Chapter 11 - Blood Lust Part 2
#11 of Chains of Destiny
Chapter 11 - Blood Lust Part 2
During the two days before the final battle, everyone was underway and accomplishing as much as possible within the amount of time that is restricted to them. Fiona and Alan had no problem getting the information they needed on the Country of Star because everyone trusted their story and sympathized with them. Brian and Collins had a slight problem of getting in contact with the ancients but that was quickly resolved with the use of the newly trained scouts. Leo didn't have any problems getting a revolution spark active in the Country of Goliath as he left the country and moved towards the front lines where the final bout will begin.
It is now the day of the final battle as the two countries made their defenses during the night of the previous day. Leo stood within the forest that is flowing with magic all around him giving the hint that the magic originates from the forest and scatters all over the world. Bahamut and Shiva were standing beside Leo as they waited for the battle to commence. Brian and Collins stood in the front lines of the Country of Goliath and so did Fiona and Alan in the side of the Country of Star. The plan is to lead the front lines then slip away to the forest where Leo is waiting for them.
As dawn approached, the soldiers of both sides became nervous because this is their first battle that involves magic and the newly developed weapons even though both sides still used the same weapons from the last battle. Once the sky streaked with light, both sides let out a war cry and charged at one another, holding swords and spears imbued with magic. The clash had a powerful force as both magical energies collided with one another. Fiona, Alan, Brian, and Collins quickly slipped away with ease and wasn't noticed to be missing.
"Every thing is going perfectly," said Leo as the four made their way into the forest.
"So, what now? We did what we are supposed to," said Collins breathless.
Leo stood tall as the other ancients appeared beside Bahamut and Shiva. "We are the third party but we need to wait till midday for our forces to arrive. You'd be amazed what a small revolution can do to a country," said Leo as everyone watched the deaths of multiple people.
The morning consisted of nothing but the magic imbued weapons and it drove hard into the afternoon as both sides has large casualties. By midday, small groups of people began to appear in the forest from both sides. The groups consisted of anyone who wanted the war over ranging from the young to the old, children to adults, men and women, and beast men and humans. Fiona, Alan, Collins, and Brian were amazed at how large their group became as more and more people arrived. Dusk is soon approaching by the time the groups of people joining the crowd stopped.
"I'm glad you came," said Leo erecting himself and turning around to face the revolutionary army.
The army is dressed in many assortments but everyone had some type of weapon that they know how to use well. The disadvantage with this group is that they don't have any experience in war but the advantage is the will that everyone has inside of them.
"From this point forward, there will be a change. We will be breaking off into five groups. One large group for the five of us," said Leo pointing to the others other than himself.
The group understood and began to divide and mingled with one another as they evenly distributed themselves amongst to the five. Brian, Fiona, Alan, and Collins were surprised at the order that was given by Leo. They had no military experience when it came to commanding a force but if Leo decided that they are able to, then they must be able to.
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" asked Bahamut.
"Yes, this way, we can scatter the troops more effectively and take the battle by surprise," said Leo looking at the sky.
"It is not for us to judge his actions. It is up to us to aid him in anyway," said Alexander.
"Twilight is upon us," murmured Leo turning his attention back to the people. "At twilight, we will charge. It is understood that this will be the hardest battle in your lives. We don't have the mechanical support but we must try and we must live strong even though most of us will not return to our families."
"No, we do have mechanical support. It is in the most unexpected way that anyone can believe," said Collins firmly looking into the eyes of the army.
"How long do you suspect this is last?" asked Bahamut.
"I don't know. It depends what the future wants to bring to us," replied Leo bringing forth the Obsidian Butterfly.
Leo's clothes resonated with the butterfly as a soft light emitted from the butterfly. The sky quickly turned to twilight and the light grew stronger. Everyone charged past him as his attention is locked with the light and the rapid changing colors of the sky as the three moons appeared in the sky. The ancients took off with the charge and the screams and shocks of both sides could be heard in the background. Still, Leo concentrated on the Obsidian Butterfly as the earth opened in front of him. Still the world grew silent around him as the ground raised up a stone slab. So still was his breathing as runic characters appeared on the stone slab as a stone pedestal rose.
"What's going on," thought Leo as the butterfly began to flap its wings and flutter into the air only to land on the pedestal.
Three lights descended from the sky but landed on the stone slab as three orbs of light surrounded the butterfly. The three orbs were gold, silver, and bronze and they aligned themselves before the butterfly. The three lights that was directed on the stone slab, concentrated on the Obsidian Butterfly and caused a chain reaction that could tip the out come of the war into the Revolutionary Army's favor.
"Scouts! Scatter!" shouted Collins as he ran out into the field.
"Symphony Sonar," said Alan jumping into the air. The air vibrated with sound as the Revolutionary Army surged its way into the battle. The air distracted many soldiers and caused them to drop their weapons onto the ground.
"Bamboo Spear," shouted Brian as his spell circle appeared before him and materialized bamboo spears. The spears are long and green with a sharp end no less. These spears launched into the clash and slaughtered many soldiers from both sides.
"Happy Trigger!" shouted Fiona diving into a group of soldiers with her guns drawn.
The three armies clashed heavily but the surprise attack gave the Revolutionary Army an advantage. Soldiers from both sides began to fight the new enemy as they armed themselves with mechanical support. Goliaths stormed the front lines as well as Star Ships from the Country of Star.
"Shit," said Collins as the mech support began to fire.
Screams pierced the air and many soldiers killed in the cross fire. Some Star Ships fell from the sky and crushed some of the Goliaths but the assault pursued none the less. This became hopeless for the Revolutionary Army until they realized that no one on their side were falling to the mechs. Instead, the attacks were being deflected in mid air. A black blur streamed in the air as it punctured through one of the Goliaths causing it to explode. Another black blur flew into the sky and exploded a Star Ship before moving to another ship.
"What's going on?" asked some as they stopped to examine was is happening around them.
Explosions usually send scrap metal flying in all directions but when ever such pieces fly towards the Revolutionary Army, it gets deflected by an invisible force. Fiona, Alan, Brian, and Collins didn't get distracted by the aid they slowly made their way through the war. A Goliath landed near them and it took aim at them. As it prepared to fire the surprised group, a black blur shot through the mech and caused another explosion sending them flying.
Collins didn't fly far but landed on the ground hard on his back. Fiona and Alan quickly recovered before they hit the ground and rebounded onto the feet. Brian was no where to be seen but he was soon discovered at Alan's feet.
"If this keeps up, there will be too many deaths and there won't be any signs of either side," said Collins as the ground shock with another Goliath explosion.
"Do you think we have a chance against what's going on?" asked Brian getting up.
"We have to try something until our support gets here," replied Collins looking around at the various deaths and explosions.
"Where's Leo when you need him?" murmured Fiona inaudible to the others as they charged back into the battle.
It could be said at this point that the Revolutionary Army is a hopeless cause because they are barely making a dent for change. Both sides were just intent to killing each other but the battle soon quieted as what ever was causing the explosions made a large center divide. A group of 12 men stood across from each other, 6 on each side. They wore different clothing and wielded different weapons that they are very familiar with. One side wore dark blue clothing and wore masks to hide their faces that are black. This group held a harp, spear, sword, whip, scimitar, and knuckles. The other group wore dark green clothing and black masks. This group held a bow and arrow, kunai and chain, katana, lance, bell, and daggers.
"This will be a very dangerous battle indeed," murmured Collins as he hesitated at the Revolutionary end of the divide.
The others stopped behind him as the two groups stood still. The wind allowed a slight breeze to pass through them. Each warrior held their weapon relaxed as two people appeared mysteriously, one human and the other beast man. They both wore black but no masks which depicted which color belonged to which group. The human wielded a ball and chain as her weapon while the beast man wielded a large sword.
"This ends here, right?" asked the beast man.
"Indeed it does, Valice," responded the human.
"Collins, who are they?" whispered Fiona.
"Those people are the elite of both countries. The ones in blue belong to the Country of Star with the leader Valentine. The ones in green belong to the Country of Goliath with the leader Valice," replied Collins.
"Let's dance," said Valice as his group dashed towards the enemy.
"Let's," said Valentine as her group charged.
Both sides clashed and the war resumed but around the fighting of the elite. Collins and Fiona broke away to one side as Alan and Brian broke off towards the other to aid in the defense against the two countries. The elite are truly elite because their movements are flawless as they made assaults at one another. Each movement didn't seem like a dance but their movements were swift. The Goliaths and Star Ships resumed their attack and the battle is in more chaos than when the Revolutionary Army joined.
Brian and Alan fought relentlessly as the Country of Goliath pushed harder than earlier causing them to make careless mistakes. Fiona and Collins were facing the same dilemma and the Revolutionary Army began to falter as a result.
"We're not going to win!" shouted Alan as he missed a sword slice by a hair.
"Even if we're not, we must keep trying!" shouting Brian sending an assault of kunai into the enemy.
"Where is our support?" questioned Alan silently.
The Country of Star brought a new weapon known as the Elec-Wave. It is a large portable structure that didn't rise any higher than a city wall but it had a levitating orb. Electric currents transferred from the structure to the orb as it lets out electric waves, shocking anyone who isn't human. The beast man new of this invention and designed a tower that is just an electric rod that attracts all electric waves. This kept the results of this battle as a draw.
Fiona and Collins were growing tired as they parried the attacks and disarming their enemy before knocking them unconscious.
"How long does it take for one person to appear?" asked Collins as he stood back to back with Fiona.
"I don't know but if Leo doesn't get out here soon, he'll pay if we die," responded Fiona.
"How can you say something like that? That's harsh, we're not going to die," said Collins.
"Well, if don't die then the army will," panted Fiona as she dove back into the battle.
Before Collins did anything further, the air became cold, an unusual cold. The ground began to freeze but only Collins noticed this. It wasn't until large masses of ice appeared in the middle of the foot soldiers did people start to scream in horror.
"The relentless ice that surrounds us all. Ice Spire," said Shiva flying across the sky.
Underneath the Goliaths, the ground grew red hot and cracked at the heat.
"The burning passion that runs through the ground. Eruption," said Ifrit following Shiva.
The wind became a tornado that emerged from the forest and moved its way through the armies as beams of light shot out from it, injuring anyone who gets touched by the light.
"The wind that we breathe comes alive with shining glory. Air Refraction," said Silva and Alexander following Ifrit.
Dark slashes fell from the sky and collided with the ground causing dust to rise.
"The darkness that lives in the hearts of mankind," said Canterus and Bahamut as they followed Silva and Alexander.
Each attack dropped the soldiers of all three sides dramatically by causing many casualties. Each side pulled back anyone who was injured by the attack while commencing with the attack on each other. The elite didn't seem to be affect by the sudden attack from the sky but the attack did distract them from the attack on one another.
"I need their powers," said Valice as he threw a capsule into the sky at Bahamut.
Canterus acted swiftly and deflected the capsule using his great sword. Bahamut rose into the air before diving towards the ground.
"Meteor Smash!" shouted Bahamut as he slammed into the ground.
The earth shook and unbalanced everyone except the Star Ships which ceased their assault. An odd thing to do in the middle of a battle. Although no one was killed the attack, Valice received a cut on his cheek which enraged him.
"Seems like the great Valice isn't so great after all," laughed Valentine as she saw Valice's anger rising.
"Shut up Valentine," snapped Valice as he brought his attention back to Bahamut. "Nightmare Claw."
Valice sliced the air many times as Bahamut constantly weaved through each attack without any effort while ascending into the sky, waiting for the others to return for a second assault. Only Silva returned with a back up attack.
"Silver Rain," whispered Silva as silver globes appeared in the sky temporarily before falling down upon the elites.
Because Valice was too concentrated on Bahamut, he failed to see the Silver Rain before it was too late. The silver globes smashed into the ground and distorted the landscape as the elites dodged the attack. Valice emerged with a gash on his arm which enraged him even more. A small distraction was all Bahamut needed to soar away with Silva.
"Don't you dare run away! Binding Chains!" shouted Valice as invisible chains constricted both Bahamut and Silva bringing them to the ground.
Soldiers from both countries attacked the two ancients as they were helpless with the constriction. Valice quickly made it to the crash site and smiled widely.
"Your powers are mine," chucked Valice as Silva watched in fear and Bahamut in anger.
Shiva, Alexander, Ifrit, and Canterus appeared above and Valice using Binding Chains to bring them down as well. By this time Valentine appeared behind Valice and began a spell. Valice was quick to notice Valentine and quickly shut her up using his silence capsule. The elites under Valentine's command didn't know what to do as they watched Valice perform an incantation that they couldn't here.
"All of your powers are mine," chucked Valice once again looking at his catch. "Past rejections be gone. Sirune Draw."
Sirune Draw is an ancient spell designed to absorb the ancients energy into the casters body making the caster almost godly because of the increase in power.
Valice drew the powers of the ancients as they screamed in agony. The pain felt like thousands on thousands of daggers piercing the soul and drawing a piece of the soul away with it. It didn't last long but the ancients were weak and couldn't do anything left after the spell was over. Valice didn't look any different be he can feel the energy of the ancients coursing through his body. He only pointed at one of the Star Ships and it immediately exploded without any effort. Everyone feared his power as he became a brand new force, a force that can become a one man army.
"I did it, I have become a God!" shouted Valice floating into the air.
"Valice! You've gone insane!" shouted Valentine as one of the beast man elite soldiers removed the capsule spell.
"Silence ,Valentine! You can't do anything to me now! Now I will become the new ruler," shouted Valice unleashing a series of elemental strikes on the ground.
Everyone on the ground stared up in fear and didn't know what to do. All that could be done was just to look at the inevitable future that could never be achieved. The future that they saw was nothing but destruction as Valice continued to laugh maniacally.
"I'm going to stop you!" shouted Valentine but Valice exploded the ground beneath her.
"Bamboo Spear!" shouted Brian but Valice sent a heat wave at Brian, scorching his fur as he flew.
Collins intercepted him as Alan and Fiona stepped in with their attack. "Symphony Mania!" shouted both Alan and Fiona but Valice countered that as well with a torrent of water that appeared underneath them.
Goliaths and Star Ships attacked Valice as well but he only just sent dark rays through each mech and destroyed them without any mercy. Everyone had lost all hope at this point as they watched the death of everyone. This is basically an entirely new battle that they must face but there wasn't any hope in winning this kind of battle.
"We're not going to win," said some one from the Revolutionary Army.
The elite soldiers tried to make a united attack but Valice only constricted their bodies and threw them aside like a doll.
"Bow down to me and I'll spare everyone!" shouted Valice.
Everyone but Collins, Fiona, Alan, Brian, and Valentine bowed down to Valice. He eyed the five before sending another assault at them that could have been lethal if intended. This assault turned out to be the silver wind that Silva used earlier. Valentine was able to break the attack but couldn't stop a second wave from approaching afterwards.
"Ah!" shouted Valentine as she few into the air.
"You will learn to respect me!" shouted Valice as he brought her down using the wind.
Collins ran forward and caught Valentine before she hit the ground. Fiona drew out one of her large guns and pointed it towards Valice.
"Die, you son of bitch!" shouted Fiona pulling the trigger but the large gun was empty.
"Is that the best you can do?" laughed Valice as he raised his arm before bringing back down in an arc.
An invisible slash streaked across the sky as water poured from the air. A steady rain turned into a torrent that slammed down onto Fiona. Brian lashed out with his fangs and broke through the torrent saving Fiona from being crushed by the pressure.
"Damn it!" shouted Brian turning his attention towards Valice.
"You are all weak," stated Valice as the dead bodies on the battle field came to life.
"Necromancy!" shouted Valentine as Collins placed her on the ground.
The ancients lay in a heap under the net unable to do anything. The power that made them ancients were stripped from their bodies and now fear seeped into their hearts. They had no energy to get up or do anything except watch as the bodies came to life. The dead bodies rose and shocked everyone as they watched in horror as the struggle that they placed up is going to be smoldered.
"Get those that defy my rule!" shouted Valice pointing to the group.
"Shit! How are we supposed to kill those things?" exclaimed Alan as a large circle of undead surrounded them.
"There's nothing we can do but submit to his rule. No one has been able to defeat any of Valice's necromancy," said Valentine as she bowed down.
Reluctantly, the others soon bowed down to Valice's superiority as he laughed away at his new found abilities. The leaders of both nations saw from the capitols at the new monster that has been born on the battle field. It is one of those things were hope is no longer an option but a lost cause. Both leaders announced all throughout their land that there is a new ruler and that under that rule, there is no hope for resistance or settle peace but an age of fear and dictatorship.
"Now that the whole world is under my control, there is no one left to stop me because I am God!" laughed Valice as the sky became dark with clouds.
"Indignation!" shouted a voice.
Streams of electricity showered down from the sky and narrowly missed Valice who became aware of the surprise attack. Valice became infuriated at the sudden attack and looked towards the forest as a bright light shined through the tree tops. Out emerged Leo in the air holding what appeared to be a sword.
"Who dares go against my rule?!" snapped Valice looking at Leo with heavy rage.
Leo looked into the battle field and saw the helpless ancients, the dead resistance and resilience of those that bowed, the large circle of the undead, and most importantly, the lost hope that he saw within not only his friends, but those around him. In his mind he could smell and taste the blood that is splattered across the cold ground. It smelled of decay and fear, sweet but sour. This tempted his taste buds as well as disgusts them. Then he returned his gaze towards Valice with cold hard eyes that turned his emerald and sapphire eyes black.
"You have no right in this world anymore. You are blinded by power which should be taken away. Your existence will no longer exist as long as I am around," said Leo gripping the hilt of his weapon harder as he raised the weapon horizontally, flat side facing Valice.
"You think you can stop me?" questioned Valice.
"No, not alone I can't. I know there are those who will help me. Those who have hope. They must remember that hope continues to live even though everyone gives up," responded Leo drawing his left hand across just enough to bleed and let a drop fall to the ground.
"Even if there are those that can help you, my necromancy will end any aid you have," sneered Valice.
"Oh really? Blood is a valuable thing, don't you agree?" asked Leo.
"Blood is nothing to me," responded Valice.
"I'd think twice about that. Bloody Nightmare," said Leo with a content face.
The blood that was splattered across the floor began to react and extend itself into the sky. The blood drop that fell to the ground, merged with bloody floor giving Leo full control. Each extension shot through an undead before anything else happened.
"It's judgment time...or not," said Leo as the undead began to explode, one after another. "With this blade given to me by the great divine, Valhalla, I will defeat you for the life of this world but not alone."
The blade began to shine as it turned black and become a given weapon, a great sword, long and light. The blade is clear as if it was made of crystal and the hilt curved out to create a shell. Its extensions curved towards the hand until it was only an inch away. The rest of the hilt wrapped around the edge of the blade.
"It all ends here for you Valice," said Leo.
"I'd like to see you try," responded Valice.
