#13 of -A Name, Not A Number-

Memories and events that never happened flashed through Ky's mind as sleep seemed to constantly tighten and release him from its grasp. Random sounds came and went as all his thoughts jumbled together. The wolf opened his eyes slightly, trying to decipher the different light into recognizable shapes. After a couple of minutes, he was able to open them completely and figure out where he was. He recognized a painting on the white wall of the familiar room. It was one of his favorite abstracts that Tobias had painted. The lupine closed his eyes and nuzzled his head back into the soft pillow. He inhaled the cool air of his mate's room deeply, feeling the slight effect of the copious amount of oxygen. Before pushing the air out of his lungs, he turned towards the door, hearing a noise come from that direction.

A large sigh escaped his lungs as he smiled, seeing the beautiful face of his love. A content feeling came over him the husky started walking towards the bed. Ky jumped, feeling a sudden depression on the other side of the bed as his mate appeared next to him. The wolf dismissed the oddity and leaned forward, yearning a kiss from the one he loved. He soon received it and felt warm feelings emanate from the body lying next to him.

Ky slid one of his paws up the blanket of the bed but was shocked to feel the sensation of warm granules of sand, instead of the familiar feeling of the comforter that usually covered his boyfriend's soft bed. He broke the kiss and looked around to see himself on a beach, the same beach that he and his love had gone to once. The sun was falling behind the horizon in the same way it did on that one day.

The wolf was utterly confused, but didn't ponder on it for too long. He just focused on the beautiful creature that remained with him, as they journeyed through several familiar places. One moment he was sitting on a wooden porch, watching a storm, then the next he was receiving a kiss in the pool. Memories and feelings of love completely immersed the lupine as all these unexplainable things came and went.

Ky tried to focus on certain things but soon, everything became muddled together and soon started becoming nothing. Patches of darkness spread, hiding things that he didn't want to lose. A panicked feeling came over him as he felt as if he were sinking in a mass of water. Darkness soon took over and emotions, senses, and thought seemed to dissipate as the light did.

Tobias tried to regain his composure, sitting in the back seat of Josh's mother's car. He continuously swallowed the painful knot that seemed to form in his throat every time he swallowed. He looked blankly out the window of the car as it headed towards the hospital. Tears streamed down his face as thoughts of Ky raced through his head. He tried to figure out what had happened in the house just awhile ago, but couldn't decide on one thing. Thoughts of his mate being scared and helpless made Tobias's stomach twist and made him feel like he let him down. His thoughts soon turned to never seeing the beautiful wolf ever again, which immediately broke the emotional knot that held the husky together. Tears and whimpers increased as these thoughts pounded in his head. Josh's mother looked through her watery eyes into the rearview mirror, and developed a concerned look, seeing her son's friend so distraught. She applied pressure to the gas wanting to get to the hospital quickly.

The wolf opened his eyes, feeling cool air sweep across them, but saw nothing. He heard the murmur of voices, but could not make them out. The lupine suddenly felt exhausted, realizing how much strength he was using to keep his eyes open. He closed his eyes and rolled his head back in forth, feeling completely disoriented, then drifted back into a deep sleep.

For several hours, the delirious creature tossed and turned, trying to get out of the sleep that held him like mother holding and protecting her child. Dreams and hallucinations flashed through his mind, tormenting the poor wolf. Several times the lupine tried to wake, but soon after, found that sleep's hold on him wouldn't be easily broken. After what seemed like days, Ky finally ripped himself from the sandman's hold, and awoke.

Ky looked around the blurry room, trying to recognize anything that would give a hint to where he rested. He suddenly noticed the annoying sound of a rhythmic, high pitched beeping. The wolf laid there, listening to the constant noise, steadily getting more and more aggrivated at it. He soon let the aggravating sound fade from his mind, and focused on a clock on the wall. He saw the blurry shape, and knew what it was, but couldn't read it. He desperately tried to get some definition and outlines of the clock, but couldn't. Ky soon gave up, and closed his weary eyes. He lay there, thinking, trying to figure out what was happening, when it suddenly hit him. Everything exploded in his head as recollections came to him. The lupine soon started sobbing, the weight of the previous events pressing down on him, as pain started to shoot up from his chest, like burning pins stabbing into him.

After several minutes of agony, his brain decided to block the pain, knowing that Ky was aware of his injuries. The horrific pain slowly subsided and the wolf soon started thinking more sensibly. His sight gradually came to him, and as he scanned the room with his eyes, he was startled to see a husky sleeping, with his head lying on the gurney. Ky's heart skipped, and filled with warmth. Calmness seemed to engulf him, as a warm blanket would, as he gazed upon his love.

Tobias inhaled deeply and rustled a bit before resuming his deep sleep. Despite the pain and incoherence, a smile formed on the wolf's muzzle. For an hour or so, the lupine sat, watching his love sleep, until he slowly started to wake from his sleep. He sat up in the hospital chair he was seated in and rubbed his eyes. Subsequent to clearing his eyes, he looked hopefully up at Ky and was shocked to see him awake. Tobias practically jumped on the wolf, but stopped himself, remembering how hurt his mate was.

Tears formed in his eyes as he opened his maw to say something, but stopped. Nothing he could say would describe his emotion. Words would just confuse things. Instead, he slowly crawled onto the hospital bed and gently wrapped his arms around his mate. The canine smiled lovingly and looked into the warm eyes of his mate.

Ky looked back into the dazzling eyes and admired the flints of light that flickered in the deep orbs that expressed the love they shared. Thoughts passed between them without any words leaving their maws. For a long period of time, they sat there, just embracing the company of each other.

A long time later, Ky asked, "How long have I been here?"

The husky's face became gloomy at the thought, and then answered, "Eight days days. After they took you to the hospital, Josh's mom came and picked me up and took me here. When I arrived, they wouldn't let me see you. We waited in the lobby for hours until a doctor came and said what was wrong. He said that you were shot twice, one in the leg that exited, and one in the torso, and it remained in you. They then surgically removed it, and you have been asleep ever since. I was only allowed to see you two days after the surgery. And I have been here since, besides school and such." Tobias then sighed deeply and asked, "Now, do you want to tell me what happened?"

"Oh wow, I didn't think it was that bad." said the wolf, after looking at the large amount of bandaging on his leg and lower chest, "I don't really remember much. After you and Josh left, I started cleaning the house. Ummm, then, a few minutes after you left, my mom burst into the house. She looked completely distraught. Her eyeliner and mascara were running down her face, her clothes were ragged, her knees were scraped and bloody, and she was holding a gun by her side." Tears started gathering in is his eyes as he recounted the emotional memory, "She started screaming and crying uncontrollably as I tried to calm her down. When I walked towards her to comfort her, she screamed something about me being a useless, mess-up of a son then, next thing I knew, I was on the ground." He started crying uncontrollably and it took several minutes before he recovered and recited the rest of the story. "I-... I looked up at her just in time to see her-... see her... shoot herself in the head. The last thing I remember was a huge amount of pain stabbing in my chest." The lupine then felt the familiar lump in his throat grow back as tears pushed their way away from his eyes. He started heavily sobbing and repeated several parts of the story, asking himself why it had happened.

Tobias lay there and comforted his hurting love for a long period of time. He felt so terrible that this wolf had to go through so much. He thought about how yearned to take his place, so he didn't have to suffer.

////

A couple months passed, before Ky was released from the hospital. Tobias had remained with him most of the time and they had many conversations. Tobias avoided talking about what had happened, even though the story his mate had told him was very incomplete and even though he was very curious. Ky was wheeled out to the canine's van and loaded in. For the time being, the husky had convinced his parents to let the lupine stay with them for the time being. They had several meetings with parental services and such, and had come to the conclusion of letting Ky's aunt take care of him for the next two years, and then he could do what he pleased, for he would be eighteen.

After getting comfortable in the front seat, the wolf said, "You don't have any idea how good it feels to get out of that hosp-... Ha! Wait, you probably do. You were with me most of the time."

"Yeah, but I wasn't the one immobilized." said Tobias as a flint of a smile pulled at his maw, "And I left to go to school, so it wasn't at all the same... Anyway, I am really glad you can finally leave. How long until you can walk?"

Ky buckled his seatbelt and responded: "Well, I am able to walk on my injured leg pretty well, but my chest still hurts pretty bad. They said it shouldn't be but a few days. And the pain killers are sure helping."

"Good, cause I have a surprise for you this weekend."

"A surprise?" asked the wolf, feeling warm inside from knowing how much his boyfriend cared for him, both as a friend and a mate.

"Yep," laughed the canine, "a surprise. But until then, you need to rest."

////

Josh and Kayla had often visited Ky while he was in the hospital, and now that he was out, they hung out a lot. The group of four often watched videos together and had lots of fun doing nothing. Tobias and his mate often secretly admired the lab and tiger's growing relationship, knowing that it would last. They also knew that the four of them were going to be friends for a long time. After awhile, Tobias decided that he needed some alone time with Ky so he decided to keep their two friends out of the fun for the next few days.

////

On Friday, the couple sat on the back porch of Ky's house. His aunt was just beginning to move in, so the two decided to go over there and confront the house that had a copious amount of both amazing, and horrible memories.

The wolf had confronted and fought back many memories since they stepped in the house. Ky had tried to focus on the enjoyable memories that had been made here. It worked for the most part, except for a few times when he was hit by emotion, but, for the most part, was able to suppress it.

The couple sat and listened to a song that they had heard many times, but enjoyed it all the same. The view was much different from last time, for it was not rainy, but extremely sunny. Not many clouds were in the sky, but the few wisps of white that were cast shadows among the valley-like back yard, giving it a different type of beauty than earlier.

Ky nuzzled up against his mate, saying, "It's really hard coming back here, but I must admit, this is both beautiful, and enjoyable."

"Yeah, I can't say I know how you feel, but I do understand... somewhat." said Tobias, hugging his boyfriend close to him, "I am glad you are enjoying it. It is so good to be with you and see you happy. Every time I saw you in the hospital, it hurt me badly."

"Yeah, I can understand why," responded the lupine, "but I am glad it was me and not you."

"I wasn't."

Ky pulled his head away from the husky's shoulder and looked into his familiar, sparkling eyes. He then proceeded to kiss him, a gesture he had far grown accustom to, though it had not lost its meaning. It was soon returned, but ended quickly, in fear of being caught.

They sat, listening to music and the sound of movers dropping boxes carelessly, as they watched the trees' shade move across the yard.

////

Saturday soon came, and Tobias led his mate, by the paw, to his van. The wolf was now able to walk pretty efficiently, which was very convenient for the canine and his surprise. The husky ignored the many questions from his inquisitive lupine as he drove. Ky recognized the road, but could not identify or place it with a location.

After about an hour of driving the wolf finally figured out their destination: "The beach!!"

Tobias laughed before saying, "Wow. What took you so long?"

"I don't know, but... THE BEACH!!" said Ky excitedly, "This is perfect."

"I thought so." laughed the husky."

They soon arrived at the same spot they had once gone to, backing down the beach, and opening the trunk of the van. After getting settled, they stripped to their boxers and got in the water. It was a bit cool, but not at all uncomfortable. They laughed as they swam, splashed, and wrestled each other, being careful of Ky's wounds. Their wrestling eventually turned into a game of trying to de-pants the other. They wrestled and struggled to both keep their own boxers on, and to get the other's off.

Tobias jumped and tackled his mate into the water and grabbed desperately at the cloth that covered the wolf. He soon got a grip on it and started yanking it down Ky's legs. The cloth came off, and the husky started to swim away from the lupine's grabbing paws. Just as he thought he escaped, two paws grabbed the waistband of his boxers and pulled them off in one motion. This greatly surprised Tobias, though he was secretly glad to get out of them.

As soon as the canine surfaced, he threw his lover's boxers onto the shore, and soon after, Ky did the same. Tobias gave his boyfriend a naughty smile before swimming towards him. The wolf immediately swam away, trying to escape the inevitable "wrath" that was about to befall upon him, but was stopped by a paw gripping his tail. Another paw joined the other one and pulled the lupine back. Ky turned around to see his captive, before smiling at his loving husky.

"Kay, you got me." said the lupine, grinning from ear to ear, "Now what are you going to do?"

"I think you know." Tobias replied, knowing his accusation was correct. The husky then leaned forward, grabbing his mate by the hips, pulled him in, and stole a kiss. He pulled back and smiled, looking into his mate's eyes, "You have nooo idea how much I love you."

"Hmm, that's an interesting theory," Ky said, giggling, "cause I am pretty sure I love you more."

"Don't get into this." laughed the canine, "We both know who loves who more."

"Yes, we do." said the lupine, gesturing to himself.

"But seriously," Tobias said, developing a somber look, "I love you. I love you more than anything."

A stern look also formed on the wolf's face as tears started to form in his eyes. No matter how many times he heard those words, they touched him deeply, "I love you Tobias. There's no need for me to say I'm completely, utterly serious, cause I know you know, but I really do love you... completely."

Tobias pulled his love against him and engaged in the memorable gesture that he thought best expressed his love for Ky. He felt his wolf's lips quiver slightly with anticipation as he pressed his against them. He sensed the slight suction pulling at his tongue as he felt the warm embrace of Ky's loving arms. The husky pressed his tongue into Ky's inviting maw, feeling eight fingertips press against his exposed back. Tobias felt cool air rush past his growing cock as it slowly pressed its way out of its sheath. The wolf lightly nibbled on the tongue that rhythmically pressed into his mouth before breaking the kiss and beginning a series of short, yet loving kisses. Tobias subconsciously counted them: 1-...2-3-...4-... 5-6-7-...8-, before engaging another long kiss.

The sun began to set, lacing the clouds in wisps of gold, orange, and purple. After the gesture of love was brought to an end, Tobias looked at the sunset, "Wow, it looks so much like the one we saw last time, but in such a different way."

"Yeah, it's... incredible." agreed the lupine as he grabbed his mates paw and squeezed it with his own.

The husky returned the squeeze with one of his own, smiling from the utter happiness that consumed him. Giggles escaped Tobias's mouth as he felt his lover's hardon brush against his own. He looked down at the two rods before grabbing them both of them in one paw and gently rubbing them up and down them.

Gasps leapt their way out of Ky's maw as his husky's paw ran up and down his smooth shaft. The canine slowly increased his speed as precum leaked out of the throbbing members, making Tobias's paw slide easier up and down the shafts. A pang of surprise hit the husky as his boyfriend kissed him yet again, for his eyes were closed, but he immediately returned the kiss, despite being caught off guard. He felt one of the paws that were rubbing and massaging his back trail down his back and rub against the base of his tail. He raised it, both wanting and anticipating some attention under it. Tobias then felt a finger ever so lightly brush against his sensitive hole, sending stabs of pleasure up his spine. He shivered as he started pumping faster on the two hardons in his paw.

Beads of pre developed at the tip of the pink rods, before dripping down the thick shafts. Waves of pleasure engulfed both of them as they both began lightly thrusting into the pumping paw. Tobias felt the soft, warm, and wet tongue of his mate press against his lips as he felt a finger lightly press at his opening. He opened his lips, giving access to his wolf, before the warm intruder started probing his maw. He lightly sucked on the warm muscle, flexing on his mate's finger with each wave of sensual delight that rushed from his throbbing cock.

The canine felt the familiar feeling in his stomach as a finger pressed against his prostate. His orgasm started pushing against the walls that withheld it as he moaned into the maw of his wolf. He soon felt the same vibrations emanate from his love's muzzle, making him kiss harder and pump faster. The walls that withheld the wave of pleasure broke as his balls and hole tightened. Tobias groaned deep in his throat as cum shot out of him between the two chests that were rubbing together. At the same time, the lupine too released his long-withheld load, mixing it with his mates as they rubbed against each other.

The sound of two furs gasping for air overlapped and blended with the sound of waves of water crashing onto the beach. Tobias seemed to share his afterglow with his mate as they slowly sank into the shallow water, washing the sticky substance out of their matted fur. After cleaning off, the couple crawled up the beach and settled down in the water, sitting on the stirring sand below the surface. Tingling sensations hit Tobias as waves crawled up his legs, pulling back before hitting his tight ballsack. He giggled at the interesting sensation before looking at the reflection of the sunset in his mate's grayish steel-blue eyes. The colors seemed to collide in the reflective orbs, creating a brilliant masterpiece of a painting. "Oh!" exclaimed Tobias as he stood up, "I have something for you!"

"More?" questioned the excited wolf, making sure to notice the canine's tight ass as he ran to the back of the open van, "Today has already been like the most awesome day ever!"

The husky ran back and slid next to his love holding a rectangular, flat object, wrapped in a blue and black towel. "Here." Tobias said, handing the wrapped object to his love.

Ky took the gift, unwrapping it carefully, and gasped, rubbing his hand across the glass that covered a small piece of paper with some writing on it surrounded by several beautiful drawings. Ky recognized the drawings of the places he and Tobias had made the most amazing of their memories. There was a drawing of the pool where they had their first kiss, there was a drawing of the beach they were at, there was one of Ky's back yard, and many more. Ky looked at every detailed drawing before reading the note in the middle. He instantly recognized it as the note he wrote to his mate after their first kiss in the city pool about his phone number and how they weren't numbers, but names. The biggest smile ever seen on a wolf was far beaten by the smile that became plastered on Ky's muzzle. "It's-... it's-"

"Read the back."

The wolf turned the frame over, exposing a note taped to the back. Tears gathered in his eyes as he read. A single tear dripped on the lines of script before he looked up from the frame and smiled at his only love. "You are no doubt the most amazing fur in the whole world. I love you sooo much Tobias. I love you with all my heart." Ky then leaned over and planted a huge kiss on his husky's smiling muzzle. The lupine broke the kiss and carefully laid his perfect gift face-down on the dry sand.

"I love you with all my heart too Akkia." responded Tobias before his love rolled onto him and kissed him lovingly. The couple made out in the water as waves crawled up and down their legs. The sun set, casting its last rays of light on the note taped to the back of the picture frame before disappearing behind the horizon.

~Ky,

This gift is for you my one and only love. I knew I would eagerly give you my heart completely ever since I read that note you gave me, so I hope to return the favor. I sincerely wish these drawings help you keep the memory of some of these amazing times you brought the love fully out of me, for I know they would for me. I know this gift only shows but a fraction of the love we share, but I do greatly hope that this will help you remember that, to me,

You are a name, not a number.

I love you with everything I have to love, and I always will.

-Tobias~
