A New World Part 4

(Castro's view)

The air in the council was both thick of tension and fear...fear of the humans. For the whole night the elders haven't left my fathers hut they've been talking-...or rather screaming their concerns with each other. I haven't slept either both because I was listening carefully to the elders concerns and how loud they scream I wouldn't be able too.

It was still fresh in my mind...seeing Collin and those humans with those weird...fire sticks....the metal ones having holes from out of nowhere appear in them....what are those things they carry?

The area where the metal ones attacked have numerous holes in the wall and the surrounding tepees. Some were completely torn apart and cannot be replaced or fixed. Not to mention the strange things left after each fire bolt the fire sticks left. Some of the tribals picked them up and I swear my eyes must be playing jokes because...in front of all of us...on a little altar...is gold.

It looks like gold but they are in the shape of cylinders . thousands of them were on the ground when the smoke cleared. Each of them hot to the touch but now they are cold enough to touch with ease.

Though we did find some that were different from the others. Some were different sizes then the rest and some of them had these blunt pointed ends colored brownish orange. They were slightly heavier then the other cylinders. What are these things?

My mind that had once succeeded in drowning out the noise of the others was starting to lose and the elder's loud concerns were now becoming clear in my ears.

"This...is some sort of sorcery like the metal ones have. It is not the same but it is similar!" A tired panicked tiger elder said rubbing his eyes but he looked determined to keep up with the others.

"The metal ones fire arrows leave only a single burned hole in the prey. Every-EVERY single android had dozens of these holes going through the androids. Imagine what would happen if one of our warriors was attacked in the same way" A leopard elder said calmly but hoping to make his point clear to the others.

"The androids can take many of our arrows as well." A wolf elder said but all the others immediately showed their displeasure by the comment.

"Can our arrows spark fire and leave holes the size our fists in the metal ones?!" Was the only comment I heard from the closest elder next to me.

Father was in the middle and he too looked as distraught and tired as the rest of them. The shaman Akia was examining every detail of the human's cylinders. Her eyes strained, we must sleep but the others are too concerned to let this matter pass even for a second.

"Do you see Chief Teryal?! Look at what the furless visitors have brought us! A metal one attack in years of peace! Our people are terrified by the humans! The warriors even shake when we mention their weapons!" An elder cheetah screamed.

"SO I HAVE BEEN TOLD MANY TIMES BEFORE!" My father screamed as it was...scary seeing this side of my father. Zio looked just as surprised as me but I wanted to blame it on the lack of sleep. How can the humans sleep as if nothing happened?!

Obviously Collin was advise not to attend this meeting I'm told...or I wonder if anyone told him of the meeting at all. I could only imagine what he'd feel like if he hear all of this.

I-I'm conflicted in my own mind...I asked to be his friend and he accepted but...that...fire stick thing. I saw him screaming in a bloodlust rage at the metal ones, it made my fur tingle with fear as I saw him rip apart the metal ones but he wasn't anywhere near them!...are they like some superior slingshots the children play with?! Instead of using rocks and leaving a bruise they use pointed gold cylinders and leave holes in the target!

"Brother....I don't know how much longer I can stay up." Zio said next to me and he was slightly moving about as if ready to collapse. I had to give him a good shake but he came too.

This is torture, we're afraid of them lets just admit it! They must know we are terrified of them! I know the elders fear a takeover but...if the humans had those before why not use them?

"Maybe-...we get them during their sleep!" A crazed elder said as now I feared the lack of sleep was getting to our heads.

"We sneak in and-"

"WAKE YOURSELF TRININ!" Father said as the elder went silent but still kept that crazed face. Father was looking concerned that others would join the crazed elder's thoughts if it meant sleeping sooner.

"We have expressed our concerns all night...and none of us have come up with a real idea!...we must call on the human elder to explain himself-" My father suggested but to our amazement. "AND LET HIM ENTER WITH THAT FIRE STICK! IT WOULD BE THE DEATH OF ALL OF US!!" An elder fox scream as everyone else joined in with the concern. Father tried to calm them but with their screaming voices he had to yell louder...eventually all he was doing was adding to the voices.

It was so loud that it made my head ache. Just shut up please...Just let us sleep! JUST LET US SLEEP! SHUT UP! SHUT-

A sudden load cry came from Boris as everyone went silent. He was up with us and looked just as concerned as everyone else. I can tell the image of that huge human wielding that massive fire stick was on his mind...I'm thinking Boris thinks he might not be able to fight that huge human.

Then Boris's face showed great fatigue. The cry took a lot of his remaining energy and then we looked into the flame that was burning lowly...

"Look at us..." Akia said as everyone looked at her.

"This is what the first people must have felt like when we fought with each other....we've become the foolish ones." She said as a few looked like they wanted to argue but her words stuck to their minds.

But there was something on her face...something that was troubling her. I couldn't tell if it was the lack of sleep or if she was truly distraught with something. I could tell she was going to say something important...and not good.

"There is a secret only the shamans know and share down...only in times of great emergency can we speak of this. You all know that the metal ones fought us long ago correct?" She questioned and we all nodded. She took a deep breath in and tried her best to calmly say.

"We don't know if the metal ones first came in war...or in peace." She said as everyone suddenly was wide awake.

"What?" A few people said

"Our tribes were greedy and panicked...we don't know if the tribes were attacked...or if we attacked the metal ones first." She said as everyone was silent by this information.

"We couldn't share this because we know now that if the metal ones ever came in peace they clearly do not want it now. Ask yourselves...why do they keep surviving? Our tribes are in peace, there are no fights, no wars...yet the metal ones still attack villages that have done nothing! When I was told this it made me fear that 'we' did something to them that made them want to fight us to their bitter end. Even after the white phoenix burned almost half of our world...they still fought on!" She exclaimed as I could tell this was on her mind a lot.

"We say they are meant to keep us in check but it has been thousands of years my elders! We only have different ideals now!...I-I'm sorry I shouldn't have spoken out of place Chief Teryal." She apologized to father

"It is alright Akia...what are you saying though? You wouldn't share this unless you had a wise suggestion." Father asked and we waited for her idea.

"The humans came down with few numbers...but...rumors in the village say they have a planet to themselves...a planet my elders. Filled with who knows how many of them and those fire sticks. If we attacked them and if their home planet found out...we wouldn't be dealing with just a few dozen...but an army numbering what the metal ones had before the white phoenix." She said as it made my blood turn to ice...

A-An army...of those...those people...such a force could be equal to the white phoenix!

"Castro..." Akia said as everyone looked at me and my heart felt like it stopped. W-What? Why is she asking me about something? Why did she address me?!

"People saw you talking and walking with the human elder. You must tell me...what did you talk about? How did he talk? Do they seem willing to attack us in the same rage they gave the metal ones?! What happened between you two?!" She begged getting on her knees. A few of the elders went over to her and we knew this had to end. This meeting was taking too much out of all of us...but everyone waited for my words....t-they looked at me...ever since Collin defended me-...Collin...

I cleared my thought and stood.

"We talked about the village. At first it was the layouts and sections...Collin even pointed out some weaknesses." I told them and they all looked terrified...I can't say I blame them...if they knew the weaknesses it made things worse...but...

"But...I must defend the humans right to stay here." I said as everyone gasped.

"What?"

"D-Did he say?!"

"Why?!"

Everyone including father and my brother looked at my decision with shock...I stood while shaking and I breathed in thinking I would be called crazy for what I was about to say but it must be said!

"The humans knew about our defenses a day ago...If they wanted to attack while we slept they would have but they didn't! Collin knew the villages weakness yet he didn't exploit it! He didn't make any demands! " I said before I started walking around passing each kneeling elder.

"When our village was attacked they came to 'our' aid! While a few of us were injured it could have been much worse! Iona said to me before this meeting that Collin personally saved her and a little wolf girl! "

"But others said they noticed the metal ones not attacking the humans!!!" Someone cried out but I answered back.

"But they still came to our aid!" And it silenced any argument back to me.

"They still risked their lives to save 'our' home. They have made no additional demands they have not demanded us to leave! They have asked for nothing except to live with us." I said realizing this would only make them question

"Why are you defending Collin Castro?" Father questioned not in the demanding anger way...but curious way. Part of me wanted to sit back down thinking I had already said too much....But....no...I won't be silent anymore.

"....He's my friend..." I answered as everyone went silent.

"You heard me...did he not help me prove my first metal one kill? Did he ever attack me even when alone in the woods? No! He helped me prove I was capable of fighting! He accepted my offer to be his friend when he could have rejected it!" I said proudly defending Collin's actions. I believe with all my heart he's a good person but I cannot deny his weapons scare me.

The elders went silent. A few had their jaws open stunned to see me, a pushover stand up to all of them. Any moment I was expecting them to start yelling about how dishonorable I was but I would quickly remind them how much they've done for me. I've known them my whole life and Collin has only known me for a few days...and he's done more for me then they ever have.

"You are sure he is not simply using you?" An elder questioned and I glared at him.

"Yes, I'm no fool Collin has asked for nothing except to live among us. He has not asked us about any secrets, any weaknesses, or any problems we have in the village. My elders....there is another concern that is on my mind though..." I said to the elders. I hope I'm not saying the obvious.

"The metal ones attacked with nearly 90...that's not a small skirmish...that's a takeover. Our warriors managed to kill only 6 as the humans killed the other 84. The metal ones have never known loss like that since when we first warred with them. The metal ones have rarely ever been fought back of territory they desire." I informed the elders and they looked amazed at my insight. Even father looked surprised by my wisdom.

"If we told them to leave our village would be helpless against another attack. The metal ones attacked with 90...but who's to say they will attack again with twice as many my elders? We couldn't hope to fight them back, even running away might not spare us from their wrath...the humans and their fire sticks would be our only hope to defend our home. That is why I believe they must stay." I said before sitting back down next to Zio. I suddenly felt a surge in my mind as if it asked me 'what did I just do? Castro the quiet pushover would never do anything like that! I looked up at the elders who were all looking at me stunned at my argument to keep Collin and the humans with us.

"My son...speaks the truth." My father said as the elders looked at him amazed by his decision.

"While it is unknown if the metal ones will try to take over Kanza again it would be best to keep the humans here as a precaution...but I am no blind child. The humans have weapons that could just as easily be turned against us. If they have promised to defend us we must make sure never to anger them. So far they haven't seemed to make any unreasonable demands...I... must speak to the human elder...where is Collin?" He asked out of nowhere and it caught us all off guard.

"Um he was advised not to attend this meeting but we have no idea where he is right now." An elder answered then father looked at me.

"Castro can you look for Collin?" Father asked and I nodded accepting the task.

"As for the rest of us we should retire for the day. I thank you for doing your duty and staying up through the night my elders. Get some well-deserved sleep and we will talk about the human elders answers tomorrow. Gods watch over us." He said as the elders answered back.

"Gods watch over us." And left for the day. As I stood up father went over to me and whispered.

"I want you here when I talk to Collin." He said as I didn't question him, I nodded again and left my father to his thoughts.

I exited my father's hut seeing the elders greet the sun with distain, obviously hating how they were going to have to walk over to their tepees to get their sleep. I think they are lucky since they have the right to go straight to sleep...I have to search for Collin. Oh I hope he's nearby.

I headed towards the human section of the village passing by my kinsmen thinking they were going to be panicked with the humans still living among us still. I was almost certain that they would surround the elders demanding that humans leave or scream they are metal ones in disguise....

But...there's none of that feeling here...In fact the villagers look at ease as if nothing happened. There are a few lifting heavy logs for the wall repair, and others ripping off parts of the metal ones which will be made into weapons but that's only uncommon labor.... they do not look worried or frightened at the least bit!

The children were still playing, the blacksmiths still creating weapons, the fisherman and farmers gathering food...as if they did not even think about what happened yesterday! Surely they must see why the elders would be concerned with the humans and the fire sticks!...but they don't...what is happening?

As I was walking towards the human section I noticed Iona walking with a few children and she was talking to them. Iona looked too into her story to notice me so I decided to listen in and follow her for awhile.

"-The only thing standing between me and the little girl was my old spear. In the distance I see 2 other metal ones approaching I wanted to tell the little girl to run but she looked so scared that she couldn't move. I was prepared to fight to the end and-"

"And Kerak came in right?" A happy boy asked. The answer brought a frown to Iona's face.

"Yes...and if it is okay with you children do not mention him around me for awhile...we are no longer seeing each other." She said as it surprised even me. Kerak and her are no longer in love? What happened?

"Lets just say...no Kerak never arrived. Then as I tried to strike the metal one down it broke my spear leaving me defenseless against it...but I would not abandon the child unlike 'someone' else. As I made my final wishes towards the gods came a thundering roar. So powerful was that roar that the metal one was struck off his feet and his ears were blown out...as in a clear hole going straight through it." She said as the children gasped as such a powerful tale.

"W-What made that roar? Was it the humans?!" A girl asked as Iona smiled.

"Yes. It came from the human elder no less. Thanks to him he took down the other two metal ones slowly approaching, giving the little girl and I a chance to escape." She said as-as I couldn't believe it...Iona said that Collin saved her in her time of need!

"That is when the other humans came right? I still remember what sounded like fast beating drums in the distance and smoke as if a wildfire had spread!" An older boy asked.

"Yes the humans with their magic fire sticks came swiftly to the villages aid. The metal ones have thick skin but they were no match for the humans fury. When the smoke cleared all that remained of the metal ones were there hole littered bodies...and numerous gold cylinders on the ground!" She said as everyone went into a frenzy.

"Gold?! As in one of the most prized creations of the Azah?!" A girl said loudly as Iona smiled.

"Oh yes gold, the elders are talking about what to do with it as we speak...now go little ones make sure to tell the others that the humans saved us yesterday...oh and don't forget about the special event!" She said as I tilted my head...special event? What does that mean?

"So Castro are you going to follow me everywhere like when you first wanted my affection?" She asked as it made me blush in embarrassment...yeah I did but it should show how much I desired her before. But whatever romantic feelings I had for her were gone now. Even if Kerak was no longer her desire she told me she thinks of me as a brother, not much more you can do at that point.

"N-No...I wanted to listen to your story...H-How do you feel about the humans Iona?" I asked wondering if maybe all this time she felt honor bound to speak well of them.

"They saved us...I can only imagine that the elders do not think the same but...Castro I was there. I saw 3 of the metal ones and that alone made me freeze in fear....looking at their hollow faces...void of any feeling...I remember the tales my father would say their shining skin red with blood but they were not even fazed by it...But Collin and the humans. They rushed in to save us while it would have been easier to run. I've heard the rumors that the metal ones weren't attacking the humans and I don't believe them, even if they were true the humans abandoned what could have been an advantage to them to save us!" She said proudly as it made me smile. Good she felt the same as me. I don't want to feel like the only person defending the humans right now.

"I know what they've done for us and I agree with you Iona...but my father wants to speak with Collin the human elder. Have you seen him?" I asked as she shook her head.

"No but you can ask some of the other humans...something is...different about them today for some reason." She said as it made me wonder 'something different'? What could that mean?

"Different how?" I asked.

"Its like...there are more open if that makes sense. I think their loincloths must have shrinking or something. Its strange, go look for yourself." She suggested as I guess I had to see for myself. I thank Iona and went towards where the hole was.

Already repairs were being made. I saw some of the woodcutters and warriors preparing the massive tree branches to be placed back into the ground. These trees are thick and strong, they are the only thing that protects us from the metal ones. Perity gives to us and protects us and in return we worship her, it's the same here for all the tribes in the area.

I could never imagine how single metal ones could have the power to break through them. We've heard of tales about metal ones blasting down entire woods with their arm cannons. I never thought they were true but after yesterday how easily that section was destroyed...the image of spraying wood in the air still haunts me. Its hard to believe I took down one of them.

...Maybe not even one...I know Collin defended my claim to everyone in the council but I don't feel as strong as I thought I would be. The metal one I killed was already injured and had its back turned, it's about as pathetic as a kill as one could get.

I can't believe I already doubted myself after only a day. When my time would come I thought I was be parading my skill in front of everyone but the humans fire sticks...I have no doubt they could kill a dozen in a few seconds.

Here I thought I would help Collin, show him around and teach him how to properly kill the metal ones but now I'm afraid if I anger him in anyway it would be a death sentence...

But Collin doesn't seem the type to easily anger. A leadership quality is to be calm under stressful situations....its just I'm sure if I want to be around him when that time comes.

Then one of the humans caught my eye. He grab a few of those dirt spears I saw them using before and he looked a bit tired from the hot weather...but there is something odd with their appearance now!

They were no longer wearing those weird black loincloths. Most of them had changed color like to white, red, or blue and had considerable shrunk in size. Do their outfits change with their moods maybe?!

I examined them more closely noticing that most of them did have fur on their arms!...but still no where near as much as the thinnest of the elders. I have no idea how these creatures could survive the winter but I am more interested in their sudden change of appearance.

Some of them were still wearing the black loincloths but looked a bit displeased with it. I even saw one sniff himself and gave what looked like a face of disgust. Then another human approached him holding up this...odd looking blanket. It was white but so small! I can literally see 4 holes in it! The thing looked hardly big enough to cover the man's chest.

The man oddly smiled when my people would have frowned unless it was for some infant. The man then went into one of the tepees and moments later emerged with...huh? What the? He's wearing a blanket around him?....wait.

Could it be close to the vests hunters wear when hunting the metal ones? Do these humans cover themselves for a reason? I don't understand why they would wear extra clothes in such warm weather but I can't speak against their ways.

Some are still carrying those sticks though...I can't believe when I first saw them that they were capable of-of that! A small army of metal ones wiped out by the humans!

This must be some form of magic! Akia told me once that the ancient tribes had destructive magic but they were lost when the white phoenix destroyed most of the metal ones. Are the humans some sort of magic race?! Could they have power close to the phoenix itself?!

But something concerns me with that thought...if they are magic users how come they look so physically capable? The humans were lifting the tree branches that would make the new wall...They look just as strong as us. Shaman's are only the wisest people in the tribe and very incapable of fighting....but these humans look like they could fight us in the physical way!

I thought maybe those black loincloths were hiding a very slim body and that they were meant to confuse enemies that they were strong...but they look just as physically intimidating as us! I can clearly see the curves on their muscles and they would make good warriors in our tribe. I wonder if they know how to use axes and spears?

I started wondering...maybe these humans weren't the mystical type? Just because they wield their fire staffs doesn't mean they created them. Maybe their world is very hostile and the mystical ones created those staffs to help their kind fight.

Could that be why Collin looks so tough? Is that black loincloth nothing but a disguise? A part me thought about how the elders might use this information to their advantage but this is just some observations and assumptions.

The only way to know to find out is by asking Collin. I approached a human I had seen before, I think his name was Travis. Travis was helping making the tepees we lost as I walked up to him and asked. "Um hello?" I said softly and the human jumped and turned back startled by me.

"Wow! Jeez...don't sneak up on me."

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to. I was wondering where is your leader? Collin?" I asked as the first question was answered with a confused pause. Travis then nodded realizing the question.

"Oh yeah Collin volunteered to help wash our clothes with some of the others. If you ask me he should have worked with the wood." He said as I tilted my head confused.

"You know because its hard to scrub out stains without-...you know never mind he said he would be at a stream somebody showed him." He said as I instantly remembered the place. The stream I showed him yesterday! Hmm yes that water would be perfect to clean loincloths. I guess these humans must wash loincloths like us.

I thanked the human for his time and headed out to find Collin. I'll watch for more detailed things about him. His figure, his personality, and his leadership are all important things to know about him and the humans right now. Knowing him he's probably having a nice time just listening to the steady stream of water and relaxing his mind about everything that happened yesterday....

(Collin's view)

"WHY -WON'T -YOU-GET-CLEEEEEAAANNN!?!?" I screamed in frustration in my mind! Jesus I knew trying to wash clothes like 100 years ago would be tough but fricken black stains never go away!

I along with a majority of the women and a few men took our clothes and brought them to the stream Castro showed me yesterday. One of the things I never considered was what we would wear in this place.

Alexander and a few others took a Humvee and headed back to the plane to salvage anything remotely useful to us right now. Mostly we got clothes and a few extra clips of ammo I'm told.

We had to change our clothes sometime I, along with all the others, smelled awful. All the sweat of adrenaline during all the action mixed in with all the smells of the jungle and the crash made us smell like skunks.

Still as hard as we have it there's something else I never did consider. I looked back at all the surviving women in their little circle talking softly to themselves and I could only wonder what they must be thinking.

While there are over 100 human survivors here only 8 were women. Flight attendants and government workers...think about how stranded they must feel right now. I wonder what Paige would have thought about all this...gods she would be frightened but I know with time she would have done her best and hardly notice. Rest in Peace Paige...

I don't know how these tribals and our ancestors did it. Washing clothes without a washing machine. I prayed that at least one of them on the plane still worked but they were all busted.

Most of the women were in their 30's or later. They probably have families, children wondering why mom hasn't come home. It makes my heart feel so bad for them. I think I have to take special care of the women here just so they don't breakdown from all the stress and chaos.

We had enough clothes to last everyone about one week before we had to wash so I think its only fair if we wash them every 3 or 4 days or so. Maybe I did make a mistake choosing to help wash some clothes instead of chopping up some wood.

I washed my load on a flat board and a scrubby we found in the plane and was working on my own suit...the worst one of the lot. So right now I'm wet, sweaty, shirtless and completely fed up with this suit! 300 dollars! Ruined!

Ha...its kinda funny...thinking about stuff like this when we are on an alien planet and living among a new species. Its true we were extremely lucky to be here and have to only worry about things like this instead of fighting just to survive.

The last words left a bad taste in my mouth...fighting to survive...I wonder what the tribals think of us right now? When all the mayhem was over, when we fired the last shot into the last android the tribals just looked at us in shock and awe.

I know they are terrified of our weapons and us. Can you blame them? When we were trying to negotiate how peaceful and kind we were, the androids played that against us. Now the tribals saw how deadly and dangerous we are. I wonder what Castro thinks right now?

The husky had been on my mind for awhile. He was a new friend and I must seem like a dangerous monster to him. Almost like an average person being friends with a kid who's family works in the mafia.

I think right now its going to be impossible to play "we're a kind and peaceful species" card. I think its only going to be a matter of time before we're asked to leave, Travis and I will try our best of course to stay here and think of ways they can use us but what happened yesterday might have put the tribals on the path to hating us.

I was still washing my suit before I heard noises from the forest behind me....I wasn't stupid I along with the few males brought pistols with us in case the androids made another sneak attack. I wanted to listen to my instincts and point my gun at the source of the noise but I only turned around to see-

"Ah Castro. Nice to see you again." I greeted him placing my wet suit on a nearby board before standing up and turning to him.

Though oddly instead of talking he looked at me as if dumbfounded by something. He looked at his body and brushed his fur before looking back at me...it wasn't in my eyes he was looking at my chest and muscles.

I looked at my chest hoping there wouldn't be leeches or who knows what else but my body was spotless. It was a bit wet but it was clean. Then I figured it out....they haven't seen us shirtless yet.

That's right Castro and the others thought we wore these strange loincloths they called them. They didn't know what we looked like underneath our clothes. Castro isn't looking scared or anything but he was staring at my chest a lot.

"Is it scary? I hope its not disturbing to see me like this." I said clearly concerned about Castro's personal feelings. I bet for them its like seeing someone naked and its making Castro uncomfortable.

(Castro's view)

I-.....I can't believe it. His arms ....his chest...and his back.... they're all bigger than mine. I thought I would be the more physically imposing friend, I've trained all my life, built my body and worked tirelessly to be fit and here Collin is with already an admirable body.

He has well defined abs and pecks, not something like Boris but still bigger than mine. He must have trained for years to get those arms in shape, he must have lifted the heaviest things and practiced with a melee weapon during the night.

I swear these humans are the ultimate fighters of our world right now. Every single one of them has the potential to become a hero in our world....Collin a hero. Yes I could see him with a machete standing over the defeated metal ones...wearing tribal armor....a bit dirty with his well toned chest shining against-

W-Wait...what was that thought?! I-I must only be jealous of his body...yes...that must be it. Or it could be envy whatever it is its not well 'that'...it couldn't be.

Besides its strange to see such a chest without fur. We know we have fur but we like it. The fur isn't that thick so muscles do bulge out against the fur. For these humans its so odd. They have the same placed muscles yet there is hardly a spec of fur on them! I notice Collin had a little patch of fur around the area where our hearts would be at but otherwise it was smooth....perfectly smooth.

Smacking myself internally again I had to remember my task.

"Um it's a bit odd forgive my silence. My father wished to speak with you privately." I told him and he seemed a bit surprised.

"Really? When I tried to show up earlier today I was stopped and told I couldn't enter....is it about what happened yesterday?" He asked with a frown and I nodded. There was no point lying to him.

"Yes the elders were arguing about the metal ones attack and how....you defended us." I said as Collin stood up and looked through a basket for something. After some rummaging he took out this white blanket and like the humans back in the village wore it all over his chest.

"I see...I was afraid the worse might come. Will you come with me? Or least walk with me to your fathers?" He asked as I happily nodded.

He just can't be a bad person. They are odd and very different but they are not bad people. Collin grabbed one of those blunt sticks but it was very small, hardly the size of a knife and placed it at his like a hunter would do with an axe.

Collin nodded at the few guards he brought to the stream before following me back to the village. He tried to get me to talk and I answered to the best of my abilities but my eyes were constantly looking at his weapon.

"Is everything going okay with you Castro?"

"Everything is fine."

"...Are you enjoying having a kill to your name right now?"

"Its okay I guess."

After a few moments he stopped and I hardly noticed before he asked.

"Are you afraid of us?...are you afraid of me Castro?" He asked and it made me stop but I had to keep moving. "What? No come on we have to get to my fathers." I said taking a few more steps but Collin saw right through me.

"You don't have to lie Castro. I know when people just say things when they are secretly afraid about something." He said and...I don't know I could tell he knew from experience about that. I let out a nervous sigh before looking back at him.

"I'm...a bit afraid of you now. Those weapons...what I saw. Collin you were screaming hatred while destroying the metal ones with those strange sticks. Its not just what happened with your weapons...its what happened to you back there that also frightened me." I said and Collin looked guilty as if he now regretted asking.

"I see....I'm sorry Castro. I didn't mean to scare you back there. What happened to us on the plane....the people we lost...and thinking that it would happened here again it made us so angry. We didn't do anything to the metal ones Castro. We were minding our own business when they attacked. If you really need to know, yes...my people do get angry. They know what revenge is, they have taken action against aggressors. I am no different than them. I thought about Paige and all the others I saw dead. I thought about all the mayhem the androids would have brought to my world I thought about what happened to me in the past when-....." He said before pausing and I both a bit afraid and curious.

"When what?"

"...Nothing. Its something I can't talk about. There are a few things I want to keep to myself. But Castro." He said before walking up to me and grabbed my shoulders. I couldn't believe I just let him do it. Only with my family, Akia, and few others do I ever allow them to place their shoulders on me.

Why does it feel so right?

A stray thought said as I looked up at the human who looked as saddened as I did during my worst days. Collin was making sure I won't look away as he said.

"I want to show your people that we can be trusted. I trust you Castro, I don't know how but I know you've been helping me right? You said it yourself you were more afraid of my violent outburst than my own weapon. You thought only about 'me'...if you were really afraid you would think I was the same as all the others...but you didn't...You defended me at the meeting didn't you?" He asked as it made me jolt. C-Could they read minds as well?!

"H-How did you know?" I asked as Collin smiled softly.

"Friends know about these things Castro. Even though we've only know each other for a few days you've been the best friend I've ever had." He said as my heart was pounding for some reason. "You....You really mean that right?"

"Of course I do Castro. I trust you with all my heart." He said

I thought part of me would still want to be cautious about him but there's something about his words, the way he holds me and looks me right in the eye. I can't sense anything bad, Akia must be right to say we can trust them.

"You know Collin....even if all the others in the village do not consider you one of us. Just know that I do." Was all I could think to say at this moment. Collin smiled and patted my shoulder before we talked again like we did yesterday.

I shared some stories about my adventures when training. How I found this beautiful flower growing at the highest tree or how I swam along another stream catching fish with nothing but a sharp stick. Collin was the only one who showed interest in my stories and I thank him for that.

The walk back to the village seemed shorter with someone to talk to, well I do most of the talking and he just listens. I should ask him about his personal experiences. It would be so wondrous to hear about things that I thought only possible in dreams!

(Collin's view)

Jeez Castro feels like my complete opposite right now. From what I can gather he's an outgoing, fun loving and completely random person. Not me I'm the kind of person who enjoys writing on his computer all day.

I mean sure I go out when I practice with guns and go to class but the computer is where I truly let off some steam. I don't need the Internet but it was a luxury not a need at the moment. Besides why would I want a computer when I'm talking to a new species?

I suppose I also work out sometimes. The CIA approached me once and they require a physical exam so I went to the gym a bit to get myself in shape. I imagine those workouts must seem like child's play to what these tribals go through.

When we entered the village I did notice something was a bit off. The tribals were all going into their tents and whispering among themselves. It might be just me but I could have sworn I even heard some giggles. The few that were out were all working on food and preparing wood for some reason.

Travis approached me also noticing the tribals odd behavior, he got right inbetween Castro and I and whispered.

"Collin the tribals have been acting weird all morning. When we were done fixing the wall they were talking among themselves and are now acting like this. I don't know what they are planning but I've got a bad feeling. Should we arm ourselves just in case?" Travis asked and I took a moment to consider it.

Would the tribals just ambush us right now? I don't know it doesn't feel like an ambush. No weapons were being prepared, they are cooking some food right in front of us, and they didn't attack my little party first, which would be the smarter plan. Taking out a leader would make us panic but they only sent Castro.

"No. Just go about your business. The tribals might be only preparing some ritual we don't know about. Arming ourselves would look bad." I whispered toTravis and he paused before nodding understanding my decision. He's still getting use to the idea that I'm in charge.

Travis left like that and thankfully Castro didn't seem to hear our private conversation. I smiled at him before nonchalantly saying.

"He was just giving me a checkup on everything." I told him and Castro accepted it.

We walked to his father's hut and entered it to see Teryal, Akia and Boris. I walked forward to them all and bowed in respect to the tribals. Castro was about to leave but his father motioned for him to stay. Hmm...if that's so I can't imagine its anything too bad they plan if the leaders son would be allowed to stay.

Teryal stood up and started walking around me and Castro. Its odd being stalked and judge but a lion, it makes me think I'm in Africa about to be tackled and eaten up. Castro's father stopped in front of me before speaking.

"Collin. As you know its thanks to you and your followers that the metal ones attack was annihilated. You have my gratitude but...I'm afraid there is a new concern that makes even my most bravest of warriors shake in fear." He said before pointing towards me...but not exactly at me more at my side....my pistol.

"Your weapons." He said as I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

"Your people killed over 80 metal ones while out warriors only had time to kill 5. Your weapons blow out fire and leave massive holes in the metal ones the likes of which I have never seen. None here, nor do I think anywhere have this kind of power. I, the elders, along with most of the other villagers I'm sure are terrified about your power. You've come into our home by destroying part of the forest and now you have these weapons that only the metal ones can match. I do not know what to think about these worries...so I must ask you and I want you to answer them honestly." The chief said and I nodded showing I was ready.

"Will you ever attack our village?"

"Never sir. You've given us far too much to make me ever consider that."

"Do you ever plan to use your weapons against my warriors and people?"

"Never against sir. I would only use these weapons to protect and serve you." I said feeling like I was in some military camp.

"Can I trust you?"

"You can....and if you do not believe me then ask your son." I said letting Castro speak on my behalf.

Castro was caught off guard by my statement. I trust Castro, he hasn't done anything to make me think otherwise. If there was going to be any chance for peace and stability between our species trust must be present. Teryal looked at Castro but not as stunned as I thought the chief would be. Almost as if he was glad I had asked Castro instead of constantly pleading with him.

"Castro...do you believe we can trust them?" He asked and I waited.

I swear every moment felt like a year. Almost like back at Harvard where I would just stand on the podium hoping my speech went well and receive a good grade. I would have to think Castro is not use to having his decision mean much after all he did say the more kills of androids you have the more you represent power. He only just got his first kill and I was placing a heavy decision on him. But I would be sure to do the same for him when the time comes.

"Yes father. I trust Collin fully. He and his people are here to defend us." He said as I let out a sigh of relief before looking back at Castro with a soft smile, thanking him for his trust. He returned the smile until his father spoke again.

"Hmm good. I knew I could not be the only one." He said and it made me curious by what he meant.

"What do you mean not the only one?"

"I cannot explain it but...I just 'feel' there is some important role that your people will play. What role that is I cannot tell but these concerns didn't feel like the reason why your people are here Collin." The chief said before the shaman spoke after him

"I must agree with the chief's decision. While I have not had much interaction with your people there is something about them...something important. The gods give us clear messages usually but strangely your being here has not been made clear. I beginning to wonder if maybe the gods themselves do not know the role you play yet." The shaman said as it both confused and interested me further to learn more about their beliefs and feelings.

Do they go about the chief's wishes and feelings regardless of evidence for it? It might very well be possible that their senses are right. I've heard on TV shows that animals have senses beyond humans able to sense danger or bad weather from far away. Who's to say with these similar beings that those senses were heighten, that they could vaguely but accurately predict individual futures.

"But Teryal. Even if you demanded it to the elders there would still be uncertainty among them. They would go about your wishes but they would be constantly paranoid." She said as Teryal looked saddened but not surprised by Akia's words.

"I know. But what I think they fail to see is that its not the humans we should fear....its the weapons your people carry. I trust you Collin and along with your people but your weapons are far beyond anything we have. They are like magic...is it magic Collin?" he asked seriously.

I had to think carefully about my answer. I know there was always the safe scare tactic I could play, I could try to fool them that we are gods. But I knew better then that. Castro placed his faith in me and I will do the same for him. I will not lie and I place my trust in them.

"It is not magic. While I myself do not know all the parts of my weapon I will tell you all that I know." I said taking out my pistol and they all backed away as if it was going to randomly shoot out at them. I shouldn't do anything to scare them.

"May I...hold it?" The chief asked me and it surprised all of us. There was always that it would be too much for him to handle.

"Yes. Here hold it like this." I said going next to his arm on placing it firmly in his hand.

"The part your holding is what we call the grip. You alright?" I asked making sure I wasn't overwhelming him.

"I-Its so light. It feels like a dagger really!" He said as Castro and Akia were looking closely amazed to see their leader hold a foreign weapon to them.

"It feels like its one of the metal ones but not alive. " He said examining the pistol from every angle. I was nearby him of course if anything were to go wrong...and sadly something did.

"Oh? What's this? there is a hole here. I wonder whats inside it-"

"No wait!" I said quickly pushing the gun away. They all jumped at my sudden outburst as I realized something I should have before. I was such an idiot and it could have gotten him killed! Dammit Collin think ahead of these things.

"W-What? Did I do something wrong? Am I in danger?" The chief asked panic almost like he was in a bomb situation. I gently took the gun from him and unloaded the clip. The click from emptying the magazine intrigued them before I pulled back emptying the round in it. I didn't unload it when we were at the stream.

Jesus if he shot himself in the head I would be butchered by the vengeful warriors. The clicks and clangs of unloading the gun fascinated the shaman before handing back the chief the now emptied gun. I keep the bullet and magazine in my hands and I figured that would be the next thing to point out.

"This is probably what you really want to know, what really makes these things magic. We call them bullets, and when they are bunch together in this rectangle we call them a magazine or clip." I said, as the chief looked at the separate bullet then the magazine with curious eyes.

"Amazing...My people took a few of them during your battle with the metal ones but these cylinders looks different from the other ones. These ones are silver while the ones we collected were gold." He said as it surprised me.

"You know what gold and silver is?"

"Yes it is valued highly among our people but it is rare. It usually gets used for mating rituals or high renowned chiefs. I only have my gold ring." He said showing me a well-made gold ring. There were mysterious inscriptions on it that intrigued me but jewelry shouldn't distract me. Still it's interesting that their people value certain earthly materials as much as us.

"Interesting we do the same. Anyway right now that weapon which we call a 'pistol' is pretty much useless right now. It mind as well be a blunt dagger but most would use it as a club as it is." I told them as the chief held it the exact way I was thinking of.

"Here is something interesting I could show you. You see the little part at the end there?" I said pointing to the hammer part of the gun. The chief looked at it and waited for my orders.

"Pull it back." I said as he looked at me thinking he would break it.

"Nothing will happen except for some clicks." I reassured him as he used his thumb and two clicks were heard. This time they didn't jump they gasped in interest as if it were a toy but I had to reassure them it wasn't.

"This is the way to ready the 'pistol' for combat. You see that little curve there?" I asked pointing to the trigger. The chief nodded and I found it odd they weren't talking much.

"Is everything alright Teryal? Anything you want to say? Go ahead feel free to ask." I said before looking at Akia and Castro making them realize I meant all of them.

"I-Its just a lot to take in, so much preparation and parts. Are we nearly ready to use thee...pistol?" The chief asked as I smiled and nodded showing him he was right in naming it.

"Yep in fact if you pull that curve there, we call it a trigger, you'll hear a different click." I said as everyone backed away as if it were loaded I suppose its best but I know its not loaded. The gun was pointed downward so it shouldn't cause any harm. The chief cautiously scratched the trigger as if it was going to explode. Finally after beating back his caution he pulled it with his finger and a load 'click!' was heard Castro and Akia backed away but it didn't do anything.

"There you did it! That's how we shoot a pistol. Show me if you can do it again." I said testing his new knowledge and he did it perfectly on his own if a bit slow from caution.

"That's correct! Now if this was real combat you would need one of the 'magazines' in the gun. Here's how you ready the pistol for real. Hand me the pistol." I asked and Teryal handed me the gun.

I slowly showed him the large empty area under the grip and inserted the magazine.

"Now the important thing to remember is you need to pull this top part towards you. If you don't the pistol won't fire. Like this." I said slowly cocking the gun back and the gun was alive.

"Oh before I forget this part is also important." I said making sure I emptied the gun again and showed them the safety button.

"Do you see this little circle? This is what we call the safety button. Even if the pistol is readied like this it still won't fire until you push this thing. You see if you push this little button." I said pressing it and on the other side it popped out but with a red ring underneath it.

"Now it can be fired for real." I said stepping back placing the pistol back to my side as I let them take in all the information. Castro and Teryal were stunned while Akia looked fascinated by the pistol. She was taking mental notes I can tell.

"Wow Collin. I-Is all that necessary for all your weapons including the bigger ones?" Castro asked referring to the shotguns and rifles most likely.

"Actually no this one was one of the shortest....do you want to see what our weapons are capable of?" I asked as they looked caught off guard by the question.

"Yes I would! But I don't know what the others would say..." The chief said as I thought hard about this.

I could save time and ammunition by not showing them but this issue isn't going away like that. The tribals will definitely try to examine our guns in time and they will be clueless about them. There will be numerous incidents unless someone shows them how.

"Then let it be an open invitation! I'll gather a few guys and all our different types of weapons and we'll do some target practice and demonstrate them to you." I offered and both Castro and Teryal looked eager to see the weapons they once feared. Akia went off on her own before I could say anything to her.

I was going ahead with the plan. It's better if its resolved once and for all. Though like Castro and Teryal I worry what the others will think. Not just the elders but also my own men. Will they be comfortable shooting in front of tribals who might panic from the slightest sign of aggression?

I stopped walking for a moment and rubbed my eyes and forehead....maybe...maybe I'm overthinking this. We have to show them, they know what we can do and they need to know we fight for 'them'.

I went back to our section of the village seeing my comrades standing around and looking nervous. I bet it must feel very awkward, they don't know how to approach the tribals but they can't patrol the area with the guns or else the chaos we're trying to prevent will ensue. I had my responsibilities as leader to keep my mind busy, they have no idea what to do with their time.

Suddenly I felt a tug on my arm and I turned around to see the Asian boy! I hadn't seen him at all the last few days. I thought maybe he...gone...at the airplane battle but I was pleasantly surprised to see someone my age around.

"Oh hey its you um I ne-" I said before he started to lead me to his tepee.

"Please follow." He said and he didn't give me much of a chance to refuse.

"Um okay." I answered before he flopped open the leather door and inside I saw...

"What the-?" I asked him.

"I set up a place to examine these things. I'm a student who's studied all types of engineering, architecture, and technology so I thought I would make myself useful studying these things. I thought it was a good way to know what we're dealing with and how to pass the time until we're rescued...hopefully." He said rather quickly.

"Um okay. Why just me? Or have you shown this to everyone?"

"No just you. I asked a few men to lift the androids in here but that was it. I'm sure they know what I'm doing and I can't imagine they have any moral objections to it. I asked to keep it secret so hopefully just you, me, and a handful of others only know about this." He said defending himself rather formally. He was wearing a white-buttoned shirt and dark pants so he still looked as formal as we were in the plane crash.

"Why are you showing me this? I'm just a-"

"You are the leader right? Alexander told me the natives look at you as our leader so I thought it would be wise to share with you what I found out." The Asian boy said as I blinked at his preparedness of any question I asked.

"A-Alright what have you found out?" I asked as he went to one of the tables he had.

There were 3 of them, 2 of which are nearly whole but like the others had a lot of bullet holes in them. I'm surprised he could salvage anything to examine in them. The last one was ripped apart with some of our power tool laying around it.

"Well from observations it tells us some basic but curious things. First they are made of what appears to be some metal. It appears to be hard enough to stop a human fist but not hard enough to stop a bullet. I find that odd but not completely unbelievable that some robots could be made with more flexible materials rather than iron or steel."

"I find it odd that somehow they are shaped like us. They have 2 arms, two legs and everything...the chances of an intelligent robot alien species being the same shape as us are very slim or more likely nearly impossible." He said as I noticed all of this too nodding my head understanding his notes.

"I see. Did you find anything interesting inside them?" I asked

"Oh yeah tons of interesting things." He said rubbing his chin with his index and thumb. His words left me uneasy but we had to know what we were dealing with.

"I tried to examine the chest cavity to the best of my abilities. We don't have many proper tools for careful removal of sensitive materials that might lie inside. Here are some things I have found. First...wires. A lot of wires nearly all of which going up to the head. Kind of like the human nervous system which only adds to my previous so similar to humans observation. But look at this thing." He said pointing to an odd structure inside of the machine. It was shaped as a round-sided square and it was glowing red.

I reached my hand to touch it but the Asian boy quickly stopped me.

"Don't...its hot almost like lava. I think it might be the energy source of their lasers. Sadly most of the wires connected to this thing were damaged so it's difficult for me to be sure. There a bunch of other weird things inside its chest but I can't even guess what they are or what they are used for."

"I think we'll move on to the legs next. Fortunately they aren't as damaged as the rest of their limbs...unfortunately there is little I discovered in their legs. I noticed two things inside the ankles and one thing inside where their knees would be."

"Here look at this." He said pointing to the heel of the torn apart android.

I saw the Asian boy place his finger inside a hole created by a stray bullet then suddenly a blade came out of its heel! I jumped back thinking it was going to kill me but the Asian boy handled it very carefully.

"I found a way to activate a hidden blade underneath its heel."

"Amazing"

"The blade measures to 6 inches but it is unlike its arm blade. Its not shredded like the ones in its arm, I'll show you those later, They are perfectly smooth and shaped like a cone with the pointed end down. I think it could be used to...finish off prey by stomping on them but recently I found something else in the blade...a hooked extension."

"Why on earth would it have a hooked extension?" I asked.

"I have a theory...here look. I'll push the blade back in and set it on the ground. Now notice how the blade perfectly digs into the ground." He said as it was true. The blade went into the ground as if made for that purpose. "But with enough force as it is right now it can be taken out." He said pulling it back up with some force.

"But with the hook extension activated this time." He said repeating what he did before but then I heard a locking sound.

"It becomes nearly impossible to push these down. Try for yourself." He said kicking the leg but it hardly budged. I tried kicking it too but the thing was really in there!

"Jesus...so these things are capable of say...withstanding a tornado or something?"

"Its possible. I can only imagine its made for that purpose. Next are the springs also located in the ankles."

"They are extremely hard to force down meaning they can withstand a lot of pressure. I think it helps them jump and helps them land from large heights." He told me as I rubbed my forehead.

"Great so we can't push them over and they can't die from heights...so I guess pushing them off cliffs are out of the question. What other great news have you found out?" I asked sarcastically showing my arms as if welcoming any more bad news.

"I guess we'll move onto the arms. This is where a lot if not all of their killing potential comes from." He said pointing to the dismembered arms of the androids.

"I managed to disassemble their arms and I got to say...it's not what I expected." He said clearly distraught about something.

"What? What's the matter?"

"Well there is the laser cannon and the blade like we discussed before. The blade is just that an 'ordinary' I use that term lightly its made of the same material the robots armor is but its just your average blade. The laser cannon though is...really primitive considering."

"What?"

"I mean look at all these wires coming from the end of the cannon." He said picking up the cannon and it had tons of wires coming out of it. I was wondering what this really means and he must have seen my confusion too.

"Its all so primitive considering what we would expect. I remembered at Harvard that they wanted robots that could extract power from an energy source by a single wire but these have numerous ones and if I had to bet I would say if only one of these wires were cut or damaged the whole cannon would be rendered useless." He said as I took that as good news.

"So...aim for the arms?" I questioned as he nodded.

"This is all theories I have mind you but yeah I would say if you could put a well placed bullet in its lower arm you would disable the laser." He said forcing a smile and I nodded thankful that these things aren't completely invincible.

"But-" He said as a frown quickly replaced a smile I had.

"Oh no what?"

"No nothing bad...or at least I wouldn't consider bad." He said as I raised an eyebrow curious about what he meant.

"What else is there?"

"I found a bunch of other gadgets it has...and I got to say-.."

"What they can create flamethrowers? Force blasts? Electric fields?" I asked preparing for the worse.

"Can openers..." I heard as I swore I must have heard wrong.

"W-What did you say?"

"Yeah...can openers...not only that but also scissors, fingernail clippers, and tweezers." He said as he laid out each individual piece for me to see. I picked them up and examined them myself just to make sure.

I-I can't believe it...machines...machines, androids! Having things like-like tweezers?! What the hell is going on?! I put the items back down on the table and shook my head not wanting to believe what I was seeing.

"I know...I'm still puzzled myself as to why these things have accessories found on a regular Swiss army knife. But for now I'll move onto the head."

"Again its shape like a human's only not having a nose and instead having two holes where the nostrils would be...but I can't see any reason why they would have those two holes. There's no indication that those holes served any purpose."

"Anything else?"

"Yeah they appear to have 'teeth' like us but not shaped in the same way. They are sharp like nails but you have to put some force down in order for it to hurt."

I nodded at all this new information...so our enemy has some interesting items that I would be interested in examining more. They appear to be built far better than the tribals and us. They have superior weapons but not as superior as we once thought. If the tribals are correct the androids don't have a lot of men so...we could help them exterminate them but I don't know...

"Thanks for showing me this. I'm going to share it with the elders and try to see if we can take-"

"There's something else...something that really scares me..." He said in a low voice, which sent chills up my spine. I turned back to see him looking very intensely at the dismembered android's head. He didn't say but I knew he wanted me to look at it too. I came behind him and looked at the androids face...only now did I see its lifeless expression. Almost as if it didn't care that it was shot to bits, torn apart, and examined.

I looked at the Asian boy before asking.

"What?"

"Look at its eyes." He said as I did. They were not red like they were before...I still remember that moment. When I was hiding and one of them found me. Its blood red eyes looking into my very soul it felt like. I-...I can't say for sure but-but I'm starting to think that 'this' android...was the one who had me in his sights yesterday.

...Why didn't it kill me?...what were you thinking?...

I leaned in closer trying to stare for long enough in its eyes but I blinked and looked away scared out of my mind that it would come back to life. I had to though....I wanted to know more about this thing. I took a deep in and out before having a staredown with the dead metal beast. What about your eyes is odd?

They appeared to be made of glass which isn't that surprising and-...wait a minute...I looked closer seeing a second lens inside of it, at least from what I can guess. It looks like it could even be adjusted it I were to remove the outer glass...what the hell?

"Do you see it?" The Asian boy asked me.

"I-I think I do but what is it?" I asked him and I received an answer that shocked my very core.

"It's a camera....it storing visual imprints of everything it saw in its brain."

"T-....Then..." I said not believing it at first I was trembling as another thought came to mind.

"Who...Who is it giving the images too?" I asked as the Asian boy looked shocked now.

It took us both a few moments for us to calm down and for one of us to speak again.

"So...what else do you think you can find?" I asked but I knew my mind didn't want to discover any new creepy things.

"In this condition nothing....all the wires are busted, the majority of gadgets don't work, and its littered with bullet holes. I'm sorry my leader but there is nothing else I can learn here. If you could next time try to take one in as good as shape as possible. I suppose if you find any tools that might be useful give them to me...Also my leader I would like to make a request." He asked out of nowhere which surprised me.

"Um-Yes?"

"I would like your permission to study with the shaman here. Akia I think her name was." He said as it made me blink. I never thought anyone would ask me to be around these tribals. In fact, I thought most of them would be begging to get as far away from them as possible.

"Yes you have my permission of course. What do you plan to study?" I asked curious

"I want to see what their history with the androids are. Maybe there's something we don't know and it could help us explain some things. Aside from that I've also heard of 'magic' here in their culture." He said as he showed personal interest in his eyes.

"Yeah I think they do believe in magic but you can't just come out saying that magic isn't real they might-"

"oh no I don't want to disprove it I want to see if its true. I've been fascinated with the idea of magic since I was a child...think about it. If we had magic I don't think these androids would be much of a threat huh?" He said trying to relieve some tension as I did crack a smile...and then it hit my mind.

"Hey...um I know this is going to seem weird but I don't really know your name." I said thinking I would seem like an asshole right now but he didn't seem bothered by it.

"Its okay we never really talked before all this. I don't know your name either." He said as I went up to him and held out my hand.

"I'm Collin."

"Vick" Vick said as I firmly shook his hand. Vick then looked at the androids again like one does with a messy kitchen.

"What should we do with the androids?" He asked

"Use them as target practice." I said as Vick began to laugh.

"Haha yeah they are trash right now and mind as well be." He said in between some chuckles before I looked at him not laughing at all.

"No I'm serious we're going to use them as target practice. Get some guys to carry them and tell them to follow me." I said as he looked surprised by my orders.

I decided to set up outside of the village, right in the middle of an empty field. I brought 4 guys including Alexander with me to help demonstrate our weapons to the tribals.

We started setting up one of the androids at a close distance, we had to use a spare branch from the wall repairs to keep it up. We then set another at a mid range and set up the dismembered android at a far distance using a wide stump.

We brought our weapons wrapped up in a blanket. The others look a bit uneasy about all of this but I told them that there was no way they could ignore what we did yesterday. I can tell that they want to disagree...or maybe they don't know what to do.

I guess this is what being a leader is like. You make a decision and pray that you are right. I'm still wondering if it's right that I make the decisions from now on. I can't help but wonder if I'm making the right decisions.

One day as a leader and we've scared the tribals to the point of exile from their safe haven. I mean I just led our men in a bloodthirsty defense and I never thought about the consequences. The androids weren't even attacking us and I still told them to shoot.

I haven't asked about my performance yet as leader, I don't know what they are thinking about. What rumors they could be spreading, both true and untrue?...Am I doing the right thing?

Travis knows my record, my past...he knows my pain yet he still thought I should lead. Part of me wants to think this is a way to...redeem myself. Akia...she saw right through me before...somehow...she knew that I was suffering on the inside. How could she, when all other counselors, psychologists, and therapists failed, see my pain as if I told her face to face.

I suppose I kind of envy Vick...and if there is magic involved or something then I would be interested in it myself...what if they really do have magic? They think we're advanced but if they somehow found a way to bend the elements to their will I have little doubt that would be considered the most dangerous between our species.

It may be possible its just chemistry that's mistaken for magic but the thing is we're on an alien planet so there could be whole new elements that we don't know of and their reactions to other elements would make scientists at home busy for hundreds of years.

I know I think a lot about things that we have no power over right now but I can't help but think what will come out of visiting a new alien race and planet. There would be opportunity to start again, give ourselves a second chance and make new friends. A funny thought came to mind what if this is the beginning of a galactic empire almost like the one in star wars?

Thankfully the elders came while I was still smirking about the idea of unity between us. For a moment I forgot all about the historic moment of showing our arsenal to the tribals.

I noticed that it wasn't just the elders who came but also some warriors. Teryal was there as was Castro and his other son. Akia and Vick came too but both were busy talking with each other. I can see that they were both fascinated by the others words and it was encouraging to see someone other than myself talking with the tribals.

"So...my chief tells me you wish to relieve our concerns about your weapons. You must understand why we are worried about these mysterious weapons you hold." An elder cheetah spoke to me as I nodded.

"I do and I wish to end that worry. I would first like to reassure you, all of you that I and my people are your guests. We have no intention to harm you. I have sworn myself to protect Kanza with my life." I told them my vow as Teryal stepped in front of them all.

"It is true. He has sworn himself to me and I trust him with my life." He said to them all confident of his choice before he turned back with a smile towards me. I smiled too and nodded thanking him for his trust. The elders whispered for a moment before the cheetah spoke again.

"Then you may continue. We will watch you use your weapons and will ask questions along the way." He said as I understood.

I looked back at the agents who came with me and nodded. We had an order we wanted to follow, smallest to biggest. I knelt down and picked up two handguns. One was a Desert Eagle the other was a Sig Sauer P226 I think. I knew handguns but its hard to tell sometimes.

"As you can see my fellow elders my warriors and I have set up some targets for our demonstration. We decided to use 3 metal ones we kept during the battle. This will show you the power of our weapons and the damage it inflicts on your sworn enemies." I said before holding up my two side arms.

"Here are our 2 weapons you refer to the 'size of daggers' it is true that these are the smallest weapons we have on us but they are also the most numerous we have. If you notice one of them is much larger than the other. I will speak of this later, for now I will show you what the lighter one does."

"Here we have a clip or magazine that goes in like this....now we pull this upper part and the weapon is ready for battle. If you cannot handle loud sounds I would advise you cover your ears for the next few seconds. I will say Fire and I will begin using my weapon." I said before taking my place on the makeshift fire range.

I aimed my gun at the closest dead target android. A few of the elders already began covering their ears but the warriors along with the stubborn elders wanted to show their bravery against our loud guns.

"Ready?..." I warned and I saw a few more of the elders give into fear along with 2 warriors. I saw Castro's bother cover his ears but Castro looked prepared. Teryal that was once as fearful as the others now looked interested to see what power he held in his hands before.

"Fire!" I said before shooting the entire 15 round clip. Every single warrior and elder backed away and covered their ears. I even heard an elder give a shriek as I barraged the androids chest with my bullets. 13 meet its chest, one missed the other hit it's left arm. They were scattered but that's to be expected when you fire it so much.

There was a ringing in my ears but with enough time around these things it goes away fast. I saw Teryal and Castro in awe but everyone else was frightened. I gently placed the gun on the ground and addressed them.

"As you just saw my weapon put many holes in your enemies chest. We call these weapons "handguns" for they are the smallest and can held by one if the carrier wished. Notice how there were 15 loud bangs and on the ground around me there are 15 'gold cylinders' These are the real magic to our weapons without these things we call bullets...our magic fire sticks are basically weird blunt staffs." I told them and I wasn't met with any questions or accusations as I thought would happen.

"Are there any questions? Is this going to fast for you?" I asked them but an elder wolf stepped forward and looked at me. His face read many emotions, fear, respect, and curiosity were to name a few but I saw what he was really trying to do.

"I-...I must know what these weapons are capable of! I will continue to observe no matter how frightened I may be!" He said telling the honest truth. They are frightened but they want to see us use our superior weapons

They all stood up straight showing me their interest and pride of being tough warriors and fearless leaders. I saw Teryal swell with pride, he was glad that no matter how cautious his comrades were they were not cowards. I picked up the Desert Eagle and held it up showing them the new weapon.

"This is what we call a 'Desert Eagle' as you can see it is shaped the same as the last weapon but bigger. That is because unlike the last weapon this one has even more power but has more kick and fires less bullets. Same as before, I will begin when I say fire.

I repeated what I did before but this time the tribals stood ready to hear the loud bangs.

"Ready?.....Fire!" I said before firing 7 bullets into the android. It moved as if I were shocking it back to life. The tribals flinched and a few still covered their ears. Their legs were trembling but they stood upright unlike before. 5 bullets landed in the chest but the other 2 missed. My hand was already starting to ache. It must be from the scrubbing from today so I think I'll let the others demonstrate for me.

"As you see this handgun had far more power than the other one but in return it means less shots can be fired off. These are considered secondary weapons and used for self defense."

"Secondary?! Those things are secondary weapons?! So they are like daggers to warriors!" A stunned horse elder exclaimed.

"I guess but like I said they are the most numerous weapons we have right now. Next we will move onto what we call shotguns." I said as the elders followed me as if I were some tour guide.

"This is the Mossenberg. It is the only shotgun we have as far as we know. It holds about 8 bullets but if you were to notice the bullets are shaped differently." I said as the agent pumped out a shell and I held it up.

"The bullet is perfectly flat. This weapon stands out from the rest because of its power and hard recoil it does to the carrier but what it excels in power it lacks in range. The shotgun is a close range kind of weapon and it is not recommended for a precise shot."

"Inside its bullets are bunches of what you might call little rocks. These little rocks spray out and hit its target all over. As this agent will demonstrate." I said nodding to the man and he took aim at the closest android.

Suddenly a loud bang frightened the elders again. The agent pumped his next round in and did it 7 more times and we saw the closest android now completely littered with bullet holes. Entire sections of its armor were missing as the agent stood proud of his aim and damage.

"This weapon is only effective at close range otherwise it might bounce off of the metal ones armor. Let us continue to the others." I said as they followed waiting in all sorts of emotions like fear, anticipation, and curiosity.

I showed them the assault rifles both the M4A1 and the AK-47. The agents fired on the middle android and ripped it to shreds with bullets. One of them even volunteered to hold it and he looked amazed. He commented on how light it felt compared to what he expected.

He even tried pointing it up towards the sky but he held it awkwardly which was understandable. The agent unloaded the gun so it would be all right to examine it as much as the liked.

I think my personal favorite was when the sniper rifles were shown. Only one kind was available but I think this would truly make them stunned.

"Now elders do you see that target over there?" I asked pointing to the farthest android about 400 yards away. The elders had a hard time with old age and all but the warriors assured them there was one there.

"My next weapon I will show you will allow me to kill it...standing from right here." I said as we heard gasps and whispers.

"Impossible! Not even the most accurate of bowmen could hit that!" A warrior said as I took the challenge with a smirk on my face.

"Well I will show you then...lets see we need to find a clear target...do you see its legs?" I asked the warrior as he nodded.

"I'm going it shoot off its right leg." I said as the warrior looked threatened by my boast but he didn't take back his skepticism.

I knelt down and picked up the Robar-RC 50. It wasn't the most advanced sniper rifle out there but it would do the job. The elders looked at it with awe as I went prone to the ground and took aim.

I calmed myself as best as I could. The crosshairs meeting right the androids knee...NOW! I didn't warn the elders because even talking could have ruin the shot. The bullet rang out and the next thing I saw was the androids leg snapping off like a twig and it flew away from the rest of its body by a few meters.

The elders were stunned before but now they were in complete disbelief. All of their jaws were open as they saw a target that would be impossible for them to hit have its leg blown off like nothing. The warrior who doubted me before looked the most in denial but I had proved him wrong.

I stood back up with a smirk I held the rifle up against my shoulder and waited for the questions to begin.

"A-....Are you gods?!

The question sent a shiver down my entire being. I already know trying to be gods would only end in disaster. They will see some of us die so they'll know we're not immortal. Worse what if they think we need ritualistic sacrifices? I studied history enough to know what should never be repeated in any culture, sacrifice is one of them.

I know the others would want me to consider saying yes but again we're outnumbered no matter how powerful our weapons we will be overrun if we try anything...besides these tribals would know more about this planet than we do.

Their scouts might know where we could find a portal to travel back home. They said the androids take over villages for some reason...it might be they are clearing the area to test out the portal across worlds, galaxies even!

"No...we are not gods...we bleed, we eat, we die. My people are not immortal we are very similar to you in nearly every aspect." I said, as they looked slightly relieved but the superstitious ones looked disappointed a bit.

I motioned for any questions related to the guns. I was preparing myself for a few of the warriors to test out the guns themselves. But the one who stepped forward was not who I expected.

"I'll like to try out weapons" A deep voice said but it wasn't from the crowd...it came from my side. I turned to see a massive bull heading towards me. I was surprised that I didn't hear the beast coming. The bull was nearly 2 feet taller than me.

"Boris! You would like to try out the human's weapons? Why am I not surprised nothing scares you?" Teryal joked as Alexander looked over at Boris and I swear I could see his hair stand up at the sight of the bull.

Boris saw Alexander too and they both came up to the other glaring at the other as I, the agents, and the elders began shaking their heads. Are we always going to have to pull them apart whenever they are around each other?

"Finally came out of hiding from the woods? Some bodyguard you are." Alex said as Boris snorted at Alex.

"Your weapons don't look like anything I can't handle...and so do you." He threatened right back at him before I interrupted their stupid smack talking.

"Well I bet we all know that using words won't kill the metal ones. Did you have a particular weapon you wanted to try out Boris." I said putting myself in between the two. I was like being between two boulders. I can't deny they are both equally fit.

Boris let out a "tsch" in disgust for Alexander before looking at me. But then he looked back at Alexander and pointed at him. I was about to tell him no before he said.

"I would like to try out your weapon." He said pointing to what I realized was Alexander's light machine gun. Alex looked ready to scream no and fight the bull before I looked at him and ordered.

"Alex...show him how to use the gun." I ordered as Alex stood motionless obviously thinking about not to obey me. He huffed and reluctantly agreed in the end. As he prepared the gun for use I had to explain the gun I missed.

"I believe I forgot to introduce one of our weapons my elders. I apologize. You know the armored turtles you speak of? And the fire stick on top of that?" I questioned as they nodded.

"Now I'm afraid we don't have many "bullets" for that kind of gun but we do have something just as good. What my associate Alexander has is what we call a "light machine gun" They are considered the most powerful of all human weapons. Imagine the assault rifle's capacity but over 3 times that with the power of a shotgun blast in each bullet. This is without a doubt the best kind of weapon we have, the M60." I said as Alex showed it to the elders. I took the huge bucket like magazine and presented it to one of the warriors.

He struggled with the weight but kept it up. They were anxious to see the weapon in action and I nodded at Alex to give Boris the weapon. Both of them were still glaring at the other until...

"Here hold it like...this." Alex said as he grabbed onto Boris's hand and placed it on the trigger. Alex's voice suddenly sounded softer and Boris's glare was replaced with a face of...something...he was clearly focusing more on Alexander's hand on his own rather than actually using the gun.

"Is everything ready?" I asked as they both snapped out of whatever happened and Alex backed away and Boris shook it off. Both still had glares but they were not looking at the other for some reason.

"Yeah he's good to go." He said coming towards me as I started talking to Boris.

"Alright Boris...do your best to aim it towards the middle android. Pull the trigger when I say go" I said.

"Understood elder." He said before I waited for a few moments. Everything except Alexander covered their ears and I yelled out.

"GO!"

Boris pulled the trigger and quickly he was overwhelmed by the power and endless amount of firepower. Only about 3 bullets hit the android before the machine gun went up in the air and Boris backed away nearly falling down.

He looked visibly shaken by the gun and dropped it on the ground. His hands ached I could tell and the thing he looked most hurt by was by everyone watching. I bet for such a tough guy not being able to handle a challenge like that would be humiliating in tribal culture. In all honesty he did far better than I could have done.

Boris only looked at Alexander before he stormed off not looking at anyone. I couldn't tell what expression Alexander had on his face and I felt bad for the man.

"Wait Boris you did-" I said before Teryal patted my shoulder.

"Its alright Collin. Just give him some time. Boris isn't the kind to just accept defeat. He'll be back trying to be better than Alexander in a few days trust me." He said confident of his words and I just agreed. I didn't know Boris personally but if he's anything like Alexander than I suppose he might be right.

Alexander volunteered to take over after Boris left. It was then offered if anyone including the agents and elders if they wanted to leave with me....I left alone...or so I thought.

I was walking through the fields alone. As a leader I guess this is what I would call a vacation. I placed my hand out and let the wheat brush against my hand. It was beautiful seeing this endless sea of gold, how my hand only makes one small impression and as soon as it passes each golden stack it goes back to normal as if nothing happened to it.

Kanza they call this place...it means wind to them. I can see why, I don't think people realize the beauty of wind. Seeing a wave on the ocean caused by the wind, seeing leaves blow to the breeze, having that special someone's hair fly through the air...all of them caused by the wind.

I think it would have to be my most favorite natural force on Earth. It was the only company I had through the years, it would cool me down after running for a long time, it would turn the pages of a book I was reading, it was the only voice I allowed my soul to listen too.

We all know of its power and how it can be combined with the other elements. I know I have the strength to be a fighter but what peace do people like that wish to find? When you surround yourself in violence yet desire peace you are just dooming yourself to torment...

But that doesn't mean I don't think they should try. How could people who fight all their lives just give up. It's quite the paradox, one that still makes me think. Then again maybe we just overthink things. We worry about things far beyond our control.

Maybe we are safe for the moment. Maybe the androids don't want to risk attacking us again. If they are capable of planning out attacks they might just avoid us and harm the tribals they know they can defeat...but...

A gust of wind blew against me as I looked up at the sun and the clouds. This world was similar to ours...imagine what these tribals go through everyday, to be surrounded by such beauty. To have the perfect world hardly touched by corruption and pollution but a growing menace that is far stronger than them takes them out one by one.

It's like a slow torture. They are perfectly innocent people, they have been kind to us...If we manage to get back home and somehow keep contact we can join worlds. But they have their problems like we do but...what I'm worried about is us corrupting them more.

Who's to say our corrupt officials at home will use them as cheap labor or slaves even? Technically they aren't human so even religious officials might not step in to help them if that happens. I want to give our race some credit but there is undeniable evil in our past and current ways.

Another gust of wind broke all my thoughts...and for a moment I didn't think...I didn't worry I didn't doubt. It was like something grabbed hold of me and didn't do anything else. All I did was look at my surroundings...the trees, the sky, the plants...

This....This was the second chance humans hope for. But in order to have it we must forget our old ways. Right now this planet is in danger...in danger of becoming like us...in Harvard I was studying about laws....wars....disease...NASA even dreams about moving to a new planet.

This world has everything we need but we cannot repeat our past mistakes. I-...I'm the one who could try....who could an entire new chapter in human history. The tribals trust me...If we establish peace then more humans could move here. A second earth to live in.

I thought this was pure fantasy talk in the halls of the Science building in Harvard but I'm actually here...we all are! I am the first person to represent us to aliens...and-and I have jurisdiction here. I might have been forced but no one has tried to convince me to step down.

The burden of a leader...his dreams and ideals can be realized...as can his nightmares and the consequences. My ideals....my dream.... Is for good people to have a second chance. To live in a world uncorrupted! I'll give up anything in order to make that dream a reality! Even if it means I can never life in that place but if others can than my life....my life will have finally meant something....Something Mom and Dad could be-

"Collin! Wait up!" A sudden voice broke through the wind and my thoughts. I saw it was Castro and he caught me off guard but not at a bad time.

"Castro? I thought you would have stayed around to watch the guns some more." I said as Castro caught his breath before smiling up at me.

"No I think I've seen enough, besides I much rather talk with you friend." He said with a smile which I gladly returned...so this is what it was like having a friend. There was something about Castro, something that no other person has. He's friendly cheery, someone my counselors tell me to be around more because of my isolated attitude.

But I'm pretty sure they didn't mean being friends with a walking, talking dog alien haha. But I can't help but feel like we can relate to each other. Castro seems innocent but there is something in the back of mind telling me that he understands me. Maybe he's like me except he's happy underneath what he's suffered while I just went cold.

"Sure Castro. Did you have anything you wanted to ask first?" I questioned as we walked with each other.

"Yeah. Those weapons you had..." He mentioned at first as I should have guessed it would be that.

"Yeah...I hope they didn't scare you. I know they can be scary but really-" I was about to defend myself again before Castro caught me off guard again. Odd considering at Harvard I was suppose to prepare for any response and somehow with Castro I cannot think ahead.

"Why do your people have them?" He asked as I went blank in my mind at the question...but I knew the answer deep inside.

"What?"

"Why do your people have such...destructive weapons?...Are there metal ones where you come from?" He asked as my once patriotic tone was replaced with sadness and shame.

"Well...umm." I froze at the question. I-I couldn't....s-should I tell him why we have guns? We use them for war and they don't even know about our missiles, our tanks, chemical weapons, or nuclear weapons.

"I'm wondering what threats do your people face? Are there horrible beasts there that threaten your kind? I'm just asking because I've heard rumors that you have a lot of humans on your planet and with such weapons and numbers that you could easily take down any threat. I bet your people wouldn't even feel threatened by the metal ones!" Castro said completely obvious to the idea of war among my own kind.

"Later..." I answered softly as Castro's ear perked up and he tilted his head slightly to the right confused.

"Later?"

"I'll...tell you that later. Right now I just want to have peace with your people Castro." I forced a smile hoping he would leave it at that and he did. He nodded but looked saddened by my response but would the truth have been any better?

If they knew our wars...our hate for ourselves...we would be the animals. How many of us have died from each other's hands? How much blood does the very Earth we lived on have underneath its green grasses? How many people have died and continue to die as we hope for a better future...and all we think is 'when this war is over we'll have peace for sure!'

"Its odd and scary when I think about it though." Castro said out of nowhere as we had an awkward silent walk for a few moments.

"You were pointing one of those things at me when we first met. What happened to those metal ones...could have happened to me." He said as I felt a flood of guilt.

"Castro. Please I was scared back then. I didn't know if you wanted to kill me but I can clearly see I was wrong. If I knew what I know right now I would have never even thought about pointing my weapon at you." I said wondering if he was going to think I was an uncontrollable monster anyway.

"No not like that. It's the person holding the weapon who creates the destruction. You are not like that Collin. I know your aren't. You are too kind to think about hurting an innocent person." He said.

I looked away as memories started to flash....those words....I clenched my fist wishing he hadn't said them but he didn't seem to notice my internal struggle. I was choking up at the statement...if...if only he knew. I swallowed what felt like a brick before saying.

"Yeah...I would never intentionally hurt an innocent person..."

"Hey lets go explore together! I've wanted to check out this area but the shaman always warned against it. Can you come with me Collin?" Castro asked when he looked over at the distant forest. I blinked before scratching the back of my head.

"Um you sure that's a good idea Castro? I mean I'm an elder and I really don't think exploring something your shaman said no would be the best thing for me." I said almost feeling like we were kids all of a sudden. Castro frowned for a moment tucking his ears back and looked ready to whimper.

"Please? Come on it will be fun! Trust me and if something bad happens I'll take the blame and you could say you saved me or something. Sounds fair?" He said trying to convince me but I can see persuasion really isn't his forte.

"Eh..." I said weighing rubbing my chin then down to my throat unsure of what to do. I mean it is only a matter of time before my men try to find a way back home, chances are we'll need to leave someday and I suppose I could start tracking landmarks for us to remember. I have no paper, just the pistol I brought from target practice so I guess I'll have to make mental notes. Then again whatever the scouts of this village know might be useful when we set out.

Maybe we could be nomadic mercenaries, trade protection to villages in need in exchange for supplies and information about how to get home. Then again we would be going on the words of tribals...people who believe in magic and spirits...Come on Collin have a little more faith in them. Its not like we have any leads ourselves-

"Alright I'll go by myself and if I get hurt I'll let father know you didn't come with me to protect me. Haha!" Castro said running off and cutting off my ideas.

"What?! Hey!" I said before taking off after him. Dammit...letting him run off like that and getting hurt would look bad for us...so basically if I disobeyed him he would get me in trouble or I could stay beside him and gamble my chances. I wanted to sigh knowing I was ambushed and had no choice but to follow him.

I chased after him for a while before my entire body began to burn with exhaustion. Castro was still going strong and even ran backwards and began chuckling. He even teased me about how I might be better at weapons but Castro's got the most stamina between us.

"You are killing man!" I complained before having to stop before my heart bursts. I leaned against a tree hearing Castro's feet crush leaves in the distance. Ah crap. I heard one last chuckle from him before I saw that I lost him. Crap Crap!

"Castro...I can't see you!" I said inbetween some coughs god why do I get mixed up in things like this?! I might just slap him on the back of the head, friends do not get themselves in trouble like this!

"Castro?! Can you hear me?! I'm serious I can't see you!" I called into the endless forest. Oh crap...oh fuck my luck. If the chief's son gets lost on my watch it will not end well with negotiations.

I stumbled through the forest meeting heavy resistance from branches. I swear they were so packed together a child couldn't get through it. It was like each little twig was rig to either cut my clothes or slash my face.

I then heard things that sounded oddly familiar...insects...all this time I had never noticed that there was that familiar creaking and screeching bugs make all the time in the woods. They sounded like the ones on earth...i-is it possible?

My mind began to worry about the possibility of walking insect people on this planet. A cold shiver went through my spine as I thought about my most hated and feared insect...the mantis.

Those scary pincers and freakish head, not to mention how they eat and their bizarre ways of mating. I remember when I was in the second grade and we had a field trip to a zoo, I thought I was fearless looking right into the snake cage when one of them was slithering against the glass or when the Komodo dragons were fed seeing them tear apart meat like it was paper. Then just when I think we're in the clear and I've shown my courage we enter the insect section where kids are allowed to holed things like butterflies and caterpillars one of the guides opened the mantis cage and it pounced on me. I freaked out and swatted it away. The whole class laughed at me but I grew a phobia to them ever since.

Imagine those things having the intelligence of humans walking at heights equal or greater than our own! Then having them eat your head like-AH! Augh! No I don't even want to think about it anymore!

"Castro! I am not playing around here! I swear if you are just waiting to scare me Imma punch you right in the stomach!" I threatened flustered at my previous thoughts and how scared I was at the moment. I hate jump scares too...

I couldn't even see the sky anymore. I think these trees are far taller than the ones back on earth, yet they are the same...these are oak trees. I've heard the possibility at there might be completely similar earth like planets out there but what would be the odds of us being on one?

This planet fascinates me....I think if we ever get back home I'll make it my life's goal to explore and learn everything about this place and its people. Imagine I was first setting off on the presidents plane to be just a general but now I'm going to explore an alien planet! Its like every boy's dream.

Still as happy as I would like to be I have to find that stupid, reckless husky. I'm sure I'll never find him at this rate. I'm going to have to find some landmark and shoot a bullet in the air to let him know where I am.

I stumbled in the forest further or maybe I'm just going in circles, I don't know! I got to find something. Heck maybe I'll even have to climb one of these trees. I was about to before I saw something...odd. Walking closer I Noticed it was a big pile of rocks...like a hill but very out of place considering a forest like this.

Hey it works for me I thought before going over to the pile of rocks. I saw that there was a small clearing and decided that this would definitely make a good place to wait for Castro to come out.

Pushing aside the last bit of branches I took a closer look at the mysterious pile of rocks. Very out of place but oddly there are vines and weed growing out from cracks inbetween them so they must have been here for a long time. Walking counterclockwise I saw an opening in the rocks...a big opening.

"Hmm? A cave?" I said to myself seeing it was in fact a large cave...that's very odd but I suppose it is possible. Is this what Castro wanted to see? I took a look around to make sure Castro wasn't going to just sneak up on me and if he was he was very good at hiding.

I guess he was right I would be interested in exploring this. I wonder what might be down there? Perhaps treasure? Could it be that the tribals had some understanding of mining before abandoning the place? Maybe there might be cave drawings of the tribals so we would have some understanding of their past.

I took a peak inside and I started to feel frozen...both from the unnatural breeze coming from it and from how dark it was. It looks like it goes in there quite deep. I'd need a flashlight too...I started panicking about the idea of some monster living inside...we are on an alien planet...we don't know what other kinds of things might live here.

Still despite the danger it might be worth it to check it out. I guess I might come back here with Castro after all. I let out a 'hmph' admitting I was intrigued and would have to make a mental note of this place. I was about to get ready to climb on top of the cave before hearing something....twigs and branches snapping.

Ah Castro good now I don't need to waste a bullet. I got back down on the ground and went towards the noise on the opposite side of the cave from me.

"H-" Was all that got out of me before my instincts took over and I dashed towards the woods. I dove into a thick brush and hide there panting and suddenly feeling a burn up my spine.

That wasn't Castro! That fucking wasn't Castro! Was the thought repeated in my mind, some part of me completely forgot about the sight greeted by me. I was in a hysterical illusion. W-Was I really here? Did I really run from it or am I still standing there frozen.

I was terrified to look up to make sure I wasn't just seeing things but I swear I saw it! I know I saw it! My breath was stolen when I heard the footsteps...t-those...calm...inhuman footsteps...like it knows nothing can stop it. It doesn't care that nothing can stop it.

My hand started to reach to my side almost as if possessed. I felt the cold metal of the grip of my pistol knowing I was preparing myself for a fight...oh god what if it didn't come alone?

I had to force myself both physically and mentally to breath slower. I had to calm down...I've heard of posttraumatic syndrome so maybe this is all in my head. I was not about to take any chances.

Instead of looking up I decided to quietly and carefully go through the brush. The once sharp branches meant nothing compared to what that thing might do to me. My left hand gently pushing away the branches while the pistol creates a small hole for me to peak through.

I reached through the other side and saw it...my heart dropped, there was no denying it. I saw it! A man was standing at the entrance of the cave but this was no ordinary man. He was inhuman and his red eyes were unfazed by the dark, cold cave.

It was one of the androids.

I was breathing heavily through my nose. D-Did it see me? It doesn't look like it but maybe its just toying with me....or is it possible...

I remembered at happened to me at the village...when we were attacked...how that android has a clear kill shot on me but it didn't shoot. Were we...not interesting to them anymore? Part of me would think that a blessing but that doesn't mean they will stop attacking.

Those things might have been afraid of us before but now after they've seen out numbers and what we're capable of they might be planning for an all out attack. This could be one of the first scouts mapping positions to begin our demise.

But...why is it just looking into the cave?...was it as curious about it as I was? Maybe for them this cave is just as out of place as we see it. I was looking at its arms seeing if it had one of the blades or its cannon out...nothing....the machine was standing there motionless gazing into the dark abyss of the cave.

What is it doing?...Why is it just standing there? But suddenly I jumped when I heard it grunt before moving its arm up to eye level and then...w-what the hell? Suddenly this red blanket came out...no its not a blanket...its like some sort of map! It is checking out locations!

But it was also scanning through places like rivers...no wait it's zooming out! Its acting like an antennae for the other androids and who knows what else?! The map started to grow bigger showing other rivers, ponds, and what I know had to be Kanza and the plane crash.

S-Should I try to approach it?...I....I don't know....I just don't fucking know! My hands were trembling. I had no idea what to do. What was going on?! How was all of this happening?! I-I should leave! I need to get out of here and-!

"Hey there Collin!" A voice broke louder than any branch I had worried about. I instantly recognized the voice and snapped at him.

"So-Augh!" Castro said before I wrapped my arms around him and forced him to the ground hard creating a small ruffle in the bushes. My eyes were as wide as platters as I covered his mouth with my hand. I'm sure I looked horrified in his eyes...because I was.

"Shut up!" I whispered not in the offending way...I'm sure by just one look at me you can tell I had seen something bad. Castro immediately nodded understanding my frantic worry as I released my hold on him.

"W-Whats going on?" He asked very calmly and quietly. I was thankful for that but it may be too late.

"T-....There's.." I couldn't speak.

"There's what?"

"One of them....'them'!" I said at the end looking at him....and he knew what I meant...the metal ones.

"W-What?! T-That's impossible! They never come this near our territory!" He said in a terrorized whisper. He was started to panic as much as me now. I had to place my fingers on my lips to remind him to stay quiet!

"I know I saw it...I know it Castro."

"I-...Is it still there?" He asked and I wondered if maybe we had scared it off. It was alone and maybe it would retreat if they thought they were getting ambushed.

"I-I don't know.....I-...I guess I'll check." I said going through my little makeshift hole.

Scanning from east to west...at first nothing. The trees in the distance...the cave...I slowly turned my head west thinking we had-

"Oh fuck! Oh fuck oh fuck!" I said hysterically moving out of the hole and whimpering behind the bushes...it was still there....and its eyes were looking right at me. I felt the urge to cry and beg for my life to the beast but I knew that would not stop it.

Castro looked at me too wondering what we were going to do. I had my pistol and Castro had....shit! Looking at his loincloth he was unarmed! Its just this one pistol against the android!

"S-Should we run Collin?! I don't think they would chase after us if we-"

Suddenly the crushing of leaves and twigs cut off his words...and my heartbeat...n-no...its coming right towards us! Its coming right towards us. Both Castro and I let out pathetic whimpers as we knew that thing was coming to kill us!

"Oh gods oh gods have mercy on us!" Castro whimpered over and over again in rhythm to each foot stomp. I was shivering in my shell before grinding my teeth together. It was like I was forcing myself to stop panicking, grabbing control of my heart and steadying my breath.

...I had a plan but it would be incredibly risky...

Taking out my pistol I whispered to Castro who looked ready to run and scream for his life.

"Castro...I have an idea..." I whispered as he looked at me as if I was insane if I had said anything not involving running.

"You create some more noise...and when he gets close enough I'm going to put a bullet in his head."

"WHAT?!" He practically screamed but not that it matters the android knows we're here.

"That thing is going to find us and it will shoot at us. I think we should kill it before it kills us."

"But Collin-!"

"Listen! I know I'm asking a lot....t-that's why if I die...You run and-"

"No." He answered back. I was surprised by his sudden change in tone. He looked up at me and I saw that his once panicked eyes were now contemplating something.

"I'm not leaving you alone to face this monster. You are an elder Collin but more importantly you are a friend...I-If you are sure this will work then...for you...I'll do it." He said to me dead in the eye and for a moment we both ignored the approaching footsteps.

At first all I could do was stare back at him thinking he might hesitate and want to run...now that I think about it he could easily just say that I should do it alone. That I both make the noise and fire the shot...but Castro is choosing to stay with me...even though it could cost him his life. I reached over to him and grabbed his shoulder...this may be the last person I say this too...my final words....

"Thank you." I whisper as Castro nodded before motioning his arms about in the bushes causing more noise for the android to examine. Its footsteps were getting louder, any moment I was expecting it to give that unholy scream and fire wildly at us...its kind of odd that it wouldn't do that right now.

It doesn't matter...I have to make sure my first shot counts if not then I have to unload everything as fast as I can before it shoots me back. Gripping my weapon tighter as my breath slows...It will make my shot more accurate. As soon as I see its red eyes I'll put a bullet in-between them.

My whole body tenses up as if I had suddenly turned to stone. I can't tell if the single drop of water running down my cheek was from the sweat or my eyes. Castro's lower half seemed to be stuck on the ground too. All he did was thrash his arms into the branches creating as much noise as possible for the android to investigate.

The footstep of the android having rhythm like...a clock almost hearing each individual second tick by not when it would end! It was almost maddening and I had a sudden thought to just run for it but I quickly pushed it away. Castro said he won't leave me so I won't leave him.

"Oh gods he's very close Collin. A-Are you ready?" Castro whimpered in a soft breath. I placed my finger right on the trigger and prepared myself to leap out and kill the android as cleanly and quickly as possible.

"Just tell me when..." I answered almost going into a trance like state of mind...don't panic...don't think about it...Just do what you have to. Wait for it...

"O-Okay........DO IT NOW COLLIN!" He said when the last footstep felt like it was only mere inches away from where we were hiding. Not even thinking I leaped out of my hiding place with a war cry.

"RRRRRRAAAAAAAAA!" I screamed pointing my pistol at the androids face. I could only remember seeing its red eyes before pulling the trigger...once. I hard a sharp 'BING' in the air before I could feel my heart pounding hard against my chest.

It took me a moment for my mind to comprehend the image in front of me. The android now had a third eye between the two red ones...but its black...no that's no eye its-

A spark coming from it made me jump before the android let out a dying moan...then dropped to its knee and fell face first into the ground crushing the bushes Castro was in. Castro yelped and back away from the dead monster...the bullet had went clean through its head as we saw another spark followed by smoke coming out of the hole from the back of its head.

I smelt the hot metal and it knocked me back into reality. I-....I killed it....a clean perfect shot right between the eyes. The android wasn't moving...as horrible as these beasts were...as cruelly as they killed the people on the plane and who knows how many on this planet there was something....kinda sad hearing one die like that. Its body was human like so maybe I was just...I-....I don't even know what I'm thinking.

"Is it dead?" Castro asked before I realized that I wasn't even pointing my pistol at it...I just assumed it would be like any creature would be after a headshot. Keeping my pistol pointed at it with my right hand I leaned down to grab its shoulder...I-...I never touched one of these things...Vick and a few of the other agents have but not me.

When I placed my hand on its shoulder...and I was oddly met with cold steel instead of warm! It wasn't freezing but it was certainly not hot or lukewarm...it was...cool. These things must have some cooling feature to them. Keep cool under warm circumstances and chances are they have a heater for the opposite reasons.

My breathing was low and fast. I think I wasn't getting enough air in me or maybe I was breathing to much out. My eyes were fixed on its head with a gaping hole in it. I quickly flipped the android around and I froze at the sight.

Its eyes! They were still glowing! I feared all this time it was merely playing dead, let me get close for its own surprise kill shot. Castro backed away and looked ready to bash it with a nearby rock as my finger couldn't move...I-I couldn't pull the trigger out of fright!

Then....I saw the red in its eyes fading...they were once bright red now they were medium red....now dark red....before it turned pitch black like the bullet hole...

I-....I held onto something during its last moments of life...Its once tense and stiff body fell limp as the places were joints would be located moved slightly but sank further into the ground...it was dead.

It took me awhile to stand straight again and look at Castro who was feeling the same I bet. It was dead...but there was something sad about it. I looked at its body seeing it was the same as the others...but there was something different about this one than the ones that attacked the village.

It took me a moment to see it was the arms...they were thinner...I swear on my life I know this one had thinner arms than the others. Also it...it didn't have a weapon out. Not its blade or its lazy cannon. When we were moving them out of the village before whatever weapon they held was still out when they died. If it had its blade out it wouldn't retracted back in...

"D-....Did it have a weapon out? When it was coming at us?" I asked knowing I had to say something. Castro blinked and thought about it...and came to the realization.

"N-...No...It was just walking towards us...b-but that doesn't make sense!"

"Why not?"

"The scouts always have a weapon out. Sometimes it's the red fire stick other times it's the blade...this one was...just...coming towards us." He said as I began to wonder...

Its dead robotic face was seared into my mind. I didn't know if to feel proud of myself or think myself a coward...They did attack us first but...I can't stop thinking about what happened in the village.

That other android didn't kill me...it walked away...and now this one who could have fired into the bushes but didn't, it didn't even arm itself. What could this mean?

"We-We should go Collin. I-I'm sorry I never meant to put us in this danger its just the shaman said there was this cave and-and I don't even want to come back here! Lets just go!" He said before shuffling along the forest motioning his hand for me to follow.

I turned back to see the cave...the one both I and the metal one were looking into before I followed Castro back to Kanza

When we got back to the village we were both silent. We had promised not to talk of what happened to anyone. Because either way it would look bad for both sides. I, an elder, having his life in danger and Castro the chief's son disobeying a shaman's warning.

But as I was about to call it a night for Castro I once again saw that hardly anyone was out but the villagers were peaking out towards the humans every once in awhile. I heard giggles and suppressed laughter coming from the tepees as the humans looked both frightened and curious at this odd behavior.

Then Castro's bother Rio ran up to us and gave his bother a hug.

"Ah there you are Castro! Collin the elders wanted to speak to you in the chief's tepee. You should come too brother." Rio said.

(Castro's view)

I followed my brother with Collin coming along to my fathers tent. We saw that the flame of the council was burning as the elders talked amongst themselves. Rio entered first with Collin and I following close behind.

When we entered though the voices stopped but I saw that my father had his eyes fixed upon Collin. I then noticed Collin's bodyguard Alex leaning against a pole before coming up to Collin and nodding.

Collin went towards the middle of everyone as Zio and I went to our seats so the council could begin. Father looked at Collin as if judging him, the sides of his index fingers covering his mouth as Collin waited for the first to speak.

"This council has examined your weapons Collin. We have seen the power your people hold and something we cannot deny is that your weapons scare us." An elder jaguar said as Collin nodded. I guess it was too much to hope for.

"But-" A horse elder said.

"We also cannot deny that these weapons...have killed more metal ones than we have over 3 generations and your people have only been here for a week."

"Collin...this council has debated for the last hour on the issue of asking you to abandon your weapons or not." My father said to him and both he and Alexander stood ready but clearly nervous about the decision. I was scared myself.

If I had taken someone else with to the cave would I still be alive? If that person had only a dagger would we have been able to kill it? I know I was scared of the weapons at first too but-

I was to voice my own opinion before father beat me too it.

"And we have decided to let you keep your weapons as long as you use them against the metal ones." Father said with a soft smile as Collin looked surprise by the nonchalant way father answered.

"J-Just like that?"

"Yes. While I do believe your weapons are far more powerful than ours we know that it's the person wielding them that is the dangerous one. I would ask for the permission to let your people train my people who wish to learn about how to use your weapons. With your permission of course elder." Father said with a smile as Collin looked clearly off guard.

I was sure Collin was preparing for a long drawn out debate, thinking about positive things to tell the elders, thinking of all sort of different scenarios and here all that thinking was unneeded.

"I-Um Yes of course. Thank you chief and elders. I promise you won't regret it." Collin said before the elders started smiling and a few even began to chuckle.

"U-Um is everything okay?" Collin asked as I noticed Zio, my father, the majority of elders started chuckling too.

"I'm sorry Collin. Its just you looked so panicked and worried. I understand with you being new but is was kind of funny to see you worried like we were going to kick your people out. "

Collin and Alexander didn't know what to think and for a moment I thought about it too...before I realized. My father wouldn't consider kicking out the humans. The debate was to have them in the village with their weapons. So this whole time he wanted to keep them here he was just worried about the 'guns' was all.

Ah father sometimes I wonder if you like drama. You do this with every new elder and I'm sure it must seem like a perfect opportunity to mess with a young elder. I guess father was always a trickster, not in the pranks but things like getting people worried about little things.

I guess I see where my brother gets his devious ideas too. Father is wise but he like everyone else, he laughs, smiles, and cries like any person. I think a leader that everyone can relate too is the best kind of leader. My father is always easy to approach and he takes in every opinion if presented to him.

"Well thank you again. By doing this I know its just the beginning of a beautiful alliance between our people." Collin said bowing in respect as I saw father bite his tongue as if wanting to say something more. It didn't look like anything bad its like he just wanted to say something the others might not like. I wonder what? The meeting continue for another half an hour and I saw some elder approach Collin with words of wisdom and our culture. It warmed my heart to see the elders start accepting the humans for what they are.

But then as the sun was setting we heard something.....a loud "BUM!" The council suddenly went silent before it was followed by repeating BUM,BUM. All the elders stood and looked towards the door wondering about the sound being made.

"Those are...drums?" An elder asked as I realized the sound was drums! Our drums! They were pounding forming some basic rhythm but it wasn't planned by any of the elders. I looked over at father and my brother but they both looked as equally surprised....what was happening?

Collin and Alexander looked at the door as if terrified they were being betrayed. The tribes of old might have planned sneak attacks during a council but we are not like that anymore. But what was going on?! D-Did the villagers take action into their own hands?!

"What is happening?! Who is beating the drums?!" A fox elder demanded the others to answer but they quickly argued back that they didn't order anything.

Collin and Alexander went to the leather flap door. I went over to them too before the elders quickly followed and we all huddled by the flap door. We then saw what looked like a massive fire outside followed by what sounded like a few people....chanting?

I was the one who pushed the leather flap open and stepped outside to see...huh?

I know the others were worried about a metal one attack or something but this was no fire of chaos. It was a massive fire but it was controlled within a large circle of stones with what looked like a whole massive tree inside it with other large branches at the side ready to keep the enormous flame alive. The flames must have been around 15 ft tall!

Surrounding the massive fire were....the villagers! It was almost like when we opened the flap door all the sounds could be heard...the singing, the friendly chatting, the boasting, and cheering. Some were dancing around the fire while others were sitting on a few logs meant as seats.

They were bringing out massive clay pots filled with berries and edible leaves we had collected over the summer! Then I saw what looked like a gift from the gods themselves! I saw a clay tray being brought out with a massive fish on it. 3 men were carrying it and while they were smiling as if it didn't weigh much I knew perfectly well if one of them left it would be too much for the others. The fish must have been 2 feet wide and 6 feet long! It was already carved for everyone to have a bite and I just wanted to leap at the chance!

I knew what was happening! It was a celebration! But for what? I don't remember Akia reminding anyone of a traditional celebration day? Doesn't matter I'm going to get me some of that fish!

I ran off like a puppy towards where all the food was gathering as the elders and Collin looked at what was happening.

(Collin's view)

This....doesn't seem like a hostile dance and I can actually see many of the agents also in the crowd of the villagers dancing around but the majority looked at them as if lobsters were crawling out of their ears.

I didn't know what to think either....is this a good thing? Maybe it was a holiday for them? Should we join or leave them be? It doesn't look like we're being offered up as sacrifices or anything and I think if they have councils and leaderships they must not preform ritualistic sacrifices.

"What is this? Why are they celebrating?" A wolf elder asked as Teryal stepped forward in front of them all and with a look as if he was horribly betrayed or something.

"Unbelievable....I can't they would do this!..." He said to himself but loudly as everyone looked at him. A chill ran up my spine before-

"Planning a party without informing me! I SHALL BE THE MOST FUN ONE TO SHOW THEM THE ERROR OF THEIR WAYS!!!" He exclaimed as I just stood there looking at him as if he was serious. A few of the cranky elders rubbed their eyes with their thumb and index finger, I could tell they were thinking "and this guy is the strongest and wisest among us?"

Teryal went right into the fray of the party and began dancing with the others and laughing with the others. I saw Zio join in too and a majority of the elders went to sit down and eat while the rest began to dance too.

Alexander and I were the only ones still standing there and we were both confused what to do, what to think...pretty much confused in everyway possible.

We then saw Travis standing outside of the crowd looking at the tribals dance and celebrate for some unknown reason. I went up to him while constantly looking over at the party slowly growing in numbers, noise, and fun.

"Hey." I asked feeling somewhat awkward.

"Hey." He repeated back as there was a pause.

"Do you...have any idea what's going on?" I asked as he shrugged.

"No idea. I saw them preparing food and that fire place right there but I figured they were going to have a feast. I didn't know there was going to be a celebration of some kind."

"Did any of the tribals say something important today? You don't think this might be a bad thing right?"

"Doesn't look bad. Carter bitched that they were going to cook us but I will admit they did keep this secret from us. I don't know what any of this is about...." He said with another pause.

"What did the elders decide?"

"Huh?"

"About our weapons? Alex told me they were going to talk about our weapons. Are we going to have to get rid of them?" He asked as if expecting bad news.

"Actually...they decided to let us keep them." I said with a smile as he blinked surprised.

"Really? Did they say why?"

"No. I figured they just honored us and our weapons."

"Well I think we've just about settled in here. A couple of agents were already being shown how to harvest the food and where they were going to patrol during the night."

"This is really happening isn't it?...Travis...we've made the first co existing settlement between humans and aliens."

"I guess when we get home we'll be in the history books. We're going to have to start looking around for anyways to find a portal home Collin...I don't suppose you have any idea where to begin looking?" He asked, as I was just about to nonchalantly answer no.

But then my heart beat weirdly and I just couldn't open my mouth...My mind had a stinging feeling at the side just above my right ear...Do I have an idea where to begin looking?....then it hit me. The sudden acceptance from the council wiped my short-term memory.

The cave....

"I...I might have an idea." I asked as Travis turned his full attention to me.

"You're serious? O-Okay lets hear it." He said looking hopeful but I wasn't so sure myself.

"First you must promise to keep this secret for awhile. Castro and I went out exploring after showing our weapons to the tribals...we got separated and I found something very out of place in the woods....a cave."

"A cave?...I suppose that's odd but its not entirely unbelievable."

"This wasn't just some hole in the rocks Travis...this cave as massive. Literally big enough get our Humvees inside it....side by side."

"So a wide tall cave opening...interesting. Was there anything else?"

"Castro said that it was forbidden by the shaman to go near there, which is one reason why I'm asking you to keep this secret...the thing though that really got me wondering about that place was what happened after I discovered it."

"What happened?" Travis asked crossing his arms.

"...An android was there." I said as Travis's eyes went wide and I saw goosebumps on his arms.

"A-An android? You're sure?"

"Yeah...I'm sure because I killed it. But it was doing something odd...I can't be certain but I swear Travis I swear it was looking at a map."

"What?"

"Some sort of hologram or something I don't know. It was mapping the area but this area was important to it." I said as Travis looked around to make sure no one was listening before he nodded letting me continue.

"Androids don't appear to care for woods, wheat, or rivers...so why does this cave make this android stop? Like you said it was a bit out of place but if androids have been there before how could they miss that? If that android knew where it was going, what it was looking for why bother looking at its map." I then began to wonder deeper into my troubling thoughts.

"And that's another thing...these are machines Travis. They don't feel, they don't ask questions, but this one was curious about a cave...It didn't enter it like a mindless machine would it stopped and looked into the darkness like I did...not to mention-"

"What? What happened Collin?" Travis asked as I looked at the ground before looking back up now more troubled than ever.

"It saw us Travis...I know it saw me in the bushes. We made some noise and instead of firing wildly into the bushes the android came to examine it...like it did with the cave. IF these were mindless killing machines why not just fire into the bushes rather than examine it? Even if we were wildlife...why wouldn't it fire?" I repeated before thinking...

Why not...If their goal was to wipe out everything why not start with the birds, why not burn down that forest? Travis saw how haunted I looked by my words and he thought for a moment before saying.

"Alright...if you can convince the walking animals to let us check it out can gather some men...how many do you think we'll need?" He asked as I shook my head not knowing.

"I don't know...20...maybe more? We killed an android and I don't want a squad of men being ambushed if the androids look for the body." I said as Travis...

"Yeah...like what I did." He said as I was confused before remembering what happened at the plane. Travis sent out 7 men and only 3 of them came back. God Travis.

"Travis don't. We had no idea what was happening back then. Those men volunteered to go." I said as he shrugged.

"I know...but I only wish I knew beforehand."

There was nothing more to be said on that....Because I wished the same.

Then the drums were replaced by the sounds of what sounded like...huh? T-Those sound like violins! I looked over to the crowd almost forgetting a party was going on and I saw about 6 tribals holding these familiar but weirdly shaped instruments. I also saw something close to a tambourine being played while the drums were pounded softer and replaced with smaller but higher pitched beats of music.

The crowd let out a cheer in unison as nearly everyone was dancing. I saw them spinning in circles and focused most of their movements in their hips and legs. This caused their tails to spin around which I was starting to think was the purpose of it.

Then we saw a number of girls who were dressed very different from the rest. They came out with nearly see through clothes but they still covered the private areas...but not much else if you looked for long enough. All but one began to dance in what was a similar way to belly dancing....In fact I would have to say the clothes looked quite similar to what bellydancers wear.

They were numerous shining little rocks the jingled with each movement as the males look very entertained. Castro was also gawking at them but had his attention focused on the middle one who wasn't dancing...Iona.

Iona then began to chant in the heavenly voice! I couldn't make out what she was saying but with the beat of the music and cheering of the tribals this music does sound like the celebrative, positive kind of singing. Whenever she stopped her chanting one of the tribals playing the violin looking instrument performed a solo.

It made wonder if their dances are similar to ones that gypsies on earth use. I never did learn much about them and I was curious about their culture but sadly class decided to skip that topic.

But it appears the music draws in people! I then saw the agents being pulled into the crowd either being asked to dance, drink, or eat. A few were trying to insist that they were fine but the tribals weren't taking no for an answer. For each agent there was probably 3 tribals pushing them to join the festivities.

It was kind of funny seeing how not even 5 tribals trying to insist Alexander to sit down weren't enough. It was like he was waiting for my approval to go with them because he looked over at me and I just shrugged thinking nothing bad will happen.

"Well we should probably find some seats too. Besides I could use a bite to eat." Travis said stretching out his body as if ready to get a big meal.

I realized I never did eat any of the tribal food yet since I've been here. I've not been eating a lot and all of it has been the canned food we salvaged from the wreck. I suppose now would be as good a time as any.

Travis and I found seats on the south west side of the massive burning fire. I already saw a group of tribals lift a log and throw it into the fire. The fire sparks coming off of the log landing, the snapping of burning wood and the smell of a campfire but 10 times stronger, It was pretty nice...my dad and I have had campfires, one of which I'm sure was a large as this one haha...back in those days.

The tribals were dancing and looked overjoyed about something, which felt awkward for the agents just sitting down wondering what was happening. I got to admit the reason why this is taking place now is fascinating to me...the other elders didn't know but tribal elders are sure to know about any traditional festival. Hmm-

As Travis and I were just about to get comfortable I saw a crowd of tribals girls holding jars filled what looked like water and juice of some kind, others were holding trays of food the most impressive being a large fish surrounded by all sorts of colorful berries.

"Oh-Oh over there!" They said pointing at us before quickly surrounding Travis and I.

"Here try this!"

"You must try this!"

"I worked on this all day please enjoy!"

"It was made from the freshest berries!" They kept saying as we were pummeled by amounts of food the likes of which I thought we would never see again. I helped myself to a little bit of everything. Feeling thirsty I first grabbed a jar filled with a thick purple liquid.

Placing the cold jar to my lips I took a cautious drink before my eyes opened and I was amazed...that...that had to be the sweetest thing I had ever tasted! Not that it was a bad thing I liked it! I took another drink of it and was met with an equally satisfying stimulation going through my throat down to my stomach!

Next I was trying all sorts of fish, berries, and leaves. All of them were amazing literally not a single one of the tasted bad. Some of them were quite similar to Earth berries now that I think about it.

Just as quickly as they came the girls left when they saw another group of agents sit down. Travis and I were left with a large cooked fish on a stick. I wasn't usually a huge fan of fish but I was making an exception for these people! I didn't like an overpowering taste of fish but I also didn't want a burned piece of meat and they somehow managed to cook it just perfectly to meet my selfish taste! Haha!

The music was becoming a lot more uplifting and the musicians started dancing around but not so much that it ruined the flow of music. It did sound like gypsy like music but there was that hint of tribal music, not that I'm an expert on music or anything I love instrumental and chorus music.

Sadly though it appears not every agent was a fan of this. I saw one agent who was still holding out by refusing to sit down. Instead of watching these fascinating aliens dance he's messing around with what looked like an Ipod. Really? Oh well as long as it doesn't make trouble.

"Got to admit I'm tempted to go up and dance with those tribals." Travis said out of nowhere as we both chuckled. Yeah right going up there looking like idiots. The tribals looked like they were dancing in all sorts of weird but majestic ways....you know I think this is the first dance I've ever attended in like...years...

"Yeah who knows there James Bond maybe you will-" I was about to tease Travis before suddenly a tiger girl came right up to Travis grabbing onto his lower arms with her hands and was pulling him up! It was Iona! I didn't even notice her exiting her solo singing as the other dancers girls were doing solos now. Travis looked caught completely off guard with a nervous face the likes of which almost made me want to burst out laughing.

"Well come on then! Join the fun!" She said as she took the lead in dancing as Travis looked like a 9th grader at prom or something. I chuckled at his little misfortune but it doesn't look like the others minded the humans dancing, most of them awkwardly. I kept to my seat not wishing to dance...Because....Ah oh well not that it matters.

(Castro's view)

Wow! I can't believe I didn't know this was being planned all day! I helped myself to as much fish as possible before drinking down a whole jar of Helga berries! I was already being scowled at the old women who worked hard on preparing the food for everyone and I was making hours of work disappear in minutes.

But it didn't matter because this was a fun night! It would be a waste not to eat, dance, and sing to one drops to the ground! Iona has such a lovely voice. I was attracted to her looks and spirit before but when I heard her sing I thought I wanted her above all others.

But I can see she is quite busy with that sickly looking human! Haha the man looks so scared as if dancing with a spirit! I saw the humans were trying to get into the flow of the dancing and a few of them were.

I went into the massive crowd dancing and cheering around the fire and decided to dance until I drop! While there is no actual great honor at being the last person standing during a night dance it sure makes a funny conversation for the next few days.

I saw everyone here. My father was always one to join in on fun which made him feel so approachable to everyone, my brother was dancing with a young woman who even though he swears are just friends I know she looks at him more than that. Boris was eating as much food as possible and unlike me the women wouldn't have the courage to tell him to stop. The massive human Alexander was looking at him from afar as is scoffing him at being so barbaric but I can see a healthy amount of food surrounding him too...are they really seeing who can eat more? Azah shows these fools some wisdom haha!

Akia was tending to the flames and she was smiling the whole time...its been a long time since I've seen her smile during a celebration, she is normally so dutiful but she looks more relaxed now. I even saw Fenrien in the crowd too but it was clear he was trying to avoid me and the humans. Ah you spoiled brat this was a feast of acceptance!....then my mind wondered...

Everyone was here...except...where is Collin? I stopped dancing looking around. D-Did he leave?...was there something wrong or is he just too busy. I can't believe a frown appeared on my face at a time like this but such a nice friend shouldn't always be so serious about his duties. I let out a sigh thinking I wouldn't be able to continue enjoying myself while knowing Collin was just sitting in his tepee planning mubo-jumbo stuff.

Then as if Kesran, the god of parties and companionship, heard my pleads I saw a single human sitting alone with a fish on a stick. He was looking into the crowd happy to see them energetic about the feast but he...looked so left out. Sure sometimes elders are hard to approach but that doesn't mean they should all be left out of the fun!

I dashed up to him taking a seat beside him as he waved at my approach. It was so nice to have a friend now. With my tail wagging occasional hitting his side I looked at with a big joyful grin.

"Are you enjoying yourself Collin?" I asked as he nodded taking another bit of his food.

"Yeah I can't believe your people throw parties like this! I'm glad everyone is having fun." He said as I bumped his side with my elbow this time.

"Everyone but you." I said as he looked at me wondering what I meant.

"Huh?"

"That's right! Come on Collin I know you think being an elder means you have to be serious but everyone takes a break once in awhile so come on and dance!" I said as he looked flustered by my words.

"U-U-Um no thank you. I-I should really go get some more food-"

"No you shouldn't you should dance with us! What's the matter?" I asked as he looked a bit saddened. He then hang his head low as if committing some crime before he mumbled something. With everyone cheering, the music playing, and the fire crackling I couldn't make a word of it.

W-Was there some kind of moral code I was breaking to the humans? Do they maybe take their leadership so seriously that they don't allow any fun at all in their lives? That can't be Collin has joined me in fun before so why now? Is there something personal about this?

"Huh? I couldn't hear you Collin." I said as he sighed loudly and looked up as if humiliated.

"I-.....I can't dance...."

That made me tilt my head...can't dance? What does that mean? Is it law or something to humans?

"What do you mean you can't dance?"

"I...just can't. I don't know how to." He said as now I was more puzzled than ever.

Can't dance...doesn't know how? What's there to know he has two legs and arms that's all he needs! Was there something I'm missing, there must be!

"I-I'm really not understanding you Collin what do you mean you can't dance?"

"Just that, I don't know...I've never danced before." He admitted as I shook my head not believing there was such a thing. Who can't dance?! What was wrong with him! The other humans can dance so I'm sure this isn't something new to them!

"Come on Collin! I'll show you what you've been missing!" I said as I took his hands...w-wow there are so big just soft...yet he was holding such dangerous weapons before. U-Um!

"No please Come on Castro don't-"

"No excuses elder this is important if you want to be like us!" I said knowing Collin looked uncomfortable now but he'll thank me later. I found an area for us to dance as I began to move my legs and waist to the flow to the music. My arms soon followed as Collin just stared at me. Oh you big fool! Are you really just going to stand there?!

"This is a dance of our elders. It involves moving with the flow of the music like we all do with time or how the water does in a river. To us a river has many parts, smooth and steady currents...fast and powerful rapids! Constant and mysterious Whirlpools! Everyone does his or her part in the river so join in Collin and take any path you want." I said trying to encourage him.

I can see him eyeing the chance to escape its clear to me. The thing he doesn't realize is that I'm prepared to drag him back if he makes a run for it haha! I'm sure he knows it too. Is it really that hard for him to dance? He shows us how to use these strange weapons and somehow he just can't move his body?!

Collin let out another sigh and with his cheeks turning bright red he started moving his hips around in a circular way...well eventually he did, the first few at what I guess were circles the pattern was showing. Then he started moving his feet in unison making a small circle. It looks he was taking a Whirlpool approach.

He then spread out his arms and began snapping his fingers! I heard a click coming from them as all I could do was look at him in awe. I...wasn't sure. He wasn't dancing oddly...well he is but not entirely in a bad way. I kept my pace as then his arms were going up and down, twisting and curling like the dancers with the jeweled clothes do. I was...fixed on him. His movements were...mesmerizing.

Then a long solo from one of the strings musicians came and suddenly Collin changed the way of dancing completely. His legs began to dart up then quickly dash down and about, twisting around the other before slamming down to the ground but quickly repeating. His arms were almost in the position to bow to me but then he quickly hid them behind his back.

A few of the tribals noticed his dance and looked at him with interested eyes. They kept dancing but they looked more intrigued by this human's odd dance. Collin looked at me nervously still but he legs were moving around so quickly I couldn't-

"Hehe this is something we call river dancing. It involves a lot of leg movements." He said as I couldn't help but be impressed. His legs were certainly all over the place. Then a few other humans also joined in on Collin's dance and we could hear the combined force of their stomps making a crack it almost sounded like into the dirt.

Each one of them signaling the other when a combined stomp would take place and I saw a smile appear on Collin's face...I-I guess I did make him dance...so why does it feel like I'm the one who learned something new again?

I noticed two agents keeping out of the dance and one of them was holding this strange glowing object. He also had these strange looking strings going into the machine and into his ears. I was so close to them I could even hear their little conversation.

"Hey man why are you listening to that thing? Where'd you get it anyway?"

"I found it on the plane, I'm surprised the thing even works. Besides it plays music only I like. I'm not a fan of this native stuff."

"Let me listen."

"Okay here. Wow hey!-" The agent said handing over the strange thing but the other agent only grabbed the string. The string snapped off of the glowing object and fell to ground.

Suddenly there was this...majestic sound. It was like the musicians played a different song all together but they were all playing the previous song. The music being played was...sharper but still had a rhythm to it. Not to mention it sounded like there was more than 6 players. The solo parts were loud and long, it was...new to us.

Everyone froze wondering what was happening. We almost thought it was the gods themselves sending music down to us but we saw it was coming from the strange glowing stone. The agents stood there awkwardly, nervous to do anything. They thought they were going to get in trouble and for good reason.

They showed us guns and there was a huge worry about them. Who's to say with this they might panic. It looks far less dangerous than any gun but still. What if it can explode or create fire?!

"The waltz." Collin whispered as what sounded like a whole tribe of instrument players playing a single song together. The song played for awhile before Collin stepped in front of me with a soft smile.

"Hehe...I-Um guess you can say this is like 'our' ancestor dance. I'll show you. Here give me your arms Castro." He said to me as it felt like I was in some sort of dream or broken off of reality itself. But this is just a human dance...I wonder how they dance?

I held my hands up and Collin took them...once again feeling his strong hands but this time he was the one guiding me. Then my whole body tingled when he guided my right arm to his mid back and he placed his on mine!

"Here. Just keep them there through the whole song. " He told me as it felt like I couldn't breath...we...we were so close. It's almost like hugging in our tribe. The left arms were still out but they were tucked in...close to our faces...

He was looking right at me and I was looking at him...Our two people so close...so different yet so similar. W-What am I thinking?! What was happening to me right now?

"Here now step right...now left....right again-Ouch!" He said before I accidently stepped on his foot. I apologized but said he said it was okay. Apparently a lot of people where he comes from also have trouble with the first dance like this.

It wasn't just us doing this now. A few other agents bowed and asked for a dance. It was weird acting so formal for something as a dance. Most accepted and the agents and villagers started dancing like us.

Collin held me so close and we started going in what felt like a circle. We were moving, like a circle while also going around a circle. I was pretty sure Collin was leading I did my best to make sure I didn't step on him again but I know I was making mistakes I must be.

It was...majestic seeing such different people dance in a constant circle...we were equals in life and equals in the flow of time. Yet for this dance....you were holding onto one person...one person going through the time....one companion. "How are you doing so far?" Collin asked as I blinked trying to sort through my thoughts.

"I-Its very...odd. W-...We're..."

"Hm?"

"We're...so close." I said with a blush and Collin looked down to see our chests nearly touching. He didn't looked as shy as me right now.

"Do you want to stop?" He asked me as I thought about it very hard...we...we could stop. But what if there is more to this dance? What if it's a dishonor?...why is my heart feeling so...light right now? Not tilting my head up but my eyes did gaze up at my human friend as I said softly.

"No..."

I continued to dance with Collin. It was like getting lost in time and space with him. He helped me...and saved me...and now we are here. Here in the arms of a young elder...-!

Stop it Castro! What is wrong with me?! This is just a dance!

The music came to what sounded like a sad solo part. One last musician in the weird stone played something of a masterful solo. Each note seemed to have its heart poured into it. It was hauntingly beautiful, as beautiful as life is we all know it comes to an end.

When the music stone came to end the agent who dropped it quickly placed the strong back into it. The rest of us cheered for the music the humans shared with us. It sounded like ours yet it was more...drawn out. If I had to compare it I would think our music focuses more on nature while theirs focused on each individual soul...its like the two were always meant for each other...

"Beautiful! "Amazing!" "The music lovely thing I've ever heard!" The villagers cheered

The agent with the stone looked like he was the one who played it because he bowed like he had performed a play. But-

Collin and I were still in each others arms. Why was he still holding me?...Why was I still holding him? My mind was asking but my body would not react. That was until Iona and Travis came up to us.

"Wow! T-That was...I-I can't even being to say how much I loved that music!" Iona said as she looked at Collin.

"Where did it come from? Is that mysterious glowing stone responsible? " She asked as the other villagers looked at Collin.

Collin was the first to let go of me and he backed away scratching the back of his head while I scratched my arm. I...I wouldn't mind another dance-Curse you brain stop thinking such things!

Collin thought for a moment before looking at Travis who shrugged. They both knew there was no point in hiding. Besides this time the villagers looked more interested than fearful of this new human item.

Collin went over to the human with the glowing box who gave it to him like he was being punished. He looked at it before addressing the crowd.

"Yes...This little thing created the music you heard before. Its something we invented like our weapons but this 'stone' has no hostile uses. We use it for reasons like you do, to celebrate, to relax, or just to enjoy music." He said as the villagers looked at him in awe...such a little thing created music I think none of us could ever hope to match.

"Imagine having a group of music singers and players follow you around wherever you went but you didn't want company. This is what we invented not so long ago in fact. But there is a price to having such a luxury." He said as the villagers tilted their heads.

"This device runs on...energy. I don't know how better to explain but when the energy runs out this device literally becomes a stone. Sadly...we do not think we can obtain the energy it needs here. So as much as I would like to share our culture with your people I think we should only use it for joyous celebrations." Collin offered.

The tribals nodded and whispered before it looked like a majority agreed. It saddened me that it would most likely be awhile for us to hear that music again but I was willing to wait.

"Besides...nothing beats listening to the music in person. This 'stone' is like a toy, while your musicians play for the pleasure of the people they love. I would love it if they would continue to play for as long as they want!" He said as everyone cheered before the musicians got ready to play.

The music played again and this time Collin and I danced like he was before. He copied some of my waist movements. I saw children running around before placing something on the agent's backs. Eventually reached Collin and he turned to see this odd long thing attached to his back. We both stopped dancing as the little girl looked up at us with a smile.

"There now they look this us! Now we are the same!" She said before quickly on her errand. Collin turned around to show this long sticky linen cloth covered in black paint almost like a panthers. I then noticed agents had different colors on them too. Some even had feathers attached to them. Collin seemed to take it as a compliment and continued to dance with his now tail swinging about.

Yes they are like us...and we are like them...we are now one people....

(Collin's view)

Ugh...my head. Ohh where am I? My mind was as much a blur as my vision. Augh I remember dancing and eating...people cheering...and the fire.

Eventually my eyes settled and I saw poles reaching up to a point where the sun was...a tepee...but not mine. The next thing I felt was my clothes...they were messed up so I guess I slept in them. I can't believe I partied all night, I never thought in my life I would ever do something like-

"Mmmm" I heard a voice moan...w-wha?

That voice didn't come from me...I didn't even see what was on my belly. I looked down almost thinking some poisonous snake was taking a nap on my belly...but what was there made my body feel on fire like it was poison almost.

I saw a figure resting his head on my exposed belly. His fur brushing against me as I looked back up at the top of the tepee....C-Castro was sleeping on me! W-What was going on?!

A sudden chill of worry ran through my body. Oh gods what did we do?! I never thought I'd be so frenzied that I would do something like-like that! No it can't be! I-I mean I would feel it right?!

Then what felt like a blessing my memory was starting to come clearer now...I remember dancing...we danced until the moon was over us and-and we ate some more fish...drank some berry juice stuff. Castro was nearly falling over in exhaustion and I decided to carry him back to his tepee...and...and I think he just got to heavy for me to carry in my own tired state and I guess...I guess we just fell asleep on each other.

I brushed away a single drop of sweat thanking god that it was only just that. Castro looked like he was in a comatose state. Still he was grinning like a puppy would after a nice nap and...damn my weakness for puppies.

I carefully made sure when I moved away from him that it wouldn't wake him. Using my hands to keep his head in placed before picking him up and putting him on his bed. He instinctively reached for the linen blankets, which I got for him and tucked him in he let out a blissful sigh before going back to sleep...god that was kinda cute.

Ah stop it Collin back to business. I brushed away as much dirt as I could and tried to straighten myself out...along with my hair. I came out of the leather flap door and was met with an intense bright light. Argh I hate the sun sometimes.

I looked around to see the few others who were up and they didn't look too pretty either. Augh I had to think there was something I had to do...or was it ask? I can't believe I have a hangover...it sucks.

"Sleep well?" A voice asked and I knew who it was right away.

"Like a rock."

"Can't say I fared any better."

"But you didn't sleep with that tiger girl right?" I asked as Travis looked at with me with his jaw open. He must have saw me sleeping with Castro! But I instantly got my mind right.

"I mean that's all it was! We both collapsed and it was exhaustion I swear!"

"Okay good...but yeah are you going to ask about 'that'?" He questioned as I rubbed my eyes.

"Um sure...what is 'that' exactly?"

"The cave" He answered softly and it all came back to me. That's right!...the cave Castro and I found.

"Oh right...I guess I'll have to ask the chief and elders-"

"I already asked around a bit for you." Travis said as I was so thankful for that.

"And?"

"Apparently we can't get permission from the elders or the chief."

"Argh...why not?" Thinking we were already going to have to go into debates and headache inducing negotiations right away.

"Because apparently its sacred ground. We would have to get permission from the shaman and the shaman alone." He said as I nodded.

"Akia...you know Vick was trying to become an apprentice to her. Maybe we might have a chance to ask her." I said as Travis.

"Was coming to get you to do that. Only an elder can ask for such things."

"Well lets go."

Travis and I walked to the shaman's tepee. We passed by the massive fire from yesterday's feast seeing a few people couldn't even get to their tepees to sleep. A lot of the food was eaten but there was still some of it out. A few women already began cleaning up and even though it would be kind of me to help them I had to talk to the shaman as soon as possible.

When we reached the shaman's door I had to stop Travis from just barging in. I told him that the tribe considers such things barbaric and rude.

"Akia. I wish to seek council with you in regards to a sacred place." I asked through the door. I didn't know if maybe she was also passed out from yesterday until I heard a smooth and clear voice answer.

"Come in human elder."

Travis and I entered the tepee and we looked around too see numerous totems and necklaces with odd symbols on them. In the middle of it all was Akia and a fireplace dimly alive.

"I am surprised to see you here so early Collin of the humans. This must be important to you, most do not ask to see me so early in the morning."

"Early? It looks like half the day has passed." I commented as she chuckled.

"Or after a feast like that." I smiled too before she asked again.

"Why are you here Collin?"

"Its something I understand is sacred to your people...a cave located not far from here. In the middle of the woods and very out of place." I said as the atmosphere quickly turned serious.

"That place...yes it is sacred but also dangerous. How do you know of it?" She questioned.

"I was exploring when I found it. I wanted to see what was out there." I said as the flames...looked a bit more alive for some reason.

"Were you exploring alone?" She asked as I paused...remembering a promise.

"Yes."

Then at that moment a loud snap was heard from the fire at her feet before she looked up with a glare. Not violently but harshly like a mother does.

"You were not alone." She called out my bluff.

"Yeah...I was with someone else."

"Who?"

"I promised not to tell. It would get them into trouble."

"I'm going to presume Castro then?" She said with almost a smug smile.

I swore at myself internally.

"Yes and but I had every chance to say no and I didn't. I'm as much to blame if not more to blame than he is."

"I guess there is nothing that can done about it now. You will both be held responsible for whatever comes out of this...but I'm sure you are not here to ask about our culture some more...what happened at the cave that made you so interested in it? Those who travel there say they hear the voices of long lost ones, or feel history swell through their bones or-"

"I would like to know why a metal one was looking at it." I answered as I saw her fur stand up straight at the remark. She looked into the fire as if expecting another snap but nothing came.

"T-This not possible...how?...have they been intruding in our sacred lands before?" She asked into the fire but I don't think she was going to find an answer there. For all I know she could have just spoken out loud accidently.

"I don't know. But you deny shaman ever since we have arrived here your people were directly attacked. Something that is not too common from what I hear." I remarked as she nodded still stunned from before.

"No an attack that size has always been met with a metal one victory. Only a hero could possibly hope to stop something like that...but something is out of order. Ever since your people arrived...I don't know...the gods and spirits have not answered my questions, but I 'know' something is out of balance." She said looking at the totems surrounding us.

"I agree something has changed...and I would like to think its something for the better."

"I'm afraid it is not up to you to say that elder. I would like to think that but the gods do not like prideful remarks." She warned as I nodded my head.

"Of course and I apologize."

"What about the cave do you wish to know?"

"What makes it sacred?" I asked

She took a few moments to calm herself down before answering me.

"A long time ago...one of our people ventured into that cave. His name was Arth. He was said to be wise, careful, and mystical. He went into the cave knowing the gods had placed it there for a reason. He went into the depths of the cave...and it was there he met a spirit he said." She said and I nodded for her to continue. Travis was also interested in the story as well.

"Arth and the spirit were said to have talked for a long time. The spirit gave Arth insight of everything before and after. It was believed that he talked to the spirit for days without food or rest. When the conversation was over the spirit gave Arth an oracle."

"An oracle?" I questioned.

"Yes...you have not seen it have you? I'm afraid Teryal has kept it hidden ever since your people have arrived. The oracle was a gift, it warns us of metal ones when they are nearby. "

"This oracle...i-its not a person is it?"

"We do not know. We believe it to be a gift from the gods, a way to communicate with them. It is formed like a stone but has many other little stones attached to it along with holes in it. At random times it makes a shrieking sound but when the metal ones are near it sounds...different. I couldn't describe it as I had only heard twice in my lifetime.

I placed my right hand over my mouth and thought about it...that is...an odd tale but if that oracle is real than I can see why they regard it as sacred along with the cave...a spirit they say? A spirit lives in that cave?

"What do you want with the cave Collin?" She asked out of nowhere with a serious look. At first I didn't answer. Should I leave it at that? Is it too much to ask to explore it? There must be something bad about that place. But we have to know...

"I wish to explore it."

"I cannot allow that." She answered quickly as I knew that should have happened.

"Why not?"

"That place is cursed. With so many voices and horrifying tales I cannot risk anyone to that place. The gods or the spirit will kill anyone who comes near that place!"

"It didn't kill the metal one." I remarked, as she looked defeated at that point.

"But it doesn't make sense...how? Even you and Castro should have been cursed. Has the whole mystical world been thrown out of order as well? Are places that were once cursed now safe to explore? Are holy lands nothing more but extra lands to settle?" She questioned herself.

"I really don't know...but Akia tell me...do you think there is nothing more to learn from the spirit there?" I asked grabbing her hand as Travis looked a bit shaken from the spirit talk.

Akia struggled to answer. She was looking at any sign but none appeared to answer her. She must have lived her whole life with a sign of some kind, something that guided her and now she has to trust herself.

"I swear to you Akia I will follow any order you give...What do you choose?"

"I-I...there must be....there must be an answer...if the spirit still lives in the cave than it might know what is wrong. Collin...please despite my decision the others might not respect your trespassing. You are not considered our people and they might kick your people out for this."

"Then do I have your promise for your support?" I asked

"Y..Yes"

"That is all I need."

I was about to get up and leave before she looked out and cried.

"WAIT!"

Both Travis and I stopped seeing her struggle.

"That story...I said before...was made up."

"What?"

"It has been changed throughout the years. Each shaman passes the truth onto the other during their deathbed and they are honor bound never to change it to each new shaman. You must know the truth of Arth." She said to me as I sat back down.

"Our people like to think we are wise and powerful, with Arth being one of the most wisest and powerful ever among us because he received a powerful gift...the truth is Arth was only a young man when he entered and he was young, foolish...and a liar."

"The way he told it. He went into the cave thinking there might be treasure but instead....he came to a wall. A large flat wall. He thought he first came to gates of the underworld but he claimed to have spoke his name and the wall...collapsed he said. "

"He never did describe what he found inside there. He said he ventured into the cave scared out of his mind before running into the spirit. He swore on his life he saw a spirit...but he never talked to it...he ran away screaming, not before picking up the oracle."

"He gave it to my ancestors trying to tell them what he saw but none believed him. He left the village on day...no one knows where he went but the oracle does tell us of nearby metal ones...I-I just thought you should know the truth." She said with a struggling voice as I frowned...its hard having to admit a once proud figure is a lie. Worse that you know that it's a lie but you have to keep it secret or else face your people thinking they are worthless.

"Thank you for sharing the truth Akia. I promise I will not tell anyone."

"Me too" Travis added before she looked up again concerned for the both of us.

"But I don't know if the rumors of curses are true. Arth disappeared after that. It is said that if one of our people ever goes there the same will happen to us!"

"That shouldn't be a problem then..." I said looking at the ground before look back up.

"Because some do not think we are your people."

Travis and I prepared some supplies for the journey. He, I, and 16 others were going to explore the cave. 6 were going to patrol the outside while the rest went into the cave it was decided. We needed flashlights, some food, water, and in case if any androids come...guns.

I was scared of course. We were getting cut off from the main group, if anything went run it would literally have to be either hold out and pray we survive a last stand or run hoping we don't get killed back to the village. Sadly our cellphones and walkie talkies are worthless here and are nothing more but glorified bricks.

All of these men were told about the possible danger and rumors of curses and they still decided to come with. I guess I want only the bravest watching my back as we do this. We had the option of taking one of the humvess with us but if we did get ambushed and lost a lot of our firepower would be destroyed or in android hands.

I didn't want only a pistol as we went into hostile territory I was bringing something else. I picked up the Mossenburg shotgun since it would be best for close encounters which will most likely happen in woodland areas or god forbid the cave.

"Alright you all know the drill, watch each others backs and say when you are reloading or hear something. We need to look out for anything that might be a threat. Lets move out!" Travis ordered as we left the village.

We brought only agents with us. I don't think it would have been smart to take the tribals with us if they believe they will be cursed if they enter the cave. I looked back at the village hoping everything would be okay. I was actually hoping this would be nothing more but an over resourced scouting mission.

This may be the last time I see Kanza.

When we got to the edge of the woods we stopped and waited for the others to catch up. Hearing the all clear from one of the agents we all pointing our weapons into the woods and cautiously made our way through.

I had to be at the front of course since I was the only one that knew what I we were looking for. The problem is I found the place on accident. I never made any marks to guide me back to the place.

"So how far in the forest do we have to go?" An nearby agent whispered to me.

"Not far. I found the cave while going in for about 15 minutes. Look for a clearing but don't just rush out."

"Don't worry I won't" He told me. I don't think anyone wants to take any chances.

It felt like hours passed but it couldn't have been only 30 minutes but I was slowly thinking we must have passed it. Suddenly I saw a fist get raised up in the air.

Everyone took cover behind a nearby tree except for the agent looking down at the ground. We waited for the all clear before we went up to him.

"Look" He pointed to something in the ground. An impression.

It was large but it was not a human footprint...well it was but no one was in barefeet...

"We didn't make that" Travis said

"Neither could any of the tribals." I said as we knew what it was...an android footprint.

"Get ready...for all we know they might be watching us right now." Someone said as we knew it every well might be true. Travis was the first to see there was more than one footprint...but a single trail of them.

"Follow the trail. It looks like a single one went this way. Men in the front look towards the ground for any traps. The middle will look at our sides and above. The men in the back will cover our backs." He said as we all took our positions....and I was one of the front.

I was the 3rd in line but that didn't stop me from examining the ground for any abnormalities. I know these things set up traps...I fell into one when the plane first crash...the fricken rope was attached to the thing! What if these things planned to capture us and dissect us? The thought makes my blood freeze.

We stopped once when a frenzied bird brushed a lot of leaves creating the illusion someone was watching us. I almost fired the second I heard it and no doubt everyone would have followed.

Eventually we stopped when we heard the front agent say.

"Hey!...is that what were are looking for?" He whispered loudly as I went forward.

There in the distance I saw a clearing...and in that clearing a large pile of rocks with a dark entrance...it was the cave.

"Yeah...that's it." I confirmed as Travis nodded.

"Alright everyone get into positions. Do not go until I say go." He told everyone softly as we all got to our knees and a few went prone. We crawled silently towards the cave. It took like 5 minutes to reached the edge but no one looked at the clearing fearing that would be the last thing we see before a laser hits us right in the face.

I hid in some bushes like I did yesterday. My finger was right on the trigger like before as I waited for the signal. I waited...and waited...

"Go Go!" A heard a loud whisper as we all rushed out and examined the area at once. I expected to hear the ungodly clanking again before an intense firefight but it never came. We slowly covered the area starting from the east all the way over to the west.

"Hey! I found an android!" Someone said as everyone pointed their weapons at the direction. But I had to know something else. I went over to the agent looking over a familiar android...the one I kill before...

It was still there and the bullet hole finally stopped smoking. This time touching it felt like touching nothing more but a bunch of rubble.

"Yeah this is the one I killed before...I guess it didn't send out a signal before I killed it." I said as Travis came up to me.

"Alright the area is secure. The men who volunteered to patrol out here get into cover. The rest of you regroup at the cave entrance.

I got a flashlight and some ducktape and quickly wrapped the flashlight around the shotgun. I had to adjust it a bit but it worked perfectly. The flashlight was a small hardly 4 inches in length but it worked perfectly underneath the barrel and it didn't interfere with aiming for cocking the shotgun.

We waited until everyone was ready. I looked into the darkness like an old friend. A spirit huh?...were you looking back at me? Or are you afraid of us just like we are of you?

"Okay go!" Travis said as all turned our flashlights on. I almost expected it to be horrific like the second we banished the darkness we would see corpses or bones on the walls of the cave...but it was just...empty. A few vines seemed to have peak through but nothing out of the ordinary of an average cave.

"Look out for anything. If you see any loose rocks let us know." He said to everyone and we all answered. "Yes sir"

A few men brought rope just in case if there was a hole or something in the ground and we wanted to explore it...or in worst case scenario someone falls in. So far the ground is...oddly perfectly smooth. Hardly a bump to be spotted. The same goes to the walls.

There was nothing odd about this cave except for how perfectly smooth it all looks. But I wasn't about to let my guard down for that.

"Collin you said the shaman told you the last guy came to some wall?"

"Yeah but she couldn't describe it. She did say it collapsed so maybe we already passed it." I said to the agent who asked the question.

It was pitch black in the cave. Even with so many lights we could only clear what the flashlights pointed at. Maybe we should set up some torches or something.

5 minutes passed and this cave seemed to go on forever. We probably traveled like 100 feet into the ground or more. It was angled going downward but not enough if you say slipped and would slip down to the bottom.

Also the cave wasn't getting any smaller. It stayed the constant width and height. That was very odd for a cave but we had to continue.

Then out of nowhere we heard a loud ripping sound!

"Ah shit!" An agent cursed as his flashlight ripped off his weapon and bounced down the cave.

We all pointed our flashlights towards the agent then to the flashlight, it went about 50 feet ahead of us. We could see the light bouncing off the wall...the problem is our flashlights went about only 20 feet into the darkness.

"Ah hell man...do I really have to go further?" The agent with no light complained before 2 others volunteered.

"Nah man we'll follow you." One said as they both pointed towards the ground. It was like a game of hopscotch as the agent only walked on what the light showed. We all went in further too but the 3 were leading now.

Thankfully the agent reached the light.

"Oh thank god. I am so not-AH!" He suddenly screamed and we all jumped thinking he saw the spirit or maybe bodies.

"What WHAT?!" Travis barked as the 3 agents looked into the darkness...

"H-Holy shit..." One of the whispered...I couldn't see anything and it was scary seeing 3 men look into darkness like that. But we all went forward too. And bit by bit...we saw what they came too...a wall.

But this was no ordinary cave in or something...this was really a 'wall' It was perfectly smooth except for some hollow lines running East to West...and at the middle there was a circle....what in gods name?

We all approached the wall and touched it...it was cold but it wasn't rock...it was steel but not that either...it felt stronger than that.

"Nothing we have could put a dent in this thing it looks like" An agent said before pounding at the door.

Arth sure as hell wasn't lying about the wall this is something the tribals couldn't possibly make. Oh shit! What if it's the androids?! But...that doesn't explain how Arth got in there and came out with no androids shooting at him...at least the story says he doesn't maybe he was shot at for all we know.

"Well...I think this is the wall that Arth guy mentioned...how did he get it open?" An agent asked.

"He said he just said his name and it opened for him" Travis answered as Travis looked up and said loudly and clearly.

"ARTH!"

......Silence....dead silence. Even the wind from outside couldn't make it in here. Travis cleared his throat again and yelled.

"ARTH!!!"

Nothing....

"I don't get it. She said he only mentioned his name right?"

"You think maybe it reacts to your true name or something?" Someone offered and we all figured it couldn't hurt.

"TRAVIS!!" Travis yelled....and still no visible reaction.

"Goddammit well he was sure as hell lying about how he got in." Travis despaired.

This doesn't make sense...what was this thing? How did Arth get in here before? The other agents came together and started discussing ways to blow the thing open. The most fearful was using all our grenades for to blow a hole 'around' the wall but that would cause a cave collapsed and we would deal with 2 walls then.

I decided to examine the wall more carefully. How did this thing get here? What could this possibly be? I walked alongside the wall thinking if there was a weakpoint we could try to blow it up then but this thing was solid. The wall was reached the height of the cave and looked just as wide if not wider. We could try to dig but that would take everyone in Kanza to reach this depth in a reasonable amount of time.

I kept walking reaching the right side of the cave thinking it was helpless. There was something we were missing. Then I heard another rip sound and another flashlight fell. "Dammit" an agent said knowing it made everyone jump but they quickly went back to talking. I only happened to be looking to where the light pointed too and-

Suddenly I saw something. It was quick because the light went away but I saw something...while the light bounced off of the rocks to the side...the was a deeper darkness right alongside the wall.

I pointed my flashlight seeing almost a closet light room alongside the wall! What the hell? I approached it carefully. It was indeed a hole...but wasn't natural...it looked made for this. It was 7 ft high and 5 feet wide about...just enough to fit someone in.

Also it wasn't that deep. I thought it looked like it went forever into the darkness but it was only about 10 feet into the rocks. It was cramped so I had no choice but to take off the flashlight from my shotgun and wrap my shotgun around my back thanks to the strap. But I took out my pistol holding it in my left hand as my right held the light.

I went into the oddly place room and saw nothing ahead of me. I looked up seeing the rocks again thinking it was just a waste of time...that was until I looked at the wall...and I swear I see it but its faint...very faint...

I see this weird light blue light. Its so faint I'm sure someone not looking carefully would miss it. But there is no crack in the wall from what I can see. I put my pistol back in its holster and reached out with my left hand to touch it.

Then I heard a "Boup!" Which made me jump back and let out a scream. In front of me appeared a-a.

"Collin? Collin?! Collin where are you?!" Travis said hearing my scream and I didn't want to scare them but the truth was I was scared out of my mind right now. I had to beat the brick in my throat as I called out.

"Y-Yeah I'm here!" I said before pointing my flashlight over to the entrance to this little room.

"There!" Someone said and the mass of agents gathered at the entrance of the little room. No one in hell they could all fit in here. I think this was only meant for one person. Travis's voice broke through the crowd as he asked.

"Collin?! Are you alright?! What can you see?"

I looked back at the blue light but it was no longer faint...it was bright...and it had formation. It was as large as a book.

"Collin what are you seeing?" Travis asked again as everyone seemed to hold their breath.

"A-A......A keypad." I answered as they said "huh?" and "wha?" together.

"A what?" Travis asked and I answered again.

"It's a keypad."

It was a keypad but it had no numbers...it had only letters....our letters...our alphabet. A through Z I examined each letter carefully and I pressed U on it and suddenly a separate screen came up and showed a U on it...i-its.

"What was that beep sound?!" Someone said.

"It's a hologram...a hologram keypad!" I said, as everyone looked shaken.

I can't believe this...there was no way the tribals made this stuff I-It had to be android made! Should we even take the chance and open this?

I then noticed something odd on the keypad. There was also deletion buttons and a confirm but that wasn't it...On the side written very small on the right hand corner of it was "S-A-F-E WRH" What does that mean? I can see the word 'safe' but the WRH is gibberish.

"H-Hey!" I got everyone's attention thinking maybe there was a chance.

"Maybe-Maybe Arth pressed in his name here" I said as the agents looked around and thought about it. There's a concern though....what if we are wrong again and some sort of defense mechanism triggers and we all get blasted apart from lasers or something.

"Go for it Collin" Travis said as they left the entrance and looked ready to fight if necessary. I deleted the U and pressed in A..........R.................T...........H. I had my finger ready to press the confirm button as I called out.

"Alright I'm about to press the confirm button! Get ready!" I said as they shouted back.

"READY!"

"Pressing it now!" I screamed before pressing confirm and I heard a loud

"Eeee-rrrrr" It sounded with a low negative tone. I thought this was it. That spikes might come out of the wall and impale me or I would hear Travis and the others die...but nothing happened again.

"Collin? You pressed it right? Something happen?" Travis asked as I looked at the second screen empty now except with something written on top. "Wrong passcode"

"I-It says it's the wrong passcode." I said as they sounded confused.

"It said that?"

"Yeah right above the screen 'Wrong Passcode'!" I said back

"Try it again!" someone said as I did.

I retyped Arth and the same thing happened.

"I don't get it...hey is there a period button?" Someone asked. I searched for a moment before finding it.

"Yeah!"

"Press that in at the end of Arth then confirm!"

I did and the same thing.

"Son of a bitch!" I cursed as I was getting frustrated. So close yet so far! What are we missing?!

"Maybe the words...are jumbled! Arth could be anything try something like...Hat!"

Eeee-rrr

"Rat!"

Eeee-rrr "Tar!"

Eeee-rrr

"Maybe Hart!"

Eeee-rrr

"Fucking come on!" One of the agent cursed because each time they were getting ready for the thing to open and each time it's a false alarm. Arth had to be lying there's just no way. And there's no way a simple passcode could travel down generations of history to the tribals.

"Hey Collin...try Heart. " Travis said as I figured mind as well maybe Arth added in a letter to his name.

"Heart" I said before pressing confirm.

Eeee-rrr"

"No.." I answered, as I knew every felt ready to scream. We could be here all day trying to figure out a passcode. For all we know we could be completely wrong in the letters and god help us if those letters are something like AKLTIDDPOEK or some other crap.

I sat down and looked over to the entrance my back was to the wall as I figured we would either have to go back or set up for the night. A good nights rest sounds fine right now. We did pack up some blankets and a few agents brought some tribals axes so we can make a campfire and cook up some food.

Its like those camping nights with Dad...fishing, gathering wood, watching him lite the fire, making smores....talking...happy...then looking up at the moon and stars. Where did my life go so wrong?

Here I am on an alien planet and here we have the potential for major discovery and whats blocking us? Some mythical guardian? No a freaken password. I don't even think hacking could be an option here it's a hologram.

I could certainly use another drink like last night right now. How we danced...how carefree we were and how happy I was just to fall to the ground and look up at the moon and stars like back ho-...

A sudden chill hit me....the moon....the stars....my heart felt ready to burst...or maybe it was my mind...w-was I going insane a-am I really thinking this? B-But what are the odds. No it has to be crazy...but...still.

Wheat...berries....birds...tribals....moon....stars....Sun...how could I not see it before? But I thought those were just common things. Something that all humans are use to. I thought we were millions of light years away and for good reason. That portal is nothing like we have back home...but we are-

I couldn't even believe myself as I got back up and said.

"Guys!....I got one last idea. Get ready!" I said as I heard moaning but I saw them get ready in time.

I did type in Arth this time in that order...but with something added...If it works I don't even know what the hell I'm going to say. I typed it in and looked at the confirm button...The moment of truth...what if doesn't work what then...but what if it does? I literally had to use my other hand to make my other hand press the confirm button. I had gotten so use to the Eee-rrr that I was ready to punch the keypad if it didn't work. And when I pressed it I heard-

Beerrr bing!

Suddenly an intense light blue light blinded me and I ran out of the little room and towards the agents who saw the light too.

"WHAT DID YOU DO?!" They screamed as sudden the once hollow lines on the door began to glow...like two rivers the both came towards the circle and when the hollowed lines were full the center circle glowed an intense white with some light blue in it.

Then we heard a loud echoing "Crugggg!"

A few pebbles dropped to the ground and I had feared I caused a cave collapsed before seeing it was...it was the wall! The 'Crag' came from in-between the now glowing lines as some dust escaped. The doors slowly went into the ground sliding down like a rusty piece of metal but the long lined hole it sank into still glowed light blue.

Everyone was in a state of shock including myself...i-it worked! I-IT WORKED!!! But we still only saw darkness ahead of us. I was hoping for more light but it almost looked like it continued to go deeper into the ground.

"You were right....about the letters." I said to Travis as he looked at me.

"It did have every letter Heart was made of and it did have Arth's name in it..." I said as Travis looked in awe.

"W-What did you enter?" "What other place do we know that contains life? What place has organic material? What place has wheat and berries? What place has a moon, a sun, and stars...and not just any stars...stars with the same constellations as ours?" I asked numerous questions as Travis looked frightened to answer...and I was frightened myself as I looked at him and answered...

"Earth..."

Travis stood there stunned at what I said but I had long accepted my insanity of the situation.

"B-But I thought I heard a tribal refer to this planet as Earth before! I-I" Travis said in the state of disbelief. I wanted to consul him but I couldn't help in that right now...because I was the first who thought of it.

The agents moved cautiously into the darkness before a loud

"Pung!" And then sudden lights coming from the ceiling brightened up the entrance. Followed by more "Pungs" as we saw...section by section...metal and doors but also many things in the middle...

A bunker...a large underground bunker!

"What the fuck man?! What the fuck is going on?!" An agent said hysterically as one tried to comfort him. I walked forward seeing there were 2 floors to this place...and oddly enough each door had a name over it...Johnsons...Belvins.....Gomez....last names...family names. Above it all...on top of the ceiling was SAFE W.R.H.

What does this mean?

I didn't even look back at the other agents as I approached a door saying "Research 14" room. It had a massive window but it looks dark inside. I would shit myself if a fucking jumpscare happened right at that moment. Then I probably shot the hell out of it.

I then went to the door but there was no doorknob or anything...were we locked out? What was this place? D-Do the androids live here? Jesus...imagine...maybe all this time the androids were living beneath our feet.

The whole place was haunting you could fit a huge city in here. The "Pungs" were still continuing show how deep and big this place really is. I touched the door but in split-second in sank into the ground like the wall outside! I quickly got my pistol out after that! I also grabbed my flashlight seeing...a room filled with c-computers! Computers and chemistry sets it looks like!

I stepped in and on instinct I looked over at the sides of the door...a weird knob pointing down...is this...I flipped it up and then suddenly the whole room became illuminated in light!...a light switch...

I walked in to see books on tables...odd liquids still in bottles...some labeled some not. It looked like a classroom almost but it was the lecture and the lab combined into one room because there were 30 seats going at a downward angle with a decent size screen...a theater it looked like...w-what

"Collin.." Travis whispered and I jumped.

"Fuc-Jesus Travis! Don't sneak up on me like that!" I complained but he didn't seem to care.

"W-What have we found?"

"I have no idea"

I looked around so more before seeing an archives room. I can tell because of the "Archives" above the door. I bumped Travis and pointed towards it. He nodded and we both got on each side of the door.

"1....2.....3!" I said touching the door and it slide open. Travis with his M16 and my pistol out went into the room and thanks to the light outside could see two large walls of books...books but they looked incredibly old. Like they would turn to dust on the touch. There were some cobwebs too and dust was littered everyone. Not only in this room but through the whole bunker it looked like.

We saw some other agents come in and we didn't even know what to think. We found something...we don't know exactly what but we found something big! In this middle of the archives room was this massive table it looked like. Some agents looked for a light switch but said it wasn't there.

"Guys...I have no idea where we are or what this even is but we-we might-" I was about to say as one agent went over to the table and leaned on it sudden there was a loud.

"WWWWHHHHOOOOOOSSSSSSHHHH!" that went through the room and then suddenly a light blue figure appeared!

"HOLY SHIT!!" Someone screamed before we unleashed hell on it. Travis fired his M16 while the two other agents fired their pistols and the things almost seemed to stretch out to each blast fired at it. W-Wait is that-?! "Stop-Stop! STOP!!!!" I screamed as they did and they did. The light blue creature moan in this inhumane groan.

"Eeeerrrrtyoi....mmmhhasdokkk" It shrieked before it suddenly was becoming clearer.

"Eeeeiiiiiiii'mmmmm....duckktoraas Elllisaasdpa" It was speaking something!

I went over to where the agent leaned before seeing something like a control panel...but there was only 4 buttons "Stop, Rewind, Forward, and Pause." I pressed the rewind button.

The figure jumbled a bit before my rewind did nothing. The figure came clearer as did its words...it looked....like it had two legs...I think.

"IIIIIIIIIII'MMMM Kresh- Docutooorrrr-" It moaned not so ugly now but still I rewinded it again...and this time it looked like it was all fixed now.

But what was looking at us...was something I had thought never to see again. All of our eyes fix on the light blue figure as if it was a spirit...maybe because to us it mind as well be. The figure almost seemed to be looking at us but it had to be a recording...the figure....the figure...

The figure was a man....dressed in a lab coat. He looked in his 50's maybe with small reading glasses on. His arms were behind his back as if he was giving a professional speech. He looked a bit serious at the moment too as he looked over to something at the side and said to it.

"So it is working?" "Yes" A voice said as the man cleared his throat and began speaking to what I was guessing was....was this table all along.

"I am Doctor Ellison. I live here in SAFE W.R.H. and teach room number 14." He said as we never thought to hear another human voice again...or of what he said next.

".....Our current location.....38 miles Northwest of Des Moines, Iowa. United States year 2055....."
