...in which both Timon and Zazu surprise each other.

The tags explain so I'll let you get to the good part.

The Clawed Couple

The sun was setting over the savanna, bleeding the sky vermilion. Heat shone off the horizon in shimmering waves. Even the dancing blades of grass took on the hue. Red drowned the world. Zazu was perched in their tree and overlooked the surrounding area. He alternated between casting about with his gaze before returning to his current hobby. The red-billed hornbill set wings back to decorating a nest.

The wicker-looking wood bits were woven together in the crook of the tree's largest branches. Before, the twigs were bare, but now the entire thing was fluffed with bits of leaves, moss, and down.

Placing a large blue feather between the interwoven twigs, he gave a firm nod at his work, satisfied, and caught movement from the corner of his eye bobbing over the hill. It was Timon.

Zazu always felt his heart lift a little when the meerkat came over that hill. The Pridelands were a safe place, especially for the important meerkat as a friend of the king, but something in the back of his mind always reminded him that anything could happen. It was gone, as usual, alleviated by Timon's presence.

The meerkat reached the bottom of the tree and found the series of depressions carved into it. They were perfectly proportioned for his paws to grasp and make the climb with little exertion. In a moment, he had crawled up beside Zazu and the bird smiled at him warmly. The sun was behind Timon and it caught in his fur, setting him alight in the gloaming.

"Well, it seems you've made it back safely." Zazu broke the silence, attempting not to look at the nest. He wanted the meerkat to notice it himself and make a remark. "Your day was pleasant, I presume?"

"Yeaaah, things went alright today. Nothin' really ta' complain about. Pumbaa wants to go back and visit the old haunts, rustle up the old grubs. I dunno. I love the guy, but sometimes he gets all emotional over things and places."

Zazu chuckled at that. "He does, but he's your best friend. Shouldn't you accompany him anyhow? What's so bad about visiting the oasis again? I should like to think you're growing far too comfortable with your life here."

"If he hasn't gone to far," Timon added, bracing his back with his paws and stretching it out. "I'll catch up with him tomorrow. The oasis sounds perfect to get out the back pain. Yeesh!"

Zazu shook his head. As usual, the meerkat took little convincing to change his mind. He has similar ideas all the time and just needs a little push to get out the cave entrance.

Timon finished stretching and crossed his arms behind his back, peering around the hornbill. The nest looked a lot comfier than it did the day before.

"Oh, ya finally get around to fluffing the nest? Looks good, Zaz." Timon pecked his lover on the side of his beak and walked over to the new nest. The woven twigs were now covered in tiny bits of moss and downy feathers. The "headboard" was a shiny piece of rock with a sprig of Zazu's own brilliant blue tail feathers garnishing it.

"It's very jungle chic. I love it!"

Zazu beamed with pride at the compliment. "It took me half the afternoon to complete, but it's worth it to see the look on your muzzle. You know I'm not the 'feathering the nest' type."

"No, but ya do have those organizational skills." Timon laughed, mimicking claws grasping at sand. Zazu chuckled at the movement and the two shared an inside joke. "Shall we try it out?" Timon waved a paw grandly at the bedding.

"Frankly, my darling, I've been waiting all day."

With a flap of his wings, Zazu hopped into the nest and spread his wings as the meerkat settled into them. The movements were fluid and practiced. As soon as the feathers settled around him, Timon and Zazu both let out a sigh. The bird's clawed feet flexed and unflexed, testing the durability of the nest.

"Wow, this is nice." Timon remarked.

"Indeed, indeed."

"So comfortable, and you put extra fluff at the top for yourself! Very nice. I can feel it through your body."

"Mhmm."

They shared a companionable silence as the last light of the sun left the sky. It had cooled down with the coming of night and the savanna's nocturnal life scrambled out of their holes. Shapes bounded through the grass and the hiss of insect life churned the air. Wind rustled the top of their tree as the couple wound down from another long day, safe in the high branches.

"How was your day at the Rock, Zaz?" Timon asked softly, running his paws along the hornbill's wing. The movement always preceded a request for some nighttime fun. Zazu preened his wings often and the meerkat knew all of the hornbill's sweet spots. Timon liked to play casual, like it was always Zazu's idea.

"Oh, nothing out of the ordinary for me either, but everything to complain about. The lions are still lions, and the circle of life twirls ever on under the stars." Zazu nuzzled the back of the meerkat's neck with his bill.

"Awww, that was romantic."

"You think so? I'm rather proud of it myself."

"You're evadin' the question, though." Timon fidgeted with a loose feather protruding from the nest. "I know there's supposed to be something big happening with Simba and Nala. Pumbaa hasn't seen either of them in a week and they aren't talkin' to anyone."

Zazu clicked his beak, a nervous gesture. The meerkat rolled his head up to look into the majordomo's eyes. "Is something wrong?"

"No, nothing's wrong. They just aren't listening to me as usual." Zazu grimaced and sniffed. "They're having a tiff over where to have Kiara's first pouncing lessons and I summarily dismissed the idea. She doesn't need to learn these things right now anyway and if we could just gather the lions together to talk about this, we could..."

As Zazu droned on, Timon caught his beak with one paw and kissed the other side of it, trailing down the length of the orange extension. Ah, yes, he was in the mood for some stress relief. He was never the one to come right out and say it, though, as brazen as he usually was. The kisses softened the tirade and Zazu nuzzled the meerkat.

"I'm growing aware that you're wanting something more tonight." Zazu's cloaca began to swell with the attention. Timon stroked a paw through the hornbill's puffy chest-feathers.

"Yeah, c'mon, let's break in the new nest," he whispered.

"'Break it in?'" The bird pretended to consider this idea as his lover stared up at him. "Hmmm, sure. Why not?"

With the go-ahead given, the meerkat rolled his svelte form over. The avian watched him with mild interest as Timon straddled his feathered body, spreading his legs wide and settling his tail-hole on the sensitive organ.

"Ah, yeah, birdy. That's the spot."

Zazu looked unamused. "Birdy? You of all people should know how I detest that moniker." His eyebrow raised as he finished speaking.

"I'm sorry." Timon had the grace to look abashed. "You know I mean it with only the greatest respect. I love you." He leaned down and kissed Zazu again, grinning down at him.

In return, the bird rolled his eyes and waved his wing at him dismissively. "Oh...get on with it, then. I love you too."

He tried not to let the amusement show, but the two of them eased into a chuckling fit as Timon worked his backside on the slowly engorging bird-bit. Heat hit them as it moistened and began to slide up into the meerkat. The two molded together into a comfortable rhythm of love-making. Timon's eyes closed as he rolled his hips, feeling the flesh inside of him.

The nest was well-padded indeed and it made the session a lot more enjoyable. Zazu found that the softness on his back pleased him more than the meerkat did, at the moment. His lover was moaning softly, more of a slight vocalization added to a breath going out. The bird put his wings behind his head and let Timon work him, watching his stomach roll and his cock bounce. He always liked seeing the meerkat on nights similar to this. The stars were twinkling behind him and his fur was ruffled from a night wind.

Grasping his own erection, Timon pumped it while the bird was inside of him. His face was clenched with concentration and the tip of his tongue came out of the side of his mouth. The light stimulation made wonders happen and the meerkat felt the first ticklings of climax.

"Hey, ya any close, Zaz?" he huffed out.

"Yes," The hornbill said back. "Don't mess up the nest though, I worked hard on it today."

"Open ya beak..."

"My what? Don't tell me you're planning on-"

Throwing back his head, Timon squeezed his cock hard and shot his cum all over Zazu's beak. He writhed on top of the bird as the pleasure did its work. Most of the sticky warm fluid got inside, but some strands were left clinging on the outside. He aimed well. Zazu swallowed reflexively to clear his throat.

"I say! Of all the nerve, Timon!"

The meerkat shushed him and began to ride him harder, more earnestly. "Shut ya beak, Zaz, you know it was hot. I can see ya liked it."

The hornbill formulated an indignant reply, but his lower body overrode that decision. The meerkat brought him to climax again and the bird clenched his beak, surfing on the pleasure. He was completely silent throughout it all, as always.

Both satisfied, the mammal rolled over to the side and grabbed the fluffy leaves they piled by the nest for this exact occasion. He quickly cleaned up Zazu's beak and the rest of his body of uncomfortable fluids. The hornbill did love his cleanliness and Timon loved him. Throwing the leaf over the side, he returned to the bird's chest and to snuggling.

"Was it good for you?" He asked, cheekily.

Zazu deigned to respond to the meerkat's obvious jibe. "Yes, quite. Now hush so we can sleep. You have a long holiday tomorrow and I have a day ahead of me of soothing bruised egos and pampering overgrown babies." He settled down farther into the fluffy down and closed his eyes, ending the conversation.

Timon shook his head and cradled it where Zazu's neck met his shoulder, curling around the hornbill. His breathing deepened and he was soon fast asleep.

Zazu pulled a wing up and around the meerkat, nuzzling his brow with his beak before letting sleep overtake him as well. The stars twirled overhead and the circle spun madly on.
