Chapter 20
#20 of Started with a Rock: Arc 2 - The Reunion
"Suppose I got hasty. I'm out of practice, thank you very much Serena." Tensa said, and then he let himself purposely get hit by the Air Slash, which of course, caused him to rather groan in pain and grit his teeth. Afterward, he just laid down on the ground, not really wanting to continue much. "Many smaller Rocks would also have been faster too," Tensa commented.
She didn't move from her spot, but she did sit down. "Done then?" She still had the air aura coating her body, and until he gave her a straight answer, she wasn't going to dismiss it.
Tensa sighed happily and said a dreamy, "Oh yes... Thank you Serena." After which he placed his hands behind his head, started reminiscing. "That reminded me of my Elite Four days... and the fact that I'm out of practice, which I'm also partially blaming on Kyn."
She dropped the air aura and picked up a psychic type, walking over to him. "Right then, hold still." She touched her nose to his stomach, and let the heal pulse reverberate for the equivalent of two turns, healing both him, and herself to full, and also repairing any damage to her hide. <So Kyn...that wasn't my full 'move set' as you would say.> "Of course....we now have to teach you a move to use against me...how quaint that I'm giving you my own means of destruction..."
"Not that much different than me having to educate a Fire-type when I was younger." Tensa commented idly, enjoying the feeling of the Heal Pulse. He guessed that this is why Audino were used in the Pokémon Centers as assistants in Isshu, since they seemed to be trained to be rather proficient in it.
<Serena, I know I've introduced you to so many people recently, but would you please... be willing to tolerate a few more? I might as well just make a list someday, and we can go at your own pace... provided they don't all keel over and die within the next few weeks. So then, we're searching for Mago right? Thanks for healing Tensa, of course. I don't know if I should say that but, I'm saying it anyway, alright?>
<Kyn...it's four in the morning. Yes we're looking for Mago, if anyone's seen her it will be Donahue... and if we find that she's gone to steel city already, then we're making a stop up north in our version of Charge stone cave. You do remember that, yes?> She pushed him back out to where they weren't sharing all the same senses, just thoughts and emotions. <Yeah, sure, doesn't need to be said, but mmph.> She pulled her nose away from Tensa, and then created a dragon pulse in front of her lips, and transferred it to her claws. "Okay Tensa...how much do you know about the connection between reptiles and dragons?"
"Just that they go way back... to the point in which I believe the two were indistinguishable in the sense of... uh... how to describe it... dunno, but anyway, that thing I said earlier."
"Right...all reptiles came from dragons, which is why you and I are still compatible. The dragon energy still lies in your blood, sleeping. Dragon Pulse is essentially the equivalent of Energy ball, but with Dragon energy." She set down the pulse on the ground, then switched and brought up an energy ball as well, setting that down beside the other. "You can see how close they are in color, grass energy and dragon energy, which is strange, because there's no grass dragons--I digress." She popped the energy ball into her mouth and reabsorbed the energy, but left the dragon pulse out. "Some have said that Dragon energy was the source of all the other energies, and that's why most of the legendaries have dragon in their typing."
"Hm, interesting theory... I suppose that'd be like how Mew has the DNA of all Pokémon... maybe it's first typing was Dragon before it chose Psychic." Tensa pondered.
"Here there was a myth that there was not one, but 16 Mew, One for each type, that changed into each Pokemon type in existence. Now then...Dragon pulse, being dragon energy, is- as you've no doubt noticed...focused in front of the mouth, and released with a snap of the jaws."
"Serena... what would happen if the two energies were combined...? You've got me thinking about that now."
"....Damn my curiosity...I have a feeling this is going to backfire...but we can TRY the synchronization required for such a feat, if you would like to."
"Let us try then, Serena." Tensa said, sitting up.
"I'd be the first in line to want to meet a Grass Dragon, Serena." Kyn said solemnly.
"Yeah, well be the first in line -behind us- Dragon energy is volatile enough without having another type mixed in with it, it even hurts dragons if handled improperly..." She tossed Tensa ideas, she was not the move combiner here, but she knew that energies that could be condensed as a core had more stability to them, and she was SURE that they both had enough experience to do it that way, rather than trying two orbs of the same size which would be completely unstable.
"Alright Serena, my first idea is.... for you to start charging a pulse...and then try and take the orb. Then I'll put the other energy into it if I can." Tensa figured.
Kyn chuckled at the fact that they were all eager to see a Grass-Dragon type.
"..." She looked at him skeptically, but craned her neck so that she almost had her nose in her hands, and between her fangs and her claw tips, she formed half of the orb, purposely leaving it hollow, and then the rest of the way, pulling her nose away and extending the claws outward carefully. This was his idea, it was very slapped together, nothing analytical...and honestly in her point of view, it was bound to fail.
Tensa moved his claws over the Dragon Pulse, and attempted to take it from Serena by using a sort of 'energy basket' of his own.
She let him take it from her, that volatile energy, that which was essentially a time bomb waiting to go off...she watched it carefully as he filled it with energy, and then...it stabilized, and she let out the breath she didn't even realize she had been holding.
"What an... interesting color... perhaps this is what the original Dragon Energy looked like before it split." Tensa commented, and Kyn had been thinking along the same lines but it didn't really make sense for him to say the same thing twice.
"Mmm...perhaps, we can only theorize. Some think that it was every color of the rainbow, others believe that it was clear as the air we breathe. I should probably tell you that there's a set time on a dragon pulse before it explodes if it's not manually detonated...so I would toss it at the rocks behind us, or straight up...Dragon pulses' that go straight up create a ring from their center that dissipate into sparkles after a set radius, for the record."
"Sounds like a rather interesting use for a contest, in that case." Tensa did stand up fully, and then, using all of his strength tossed the combined Ball into the air.
Serena watched the ball go up, and then yes, detonated it at it's peak. three rings like waves came off of it, with a slightly viney texture, showing that it wasn't completely a dragon pulse, and the sparkles looked a bit more like flowers. "Huh...well isn't that interesting." She looked at Kyn. <Nightshade+ Draco Meteor+ many small Dragon Pulse+ Blue flare...I could recreate the spacial solar system.>
<Serena! I will request that you not use the move Blue Flare ever. Please, keep that a signature move of Reshiram. So then... Mago-quest. Also... which solar system? Ours or the other one that's nearby?>
"Ah... pretty. Definitely putting you in a contest, Serena," Tensa said out loud.
"That's what we said when I was a Bagon, my answer remains the same--Don't tease the dragon." <Mmm~ as you wish, I suppose that we'd have to settle for the night sky, and the eventual fireworks that would come with it...and, the Moxie glow too, if I had a reaper cloth and painted myself black for the most part...Ah, right...Mago...we should probably see if Ma's up I suppose...then head into town.>
"Then don't let him forget. Make him take you straight to Hearthome City. Besides, you'll get to see Heji's hatching place." Tensa added, figuring that throwing Heji into the mix would be a bit more of a motivator as well.
<Hm, yeah.> "Ah... heh. I should have done it the last time we were in my world. Tell you what guys... I think I'll put in in my Xtransciever calendar."
<What are you going to do when we find her exactly?> "You sound like you wont be around to remind him, I was only taking over the position while you were hibernating." She looked towards the house that was a little more than a dot on the horizon for _her_eyes, she could imagine that for them it would be a little less than a speck to their vision. "So, care to try replicating the Dragon pulse? I'm sure that you could use mimic to get used to it if nothing else."
<First, try to see if she's pissed at me or not. Then explain the situation to her... leaving out the forbidden details, and continuing as best as I can from there. Though considering... she may have had PK's temper... I'll probably have to have at least three Pokémon out, plus you.>
"Hm, well it's not like that, just that you have a better memory than both of us, I believe. I'll try it a bit later." Tensa added, thinking about how long she would have lived, and the fact that even after such a long time away, she still remembered his scent, and looks.
"Hm, my first true meeting with Mago will have her being older than when I first met Anana," Kyn mused.
Serena forced herself up to her feet. "Right..." She'd brushed against Tensa's mind there. "Lets go see If ma's home then...and then we'll head into town to find Mago...lets walk, shall we?" She walked a bit of the way towards the house, then started upon the topic that Heji had brought up with her outside. "You're train of thought brought something back to the forefront of my mind, Tensa...it was actually...well, something that I delved into with Heji...about...well...we could live forever, if we were so inclined."
"Living forever... can have quite an effect on beings such as us Serena. Are you certain you wish to do something like that? Even one with a lifespan as long as yours... to extend that to reach out several thousand or more... I'm assuming that by live forever you mean not aging, correct? Surely you haven't found a way to make yourself TRULY immortal." Tensa said, pondering the thought himself. The thought of Kyn and he never separating would be interesting but... then he thought of how they'd go about experiencing society at the same time. Kyn would definitely be interested in the technological advancements. Some of which he'd help to create. Then of course the the way things would be AFTER such technologies were implemented. His thoughts were racing, some excitement, others, confusion. Overall the thought of living forever would take a change in mindset. Though, Kyn and he already had a drastically different view of time anyway.
"I'm not meaning not aging." She tossed back at him, surely that would throw him through a loop if nothing else. "I've learned that when using Miru's distortion...that even in my younger forms, I keep my same mental status, and older I keep that same mental status...essentially it would be as easy as hitting restart on our life cycles at different periods of time...a long trip of a disappearance, a supposed female, a supposed tragic event that ends Kyn's life and his 'son' takes his place...An episode of you running off on your own Tensa, and coming back with a Treecko egg...making a meal of the egg and you coming back as a Treecko that 'hatched' from it..."
"...Yeesh. Well Serena, there is another part of this that makes it a bit easier for me to disappear. Since obviously my mother is my mother... she could help with the whole family aspect, by being a sister or a daughter. Dear.... this reminds me of that one conversation we'd had." Kyn said, starting to give his imput on the situation.
"It should..." She mused to herself. Neither of their responses were no's. She was sort of pleased with the idea, and of course, she gave Heji a mental lick and echoed that feeling to him. It was perhaps about 15 minutes later that they arrived at the house, and she sniffed, tilting her head.
"Huh...something's...off."
