after death
My eyes open up slowly. It is still dark outside. I lean over to turn on a light switch. It does not turn on. "There is still not an ounce of power." I mutter as I as I roll out of bed there is a thud as someone else falls out of bed. "Are you okay?" I shout down the hall. I can hear muffled cursing down the hall. "I'll take that as a yes." I mutter as I stand up. "Is there still no power?" Someone asks as they come to my door. "No good morning?" I ask as I drag a shirt over my head. "Yes but I was more concerned about the lack of power, Alex." They say. "You are a very benevolent leader aren't you, Marcus?" I ask looking at him. He chuckles as he stretches. "I care more about your gut than if you are having a good morning" He says. "Why you can cook without power?" I say looking at him. "Besides would the more pressing matter be where did all of the adults go?" He says.
You can probably already figured out the biggest problems. The power shut off, and all the adults disappeared. Nobody knows why all we know is that there was a flash and Poof everyone was gone. Nothing with power has ran in the last two weeks. We are caring for a small kid. The rate at which we are moving because of her is very slow, but Marcus does not like the thought of leaving her behind so she is here to stay. We are trying to get New York City, New York, from Looneyville Texas. We are currently walking. Since the power went out nothing that, required electricity is working right now. Next farm we pass I want to procure some horses. I don't know what everyone else will say about this but oh well.
"Pick up your gun and let's go!" Marcus says as he finishes cleaning the stuff from breakfast. "Who disappeared and left you in charge?" I say jokingly. "I think it was you." He says standing behind me. "Where did the short people go?" I ask as I hear a scream resonate from outside. "That was outside!" Marcus says grabbing a knife. I rush out the door before he reaches the door I fire off a wild shot to scare off whatever it is. I skid to a halt as I see the biggest wolf. The wolfs fur is jet black with bright red eyes it is easily 150 pounds. It jumps at me. I dive out of the way, I fire off a shot. It hits the leg wolf. It yelps and runs off. "We should probably get moving." Marcus says. "You think." I say standing up. "Go help Malayan." He says. "I am." I say as I walk over to her. She is shivering. "You okay?" I ask holding out my hand. She nodes her head as I help her up. "I want my Mom." She says. "I thought that the fence was electric?" Marcus says. "No power equals any electricity." I say as I lift Malayan on to my back.
"If we can get some horses we can move faster than on foot." I say. "Why horses?" Marcus asks looking at me. "They are faster for one thing." I say. "What if I don't like horses?" Marcus says looking at me. "Then we can leave you behind." I say as I start walking away. "What about supplies?" He yells over his shoulder at me. "They can carry more than we could alone." I say. "Okay I get it. But why can't we get a car?" He asks. "The first car that we hot-wired did it start up?" I ask him. "Why can't we try another?" He asks as we pass by a car. "Sure why not." I say as I put down Malayan. I open the car door I turn the keys the engine turns over sluggishly. "Horses it is." He says as he starts walking away. Five hours later we come across a farm. There are horses here. We get some and start heading east.
Three months later we are in New York. It has begun to snow. There are a few People here above twenty-three they tell us that "There is a strange UFO thing a couple hours from here. That no one that has went to it has been back." We leave Malayan in New York and start heading for it. We don't know if we will survive but we have to see what is there. It might help with the power and the missing adults.
We were wrong whatever it was it had nothing to do with the power. Marcus died during the encounter. I fell lighter since then. I feel like something has been lifted from my shoulders. I am going to rest for a little while and move on. I hear voices in the back ground they seem cheerful I am going see what they want.
