Grand Duel Academy: Chapter 1
#2 of Grand Duel Academy
Hey, all! The first chapter of my new series, Grand Duel Academy! I got this idea from when I was getting back into the game, and decided to get back into writing with something a little fun! And unfortunately, not as sexy. (Don't worry, there will be a few extra chapters with that for you pervs ;P) Anyway, we follow my fursona, Rose, as he embarks on his journey to become the best duelist he can be. Be prepared for drama, action, and of course, dueling. Enjoy!
Rated adult for some bad language.
If you want to have a cameo, please feel free to check out the journal in the folder on the left!
The sun shines brightly on a new late December day in the busting city of Poketopia. The city is already rampant with energy, the citizens moving around going to work, shopping, and whatever else they want to do. Here in this city, all those who live here are Pokemorphs; combinations of pokemon and humans, having human-like bodies, while retaining key features of their species body, mostly for their heads and bodily coverings and coloration. But this city..no, this world, had another thing on its mind...Duel Monsters. The city's major selling point was its duelist population, nearly 3/4 of all inhabitants playing the game. And we move our attention to a small apartment complex in the city. More specifically, we find ourselves in apartment 428, where an alarm is buzzing. A brown arm comes from underneath the covers on a bed, reaching and hitting the table before hitting the snooze button. The covers shuffle before the one underneath it gets up, stretching out. It was a Lopunny male, and a shiny at that, the pink ear, wrist, and leg fluff a bit of a mess.
L. Male: Uuuugh...what time is it....
He looks to the clock, seeing it was 9:47.
L. Male; Oh, 9:47....9:47?! Crap, I'm sooo late!
He jumped out of bed, going to his closet and grabbing some clothes. He got on his usual outfit, a pink t-shirt and a black vest, zipping it halfway up before getting on some black jeans. He gets his belt on, slipping his deck holster on as he puts it on. He grabs his deck from his nightstand, sliding it in as he grabs his bag by the door, running into the kitchen. After chugging down some OJ and grabbing a couple of Pop Tarts, he runs out the door...before realizing he forgot one last thing. He runs back in, going back to his room and grabbing his Duel Disk. He didn't have much cash to get a new one, but he had fixed up and had a well-maintained KC Mass Production Duel Disk, just like the one the original King of Games used. He smiles, putting it on his arm, smiling as it was folded back and ready to go. He smiled, adjusting his bag before running out, biting into a pop tart. He runs down the street, smiling big as his bag tag glimmered, a tag reading Rose Lapine.
Rose: Heh, it's finally the day! I just hope I can make it!
Rose was an aspiring young duelist, coming up the ranks at the local tournaments. But he wanted to prove he was something bigger, as he ran through the streets, jumping robot cleaners and weaving his way through the masses gracefully. Today was the entrance exam day to the local duel academy, the Grand Duel Academy. He saw the huge building in the distance, smiling as he put on the extra gas to get there. He ran up the steps, bounding his way up. At the main entrance were two student volunteers, a Floatzel and a Weavile.
Floatzel: Almost 10:00. Let's close the gates. Weavile: Finally, an hour of sitting here, over.
They went to go and close the gates, but just before they closed shut, a familiar voice yelled from the stairs.
Rose: Hey! Hold on a second!
He bounded his way up the last 20 steps in four hops, doing a big jump on the last one, jumping over the gate. He landed on his feet, smirking.
Rose; Heh, 9:59. Just in time.
The two were astonished, then sighed as they finished closing the gate, giving Rose his name tag and entrant number. He smiled, going into the massive building. He followed the signs through the halls, before entering a huge gymnasium. But the floor had been changed to have several duel fields, and there were entrance duels going on all over the place. Rose was astounded, his eyes glistening in amazement as he took a seat, waiting for his turn. Meanwhile, at the proctor's station, there were several teachers, watching and grading the duels as they went. However there was one there, sitting with his arms crossed, not in the slightest amused. He was a massive Tyrantrum, looking at all the participants. His gold blazer shimmered, as he sighed.
Tyrantrum: This is just plain sad. Not a single student can ever make it into my dorm. Thank goodness this gong show is nearly over. F Zangoose: Sir, we just received word. We have one more student for testing, but all of our proctors are busy with these last few students.
He scoffed, standing up.
Tyrantrum: Very well, I'll test him myself. F Zangoose: Very well, Professor.
He glared at her, as she flinched.
Tyrantrum; I'll have you know, I have a PhD in Duel Monsters, I deserve the title of Doctor Growler. F Zangoose: Y-Yes, Dr. Growler. Which test deck will you- Growler: I'll use my own personal deck. F Zangoose: B-But sir! The test needs to be at the same level as- Grolwer: SILENCE! If he can best me, then he can get in. We shall see what this bunny boy can do.
Soon enough, Rose's number was called. He smiled, hopping down to the duel arena. He was amazed, smiling as he had his D-Gazer on already. Dr. Growler stepped in, wearing a duel vest, as no disk was big enough for his enormous frame.
Rose: Whoa, sweet duel vest! And where can I get one of those awesome gold blazers? Growler: Heh, we shall see. Let's go! Rose & Growler: D-Gazer, set!
The augmented reality field for the three of them turned on, as a few other students decided to tune their gazers on their duel. There were three of them. There was a Gallade male, wearing a purple blazer, an Alakazam female, wearing a deep navy blue blazer, and a Dragonair female, wearing a gold blazer.
Gallade: Heh, looks like that little bunny bitch is going to have her ass handed to her. Alakazam: Uh, Hudson? I think that girl is a guy. Hudson: My eyes don't trick me, Allie, that slutbunny's totally a chick, just flat. Allie: Whatever, but don't come crying to me when you see a surprise in his pants. Dragonair: Will you both just be quiet? This looks like it's just about to get started. Hudson: Heh, you're right, Nina. This is gonna be fun to watch.
The two duelists stared each other down, drawing their starting hand.
Growler: As per the entrance exam rules, you may have the first move. Rose; Heh, sweet! Here goes, let's duel!
He drew his first card, smiling.
Rose: Let's start off simple. I set one monster face down in defense mode!
He sets the card in his duel disk, and it materializes on the duel field.
Rose: I'll also set two cards face down, and that'll end my turn.
The two cards appear behind the face down monster, and the turn passes to Growler.
Growler; Heh, pathetic starting move. I'll get this duel way faster than anticipated. I activate Polymerization! I send all five cards in my hand to the graveyard!
He sends the five to the graveyard....all dragons.
Growler: I summon...FIVE-HEADED DRAGON! Hudson: She's fucked. Allie: He.
The area above the stadium grew dark with swirling ominous clouds. As it did, the area became dark. Then five dragons of elements came around. Fire, water, earth, wind, and dark, as they combined, the massive dragon coming down. Rose gasps, in pure shock.
Growler; Heh, frozen with fear? Rose: ...are you kidding me?! This is the coolest thing ever! I've never seen Five-Headed Dragon summoned before! Grolwer: *scoff* Whatever. Five-Headed Dragon, attack!
The five heads attacked all at once, destroying the monster. It was a weird blue creature, the monster shattering.
Rose: Thanks, teach! You just destroyed my Ojama Blue! Growler: Ojamas? What are you, four? Rose: Sixteen. Anyway, I activate it's effect, allowing me to add two cards with Ojama in their name to my hand. I add Ojamagic and another Ojama Blue! Growler: I end my turn.
Rose smiles, drawing his card.
Rose: I'll just set a monster, and end my turn. Growler; My turn now. Five-Headed Dragon, attack!
The monster is destroyed, obviously Ojama Blue.
Rose; I think I'll add Ojama Country and my third Ojama Blue.
The next turn repeats itself, and Rose adds in two cards, Ojama Green and Ojamuscle.
Growler: You pretty much lose already. You can't even destroy my monster by five out of six monster types. I set one card face-down and end my turn. Rose: You'll see. Let's go!
He draws, smirking.
Rose: Let's get this party started boys! First thing to do is activate Mystical Space Typhoon! Take out the facedown!
The wind whips up as the facedown is shattered, Negate Attack.
Growler: No matter, it doesn't even matter. Rose: Heh, you'll see. Next, I activate my facedown Magical Stone Excavation! By discarding two cards, I can add a spell card from my graveyard to my hand. I discard Ojamagic and Ojama Green to add Mystical Space Typhoon to my hand again. Now Ojamagic's effect activates, allowing me to add the Ojama brothers to my hand!
The deck spits out three cards: Ojama Black, Yellow, and Green. Rose adds them to his hand chuckling.
Rose: It's all over. Growler: How, it's impossible! Rose: Nothing is impossible, allow me to show you! I activate Polymerization! I send the bros to the graveyard, and summon Ojama King!
The three bros combine, as the giant white boss stands over Rose...in attack mode.
Growler: What a horrible misplay! He has zero attack! Rose; Oh, I'm not done. But before I finish you off, I use Ojama King's effect, blocking three of your monster zones.
Ojama King summons Ojama statues of the three used to summon him, blocking three of the zones.
Rose: Now, I activate Tri-Wight! I can special summon three level two or lower normal monsters from my graveyard to the field. Come on back, boys!
Ojama Black, Green, and Yellow come back to the field. Rose smirks, holding a card.
Rose: Say goodbye to your big toy! I activate my spell card, OJAMA DELTA HURRICANE! Growler: WHAT?! Impossible!
The three bros connect by butts, spinning faster and faster as the Five-Headed Dragon is sucked in, shattering as it's destroyed.
Growler: N-No matter, you can't take me down with monsters with zero attack! Rose: Oh, I'm not done yet. I now activate my facedown Fusion Recovery, adding Polymerization and Ojama Green to my hand. Then I reactivate Polymerization, sending two Ojama Greens to the graveyard and summon Ojama Knight!
The two combine, becoming the armor-clad knight.
Rose: I then use his effect, blocking two zones.
The knight summons statues of the two used, and now all five zones were blocked.
Rose; Time for the finale. I activate, Ojama Country!
The entire area changes into a huge jungle village, Ojamas all over the place.
Growler: N-No, noooo! Rose: Oh, yes! Ojama Country swaps the attack and defense values of all monsters on the field. That means that all my Ojamas are now massive powerhouses!
All of the Ojamas become incredibly strong, flexing a bit for effect.
Rose: Alright, big boys, finish it off!
The five of them all charge, attacking directly as Growler roars, getting blown back as he goes from 8000 to 0 in one turn. Rose smiles, jumping.
Rose; Alright! I did it! Grolwer; T-That was...a lucky...break... Rose; Oh whatever. Thanks for the duel, teach!
The three in the stands were amazed, not having seen something like that in a long time.
Hudson: I am sooo banging her later. Allie: Him. Hudson: SHUT UP!
Rose smiles, as the virtual area fixes itself, going back to the stands.
Rose: This is going to be a fun year.
