Rose stretches out, smiling as he double-checks that his duel disk was in working order before starting to wander around. His starting point put him in the dense forested area of the island, a beautiful place really. Rose smiles, deciding to wander around a bit. He could smell and see some of the food stands mentioned, but decided to pass on them for now, just enjoying the scenery. He smiles, relaxing and leaning against a tree.

Rose: Wonder who my first opponent will be....

Eventually, Rose got his answer, as a shiny Umbreon male was walking down the pathway, wearing a blue blazer. He had a disk and D-gazer on as well, looking over to Rose.

Umbreon: Hey, you're...Rose, right?

Rose: Yeah. I think I saw you in my history class...uh...Soul, I think? Soul: Yeah. So, how're you doing so far? Rose: Just getting my bearings. No duels as of yet for me. What about you? Soul: Already won my first one.

He smiles, as he already had two Crest Pieces on his pin.

Rose: Nice. Hm....I've always wanted to know a bit more about your deck.... Soul: Heh, you're on. And since you've only got one Crest Piece, we'll do one each.

They smirk, going across from each other, activating their D-gazers and disks. A large spinner appears between them, spinning around before pointing to Soul, giving him the first move if he wished.

Soul: I think I'll go first. Rose: Go right on ahead.

Soul smiles, drawing his starting hand.

Soul: Heh, alright then. I start off with the Field Spell, Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins!

He activates the field spell, causing the area on his half of the field to become a giant ruin, a beautiful rainbow crossing the sky overhead.

Rose: Whoa, Crystal Beasts? I haven't seen those guys in years!

Soul: I'm glad you like them. I activate my Crystal Tree spell card!

A large tree appears on his field, sprouting.

Soul: I now summon Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus!

The blue winged equine flies down to the field, nickering softly.

Soul: I then use his effect! When he's summoned, I can take a Crystal Beast from my deck and place it into my Spell and Trap Zone as a Continuous Spell card! I place Crystal Beast Cobalt Eagle down!

Sapphire Pegasus' horn glows, the light hitting his deck, pulling the card out. The indigo crystal appears in his zone, as he smiles. The tree glows, a fruit sprouting.

Rose: Hm? What's going on with that tree? Soul: Whenever a Crystal Beast is played into my spell and trap zone, my tree gets a fruit! I place a card face down, ending my turn! Rose: My turn, draw!

Rose draws his card, Soul smiling.

Soul: I tend to research all my opponents before dueling....I must say, your Ojamas are truly an interesting deck...as are those Dark Magicians. Rose: Impressive....however, I'm not using either of those decks. Soul: Excuse me? Rose: I made a brand new deck just for this tournament. I summon Baby Raccoon Ponpoko!

Rose plays the card, an adorable orange raccoon appearing, holding a small taiko drum.

Soul: This...wasn't in my findings. Rose: Heh, I hope you're ready for something special. I use Ponpoko's effect, allowing me to set a level 2 or lower Beast-type monster from my deck to my field. I choose Baby Raccoon Tantan!

The raccoon whistles, as the card flies out of Rose's deck, setting itself.

Rose: I set two cards and end my turn.

Soul: My turn! I summon Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger!

The large white tiger pounces into battle, growling.

Soul: I then activate my facedown card, Night Beam! Rose: Night Beam? Not sure about that card... Soul: I can target a face-down card on the field, and destroy it. Not only that, but nothing can be chained to it. I destroy the card on the left!

Rose grunts, as his Waboku card is destroyed.

Rose: Damn it.... Soul: Nice. Topaz Tiger, attack Ponpoko!

Topaz pounces, Soul smiling.

Soul: And when Topaz attacks a monster, it gains 400 attack points, going up to 2000!

It slashes, Ponpoko squealing as it shatters, Rose's Life Points going down to 6800

Soul: Sapphire Pegasus, attack his facedown Tantan!

Sapphire flies up, firing its beam and destroying the facedown monster, the portly raccoon screeching as it's destroyed.

Rose: I activate Tantan's Flip effect! I can special summon a level 2 Beast-type monster from my deck! I summon Kalantosa, Mystical Beast of the Forest in defense mode!

Before it's destroyed, Tantan pounds his large taiko, the little hedgehog appearing on the field as Tantan falls.

Rose: And now for Kalantosa's effect! When he's summoned by a Beast-type monster's effect, I can destroy a card on the field! I target Topaz Tiger!

The hedgehog rolls up, charging forward and slamming into Topaz, the tiger roaring as it's destroyed. However, rather than the graveyard, a yellow crystal appears in the spell and trap zone, another fruit sprouting on the Crystal Tree

Rose: I know how your beasts work. When they're destroyed, you can put them in your spell and trap zone instead as a Continuous Spell.

Soul: Bingo. And with that, I'm done.

Rose: My turn, let's go! I summon Valerifawn, Mystical Beast of the Forest!

A little deer appears on the field, Rose smirking.

Rose: I use her effect! By discarding a card from my hand, I can special summon a beast-type monster from my graveyard in face-up attack or face-down defense position! I discard Key Mouse to summon Tantan back out from my graveyard!

The Deer glows, as the raccoon is resurrected.

Rose: I now overlay my two monsters together, allowing me to Xyz summon a Rank 2 monster!

The two monsters become orange orbs of light, flying up as a portal opens up on the ground.

Rose: I now construct the Overlay Network! I Xyz summon Gachi Gachi Gantetsu!

The two monsters fly into the portal, as a large rock beast appears on the field in defense mode.

Rose: Now his effect kicks in, allowing me to increase the attack and defense of all monsters on my field by 200 for each Overlay Material on it. And with two, his defense jumps to 2200!

Soul: Not bad. Rose: Thanks. I'm done. Soul: My go. I now use my Crystal Tree's effect! By sending it to the graveyard, I can place a Crystal Beast from my deck onto the field in my spell and trap zone for each fruit on the tree. I now place Emerald Tortoise and Ruby Carbuncle!

The tree's fruits break off as the tree withers, planting into the ground. They sprout, a red ruby and a green emerald appearing.

Soul: And with that, I have four crystals in my spell and trap zone. I use Rainbow Ruins' effect, letting me draw a card! I then follow up with my Rare Value spell card! Now, you choose one of the crystals in my spell and trap zone and send it to the graveyard. After that, I draw two card. Rose: I send Ruby Carbuncle.

The crystal shatters, the red powder infusing into Soul's deck as he draws two cards.

Soul: Now I summon Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat!

The pink feline appears, roaring.

Soul: Time for the showstopper. I now send Emerald Tortoise, Topaz Tiger, and Cobalt Eagle to the graveyard!

The three crystal start to shake, cracking as a wind starts to blow, growing into a howling gale.

Rose: What's going on?! Soul: I now summon, my ultimate beast! Come forth, HAMON! LORD OF STRIKING THUNDER!

The giant yellow beast descends from the heavens, roaring as its 4000 attack points were off the charts.

Rose: No way...one of the Three Sacred Beasts..... Soul: And the weapon of your defeat. But first, I use Mystical Space Typhoon in my hand to destroy your face down card!

The winds blow, as Rose's Breakthrough Skill shatters.

Soul: Time to go on the attack. First off, Sapphire Pegasus, attack Gachi!

Sapphire Pegasus whinnies, a beam charging on its horn.

Rose: I use Gachi's effect! By detaching an Xyz material from it, I can prevent it from being destroyed by battle!

The orb of light orbiting the rock monster goes into it, as its rocky shell becomes hardened carbon. The beam bounces off of it, as Gachi's defenses lowers to 2000.

Soul: Amethyst Cat, attack Rose directly!

Amethyst's attack is halved for this attack, as she pounces over Rose's monsters, clawing at him and brining him to 6200 Life Points.

Soul: Hamon, bring your judgment down on Kalantosa!

Hamon roars as vicious lightning is blasted down, striking the little forest creature.

Soul: And when Hamon destroys a monster by battle, you take 1000 points of damage!

The lightning arcs to Rose, as he yells out, his points dropping to 5200.

Soul: I set one card facedown and end my turn. Rose: Wow....very impressive...I never really thought of using Hamon in a deck like that.

Rose gets up, drawing his card.

Rose: Tch.....I set a card facedown, as well as a monster. That ends my turn....

Soul: My turn. Let's get things started already. I summon another Topaz Tiger! Amethyst Cat, attack directly again!

She pounces, Rose grunting as he drops to 4600.

Soul: Pegasus, strike his facedown monster!

The monster flips, revealing itself to be Key Mouse.

Rose: Key Mouse's effect activates. When it's destroyed and sent to the graveyard, I can add a level 3 or lower Beast to my hand. I add Valerifawn.

Soul: Topaz, attack Gachi!

The tiger attacks, but Rose saves it again, it's defense dropping back to 1800 with no materials left.

Soul: Hamon, shatter that boulder!

Hamon strikes it down, it's effect activating again, forcing Rose to take another 1000 damage.

Soul: You're running out of options, Rosie. Rose: Heh...never give up until your life points hit zero...it's a little thing Mom always told me....I draw!

Rose draws his card, smirking.

Rose: Time for the turnabout... Soul: Excuse me? Rose: I summon my Valerifawn to the field! Then I use her effect! I discard a card from my hand to summon a Level 2 or lower beast from my grave! Kalantosa, return!

Valerifawn glows, Kalantosa coming back.

Soul: Tch...now you're probably gonna destroy Hamon.... Rose: Not exactly. Kalantosa, destroy Sapphire Pegasus! Soul: W-What?

Kalantosa screeches, blasting Sapphire Pegasus as it becomes a crystal.

Soul: Why...

Rose: It's time for me to show the true power of my deck. I now overly my monster!

The two monsters fly into the air, going into the vortex.

Soul: It's just gonna be another Gachi.... Rose: Not quite...alright, buddy, time to come on out! I Xyz Summon Number 64: Ronin Raccoon Sandayu!

The ninja raccoon appears from the vortex in defense mode, 1000 points to his name.

Soul: He doesn't seem to scary...more cute, really. Rose: It's not him that's scary...it's his effect! By detaching a material from him, I can summon out a Kagemusha Token!

Sandayu starts to make ninja hand signs, a material orb floating into the doll that was with him. It starts to morph, changing.

Rose: When the token is summoned its attack strength is equal to the monster with the highest attack on the field. Soul: B-But that means... Rose: That's right, my Kagemusha Token now has 4000 attack points, courtesy of Hamon!

The token grows to match the size of Hamon, roaring as it now boasted strength to match the god.

Soul: But now they'll just kill each other!

Rose: I wouldn't be so sure about that....I use my last card! Go, Field Spell, Closed Forest!

The forest pops up all around Rose's half of the field, Rose smirking.

Soul: So, what's that gonna do? Rose: You see, my beasts just love to play and have fun here. So much so that while they fight within here, they become stronger. How much stronger? They get 100 extra attack points for every monster in my graveyard! And thanks to your generous donations, I now have 8!

The token roars as it gets even stronger, now 4800 points strong.

Soul: That's...impossible... Rose: Kagemusha Token, attack Hamon now!

The token inhales, breathing a massive fire blast, incinerating Hamon into nothing, as Soul goes down to 7200 points.

Rose: That's all from me. Soul: Not bad....my move!

He draws, scowling.

Soul: I switch both my monsters into defense mode, setting two cards and ending my turn.

Rose: I'm up! I draw!

Rose draws, chuckling.

Rose: I now use Sandayu's effect once more! I detach an Xyz material to summon a second token! And this one copies my token!

As Rose adds another material to the grave, the first token becomes 4900 points strong. The second one appears, copying the first one. After that, the bonus from the field spell adds onto it, bringing it to 5800.

Rose: I then summon Baby Raccoon Ponpoko from my hand! I use his effect, setting Tantan!

The raccoon pops out again, now 1700 attack points, and setting his friend.

Rose: I switch Sandayu into attack mode, and let's finish this! Sandayu, Ponpoko, attack his monsters!

Soul grunts as his crystals shatter, going into his spell and trap zone.

Rose: First token, attack!

However, Soul chuckles.

Soul: I use my facedown card, go, Draining Shield! Rose: N-Not that!

The attack is absorbed, as Soul's life points jump all the way up to 12100.

Rose: Tch...second token, attack!

Soul: My field spell activates, allowing me to half the damage I take once per turn!

Soul grunts, as he drops down to 9200

Rose: Even with all that, you're still up on points...

Soul draws for his turn, smirking.

Soul: I use my spell card, DARK HOLE! This destroys all monsters on the field!

Rose: Not that!

The giant hole appears, sucking everything in...well, almost everything, as Sandayu somehow survives.

Soul: But how?! Rose: Sandayu's final effect! As long as I control a Beast monster, he can't be destroyed by battle or card effect! And when Dark Hole was played, I had more than enough firepower! Not only that, but you're just adding more power into the forest!

Sandayu roars as there are now 11 monsters to boost him all the way to 2100.

Soul: I summon my Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth now!

The mammoth appears, Soul chuckling wildly.

Rose: What's so funny...? Soul: It's time for me to summon an even greater creature! Because I now have all seven crystal beasts on my field or in my graveyard, I can special summon my Rainbow Dragon!

The dragon appears, roaring. Rose stumbles back a bit in shock, panting.

Soul: That's all from me. Rose: My move...

Rose draws, growling a bit.

Rose: Sandayu goes into defense mode. That's all

Soul: Time to finish this, draw!

He draws his card, smirking.

Soul: Let's do this, I use Rainbow Dragon's effect! I send the four Crystal Beasts on my field to my graveyard! That lets me add 1000 attack points to my dragon for each, for a total of 8000 attack!

The four gems on it glow, corresponding to the ones sacrificed.

Soul: I then use an equip card, Fairy Meteor Crush! This allows my monster to inflict piercing damage! Rose: No way! Soul: Rainbow Dragon, attack!

Rainbow Dragon roars, firing its massive beam...but Rose chuckles.

Rose: ...did you forget about my face down, Soul? Soul: ....kind of, damn it! Rose: Trap card, activate! Go, Magic Cylinder! Soul: NO!

The massive blast is redirected, going back and dealing damage back to Soul equal to his dragons' attack, meaning he drops like a rock, all the way down to 1200.

Soul: Damn it...how could I not think of that...? Rose: My move.....I have one turn to turn things around!

Rose draws...then smirks.

Rose: Let's do this, guys! I use my spell card, Ayers Rock Sunrise!

The whole area around them becomes a gorgeous red clay plateau, a beautiful sunrise in the distance.

Soul: It's gorgeous.... Rose: It gets better. First, I get to summon a Beast monster from my graveyard. Come back, Valerifawn!

The raccoon pops back, Rose smirking as Sandayu drops to 2000, Valerifawn at 1400.

Soul: Neither of them are strong enough... Rose: That is until my second effect. Now, for every Beast, Winged Beast, and Plant monster in my graveyard, your monster loses 200 attack points! And I count 9!

The spirits of the monster all surround Rainbow Dragon, lowering its strength to 6800.

Soul: No way..... Rose: Yes, way. I now use Valerifawn's effect! I summon Kalantosa from my grave by sending Key Mouse! I then use Kalantosa's effect, destroying your face-down card!

The monster is revived, destroying Soul's Mirror Force.

Rose: I overlay Kalantosa and Valerifawn, to Xyz summon another Sandayu!

Another ninja appears, Rose smirking.

Rose: I use his effect again, summoning another token, copying your Rainbow Dragon!

The token appears huge again, and with 11 monsters in the graveyard, it now has 7900 attack.

Rose: Kagemusha Token, destroy Rainbow Dragon!

The token blasts Rainbow Dragon, shattering it.

Rose: Sandayu duo, finish him off!

The two ninja raccoon attack together, Soul groaning as he's blasted back, his points dropping to 0. The area around them resets, Rose going to help him up. Soul gladly takes his hand, chuckling.

Soul: Man, that deck's insane. Mind if I come over and take a look at it sometime? Rose: As long as we get to duel afterwards. Soul: Deal! Here's your Crest Piece. You earned it.

Soul hands it to Rose, who pins it onto his Star Crest.

Soul: Best of luck, Rose. Rose: Same to you, Soul.

The two head off, Rose smiling as he goes to get something to eat afterwards, wondering how the others were doing so far.
