Seleno Chapter 1: A New Start
The names Mike. This is my story.... I was hot, sweating like crazy... why was I so hot? My eyes darted open. My room was bathed in moonlight and my window was wide open, I sighed before sitting up. I yawned as I checked the clock beside my bed: 2:20 am. Great! I layed back down and tried to get some sleep but couldn't so I sat up again. I got out of my bed and moved slowly to the window. The light breeze quickly cooled me off, but I stayed there looking out onto the street. My gaze headed upwards where it came to rest on the moon, It was almost perfectly round, tomorrow (technically Today) it would be full... I wondered how I knew that...I moved to the other side of the room to my calender and sure enough I was right. On today's date was the little circular icon symbolizing the full moon. I began to ponder how I had known that... After a few moments I pushed it out of my mind. I pulled off the shirt and pants I had worn yesterday, leaving me standing in my boxers... I quickly crawled into bed and as I fell asleep I was certain that I had heard a wolf howl... Morning came to quickly. I woke up to the annoying buzzing of my clock... Was it louder then usual? I quickly turned it off and got up... I walked into the bathroom and rubbed the sleep from my eyes before running the shower, after it was the right temperature I slipped off my boxers and stepped in, instead of the usual feel of relaxation my entire back felt stiff and tense. After I was dressed I headed downstairs. My parents had already left for work, and it being a Monday meant that I had school... great... I was interrupted by a growling stomach. I walked into the kitchen to find my sister Celine eating some toast. "good morning" she said. "Good morning..." I replied as I began the search for food... I settled on some pepperoni sticks, not your everyday breakfast but I didn't care. I finished eating and packed a lunch before heading out the door. The bus arrived and me and my sister got on. I took a window seat at the back of the bus and relaxed, or at least tried to... "Hi!" yelled a familiar voice. "Hey Jake." I said turning to my friend. "Guess what!" Jake yelled again. I winced slightly, was it just me or did Jake seem louder than usual? "what?" I asked "I just got a Wii!" he replied "yeah...um that's cool..." "hey...Is something wrong with you?" Jake asked quietly, for a change. "It's nothing..." I said "oh really?! Then why are you acting so weird?" "I'm not!" "Yes you are!" Jake persisted "No I'm not!" I said loudly, The thing was that it didn't sound like me, it sounded more... animal-like. What caught my attention was Jake, who was staring at me wide eyed. "whats wrong with you?" I asked. He silently bent over and pulled a mirror from his backpack. Jake was a well known narcissist, and he wouldn't be caught dead without some sort of reflective object. I took the mirror and saw what Jake had seen, but only for a moment. My eyes normally a light grey were a startling yellow. I blinked and my eyes were back to normal. Weird...
When we got off the bus, a girl ran up too us, she like Jake had brown hair; mine was black. As her green eyes surveyed my face a slight shadow of a scowl appeared on her face before she said. "Mike are you all right. You don't look so good" "Terra, I'm fine. Why does everyone keep asking me that?" I stated. "okay but if you feel sick or anything like that you should go home..." she told me. Terra was someone who cared about everyone and was always known for her good advice, so good that she had been deemed the student councilor. I was lucky to have her as a friend. I can't count the times that her advice has saved me in the past. The bell rang and we hurried off to class me in one direction, Jake and Terra in the other... I sat down in English as the second bell rang.
"Today we are going to have a vocab quiz!" as the teacher said this I knew it was going to be a long day...
