The Dark-Wolf Legacy: Ch. 1
The Dark-Wolf Legacy: Chapter 1 "From the Ashes..."
Present ...
Hey... are you with me?
"W-who is this..?"
...heh... you can call me your 'Guardian Angel' for now... boy, you sure got lucky back there
"...Lucky... guardian angel..? What happened..?"
Just hold your questions until we get back to town... You're a wreck
"I... can't... b...br... ughhh..."
Hey... hey! Hold on! SHIT!
Past The field smelt of gunpowder and freshly made swords, the clanking of armor and thundering hooves filled the air. The army was made ready and soon the battle of Tamriel would begin...
"First line! Make ready...!" the captain shouted. All the men answered with a loud "HOOOAAAAH!" as they raised their swords in anticipation of the upcoming battle. "Prepare for your moment of triumph! For today, we take Tamrie... what the hell..?" the words seemed to be stolen from the air as a gust of wind carrying the scent of brimstone blew through the field. The sky turned a hazy-coal and the sun became but a distant glow. A figure, not seen before by anyone, had suddenly taken a stand upon an outcropping, just behind the Captain. "YOU! State your name... from what kingdom do you hail...? The figure was garbed in a dark robe, his eyes glowing a brilliant silver. Black wings jutted from his back, and two swords dangled from either side of his hip. His body was that of an anthro-wolf, and as the captain gave a questioning look, one of the men let a cry. "DEMON! It's a bloody Demon! I say we kill i... ... .." as quickly as the word demon was uttered, the figure seemed to appear behind the soldier. One of the other men seemed to notice something strange happened and patted the soldier's shoulder, "Hey... you ok..?" A fine red line appeared across the neck of the elite as his head rolled off of his torso, spraying out a fine stream of blood. "AAAAAAACK!" the bystander cried, as blood covered him... The others quickly swarmed over the figure as he burst out from the middle of them in a tremendous leap, scattering the few soldiers around him to a great distance.
The REAL Battle had begun...
Present "..."
...ok, that's enough sleeping... Wake up time! ~Splash!~
"GACK! ~cough cough!~ Wh-whats that for!?"
Well well well, look who woke up...
"Yeh.. Thanks a lot, where am I? And why can't I see, and why can't I remember anything?"
Whoa, slow down there buddy. You can't see because your eyes are closed.. you might wanna try opening them.. and you're at an inn in the outskirts of Chai'Katan. But as to your memory loss, I cannot say"
"Ugh... ok, so that answers some questions, but raises many others."
And they will be answered in time.. but for now, you should eat.. here
"Mmmf-~munch~-I never did get your name"
... it's-
Past -"CAIN! Hurry we're gonna be late for the battle!"
"Yeah yeah, I'm commin' Baldur. So tell me, why are you in a hurry to die?"
"HA! You'll see, I'll be commin back a hero I will!"
"Riiiiggght.. well when you're big an' famous, leave me out of it"
"heh, whatever ye' say brother" The two left, slamming the door behind them, not yet knowing the role they will play in the land's history, and in its demise.
Present The Town seemed to bustle with the sounds of people carrying along with their own tedious duties, oblivious to the outside world that slowly threatened to fall down upon them like the terrible downpour after that first thunderclap of impending devastation. How blissful ignorance must be, to walk around like you're no one special, to think that "Hey, it can never happen to me... the odds don't add up". But they do...
...They always do...
The clacking of hooves against the cobblestone streets seemed to cooperate in a harmonious symphony with the clanking of the smithy's hammer against the anvil accompanied with the market's various shop-owners desperately trying to push off their products as some miracle cure intended to deepen the townsfolk's false hope into a state of secure-delusion.
They know it...
They must know it...
But they are too deep in self-gratification of the superiority of their own existence to care..
That's how it works... How it's always worked... "Hey.... HEY!... Quit yer daydreamin' and keep movin'... not a nice place to get lost in wouldn' ye say?"
The robed smithy seemed to talk to me in a confident tone, like he knew where I was going and what my purpose was... he... seemed familiar... like a familiar face, suddenly lost in the confines of your subconscious...
"Yeh... I guess... Pray tell, what is your name, sir...?"
"Aye, my name's Cain. I used ta' be a legionnaire of the 34th wouldn' ye know?... alas, ever since the massacre at the Valley of Ghosts.. well... I just rather not talk about it"
"...The Valley Of Ghosts?"
"Ye' not know of the battle of Tamriel?"
"..........."
"Hello? Are ye' w.... m..e?"
"............."
"Ar...e.....y...u.....k?"
The words seemed to vanish into empty space as I slipped into a flashback... a strange memory that appeared out of nowhere...
Past ~WHAM!~
Every pair of eyes in the tavern seemed to dart towards the dark figure that dared to shatter the serenity that filled the air. The figure was garbed in a black robe that seemed to suck in all light that shone upon it. An uneasy silence filled the room as the robed stranger made his way to the fireplace and curled up next to it, falling asleep almost immediately.
"Quite the pair this guys got on 'im, bargin' in like that... what's he trying to prove?"
With that said, the patron rose from his seat and made his way over to the robed apparition. "Let's just see who's under here..." he said, as he took the edge of the hood and pulled it back. "...!" The patron backed away in horror as the figure rose to meet his glare. "y-you're the Demon... the one they're looking for..."
"And what do you plan on doing about it...?"
"....n-nothing...?"
"...good boy" the figure said, as he gave the human a pat on the head before heading back over to the fireplace and resuming his nap.
Present "I said, 'Are you ok?'"
"...huh?... o..oh! Yeh yeh... just lost in thought is all"
"Riight, anywho... ye' might wanna be headin' on your way... ye' be a suspicious lookin' fellow all dressed up in black like that... could ye' remove the hood for a moment?"
"i...uh um... I have a skin condition... really horrible, you probably don't want to see me like this"
"Aye, I understand... well, be on yer way then"
I spent the afternoon wandering aimlessly around the town, desperately trying to get my bearings. Chai'Katan was a big town, easy to get lost in. I made my way back to the humble abode of my Guardian, who I have come to know as 'Raziel'. He took care of me, made me meals, and looked after me. He said my memory wouldn't come back for quite some time... and two weeks later...
It all came crashing down at once...
