The Nightmare before

Christmas

Part One

Winter had come full force to Johto in the last ten days since Ian and Evin had taken different paths. It had only been two days since Evin and Dawn had made it to the snow covered city of Goldenrod, but their party was feeling restless as things in this region were nearly as unstable as many of the others. Their ride across the ocean for the second time was a bit unsettling, but had also been uneventful, which they were all thankful for as Evin was not thrilled with what he remembered from his first boat ride. Evin and Rika were both relieved to be back on solid land and the egg that Rika carried with her at all times was well cared for as she kept it moist and warm in her arms.

Dawn was in good spirits since this was yet another new place she had never been to; a place that she knew Ash had at one time traveled in after his first league challenge. The pokemon and plants she also saw here were very different from the ones she was used to, but that is what made it exciting for her since she was used to exploring new environments.

Rika however sniffed the air with mild distaste. Her kind had never dwelled in this land before and it seemed to also be throwing off her sense of direction as she had more than once confused north with south and viceversa on west with east. This was not her home, nor did she want it to be. Unova was where she had been born and she intended to return there when possible since she was not comfortable with the idea of her child being hatched in such a place even though she knew it would happen soon.

Evin's sense of direction was also similarly impaired; he didn't like it, but this place was also one of his best remembered regions from both the pokemon show and the game. With that and also knowing about the other maps with more places than what the game had ever shown him in the past, he was both curious and eager to begin exploring. He had also been sending out psychic calls throughout the area ever since their arrival in his quest to find the one who might help him hone his senses, but as of yet he had not received an answer.

Unova was in total lockdown, and while Evin had gotten a message through to Professor Juniper after his first day at the Goldenrod pokemon center, he learned that Team Rocket had reformed their ranks back in Unova as they had not entirely left the region as everyone had believed. But in all of this, Evin also learned that Team Rocket was beefing up their defenses at other facilities all around the world, in particular Johto, which gave everyone the indication that they were somehow keeping track of Evin's movements.

He also heard from the professor that the legendary pokemon were also on the move and that many were trying to protect their territories, but were instead being systematically overpowered by Team Rocket's Special Force units. Professor Juniper had then told him that there had been resent confirmed sightings in Johto of both Suicune and a Celebi being held captive at a new Team Rocket facility located near where they were.

The news did not sit well with anyone since this also meant that Evin was being tasked with saving the legendary pokemon from their captors. But with Evin also wanting to look for the fabled psychic pokemon Mewtwo, the situation had put a hex on his plans. After his big run in with Team Rocket from last time in Unova, Evin doubted that he had enough power or mastery of his powers to really lay siege to a fortresses. He was torn between going on the hasty offensive or taking time to look for a potential ally and teacher since he also knew Mewtwo hated Team Rocket with a passion.

Without Reshiram to help, Evin had been left with only his umbreon Shadow, Victini, Rika, Zora and the freshly unshackled half insane Groudon that was still too dangerous and unpredictable to use in a common pokemon battle or set free. Dawn's pokemon on the other hand were much too gentle and fragile for all-out war, being that she had Piplup, her espeon Cilia, Servine, Herdier, Sewaddle and little Sasha the oshawott that Dawn had finally found a nickname for. As hard as it was for Evin to say it, he knew that he would have to ask her if she could send at least two of her weakest pokemon back to Professor Rowan for safe keeping, for their safety and so he could trade Groudon to her along with another he had in mind for later so that she would be protected.

Sasha had been on the learning-curb lately, as Evin had now seen firsthand at how fast pokemon developed in captivity, but even then Sasha was still very young, rambunctious, and didn't understand what a deadly enemy really was. She was the one that Evin believed above all the rest should be sent to safety since she was the youngest, but he hated the thought of even asking Dawn to do such a thing since it was he himself along with his pokemon that gifted Sasha to her not very long ago.

The other choices he had in mind were Piplup or Sewaddle since they were her other two smallest and least up for all-out war. He doubted that Dawn would ever send Piplup away for any reason, but with Sewaddle he was at least sure she'd agree. He wanted to help her build a strong team that could take on any challenge, so that when he was engaged on the front line she could be his backup when things went wrong. He hated depending on his powers alone, since if he died or fainted during a bad moment of a conflict Dawn would then be left to her own devices in getting herself and others out of a bind. He wanted her team to be stronger than his own, so that meant only one thing; he would have to help her build a powerful team.

*Thud* Evin nearly fell over as Rika punched his shoulder again, which was now a habit that she had taken to doing when she felt that his mind had wandered off again. Through her aura bond with him, Rika was privy to Evin's moods and could often sense when his thoughts had begun to drift back to other less than spectacular things, which had become his habit lately.

Though having him back was a huge relief, things were different between them. Aside from Rika's obvious fear of being separated from him again, she and Dawn were always pinching or swatting him to reassure themselves that he was really with them again. But for Zora however, she did so in playful if not mischievous fashion, which had led both Dawn and Rika into realizing that she had ambushed him during their absents.

That little detail was of little consequence however, since at the moment they were still trying to get past their troubled feelings from before they had learned of his survival and had yet to even feel romantic or frisky in any way. It was like he was back from the dead, which was in Evin's case literal since he did in fact die before being cocooned by his powers, which in turn gave both Dawn and Rika a sense of mixed feelings towards Evin's entity induce modifications.

Evin had told the three women his plans for finding Mewtwo and his reasons for doing so. Needless to say that both human and pokemon alike would have been happier not knowing that such a pokemon with nearly identical powers to Evin's existed. But on the flip side of that coin, it sounded almost too good to be true that Evin might actually find someone to teach him how to control his powers.

Setting off from the pokemon center into the great snowy beyond for like the eighth time since they had arrived in Goldenrod City only a couple days ago, they intended to investigate the nearest reported sighting of Team Rocket capturing a celebi. Evin wasn't sure what the others knew of celebi's powers, but he was keenly aware of the damage that could be caused if they used that pokemon for their ambitions. He could almost half imagine the world subtly changing with or without his knowledge as his enemies instantly became the rulers of the world long before he had ever come to it.

They were walking out the city's south gate when Evin finally said in a low if not shamed tone for even asking, "Dawn? Do you think that you might perhaps be okay with sending a few of your pokemon back to Professor Rowan for safe keeping once we get to another pokemon center?" His question was so unexpected that Dawn had to take a moment to think of response before asking, "What for?" Evin lightly scratched his nose as he began again, "Well, I've been thinking about the situation we are all in and have begun to wonder what would happen to you if I wasn't able to protect you.

I mean, I know your team is strong, but I'm not sure all of them are ready or able to handle fighting to stay alive. I'm just concerned for both you and them since we will be plunging ourselves into the heart of the enemies' plans. From here on, things will most likely become more like what happened at the stadium in Unova, only on a much more frequent basis. I want to give you some of the more powerful legendary pokemon we capture so that if I get taken down you can save yourself and perhaps me as well."

Dawn was speechless. She had wondered over the same things in the recent past, but had never thought or considered that Evin would just give her some of the legendries he caught like Groudon. The thought of having a pokemon that powerful was scary. But then knowing that she could end up being Evin's savior instead of the other way around was an enticing idea as well; though she wondered who she might actually send away if she agreed.

Evin saw what she had arrived at and helped her out by quietly stating her three best choices to send back. Dawn was only slightly shocked to hear his predetermined list and was not at all surprised that he had recommended sending Sasha and Sewaddle away, but upon hearing Piplup she wasn't so sure. Piplup had been with her for so long that she considered him a permanent part of her field work team; though she did know why Evin suggested him.

"I appreciate your concern, I really do, but I'm not sure about sending Piplup away. He's been by my side since my journey began, so he and I are sort of attached. For now let's just keep walking and not talk about it anymore, I want to think about it more before I give you a sure answer. I should be able to come up with something by the time we reach the next pokemon center."

In truth Dawn wasn't sure what she would do now that the question of Piplup's strengths and weaknesses were in the air for discussion, but she was determined that she would find a way to make things work one way or another. As of the moment though, she only saw possibilities, but later she hoped the answer would become clear. Christmas Eve was in four days, so she knew Piplup would be just fine for a while longer since she was sure Evin wouldn't press the subject more than he had to.

She shook her head to clear her thoughts of the matter altogether and decided that for now she just wanted things to be nice and calm for the upcoming holiday so that she could enjoy herself a bit before having to make any hard decisions. They had at first planned on staying at the Goldenrod pokemon center until New Year 's Day, but ever since they got the update from Professor Juniper their plans were crushed to pieces. Now on rout thirty four headed for Ilex forest, they were ready for anything that might head their way; at least for anything they expected.

In the city many eyes had been set upon them since pokemon like Zora and Rika were such uncommon visitors, but now that they were finally on the road again there was no one in sight. "Unova apparently isn't the only place where people are afraid to leave the safety of the cities now." Evin said in a mild joking kind of way, but because of this all he got in response from Dawn was a sarcastic "Uh-hu..." as she looked down the road with frightful attentiveness. Dawn's attention to detail as she monitored their surroundings alarmed Evin as she finally said, "This silence is unnatural... There should be pokemon out here, but now that we are far enough from the city, it's too quiet... Let's head back. I know you're powerful, but I don't think we should be out here alone."

Evin took her plea into consideration as he closed his eyes and let his mind wash over the surrounding area. He sensed nothing. No pokemon or humans. It was the strangest sensation he had ever gotten since the day he got his powers, sensing only himself and those with him, which gave him an eerie sense of foreboding. (Dawn is more than right,) he thought to himself, (this entire rout is deserted.) About to agree with Dawn's earlier proposal of heading back to town something caught his attention. A plant that was no bigger than a tree leaf withered and disappeared.

Just then he realized that his earlier fears of Team Rocket messing with time travel was not only possible, but already a solid fact and related what was going on to the others. After hearing what Evin had to say, Zora looked around a bit uneasily and Rika closed her eyes as her dreadlocks rose up. Then suddenly with little more than a flick of her head Rika shouted in their minds, ~He's right! Something strange is coming this way in a wave, and it's erasing everything! We have to leave now!~ Without any more warning the entire forest began to turn brown right in front of the four of them before they burst into a mad dash back the way they had come, while the forest was dying and dissolving into nothing behind them every step of the way.

Soon the first sounds of the city could be heard again in the form of cars honking at each other and then again as terror began to spread throughout the outskirts as people began to notice the creeping death coming right for their home. Upon reaching solid pavement however, the trail of destruction halted its pursuit of them as the once lush green landscape that had once been behind them vanished, leaving only a darkened landscape in its wake.

Upon further inspection as Evin turned back and looked, he said, "They burned down the forest, in another time..."

Mass panic had taken hold of the nearby inhabitants, the police were out in force, but were baffled about the situation and how it would be handled. Evin was furious; he knew that he and everyone else were helpless to stop the mindless destruction happening right before their eyes since they had no way of getting to the past where the destruction was happening. Putting their heads together with all the known trainers, the police, and scientist worth knowing, not one of them had any kind of means to travel to the past to fix the damage or knew of any other reliable options.

Evin knew there had to be some way to get around Team Rocket having the only celebi he knew of, but still wasn't sure of what he should do. The one thing he did find out from the others however was the location of Team Rocket's fortress that was located in the Ruins of Alph. They had apparently chased away or captured most all of the pokemon in the area and had fortified the entire place into an impenetrable base of operation, where Evin learned that it was there that the reports of Team Rocket with the legendries had originated.

The fortress was in the opposite direction of where the time laps of destruction was taking place, but like before, a heavily armed fortress with a standing army of men and enslaved pokemon was something Evin considered beyond his ability to deal with. The police were needed in the city they were in to keep what semblance of peace was left and though they wanted to make a difference, the rest of the trainers and scientists were too afraid to accompany Evin to the fortress to oppose Team Rocket directly.

As usual the police tried to tell Evin that it was way too dangerous for him, mainly because of his age, but also because it was an issue that the army was supposed to handle. Evin didn't pay much mind to their warning since it was all the same song and dance as before with those outside his ring of knowledge and opted to not tell them that he had decided to set out for Violet City.

Rika and Dawn knew without asking what Evin had decided and Zora just didn't care one way or another since she was just ready for a brawl with the organization that had at one time wanted to use her as a breeding cash cow. Zora was more than ready for a fight in fact; she had been wanting to do them some real damage since the day at the stadium when they had overpowered her so easily. It was a few hours before Evin and his group were able to sneak away amidst all the chaos when the police finally took their eyes off them, but once they were on the road and out of sight they broke into a run as they tried to put as much distance between them and Goldenrod as they could.

Even on the road now though, they still weren't alone; which was because of the mass exodus of people leaving the city in fear after witnessing the swath of destruction to the south side of the city. Evin didn't blame them for being scared since it wasn't every day that you could see an entire forest die and disappear right outside your window. So together with the refugees and after putting Zora in her ball to quit drawing attention, Evin and the others made their way towards Violet City.

By nightfall everyone had reached the calm and tranquil boarders of the National park and while Evin and his companions continued on the refugees stopped for the night to rest and did a head count of who was going to Ecruteak City. Evin figured that all of them would be headed to Ecruteak since Violet was right next to Team Rocket's new fortress. But even then he suspected that there might at least be a possible few that would still head to Violet because of relatives, so he wanted to have a good head start on them so he could buy some extra supplies.

Hour after hour passed as Evin, Dawn, and Rika trudged along; they were all tired, but were being driven by a sense of urgency as they tried to make it to Violet city before the next night since the cold was already biting at their bones. During this time Evin speculated that Dawn really needed to get a bike of her own since him being the only one that had one made it kind of a useless tool.

Day break wasn't far off by the time they stopped for their first break. A small fired served as a means to have a warm breakfast and some spare coffee beans and water with a makeshift strainer made them a couple coups of half strength coffee that would help them get through this new day. Rika wanted to collapse and sleep, Dawn wanted to do the same, but Evin was not about to yield their hard won head start so easily.

Breakfast was spent trying to stay awake long enough to get some food and coffee down them before heading off. In that time, Rika had curled up around her egg behind a log they had used as a seat and fell asleep. Once Evin and Dawn had finished their coffee after eating they didn't have the heart to wake her so Evin simply removed the egg from her paws and returned her to her ball so she could continue resting.

Dawn carrying Piplup and Evin carrying the egg, they were back to walking. It wasn't long though before Evin started trying to stir up conversation and said, "I used to go on walks like this often with my dad before the sun had lit the sky, back when we had camped out in the forest my home is in. We didn't stay up all night very often, but there were a few times that we took turns keeping watch when the coyotes were on the prowl. But it was fun even then, since it was just me and him taking on the world back to back even if he didn't spend as much time sleeping as he said he did."

Evin tiredly yawned and asked, "Did you ever do anything like that with your parents?" Dawn meekly held her right elbow with her left hand and said, "I never knew my dad, and my mom never really said much about him, but as far as doing things together the most we've ever done is go to pokemon events and contests in other cities around where we lived. Sure we went shopping whenever the mood struck us, but that's just how it is for most other girls I suppose.

I never really had a desired to go camping in any forest when I was little... ! oh yeah, I almost forgot, beyond the contests and shopping we did near home there was the time that we did go on a cruise ship together when I was still really small for a contest in another region. That was great. We spent two full days of fun in the sun at the swimming pool on the way there and another two days of the same on the way back. They had everything on that ship. Spas, pools, restaurants, a pokemon center, a battle dome, and almost every kind of shop imaginable; the crew was polite and everything was very well kept. I don't know how I had almost forgotten that. Maybe it's just been so long that it's getting hard to remember; either that or all of the recent events have just caused me to forget."

Evin stretched his arms up in the air and said, "We'll have to get on a ship like that someday, something that can really help us relax for a while without a care in the world; a vacation from all off this after--!" they had come to the cross roads where they needed to continue strait, but Evin was cut short in his sentence as he felt a powerful presence nearby suddenly appear. How it had gotten there so suddenly Evin had no idea, but it was close and it was watching them from a distance.

Malice radiated from it as it didn't seem to be happy to see him and Dawn, nor was the mental touch exactly wholesome as its emotions cycled through anger and hate a few times. Evin knew that it knew that he could sense it. He wasn't sure what it was yet, but he did have an unsettling guess before it mysteriously vanished from his mental radar again.

Evin shook his head and Dawn looked a little freaked before she said, "You sensed something didn't you? I got goose bumps the moment you stopped talking and felt strange. What was it?" Evin looked around, and said distractedly, "I'm not entirely sure, I only felt its' emotions with my aura power, but my psychic powers didn't seem to pick up on it. It was like... that one time, I think..." Getting angry, Evin shook his fists at the sky as he yelled, "Geez! Why does it always seem like something or someone is messing with me!"

Evin calmed down after shouting what was on his mind at the world and Dawn sighed. Piplup only gave a mild sigh as well, but then pointed ahead as he sighted something coming their way. Evin wasn't worried; with a quick check with his senses he determined that it was an officer from Violet city coming to check on the refugees from Goldenrod after getting a call last night.

But now that she had seen Evin and Dawn, she was headed towards them and stopped in front of them on her motorcycle before she announced her identity and reason for being there as she said, "I am Officer Jenny of the Seventeenth division and I am here on the request that I check on the refugees heading for Ecruteak City, do you know where they are?" Evin shrugged and said, "We went on ahead of them when they stopped at the National Park last night, as we ourselves are trying to get to Violet City before any behind us do."

The officer squinted with bemused amazement and asked, "You've both been walking in the snow all night and haven't frozen to death?" Evin rubbed his face and said, "Yeah, but we aren't exactly happy about it, as we haven't had any sleep and our feet alternate between hurting a lot and going numb every so often. We were at least outfitted well enough to keep from getting too cold so long as we kept moving."

The officer ran a quick eye over the gear they had on, and while Dawn's looked appropriate for the weather, but then she cast a critical glance at Evin's gear taking into consideration the high tech modifications as not being ordinary trainer's gear and asked, "I understand the girl's gear, but what is with yours? I've never seen such modifications to trainer's gear before and this is a time when small details can't be overlooked."

Evin was feeling reckless from how cold and tired he was and saw his opportunity to boast as he said, "I'm somewhat involved with the rangers and have some business to take care of involving Team Rocket's new base of operation at the ruins." Jenny's eyes went wide as Evin mentions Team Rocket's base, which for her and her fellow officers was a touchy subject at the moment as she almost angrily said in a scolding way, "Don't mess with me kid, is that really your purpose for being here? It's not a funny joke if that's what it is.

Too many people have been hurt for me to even let you off with a warning if this is a joke. Now I don't know your exact reasons or involvement with what is going on, but if what you say is true, why would anyone let someone your age get involved in these matters in the first place? This is a situation for adults, as the army is spearheading the problem as we speak."

"Spearheading you say?" Evin said sounding almost amused, "How do they plan on fighting time travelers I wonder? My involvement is classified, but it was only yesterday that I watched an entire forest and everything near Goldenrod die before vanishing into nothingness, but what gave away what had really happened was the burned ground that had been left in the wake of the disaster. Team Rocket has used Celebi to go back in time and most likely as an experiment they have burned an entire forest to the ground in the past to see the results it had on the present day."

Evin's involvement with Team Rocket was still somewhat in question, but with his knowledge of possibly useful information Jenny knew she couldn't afford to dawdle and came to a quick decision as she said, "Get on, the two of you! Put away that piplup and hang on tight to that egg, it's going to be a fast bumpy ride to Violet City from here!"

Evin didn't like the idea of three people on a one seat crotch rocket with barely enough room for the third person and an egg on board. He could feel the hair on his arms standing already just from thinking about it since this was the one ride he would have preferred to pass up. Jenny was impatient though, as she once again yelled, "Get on!" Evin got on behind Dawn, and in place of the usual piplup she carried, Evin had her secure the egg since his task was going to keep his own hands busy and full with just hanging on.

Jenny was slightly merciful when she first started, instead of taking off like a maniac she gave it a slow start, but once she was up to speed, faster and faster was the only speed she knew, which made Evin grit his teeth as he tried not to fall off from the bumps that nearly sent him flying. Moving at nearly seventy or eighty miles an hour on a snowy road was suicide in Evin's personal opinion, but somehow even though they should have spun out or slid off the road a few times nothing of the sort happened.

Evin's fingers were frozen solid to the back of Jenny's jacket, but all he could think about was that there was something on the tires that prevented them from having a horrendous wreck from sliding off the road one way or another. Being that they were moving so fast though, it was only minutes before Violet City came into view and once it did it was only seven more minutes before they were zooming into town and finally slowing down.

By the time the motorcycle came to a complete stop Evin felt like a terrified frozen statue. He had trouble making his hands and arms let go of Jenny and his legs were in even worse shape as the joints were completely cramped and frozen. Dawn was in better shape since she had been in the middle, but even then her legs were numb and the hand she had used to hold on to Officer Jenny was frozen like Evin's were. The egg however had been kept nice and warm which was only one of three things she was thankful for. The other two things being that they didn't wreck and were now near a warm pokemon center again.

Jenny pried the three hands that had been welded to her jacket off and then she had to make Evin try to get off the motorcycle as she kept telling him to hurry up and move his legs. The words locked up or I can't didn't even seem to register to the impatient officer, as she then all but kicked him off the vehicle. The shock of hitting the ground made Evin gasp as his legs finally painfully creaked into a straightened out position as he lay flat on the ground for a moment.

Dawn didn't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for him since it was pretty hilarious that his joints were so frozen, though she knew what he was going through since her hand and legs had just barely started to get a little bit of feeling back in them as she concentrated on rubbing the cold from them. Grabbing one of his arms Jenny started dragging Evin towards a dark blue building that had an array of equipment protruding out the top with a squad of men out front.

The men laughed a little as they watched the officer drag Evin up to them, but then stopped her at the door and asked what her business was. "This young man has some valuable information that needs to be relayed to your superiors ASAP." The men looked down at Evin who at the moment had an unhappy look on his face as he had also just begun to get some feeling back in his limbs.

One of the soldiers entered the building for a moment before coming back and saying, "Commander Valnsar will hear you out, but don't take too long to explain since they are very busy at the moment." Helping Evin onto his feet, Officer Jenny pulled him up right and escorted him in with Dawn trailing just behind them. Inside there were people on radios talking to men in the field and a desk with a holographic layout of the modified ruins where three men where devising plans and tactics around a few red dots that were the coordinates where their men were standing by.

It didn't even take Evin a moment to deduce that they were in the middle of an operation, though what he couldn't tell was just how far into it they were, or for that matter how dangerous it was. The commander turned towards them and asked Jenny what all the fuss was about with new important information before she restated what she had told the troops at the door.

The commander looked Evin over, weighing the possibility that he might actually know something worthwhile. His eyes shifted from his face to his silver hair and then down to the gear that Evin wore before he said, "What's this information that is so important that it has to reach my ears right now?" Evin had almost thought that the commander was going to recognize him by the way he had been looking him over, but after only being asked about the information he currently had he said, "Team Rocket has used Celebi to attack Johto from the past and we need to find a way to time travel or we won't be able to do anything about it."

The Commander ran a hand down his face before saying, "That's just more or less confirming what we had been expecting them to try to do. Unfortunately we currently have no means at this time to fight time travelers, as we are now at the moment trying to infiltrate their base to filch information and perhaps take back the trapped legendries themselves. Hearing that they've broken the celebi and are using its powers to create chaos saddens me greatly, but at this moment it is all irrelevant.

We were hoping that an asset would come to help us sooner than later, but as things are we had to move before the asset that professor Juniper said was coming arrived. She didn't say much on what kind of an asset she had sent, only that they would be of great use to us if we worked together." Evin knew exactly who he was talking about; the only problem at the moment was that he was tired, half frozen, and not even sure he wanted to be on the front lines of an impending war that he was sure guns would most likely be present in.

The Commander noticed how Evin's eyes had gone half lidded when he had mentioned Professor Juniper and he could see Evin mulling it over within himself as he finished talking. His suspicions confirmed, he then said, "I'm not entirely sure of your reasons for being here, but by chance, were you sent here by Juniper?"

Evin knew then that he had been found out and that there was little meaning in trying to deny the truth as he said, "I would have preferred to have been able to get at least one night's worth of sleep before charging into a fight, since my companion and I have been up all night walking in the snow. Being frozen on the back of a fast moving motorcycle was just a little extra frosting on the cake since Jenny had to push me off it after we got here."

Dawn stifled a laugh and Jenny just looked at the ceiling as if there were something else to look at as she half smiled. The Commander was less than amused and said, "Jenny, you and I are going to have to talk about the way you do things, but as for you young man, I find it hard to believe that someone of your age could be useful in the situation at hand since the whole reason that the army exists and consists of adults is to keep children such as yourself out of harm's way."

Evin shrugged and said, "Harm comes looking for me in the worst way since I'm also quite possibly the number one person at the top of Team Rocket's shit list. Call me an immortal or just a monkey with a wrench, I'm the reason they've beefed up their security." The Commander and Jenny made faces of disbelief as they looked at each other. Dawn could tell that Evin was on a roll with nearly sticking his foot in his mouth with all the risky fazes and references he was using, and as she continued listening she decided that he was without a doubt making some bad decisions because of how tired he was. Tugging on his arm she whispered to Evin, "Hey, your beginning to say too much, what happened to trying not to revile yourself to others?"

Evin couldn't help that he was feeling a little on the feisty side since he was so tired and easily irritated, but he realized she was right and that he was going a bit too far. Dawn and Evin were left standing there while the Commander took Jenny with him to make a call to the professor. Now that they were warming up again from being indoors both teens just wanted to collapse and sleep as they wobbled back and forth together for a few minutes as they waited to see what would happen.

Jenny left the headquarters without anything else to say and Commander Valnsar returned and said, "Juniper has confirmed your identity, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. The idea of a youth on the battlefield is a bad joke to say the least; even if you do have special abilities. That meaning I'd prefer to continue my operations without your assistance." Evin was actually a little relieved, but then the Commander continued, "But in the case where time travel is involved, a pokemon trainer might be a better asset than a soldier. Meaning that while we contend with what is in front of us, you should contend with the celebi problem on your own until we have retaken the ruins.

But I don't want you to get too involved. If you see that a violent situation is inevitable then I want you to report back to me and let me be the judge of how it will be handled. The Professor says that you are extremely capable, but in my eyes you are still a child." Evin would have taken that moment to say something about the stadium, but Dawn tugged on his arm to remind him not to say any more.

Evin didn't know whether to feel angry about being swept under the carpet or glad that he wasn't the one who had to face Team Rocket head on. He was too tired to make good judgment and took this moment to ask, "So if all you want me to do is solve the celebi problem, then does that mean I have time to rest up a bit before I get on it?"

The Commander gave him a serious look and said, "In all truth I really don't care what you do as long as it doesn't interfere with my agenda, because once the task in front of us is handled I intend to take over the task for the time travel problem myself. Help or don't help, I just don't want you to go looking for danger while I'm occupied."

There was no room for guessing for Evin and Dawn, since the Commander had just made a point to say that he didn't want their help at all. Evin was just fine with that now though since he liked making his own decisions anyway and said, "If you need us, you can find us in the pokemon center here in town until the end of tomorrow, by that time we will be on the move and most likely won't turn up again until we find what we are after."

The Commander cast a somewhat discussed looking scowl, but said, "Fine, just stay out of trouble. You are dismissed." Evin and Dawn quickly walked out and started down the snow-covered street towards the pokemon center before Officer Jenny stopped them and asked, "So how did it go?" Her demeanor had changed a lot in such a short time, as she wasn't as pushy or deadly serious sounding as when they had first met.

Evin shrugged again and said, "He made it clear that he doesn't want my help at all. Mostly because of my age, but that's just what he's comfortable with I guess, he's not a bad person, he's just got a lot on his mind." Jenny nodded and said, "Yeah, he's trying to only rely on his own troops for handling the problem with the fortress and has even told me and my fellow officers to butt-out and leave it to them. So don't take it personally if he treats you like a kid or tells you not to get involved.

I think what he had been expecting from Juniper was some kind of soldier or a legendary pokemon that could turn the tides of conflict quickly. But he seemed disappointed after hearing the professor say that you were the asset he'd been waiting for, and I have to say that you weren't anything like what he or I had expected."

Evin shrugged again and said, "I get that a lot. Anyway we're headed over to the pokemon center to rest up until after tomorrow, good luck with your talk with the Commander when he gets around to it." Jenny just smiled; she wasn't worried about what the Commander had to say and took off like a rocket on her motorcycle back the way she had brought them in, apparently heading back to carry out her original task from before.

Evin was both mentally and physically exhausted while Dawn wasn't in any better condition. Together they made their way over to the pokemon center. They could see Sprout Tower from where they were, but the pokemon center was on the other side of town which made it feel like a century had passed before they finally walked through the doors.

Inside was an average looking Nurse Joy with the usual hair loops, white nurse hat, and everything that went with it; she looked to be about the youngest nurse Evin had come across, but she was still a bit older than Dawn and himself. She greeted them in the usual manner and asked them if she could help them. Evin's arms and shoulders were slumped and while Dawn would have been the same, she couldn't because of the egg she still held in her hands.

Evin said that all they needed was a warm room to stay in for the rest of the day and night and even the next day since they had been up all night and were exhausted. Joy didn't doubt their exhaustion and cheerfully gave them a room that had a hot tub for weary visitors and said, "You two look like you've been on a rough journey, so since it's vacant at the moment I'm going to let you both use the deluxe relaxation room, but after that you'll have to stay in one of the regular rooms if you want to stay longer."

A deluxe relaxation room was just what the doctor ordered and both Dawn and Evin graciously thanked the nurse for her kindness. Upon feeling like they were finally going to get some rest and first class relaxation as they walked up the stairs, each step they took made it feel like their bodies were doubling in weight as even their knee joints cracked and shook. Rika stood back with some relief and then proceeded to remove her egg from Dawn's grasp before finding a nice warm place to set it. Evin was still having trouble staying awake and asked what time it was. Rika came over and pressed a button on his pokenav and showed it to him. It was only 1pm he and Dawn had only been asleep on the bed as they were for about three hours.

Turning towards her, Evin shook Dawn a little and when he saw her eyes open a little he said in a low tired voice, "hey, we should probably unpack a bit and get out of these wet cloths. We've been like this for about three hours already." Dawn tiredly sighed, but was back asleep again the next moment. Evin sighed and made himself wakeup as he shook his head. A couple of slaps to his own face helped as well as he got on his feet.

Starting with himself, he removed his pack and began unbuckling the straps to his gear. Each piece of the suit came off in uniform order and after removing the last bit he was left in only his wet under garments. Next he removed Dawn's pack, and with Rika's help peeled her out of her soggy coat and jeans. If something isn't done soon, I'm afraid something terrible will happen."

Rika's ears perked as she asked, ~Why would something terrible happen if Team Rocket doesn't leave?~ Nurse Joy looked at the counter as a trainer in the lobby came to the desk, but said, "Pokemon know as the Unknown inhabit the ruins, but then again it's not so much inhabiting them as they are a part of the ruins themselves. Strange things have been known to happen when Unknown are agitated, like in some rare cases they have been known to be able to reshape reality, often in very destructive chaotic ways when out of control... I'll be right back; I need to tend to the desk for a moment."

As she had stated, the trainer from before was trying to get her attention and looked like he was in a bit of a hurry for some reason; he didn't seem to be over excited to Rika, but all the same he didn't look like he wanted to be held up for long. Rika contemplated what Nurse Joy had told her and wondered how much Evin knew of the Unknown himself and wondered if they could help him get a message sent back to his parents. It was a blind shot in the dark, but she decided that she would at least ask since it had at one time meant the world to Evin to at least let his parents know that he was okay.

Nurse Joy brought some pokeballs back with her and said, "I've got a few people waiting for me to give their pokemon teams checkups before they leave the city. We can talk later if you like?" Rika nodded and replied, ~Speaking with you has been nice, but I think it's time that I return to my master's room since he doesn't know that I've left. Thank you for the food and the small bit you told me about the Unknown. I think my trainer might be interested in what the ruins might mean to his quest.~

Nurse Joy nodded as she said, "I'm glad you found something in what I had to say useful, but until Team Rocket is gone I implore you to make sure not to go there. Team Rocket is well known for how relentless they can be when they spot rare and unusual pokemon; so you better take care not to be out in the open too much." Rika smiled, but nodded her acceptance as she knew exactly what Joy meant.

Like this he unleashed his full speed and began smacking against her so hard that Dawn could hear the wet slaps he made with each collision, while Rika whimpered in pleased submission. Dawn knew without a doubt as she continued to watch that the noises Rika was making could only mean that she loving every second of Evin's relentless pounding as he hammered her into the bed.

It was Evin's second wind as he fucked her with all the unnatural speed he could muster while Rika huffed and groaned with every wet squish that sounded off quite loudly in the room. Then just as he felt her passage begin to contract around him he reached out fast as a snake and paralyzed her body with the hold he had learned; feeling her muscles suddenly contract all at once as her vaginal muscles locked him in place. Just as he had done this and got the full feeling of her body clamping down on his sensitive member so quickly, he let loose a groan of pure euphoria and burst inside her. Dawn took this as a great time to cut in and say, "I think it's about time for another bath. We've been extra naughty for the last hour and I'd rather not get this nice comfy bed dirty." Rika was quick to agree to another bath, but Evin was feeling tired and drained as he helped the girls up from the bed. After being helped up by Evin, Dawn slapped his bare ass on her way around him and giggled as she nakedly ran for the hot tub in the bathroom with Rika close behind.

Evin wearily watched them leave before he muttered to himself under his breath as he then followed with a look of mild worry. "Out of all the things in this world that have come close to killing me, I think these girls will succeed..."

Rika was the first to jump back into the tub and immediately began operating the controls. Within moments the tub filled with bubbles being blasted in from all sides while Dawn got in and adjusted the temperature a bit higher. Evin blushed as both girls scrutinized him as he entered the room, both girls giving him smiles of both mischief and seduction as he made his way to the side of the tub. He was too worn out for more fooling around, but that didn't stop the two girls from teasing him as they cuddled up to him from either side, Dawn being on his left and Rika on his right as he just tried to make himself relax.

A thought of the information that she had gathered from Nurse Joy crossed Rika's mind, but she decided to file it away for later since this was going to be their only time to relax for a while. She hugged Evin as did Dawn, both girls happy to just be by his side as he looked from one to the other wondering what they intended to do next. But they just stayed that way as the water became warmer and the bubble jets soothed and cleaned their skin and fur, while Evin eventually leaned back and started drifting off.

The three of them sighed when the tub reached its peak temperature and they enjoyed a long hour of soaking before eventually leaving the tub again. Hot and tired, they slowly and uneventfully dried each other before they returned to the bedroom. Dawn and Rika lay on the bed while Evin made sure the door was locked before joining them, getting situated between the two as Dawn had been earlier. There was no horse play, no remarks or looks of lust or mischief, just long drawn out yawns before each one fell asleep.

(extra writer's note) Sorry for taking so long everyone, life has been very busy this year so the story got dramatically waylaid and set aside for a long while. Part two is still in the works, but I am using every scrap of spare time I get in trying to finish this mind and reality twisting chapter.
