"Okay, we're running out of time" said Leomon "Let's go meet Alanis"

The sun was already peeking through the mountains when Alanis entered the big Hall. The group of friends was already there

"I'm glad to see you're on time" said the otter "We'll leave immediately"

"How far is the tower?" asked Leomon.

"Three days from here, if we walk" said the otter.

The entire room filled with a blue shine, Kimahri and the others felt a rush of cold air enveloping them and a tingling sensation all over their bodies, the shine became more intense and disappeared. They opened their eyes, apparently they were still in the same room.

"What happened?" asked Daniel "Why are we still here?"

"You're wrong" said Alanis "We're not in the temple anymore"

Suddenly, the doors opened and a tiger entered the room, he was wearing the same kind of tunic Alanis had and seemed to be relieved to see the otter.

"Alanis! Thank the gods, we need all the help we can get"

They saw they were indeed no longer in the temple. Outside the room they could see a large hall were several furs were walking in a hurry.

"The New Dawn is here" continued the tiger "they surrounded then tower during the night and they have us trapped here"

"How many?" asked the otter.

"Thousands, after attacking the tower of earth, they increased their size at least three times."

"I thing we should see how things are" said Eqqus.

They walked out of the room still a little confused.

"I don't know why they need us that much" said Alex to Crocodyne "Alanis must have used a very powerful spell to bring us here, our level is too low to fight an army"

"I don't think they have brought us here to fight" said Crocodyne "I'm starting to understand what they want us to do, and I don't like it."

"Attention! Guardians of the tower!"

The thunderous voice interrupted everyone's thoughts and the ran to a balcony to see the surroundings of the tower, what they saw filled them with angst, all around the tower, the fields were covered with the members of the New Dawn. There were enormous catapults everywhere loaded with gigantic rocks. A huge group of archers had their bow guns ready and aiming at the tower, waiting for the order to start the attack. Thousands and thousands of furs waited with spears and swords ready. Despite its enormous size, there weren't much furs in the tower of the circle of water, probably a thousand, including both soldiers and priests.

"My name is Krate" said a raptor in front of the army "I am one of the generals of the New Dawn's army, you can see you don't have a chance against us, surrender now and your lives will be spared. The New Dawn does not wish to spill blood, you know what we want. I'll be merciful and I'll give you half an hour. If I don't have it in my hands by then, I swear to you... there won't be a single rock of your precious tower standing by noon, and you will all be dead!"

Dante immediately touched his bracelet and a hologram with the option menu appeared, the black wolf selected the timer and it started running.

"Follow me, quick!" said Alanis and she started running through one of the hallways, they followed her and entered one of the rooms. There was a shrine in the centre, behind the shrine there was a small fountain. The otter kneeled before the shrine and started muttering something I a language that the others could not understand. The water from the fountain rose through the air and started to compress itself until it turned into a small pearl that rested over Alanis's hands.

"This represents the essence of the circle of water" said Alanis "Inside this gem is the power that gives to the four circles the ability to control all the water on this world. As long as this pearl exists, so will our powers"

The otter approached the group of friends and placed the pearl on Kimahri's hands.

"Now you must go"

"What are you saying?" asked Daniel "we're supposed to be here to fight"

"No" said Crocodyne "they want us to take the pearl with us, those were their intentions since the beginning"

They all turned to look at Alanis.

"It's true" said the otter "We'll never win against that army, all we can do is drive the essence of the circle of water away as much as possible from them"

None of them moved.

"Hurry, there is no time, we must go back to the meditation hall so you can be sent away from here"

"We're not going anywhere" said Alex "We'll take the pearl to a safe place, but only after we have won this battle"

The others stared at Alex, The grizzly bear's expression was of pure determination.

"Please" implored Alanis.

"We didn't came here to lose" continued Alex.

"I don't want to be pessimistic" said Alex "But it will be a miracle if we win"

"Then we'll make a miracle" said Daniel standing next to Alex.

"That's just what I wanted to hear" said a gryphon as he entered the hall.

It was a big white gryphon, his white tunic was different than Alanis's, the blue circles in it were high lined with golden lines, and the look of his blue eyes was astonishing.

"He is Abel" said Alanis "he is the high master of the circle of water"

"You really are the chosen ones" said Abel "If we win this battle, we'll send a powerful message, both to our allies and our enemies"

"Alex must have a plan" said Kimahri "What is it?"

"Well, this is the tower of the circle of water" said the bear "but I don't see much water around. There were fountains and gardens all over Alanis's temple, it's obvious that the most representative place of this element should be at least in the same conditions"

"That's a good observation" said the griffin "and you are right, there's lots of water here, but it's not around us, it's underneath us, there's an underground river beneath the tower."

"Ok, what about the clouds?" asked Dante.

"There are a few, but not enough to create rain"

"I know that look" said Leomon "I think I know what you're up to"

"That's right" said the wolf "even without being member of the four circles... I'm going to create rain"

"Then it's all settled" said Crocodyne "We'll fight"

"We don't have much time left" said Alex "Dante will need a few things. Alanis, you help him get them. Abel, we need al the priests gathered in the praying room"

With the time against them, they started their strategy.

Ten minutes later, Dante and Crocodyne were climbing to the roof carrying a few sacs. Some furs were there stitching pieces of clothes. Others were wetting pieces of rags in alcohol and putting them in small baskets.

"How are we doing?" asked Dante.

"They're almost ready sir" answered a fox.

"Good, you know what to do, no matter what happens, you must finish"

A few floors below, the door to the praying chamber closed, leaving nearly 50 priests in deep meditation inside. Abel and Leomon were walking towards the main balcony.

"As long as the doors stay closed, there will be hope" said the griffin.

Daniel was walking through the same hallway, he meet Abel and Leomon and gave them a briefing.

"Everything is ready, now it's up to the priests"

The cougar was holding the pearl and offered it to Abel.

"I think it will be better if you have this"

"No" said Abel "we must send it to a safe place"

He placed both hand around Daniel's claw. A shining covered it for a moment and the pearl disappeared.

I sent it to someone we can trust" said Abel "but you'll have to go and get it later"

Alex, Leomon, Kimahri and Eqqus were at the balcony, watching the huge army getting ready to attack.

"Do you really think this is going to work?" asked Kimahri to Alex.

"I'm sure of it, besides, we don't have much of a choice, if we loose now, the New Dawn will be invincible."

"Alex is right" said Eqqus "We can defeat them, just stay away from Krate, he's mine."

"Is Eqqus still planning to leave after this battle?" asked the Ronso.

"Yes, I'm sorry, but I have fought too many battles, I just want to avenge my friend, I know you are capable of finishing this alone."

The sound of steps made them turn to see Abel and the others approaching the balcony.

"Everything is ready" said the griffin "I need my armour, I'll meet you at the gate"

A few minutes later they were all at the entrance of the tower, the huge doors were closed, most of the soldiers were there, anxiously waiting for their leader. Abel appeared and advanced towards the gates with a steady pace, the huge white griffin's attire was a golden armour. He looked magnificent.

"It is almost time" said Dante "Daniel, go and wait for my signal"

The cougar started running towards the praying room.

"Your time is over!" they heard Krate screaming "What is your answer?"

The doors opened and Abel walked through them, the sun light made his armour sparkle. Daniel reached the doors of the praying room. Alanis was waiting there.

"All is set" said the otter "The priests have gathered all the underground water around the castle"

"Good" said Daniel "Now we wait"

Abel stood on front of the army of the New Dawn without moving. Krate had waited for the gryphon to speak. Abel just closed his eyes and concentrated.

"Son of a bitch" muttered the brown raptor "He thinks he can muck us. Bring him to me!"

Five furs advanced towards him, Abel didn't moved an inch.

"Get Daniel" said Alex to the wolf.

Dante touched his bracelet and activated his radio.

"Get ready" said Dante.

The furs continued advancing, they were less than a hundred feet away from Abel. The griffin opened his eyes and they shined with a supernatural power. The five furs stopped in their tracks, they started feeling an intense pain all over their bodies. The gryphon extended his right arm towards them and all their bodily fluids started leaving their bodies. They yelled and twisted in pain as all the water was extracted from their bodies, mummifying them alive. The five bodies fell to the ground and a sphere made of water remained in the air. The griffin moulded it with his mind until it took the shape of a spear and then he froze it. The ice spear immediately flew through the air and stuck into one of the furs that stood next to Krate.

"That's our answer!" yelled Abel

"Very well" said the raptor "So be it"

Krate raised his left arm and at his sign, over 1000 archers and 100 catapults fired. Abel just turned around and started walking back to the tower.

"Now!" ordered Dante through his intercom.

"Now!" repeated Daniel.

Alanis communicated with the priests in the praying room using telepathy. All the water in the underground rivers around started to climb up through the ground and hardened, forming a thick ice wall around the tower. Abel kept walking back to the tower while the wall formed behind him. The rocks and arrows hit the wall without making even a scratch. Daniel was watching from the balcony.

"Awesome!" he exclaimed "How can a simple Ice wall be so strong?"

"It wouldn't normally be so" said Alanis "But the priests are making the molecules to be so united that is impossible to penetrate it, it won't last like that tough."

"Daniel" said Alex through the intercom "Next stage"

"Got it" said the cougar and headed towards the tower's roof.

Abel was back at the entrance of the tower and talked to his men.

"In a few moments, that ice wall will fall, and the army of the New Dawn will attack us with all his strength, the priests will be very tired, so, everything will be up to us. I want you all to focus, we must join our minds."

Daniel reached the roof. The furs that were working there had finished. They had built near a dozen of small balloons. They resembled weather balloons and were ready to be launched. In the base of each balloon was a charge with explosives and one with silver Iodine. Daniel looked up and saw the thin clouds on the sky.

"I just hope this works" muttered the cougar "Let them go"

The furs released the balloons and they started gaining altitude quickly. There was a loud crash and Daniel saw they had managed to make a hole on the wall. The priests were growing weak.

"Get ready!" ordered the griffin unsheathing his sword.

All the men aligned outside the tower. On the other side of the wall, Krate's men continued throwing rocks.

"Sir!" said a wolf approaching the raptor "We don't have more rocks"

You're an imbecile" said the raptor "Don't you remember we have to power of the circle of earth?"

The raptor advanced a few steps and raised his arms, the ground started shaking and huge blocks of stone came out of it. Krate yelled and the blocks crashed against the ice wall, cracking it. Inside the praying room, the priests felt the wall giving in. Despite being very tired, they all made a last effort and melted the ice wall. Outside the tower, the soldiers of the New Dawn watched in awe as the huge ice wall melted in seconds and all the water pooled around all over the battle field.

"Attack!" screamed Abel and everyone lurched against the soldiers of the New Dawn.

Both armies were approaching, the Four Circles soldiers were overwhelmingly outnumbered by the New Dawn. They were still a few feet away when all the furs of the four circles threw themselves to the ground, revealing what was behind them. The water from the ice wall had solidified again and a huge coat of ice had formed on the field. The ice broke and countless pieces advanced towards the invading army at a tremendous speed. The chunks of ice started hitting them, causing them huge bruises and cuts. Some soldiers follower Krate's example, who had taken one of his men and used him as a shield. When the ice train finally stopped, the army of the New Dawn had been reduced almost in half. The furs of the Four Circles stood again, no one had suffered even a scratch. The attacked the members of the New Dawn before they could recover. The field filled with the sounds of the crashing swords. Leomon and the others, except Eqqus and Daniel, had formed a circle and each one protected the other's back, their skills had increased a lot, but there were so many enemies that they could barely hold them at bay. Abel was fighting with as much rage as grace. His wings allowed him to jump high above to dodge the attacks of his opponents. He was moving with such speed that some of his enemies died without even realizing. As he was sticking his sword in the chest of a fur, he was breaking another's neck, then he jumped and kicked a third. After a while, the furs were afraid to approach him. Eqqus was moving amongst the sloppy mass of fighters, searching for Krate. From time to time, somefur tried to attack him, but he was defeated by the skilful horse in a split second. Then he saw Krate, the raptor was sorronded by a group of furs from the Four Circles. One of them attacked the raptor directly, Krate swung his sword, breaking his attacker's. all attacked him at the same time, there were easily 10 furs. Krate moved so fast that even Eqqus was having problems following his movements. The strength of the raptor's blows broke the weapons, armours and bones of his opponents alike. When there was only one fur left in front of him, Krate raised his sword and grinned evilly. The sword fell and hit the blade of a scythe. The wounded and scared fur backed away as Eqqus took his place.

"Remember me? You and I have a score to set" said Eqqus.

"Go ahead, I defeated you before, and I'll do it again" said the raptor.

Eqqus raised his weapon and immediately attacked the raptor. Krate moved fast and dodged all the horse's attacks, then he countered. His speed was amazing. Eqqus had trained very hard for this moment, but he was still having a hard time to block the raptor's attacks. Krate was leaping and faking attacks, trying to brake Eqqus concentration, he was using even his tail to try to hit him, but the blade of his sword never touched the horse. They were both so enthralled in their fight that they couldn't see what was happening around. None of the sides was giving in. Slowly, the New Dawn started overpowering the Four Circles. Alex and the others had separated and they were fighting on their own. Dante was fighting against a rabbit. The wolf had his two short swords and the rabbit had two sai knives. They were both exchanging hits so fast and strong that looked like if their weapons would break in any second. They heard several explosions high above. Daniel had detonated the charges of the balloons. The small particles of silver iodine spread through the atmosphere and started to attract all the moistness in the air around their core. Daniel was distracted for just a second, but that was enough for the rabbit and he pierced the wolf's left claw with his sai. Dante screamed in pain and saw the rabbit jumping towards him, ready to bury his other sai on his heart. The wolf fell over his back and placed his sword in front of him sticking it on the rabbit's chest. Eqqus and Krate were still fighting. Krate attacked and their weapons meet again. The raptor's face was a few inches from the horse's. they were both looking into their eyes. Suddenly, Eqqus felt a sharp pain on his right leg, the raptor had used the claws on his feet to cause him a deep wound. Eqqus backed away tumbling and the raptor wounded him on a side. Eqqus dropped his weapon and with his left had took the raptor's claw, with his right fist, he delivered a dozen of powerful punches in the raptor's face, then he released him and they both fell to the ground. They knew that in the heat of such battle, they could not stay like that, so they stood with difficulty, took their weapons, and continued their fight. Abel was fighting five enemies at once, his white feathers were tinted in blood, nearly all of it was his enemies. Leomon fell on the floor, he had lost his sword and had a wound on his back. The fox that attacked him prepared his final attack, in the very moment he raised his sword, a droplet of water fell over his nose and they heard a thunder. Leomon laughed.

"You already lost" he said.

The fox looked up, the sky was covered with thick, black clouds. Another thunder fell and it started to rain. The fox attacked, but in the last moment, Leomon jumped and screamed:

"Fist of the beast king!"

A huge ball of energy with the shape of a lion's head left his right fist and hit the fox. Everybody knew what the rain meant. Even the weakest soldier of the circle of water could use such amount of liquid. And they all used it in various ways. Some used it to create shields, the strongest ones locked their enemies on a water bubble and drowned them. Victory was secure. Eqqus and Krate were heavily panting, they were both so tired they could barely stand.

"Give it up" said Eqqus "Your army is finished"

"Maybe" said the raptor "But at least I'll take you with me"

Krate attacked again and Eqqus tried to block it with his scythe. Krate's sword broke Eqqus's weapon in half. The horse quickly dodged Krate's next attack and shoved both blades of his scythe on the raptor's sides. Krate fell backwards.

"It doesn't matter" said the raptor "You have won nothing"

The earth shook strongly and before everyone's horrified look, the tower of the circle of water started to fall.

"Daniel!" screamed Alex.

The cougar was still in the tower, he was running along with Alanis, trying to find a way out. A huge pillar fell in front of him and the otter, shutting their way.

Eqqus couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"That's the power of my lord Seth" said Krate "You'll never have a chance against him"

"Shut the hell up already!" yelled Eqqus and chopped the raptor's head with his own sword.

The battle was over, nearly 300 furs of the Four Circles were dead, and none of the remaining ones was unharmed. But, not a single fur of the 10000men New Dawn army had survived. They all approached the ruins of the tower, there didn't seemed to be any survivors. Suddenly, a huge block of rock moved a little. A group of furs immediately ran to remove it, revealing Daniel and Alanis, they were both unconscious, but alive, the cougar had protected the otter with his body.

Later that day, they were all back at Alanis's temple. Daniel and Alanis were being taken care of while the rest was at the main door. Eqqus was ready to leave.

"I wish you wouldn't had to go" said Leomon hugging the horse.

"I did what I came here to do, besides, I have full confidence in you.

"I'd still like you to stay"

"Maybe some day we'll meet again" said Eqqus "Right now, you have a mission here, and I have a life to start"

Eqqus bid farewell and started walking towards the main street. The doors of the temple closed. The group of friends gathered in one of the gardens. Abel pulled a map, most of the kingdom could clearly be seen in it.

"We are here" said Abel marking a point in the west side of the map "The gem should be right about... here"

Abel's claw moved towards a point in the north.

"This forest is about two days from here" said the griffin "the New Dawn lost this battle, but that means they will redouble their efforts, we must get to the closest tower as soon as possible."

Abel pointed a huge chain of mountains to the east, almost in the other end of the map.

"The tower of the circle of water should be somewhere around here"

"Can you take us there?" asked Dante.

"I can get you close to it" said Abel "It's way too far, I can't take you all the way."

"I suggest we split" said Crocodyne "It's the only way to reach both places before the New Dawn"

"Sounds reasonable" said Alex "If we get there before them, there won't be need for another battle"

"What you need to do right now is get some rest" said Abel "You'll be able to leave tomorrow, once you've recovered"

"Where is exactly the gem?" asked Kimahri.

"I sent it to an old friend" answered the gryphon "His name is Gabriel, I'll give you the details tomorrow, right now you should get some rest"

The group of friends parted and each one entered a room. Three hours later, Alex was still awake, the huge bear was laying on his bed with his hands behind his head. He started remembering the night at the inn...

The tub is ready" said Crocodyne walking out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist "You're on Dante"
