Delos
After Carnival, I wrote a little short story about Delos. Hopefully you enjoy a bunch of bouncy puff-dragon shenanigans. :3
Delos
We live in a universe filled with countless galaxies, near endless solar systems, and number of planets that are hard to fathom. Hundreds of thousands have been observed via orbital facilities around the Earth, and surface installations further back in history. The overwhelming majority of humanity only knows of one planet in the universe that supports life, however. Namely, the one they're currently living on. A few have found out otherwise over the years, and most of them are currently living on a second world, one filled with creatures big and well, bigger still. Theirs is a world governed by technology and science, much like that of Earth. They just have one more branch of science, namely one that dabbles in the arcane.
The time for magical creatures on Earth had long since come to an end, and minus a few hold outs, everyone lived on this great new world, with more than enough space to go around. Immigrants were generally dropped off in the sub-nation of Aeria, part of the global nation known as Wyrmlund. Several dragons ran what passed for a government, so naturally they named the place once a name became important. The planet was technically a moon, even though it was a larger body than that of the Earth.
The green and blue marble orbited a cloudy blue gas giant right in the habitable zone of the local star, some 127 light years away from Sol. The system as a whole had been observed before, several times, and the quite habitable moon had been recorded. That information was deleted soon after by several interested parties, and as far as the citizens of Earth are concerned, it is merely another solar system with no life, and no suitable planets for eventual colonization. Its location was one of the many secrets departing magical creatures took with them, on their way there to build a new home for themselves.
Thanks to a lighter core, the surface gravity was quite acceptable, and due to smaller oceans, it had a much larger land mass. In terms of overall land, it had twice the surface area of Earth. Not bad, for a population of only a few million. Needless to stay, only one continent was even settled, the rest being left open to nature. A good chunk of the population was spread out around valleys and coastal grasslands on the primary continent, an island like mass that was situated just above the equator at its lowest point. The odd bustling city full of people and high technology could be seen here and there, but there were far more small towns and villages dotting the landscape. Most communities hadn't even pushed inland any further than a few dozen kilometres, all told. There was simply no need.
One such city was called Hydra, located at the southern most part of the continent, and home to absolutely stunning beaches. Small wonder that people who liked the water wound up coming there for vacations, or occasionally to stay. One such visitor had just checked into a hotel on the beach front, overlooking a wide pedestrian road, and equipped with 10 whole floors of plus sized suites for larger than usual occupants. Which was a good thing, because the occupant in question was a Dragon.
Not only a dragon, but a rubbery looking one that was busy expanding rather rapidly, filling the room to capacity. Lamps and chairs were knocked over as the already wide fellow swelled out into a big sphere, squishing up against the ceiling, walls, and finally against the big balcony doors. The wooden slats that made up the doors began to splinter and fracture before long, ultimately exploding outward entirely under the pressurized force of expanding dragon flesh. A jet black squeaky looking belly emerged first from the hole that now led to the balcony, followed by smokey-grey hide that made up the rest of the creature. All too soon the huge belly squished up tight against the balcony railing, before squeaking up and over it, continuing to expand like mad.
As more and more of the dragon continued to grow outside the room, compared to what was left inside, the fellow finally squished out of the room entirely, with a loud popping noise. There he floated in mid air for a while, a dopey grin on his massively bloated face, and a steady stream of magic charged purple smoke pouring out of his nostrils. Already the size of a house, the dragon just kept on expanding like crazy, becoming a big semi-mobile ball of hissing and squeaking rubber. Turning around to look back at the hotel with a flick of one bloated wing, he realized he would likely have to pay for damages to the room. But that was a problem for later.
For now, it was time to have fun!
With that, he fumed out two huge jets of smoke, and suddenly expanded several times larger in the blink of an eye, becoming a big floating sphere easily the size of the whole building he just left behind. Laughing to himself, he floated over the ocean for a while, obviously quite pleased with the situation at hand. Many hundreds of people on the beach looked up as a great shadow passed overhead. Some rolled their eyes at the sight that greeted them, while others stopped to stare and address growing bulges in their trousers. The dragon was most definitely standing at attention, and more than enough trapped air had made its way to his loins, further distending the lot to lewd proportions.
As he floated entirely out over the ocean, the dragon worked a little more magic, and puffed up bigger still, before abandoning his spherical condition, for one more suited to mobility. All at once, all the air distributed itself around his frame evenly, leaving him one hundred meters tall, still quite fat looking, and incredibly well hung down south. With that, he landed in the water and set off quite a large wave heading for shore, sending various people scattering, or paddling hard to try and surf the large wave.
Arms behind his head, the huge creature floated there on his back, belly up to the warm sunlight, and laughed with his booming and rumbling voice, quite deep with his current level of bloat.
"Delos, you've done it again. And you thought you'd left show business behind all those years ago..."
Drifting on the waves, he enjoyed walking down memory lane for a while, thinking over all the fun years he'd spent running a carnival. It had indeed been quite the good use of his time, and he'd remember it all fondly for the rest of his life. His revery was broken by various loud voices down below, and he tilted his head and one large red eye down to seek out the disturbance. There were two wolves in a row boat, both wearing the arm bands indicating that they were life guards. Smirking to himself, he rolled his huge frame over onto his side, and floated there on the top of the water, head leaning on one folded arm.
"Halt! Who goes there!"
At times this is a perfectly reasonable question. This was not one of those times. As such, all the big fellow received in reply was confusion. Eventually one of the wolves elbowed the other, and the second one cleared his throat before speaking up.
"Err... We received complaints from other people on the beach, who were washed ashore rather roughly after your splash down. Would you mind watching that in the future? Nobody was hurt, but still, be careful. Most of them want you to move along... but you're not hurting anyone, so you're welcome to stay. Just please, let people know if you're going to set off a tidal wave in the future."
This seemed perfectly reasonable, so Delos merely nodded, and waved with a big smile back at the beach. Several upraised central digits greeted him in reply, which only made the big guy laugh. For magical creatures, some of them were so very mundane. He resumed paddling around for a while, then gradually grew bored of simply hanging around at sea. With a grin, he realized that what he really wanted to do was get even larger, but he'd have to go out of town first.
Some years back the local city council had asked that he not get jumbo sized within city limits, because he had a habit of stepping on people while bouncing down the street. They were never hurt, of course, but it was somewhat disconcerting being pounced on by a balloon dragon the size of a high rise apartment building. The ruling applied to anyone else who could get quite large as well, so at least they weren't just targeting him. In the end, it all suited him fine, so he made a habit of enjoying his puffy antics in the parks outside of town.
It didn't take much effort to flap his huge wings, and rise up out of the water, drip-drying as he flew overhead, likely raining on various folks down below on the beach. But most of them needed to go soak their heads anyways, so Delos considered himself a problem solver. A few lazy flaps sent him rising up over buildings, speeding along at a good clip, until he was passing over smaller houses, and ultimately empty land entirely. A rather large patch of grasslands caught his eye, and he landed with a thump on his huge paw-like feet. The city was still plainly in view behind him, but everywhere else you looked was open field, and distant forest. Grinning, he snorted out twin plumes of purple smoke once more, then began expanding all over again.
Rumbling loudly, he ran his hands over his growing belly as his whole hide grew larger by the moment, adding a new meter in all directions every second. He flicked his large tail between his legs to rub at the underside of his plus sized arousal while he expanded, being far too wide around the middle to reach that far with his arms. With many the happy dragon sound being emitted from his plump face, Delos allowed himself to balloon to over 200 meters in height, followed by 300, 400, and finally 500. Gasping, he practically fell over with orgasmic bliss from all the stretching, followed by going off like a cannon down below, making a sticky mess of a crop of trees off in the distance.
Laying there panting, and thumping his tail around, he snickered to himself, wondering why he didn't do this every day. He was always happier when huge, and the act of getting big sure was fun. He found that staying huge was just as rewarding, and he could be entertained with the most mundane of things, if he was huge during the event. Spent and quite satisfied, he curled up right there in the fields, and took a nap.

Hours later the big dragon opened his eyes once more, and rolled onto his back, smiling up at the afternoon sunny sky, and the thick white clouds spread here and there. He could just make out the huge gas giant their home was orbiting around, and rumbled up at it all. He often thought it would be nice to get that large, but he hadn't made it even close. Still, whenever he pushed his limits, he found he could get larger than before. He had no doubt in his mind that one day, he'd be able to swell bigger than this moon-like planet, and even larger than the gas giant. Hell, perhaps he'd even keep going and outgrow the sun, if not the entire solar system.
Happy thoughts, to be sure.
For the time being however, he was confined to a few kilometres before his hide started to creak ominously, and start leaking to boot. He didn't fancy exploding as a regular hobby, and stuck to just remaining big, and eventually getting even bigger still.
Snorting out twin puffs of smoke, Delos hauled himself upright again, and decided to go for a walk. The walk soon became a bit of a jog, and ultimately he was taking flight once more, like some gigantic airship with wings. Maintaining a good clip, he eventually passed over another town, and continued on, ultimately flying out over the ocean. There was a small island he'd visited from time to time, that was completely devoid of life, and nothing but sand and rock. But, it made a good stop-over when he was going for long flights, or just wanted to be gigantic and outside major population centres for a while.
As the sun began to set, he landed belly down on the small island, which was scarcely large enough to hold his whole frame. The sand was warm and dry however, and felt wonderful on his inflated hide. Cuddling up around himself once more, he idly fiddled with a few large palm trees, mere twigs in comparison to his huge bulk. An idea sprung to mind as it got completely dark, and all he could see were distant lights of a major city on the coast of the only populated continent on their world. There were two other continents that hadn't even been explored all that much, and were completely uninhabited. Well, unless you counted the odd research station. Still, maybe they would do for a little plus sized fun.
The next morning he set off again once the sun was up, and flew to the north west, aiming for what he knew was there, but had never actually visited before. It took most of the day to get there, the ocean being vast, but eventually it loomed up before him. As far as he knew, the continent was unnamed. A fairly wide swath of coastline met his gaze as he flew up on it all, revealing sandy beaches, and tropical forests. What was really interesting however, is that only a few kilometres inland, the ground rose up steadily into hills, and in some cases mountains.
Delos flew up and over the raised landscape with ease, and really took in the sights beyond it all. Thinking a break was in order, he touched his giant sized hide down on the top of a weather worn hill, and noted that inland most greenery had been reduced to small shrubs. The farther he looked inland, the more arid everything became. At the edge of his vision, it appeared that there was nothing out there but badlands, sand dunes, and the odd patch of bare rock. Apparently, the coastal hills and mountains were keeping the desert at bay.
After resting a moment, he decided to simply go for a walk, and enjoyed the sensation of his huge feet sinking into the sandy soil, despite his relatively low mass. It was warm and dry, and flat as a pancake out there in the wasteland, and he couldn't see any end to it. No doubt a survey team would fully map the place out at some point, but it was beginning to look like the only desirable territory out here was the coast. Inland was nothing but wide open spaces, perfect for what he had in mind.
Rubbing his paws together, he began to huff and puff, snorting out wavy lines of purple smoke, and once again making his rubbery body swell larger still. Rumbling and standing at attention, the huge dragon loomed larger over the badlands, stretching up to a full kilometre in height without any effort, and gradually stretching up to two. At that point, his hide began rounding out once again, belly and behind enlarging, as well as his torso and limbs. Still he pushed himself onwards, falling belly down onto a sand dune, and rumbling loudly as he bloated up into an immobile blimp of a dragon.
His limbs became fat useless nubs, sinking into his hide somewhat. His tail ballooned into a huge nub, which was constantly twitching back and forth, as he attempted to wag it around. Finally his cheeks puffed up into big spheres, and were squished against the side of his face by an expanding neck ring. As he reached a full 3 kilometres in diameter, his hide began to creak and groan ominously. Anyone there to press their hands against his sides, would find the once stretchy rubber becoming quite taut, and not yielding in the slightest. Delos was at his limit, and decided to stop.
Panting with the effort and bliss of it all, he decided to just lay there and soak in the heat, careful to not drift off entirely. Thermal expansion was likely, with his dark rubbery frame, and all the air within. He could already feel himself warming up and stretching out, but that wasn't really a bad thing. He just made sure to exhale a little air from time to time, to avoid exploding. A little heat stretching might do him good, at the end of the day.
Content with himself and his current situation, he continued to lay there belly-down in the warm sand all afternoon, and into the evening as well. When night fell it didn't get cold enough to bother him at all, so he simply slept where he was, secure and safe within his own mass.

It was days later that Delos returned to civilization, and eventually reduced in size to his normal 3 metre proportions upon entering city limits. He'd had an idea out in the desert, and wanted to see if he could make it happen. Visiting the local halls of government, he managed to meet up with some planners that were in charge of overall development of the cities and towns on their world. While sitting with them over tea, he brought up the desert filled continent and how much room it had, and made a proposition. Why not reserve the badlands for giants? They could get food and shelter anywhere along the coast, once a few things were built, but the desert would be useless for most.
If everyone that liked getting big, or was normally big and had to use magic to remain sized for cities had a new place to hang out and live large, it would likely boost their quality of life. The request as it turned out wasn't all that strange, as the powers that be did what they could to meet the needs of various citizens. Some people needed to live in watery environments, some were creatures of the air and needed high rise dwellings that were more like stacked bird nests, and so forth. The idea was taken as it was, to be drafted into something more formal, with all the little details worked out.
That done, Delos went on his merry way, content to wait and see what happened. He figured there was more shenanigans to get up to somewhere in the world. Perhaps he'd go visit his old friends from the carnival...
Years later the desert filled continent was earmarked as a giant nature reserve and park, where people of all shapes and sizes were welcome. The usual size restrictions were placed on the coast of course, so regular buildings could be set up for food processing and storage, warehousing, and the odd service building such as hotels. When the first colony broke ground, hundreds of plus sized individuals came to help and check the place out, and a certain smokey-grey rubber dragon was definitely among them. Eventually the continent became a home for tens of thousands of super sized creatures, all living and working together quite happily. Most of them stayed huge on a full time basis, and were glad to have the open space to sprawl out and expand in.
The only permanent structure that was built inland was a gigantic open bathing pool, so large that it was deemed a world wonder, and an inland sea. It was full of warm water and occasionally suds at all times, and more often than not hundreds of giant magical creatures who came to scrub off the sand or just relax with friends. Rumour had it that the plans had been thought up by some purple dragon who used to live on Earth, and was a business owner back in Aeria.
Whomever had put the thing together, it was a hit with everyone who called the continent home, or who just came for a visit every now and again. Delos still lives out there to this day, though he tends to leave every now and again to go exploring, or simply head back to Wyrmlund and visit people. Everyone always gets a laugh when he comes looming overhead, blown up bigger than the city.
It was his favourite trick to show off to everyone whom cared to look.
Life continued to go on for the citizens of their wonderful world, full of magic and delight as usual, and open to anyone who cared to come and play. Everyone hoped such would be the case for a very, very long time.
