games, once I hear you have them and are on the way back. I will hold a press conference, the world will know of The Nightmare Calvary." Mr. October looked at Nodrog and Sherman carefully. "Physiological warfare, I aim to keep fires from starting with the fear of swift and unstoppable force."
"The greatest weapon, is the one you never have to use." Nodrog said.
"Exactly." Mr. October said and walked to the dark blue SUV waiting for him.
"Lets go boys." Cindy said and the three climbed on.
Alice and Jenny watched the blacked out chopper taxi out of its hanger. They were holding hands as it quickly thundered into the air and headed south.
"Even knowing he can't die, it doesn't make this any easier." Jenny said.
"I know." Alice said.
Cindy killed the marker lights, the IFF and all active sensors. If anyone was watching them, it was now like they never existed. They would have to refuel on the way and that base would know when to expect them. She wasn't happy about weapons free after the rescue, even understanding the why, it didn't mean she had to like it.
"Cindy, can you get any weather info for the area?" Nodrog asked.
"Once we get a little closer, I can." Cindy said.
"What are you thinking?" Sherman asked.
"I am hoping for a storm. Better cover. And a bit of flair, seeing what we are called." Nodrog and Sherman looked over some satellite images of the little town they were headed to. As much as he hated being called out like this, over and over again. That little part of him still got excited about violence. Nineteen hundred years is a lot of time to develop bad habits, he shouldn't expect to get rid of them in months. He never would have felt bad about missing a party or special event before... Maybe he really was changing for the better.
"I don't know if I can do it..." Cindy said as she guided the chopper.
"Do what?" Sherman asked with concern in his voice. Something that wasn't there the last time they were in this situation. While he didn't notice it, Cindy and Nodrog had.
"I can't kill all of those people." Cindy said and wiped her nose on her sleeve. "There might be innocent people caught up in it."
Sherman didn't know what to say. He looked up at Nodrog and knew he was going to hate what the dragon was going to say.
"Don't worry about the people. All you will be shooting at is buildings." Nodrog said.
"What do you mean?" Cindy asked, and like Sherman, knew the answer without hearing it.
"I will kill them all." Nodrog said coldly. That almost killed his earlier thought, except... Before he would have just killed them both of them for having problems with orders. Not much of a start to changing...
"I thought you were starting to change." Cindy said.
"I thought so too." Sherman said flatly.
Nodrog looked at Sherman. "I have... I will shoulder that burden while the two of you focus on saving the medical staff."
"I can't ask you to do that. We have our orders... Even if I disagree with them... How can you be so calm about ending another person's life?" Cindy asked.
"Because I know they would not hesitate to kill us if our roles were reversed. It is as simple as that." Nodrog waited for the two of them to think it over. "The only difference between this and when we saved Frank's team is the place."
"All right, but do you believe him about not being needed after the announcement?" Cindy asked the resolve returning.
"Depends on how good of a job we do." Nodrog had told them a lie, but as they banked to the west, he figured they knew it. Now that he had their full attention they could get down to planning the operation.
Jenny and Alice were upset and frustrated. They both kind of moped around the apartment. Even if they did just go down, load up the med unit and return home it was going to be late Tuesday or early Wednesday before Nodrog would be back.
And rather uncharacteristically of them, they both called it an early night and went to bed. No fooling around at all. "I was hoping he was done doing this stuff." Jenny said quietly.
"I guess there really is no rest for the wicked. But we kinda knew this might happen when we started... I know you have seen it too." Alice rolled over to cuddle Jenny.
"I have, I just worry this kind of stuff might undo what we have done." Jenny said.
"It will be all right, we both know waiting sucks and we suck at waiting. Still I am sure he really does appreciate us being here for him." Alice said.
"You're right as always... night love." Jenny said.
"Love you more..." Alice said with a smile. For a change they didn't toss and turn all night and both giggled when they woke up in mostly the same position they had fallen asleep in.
"Mondays suck." Jenny said as the two made their way to the lab.
"I always liked Mondays." Jade said as the two entered their little office.
"Good morning." Alice and Jenny said.
"I have a little task for you both this morning. A colleague of ours from the museum would like us to verify some findings on a few artifacts. Shouldn't take my two best very long." Jade said with a sultry smile. It was about that time they saw the two crates that had been delivered sitting in the lab itself.
"No problem at all." Jenny took the clipboard Jade handed her.
"Also congratulations on your victory Alice. You are an inspiration to young women all over. I hope you don't mind but I took the liberty to schedule an interview with a science journal, when they requested it. They are running a series of articles on women of science and you are going to be the first." Jade said.
"Thank you, I don't really know what to say." Alice blushed from the praise and a little embarrassment. She was suddenly very popular and wasn't sure how to act.
"The journal will send a writer and a photographer here tomorrow. I told them one o'clock in the afternoon." Jade stood up and to leave.
"I really do appreciate you and the company letting me take time off to go play with race cars." Alice said.
"I appreciate all the hard work you do here. You have more than earned the time to play. Besides, I am one of your race fans." Jade turned and walked out of their small little office.
"So that's another cover page my little mouse is going to be on. That makes number three or four? Car mags, a science journal, and the sexy cover girl is mine." Jenny said excitedly and wrapped her arms around Alice. She also kissed the back of Alice's neck.
"I guess that means tomorrow I at least need to dress a little more business like then the way I am now." Alice said.
"I always liked the causal blue jeans and T-shirt under the lab coat look." Jenny wouldn't let Alice go.
Alice swatted at one of Jenny's roaming hands. "Not now! Bad kitty."
"But I am so good at being bad..." Jenny whispered in Alice's ear.
"Oh, how I know... Can we at least start some tests before you start molesting me in our office?" Alice asked.
Jenny lightly kissed Alice's neck. "I think we can do that."
Chapter
It took the two of them to unscrew and lift the lid off the first crate. Jenny checked off the artifacts Alice carefully removed from the packaging. They double checked to make sure everything listed on the invoice was cataloged on their records.
To watch them work with the artifacts you would not have thought them the same two people. It was a rather stark contrast between the pair at work and at home. Jenny turned on the radio and they both went over the list of things they had be asked to confirm. Actually the caretaker had written a short letter thanking the both of them, for taking the time to double check his and his grad students work.
Many of the artifacts they uncovered in the field ended up in the care of museums and universities worldwide. Services such as these were done at no charge for schools and museums. Private collectors did pay for these kind of tests, or funded the expeditions themselves.
Alice had on one expedition been offered a very lucrative position for a private collector, but it came after Jenny had finally revealed her true feelings for Alice. They were a pair at that point and didn't go without the other. Part of that was due to the way the company worked.
While Mr. October scared them both by his normal demeanor. It was the reasons behind his actions that spoke a great deal about the man. He was the only corporate head to spend his own money to protect his staff. It was before either of them had started but a field team had been attacked by smugglers, Marko was with the field unit and after he got back to headquarters, he acquired the military division for nearly eight billion dollars. And made sure any field unit that worked in more hostile parts of the world, had the best protection.
Unfortunately seeing as were they found Nodrog was not a hot spot, it was decided no security support was needed. Which lead to the question, if they had protection would they have found him at all?
Neither of them had much interaction with Mr. October, but he knew everyone in this buildings name. All four hundred of them, including the janitors. He could name their immediate family and children. He was a fountain of knowledge, he had the basic understanding of everyone's job, what they did, how they did it. When they held the funerals for those killed in both attacks, he was one of the pall bearers for every single coffin.
Alice was a little relived Jenny forgot about sex while they were working. If you could keep her focused, Jenny was very good at what they did. The smallest of detail could not hide from her, when she was focused. Alice's grandfather was right, if you find something you enjoy doing and enjoy working with the people at work. It would never be work... and this wasn't work.
The morning and afternoon past by rather quickly, for Jenny and Alice. For Nodrog and Sherman it was going to be a drawn out muddy mess.
"There is a tropical storm moving into the area." One of the ground crew reported as the three waited for refueling.
"This is your fault, you know that right?" Cindy asked.
"I admit it is a little more then I wanted, still it will serve its purpose. Not a soul will expect any attack in that kind of weather." Nodrog glanced over the report. "Besides, I have the utmost faith in your piloting skill."
"You can't be serious about going down there." The solder said.
"Of course we are, this gives us good cover and a better chance that those still alive stay that way." Sherman said.
"It sounds like a suicide mission Sir." Another of the fuel crew said.
"Only for me Sergeant, even if we get blown out of the sky these two will survive." Cindy said and that realization was why she was nervous about flying into this kind of a storm.
"Okay you are good to go, but I would still discourage it." The Sergeant said.
"Consider it noted, just make sure they expect us back early in the morning." Sherman said and the three climbed back aboard the gunship. Cindy kicked the engines back to life and since they were still warm, she could throttle up to full power quickly. She pointed the nose to the small town and the storm and they thundered away.
"Will this severe of a storm interfere with your plan?" Sherman asked.
"No, it might make it easier." Nodrog said.
"How so?" Cindy asked.
"They won't be able to see us." Nodrog said, and it was partly true. There was another reason, but only people like him think that way. All those in that village were going to die, the storm would just make it harder for the two of them to tell a solder from a civilian. And if it came down to it, he could always make them believe everyone was armed...
Two hours after refueling they caught the edge of the storm. "Hang tight, its going to get a little bumpy." Cindy thankful for the effortless flight controls and the heavy weight of the gunship. It handled the foul weather better then the lighter choppers she was used too. It handled the heavy winds and driving rain like a tank, which is what it was, a flying tank.
Cindy had to turn on some sensors to map the terrain out in front of them. She breathed a sigh of relief from the lack of any active sensors looking for them. "The couple of radio ID tags put them in building ten." Only a few of the personal locators were sending a signal.
Nodrog and Sherman checked the map of the town. "Drop in to the east of it or maybe the north?" Sherman asked.
"East, we can clear it and that puts the building between the gunship and the rest of town." Nodrog said.
"I either need to outright land or keep above fifty feet, the cross winds are really strong down low." Cindy said.
"Touch and go. Be the safest for all of us." Sherman said.
"All right open the hatch because I am going to have to pull up rather quickly." Cindy said.
Nodrog hit the button and the hatch opened up exposing them to the howling wind and rain. "We sprint to the building and each take a side." Nodrog yelled over the storm. At least no one would hear the gunship in this storm.
Cindy wasn't joking around they both took a step onto the ground and the chopper was pulling away. The two sprinted to the building. Sherman noticed the eerie glow coming from Nodrog's eyes. The dragon grabbed him and drug him within an inch of each other. "Just like the fake building, we don't look like our normal selves. Call me so I can remove the magic before you get to the med unit."
"Got it." Sherman said and the two split up, each going in opposite sides of the building and pushing to the middle. Whatever Nodrog had made him look like it was effective, it also seemed to make it harder for them to shoot him. Like the dragon, he also had a little part that still enjoyed this part of his life. And like the dragon, had a hard time talking to anyone outside about it. He put everything out of his mind except the task at hand. They knew the hostages were in the basement, after all the building only had two sets of stairs leading down to it and no other exits.
It was over quickly. Sherman saw the ghastly figure Nodrog had cast on himself. "Clear."
"Clear." Nodrog replied and the cloak he had wrapped them in fell away. The two each took a set of stairs and ended up at opposite ends of a long hallway. Both of them stuck a knife in each guard and proceeded onward.
"Must have thought they would try to escape, if they went to the trouble of locking the doors with a chain." Sherman said and shouldered his rife as Nodrog grabbed hold of the chain. "Do it."
Nodrog crushed and yanked the chain and lock off the door handles. With his other hand he pulled open the door and Sherman quickly stepped into the room. "Clear. They are all here by my count."
Nodrog walked into the room. With the exception of what he would call minor injuries all of the first team and the medical unit was here. "I am Warfare Specialist Nodrog and this is Lieutenant Sherman. We are the Nightmare Calvary."
One of the soldiers stood up. "We don't care what you are if you are getting us out of here. Lieutenant Samson." Samson said and the rest agreed with him.
"Then lets get you out of here." Nodrog said and glanced out the doors to see if anyone had come in.
Sherman reached up to his shoulder and keyed the radio. "Cindy, we have them. Put down as close as you can we have a few wounded, but they are all alive."
Cindy banked hard to the right and came around quickly. Just at roof top level she opened the rear hatch and spun the chopper around so the rear hatch was facing the doors Sherman had entered in. Sherman took point and lead them out the way he had came in. Nodrog went out the other way cloaking himself in the shadows of magic.
Nodrog made short work of those few brave or stupid enough to be outside in the storm. He mainly use magic to kill those he sensed as he passed by buildings. Sherman gave him the signal to double back to the gunship. He sprinted back and climbed in the rear hatch. As soon as he pressed the close button Cindy took to the air. Nodrog was just buying time so Sherman could learn the gun ship's weapons systems. They decided Cindy didn't have to pull the trigger, all she needed to do was fly.
Cindy made a slow loop of the town as Sherman fired the weapons. She radioed in and let them know the mission was successful. Alice and Jenny had met a few coworkers in the lounge and watched the press conference.
"I want you to hear this directly from me, so it will be clear. Saturday night one of my medical units was taken hostage while they were trying to help the survivors of the earthquake that hit the northern coast of what was Chili." Mr. October said and gave a slight pause before continuing.
"I do not take such things lightly as I have said repeatedly. My staff are more than employees, I consider them all part of my family. Sunday I ordered a special team to go and rescue them. I am glad to say, as of right now they are all ready on a flight back." Mr. October said and waited for the reporters to quiet down.
"The time this special unit dropped in, to the time they took off with the medical unit, less than thirty minutes. I direct your attention to the monitors around the room. Those smoking ruins are what's left after the unit designated The Nightmare Calvary took off. Let it be a lesson for those who wish to do my family harm." Mr. October said and looked around the room.
"They are called the Nightmare Calvary because they can be anywhere in the world not in weeks, or days, but hours. They are not normal solders, and they are not merely super solders. They are creatures right out of nightmares. They answer only to me, and will only be called on for such actions as these. As I try my best to get the clearance from proper authorities before I send any field teams out. I am greatly offended when aid workers and scientists are attacked without provocation." Mr. October said.
"How many members does this Nightmare Calvary have?" One of the reporters stood up and asked.
"Two, plus the pilot." Mr. October said and turned from the podium and left. Let them try and figure that part out. He slightly smiled as he and his aid headed down to catch a flight out to the headquarters the medical unit was stationed at.
Nodrog had healed all of the injuries both units had during the flight back to the base. It had not taken long to load the gun ship into the massive cargo plane. Cindy had fallen asleep almost before she put her seat belt on. It wasn't long until only Sherman and him were the only ones still awake.
"I guess we both are stuck doing this line of work." Sherman said.
"Seems that way. It will take as long or longer to get away from it. Only time will tell." Nodrog looked out the window and tried to think of what he was going to say to Jenny and Alice. He had all night and a day to think about it.
Alice pulled her phone out of her pocket. "Hello?"
"Hey Alice, its Katie. I didn't catch you at a bad time did I?" Katie asked as she leaned against one of the tool boxes in the shop.
"No, we just finished lunch and were getting ready to finish up some tests. What's up?" Alice asked and sat on top of the crate they all ready had repacked.
"Joe and I need you to come down to the shop after you get off." Katie said.
"Something wrong?" Alice asked.
"No, just want you to come down and give us your opinion on something." Katie was trying to keep from getting excited and giving the surprise away. "Bring Jenny with you."
"Oh, okay. We will be there a little after six." Alice said.
"See you then. Bye." Katie said.
"Bye." Alice said and put her phone back in her pocket.
"What was that about?" Jenny asked as she prepped an artifact to have a CT scan.
"Katie and Joe want us to come down to the shop after we get off." Alice said and looked at her watch when they heard a knock at the door. "Come in. We are in the lab."
A older man came in followed by a tiger human hybrid of a young man. The older gentleman was fully human. The young man was like Jenny and only had the tail and ears of a tiger. "We are from the Science Journal. I am Greg Foster and this is John Grayson." Greg said.
"Pleased to meet you. We are in the middle of verifying some results for Mr. Kramer down at the history museum." Alice said.
"I just want to ask you some questions, and John can take photos as the two of you work." Greg said and opened up a note book.
Alice wasn't as nervous as she thought she would be since Jenny was right there with her. Most of the questions were pretty easy, things like what got her interested in science, how she did in school and what classes she took. Really they were along the same lines as the editors for the car magazine asked. And included what other interests she had besides her work here and racing.
She didn't expect the relationship questions, but they were harmless. Like where Jenny and her had first met, and how serious it was. Which was answered simply enough with they were engaged. The hour they spent talking with Greg went by rather quickly. John took several photos as they worked, and only asked for one staged shoot for the cover. Which was just her standing in the lab wearing the lab coat but holding the race car helmet in her hand. He also got a few good shots of the two of them together.
"That is kind of fun." Jenny said after the two had left. They were walking down to retrieve the last artifact from the CT scan and go over the results with the Radiologist.
"I still get nervous around them." Alice said.
"I think you did fine." Jenny wondered if she felt the same kind of pride in Alice as her parents did. One of the guys from the radiology department helped them get the largest of the artifacts back to their lab and set carefully back in the shipping crate. Jenny typed up the last of their findings while Alice wrote a letter back to Kramer and his staff at the museum.
A quick phone call down to shipping and receiving to get a couple of people up to get the two crates. While they waited for the shipping guys to come up and get the crates they turned off the equipment and locked the office. Jenny signed off on the paper work for the transfer back to the museum.
"Lets go see what Joe and Katie want." Jenny said as she hung up her lab coat.
"Lets go." Alice said and turned off the last of the lights.
"I guess since neither of us pulled something out for dinner, we should stop someplace and get something." Jenny said as they walked.
"We still haven't tried that new Asian restaurant yet." Alice said.
"That sounds good. Maybe Joe and Katie will want to come along." The two headed down and took the shuttle out. Jenny however sort of knew why they were going, because Katie had called her yesterday to see if they had plans for tonight. Katie didn't tell her more than they had a surprise for Alice.
When they arrived the shop looked partly closed. The back was dark and only the little show room out front had lights on. Alice and Jenny hopped off the bus and walked across the mostly empty parking lot. Katie and the twins were standing behind the counter.
"So what's up?" Alice asked as they walked in.
"We have to show you, we can't just tell you." Katie said and each twin excitedly ran around the counter, grabbed one of her arms and quickly drug her to the back.
"Why do I get the feeling, this is a big surprise?" Jenny asked Katie as the two of them followed.
"It is." Katie said with a wink. She pulled out a set of keys out of her pocket and handed them to Alice.
"What are these for?" Alice asked.
"You'll see. Joe, turn on the lights." Katie said.
Alice looked into the darkness as a faint click was followed by the hum of the florescent light ballasts. The few lights flickered slowly bathing the candy pearl red car in growing light. Alice's heart skipped a beat as the seductive curves and lines of the Viper became clear. Alice glanced down at the key in her hand and only just realized it had the word Dodge on it.
"We have stunned her silent." Joe said as he and little Joe walked into the light.
Katie put a hand on Alice's shoulder. "Don't just stand here, go check it out."
Alice recognized the body kit Katie made for the car instantly. She gently ran a couple fingers along the passenger side front fender as she walked around it. Near invisible panel gaps, flush mounted door handles. The only hard lines were the near knife edge of the vertical parts on the rear spoiler. She could see everything reflected clearly in the pearl candy. Twin mat black three inch exhaust tips exited just in front of the black chrome wheels. Bare carbon fiber air diffuser tucked and flowed neatly into the custom rear bumper. She bit her lip as she walked around to the driver's side of the car.
"What is she thinking?" Katie asked quietly.
"I don't think it has sunk in yet. But I can tell you she really, really likes it." Jenny said quietly. She recognized the look in Alice's eyes, it was one of excitement and lust.
Joe walked over and pulled the black chrome hood pins and slowly opened the hood. "This is where we have done things a little different." Joe said as Alice stood next to him.
"Oh my god..." Alice said almost to softly to hear. With very few exceptions on some components. The massive 8.3 liter was not just black, it was light absorbing black. It was hard to tell what some components were they all blended together in that beyond mat flat finish. Little things like the fuel rails and fuel lines were painted the pearl candy and stood out against the motor. The engine sucked air through an air filter on either side of the heads. The open elements drawing all the air it wanted through the large ram air hood.
Joe closed the hood and re pined it. He reached over and put Alice's thump on the remote start button. "This is the coup de gra." Joe pressed the start button.
The giant motor quickly came to life. The full twin pipe race exhaust growled and rumbled as only something as massive the 8.3 liter V-10 could. The low whine of the twin turbos adding a turbine engine sound to the guttural rumble.
Katie and Joe each put and arm around Alice. "This is our little present to you for your first place and engagement." Katie said.
Alice looked down at the key still in her hand. "It's mine?" She asked softly.
Katie closed Alice's hand around the key. "All your's."
The twins each stood on either side of the front of the car. "With the tune Little Joe loaded, it is putting 1033 horse power to the wheels." DJ said.
"All four wheels, through a seven speed gear box." TJ said.
"A thousand horse power???" Alice stuttered, her legs had grown a little weak and embarrassing as it was, her panties were soaked. She didn't care as it all finally sank in they really did just give her a twin turboed, all wheel drive super car.
Jenny was a bit jealous, that a car could get Alice this excited. But she could tell from Alice's movements and tone, she was really turned on. Which it was one of the little quirks Jenny loved about Alice, it took more than a few double A batteries to really get her going. "Well quit standing there and lets go."
"Where?" Alice asked.
"Does it matter?" Jenny asked with a wink. Instantly the sweet little Alice turned in to the little road demon she was.
"I didn't think you usually encouraged her." Katie said.
Jenny stood on her tip toes and whispered in Katie's ear. "I do when it leads to fucking. And trust me, we will be doing a lot of it when we get home."
