Going Camping part 1: The Visitor
Commission 1/3 for an FE client
The road seemed endless; he had no idea that getting to that retreat would take so long and yet, there he was, on the road again, hoping that he would make it in time. He could see the wilderness surrounding, knowing it was a sign that he was getting closer to his actual goal, but before reaching it, he knew that the distance was still great; he couldn't fool himself into believing that it would be that easy...
Who could have believed that he wanted to go to Camp Feral? He had been to other conventions, but this one was different; in the middle of nature, it was a whole new experience, one that promised excitement and memories that wouldn't go away that easily. After all, to be with other people, to have fun with people that shared a common interest while seeing new environments was a dream in itself, wasn't it?
For Norin, it was a trip like any other, even if the distance was greater than usual; what could be different in this convention than in any other conventions? Sure, it was outside, but that was the only difference he could think about; it's not like he would camp in the wilderness, after all or something like that.
Although he would make it in time, he wondered why he decided to leave so early in the morning instead of arriving on Thursday. If he would have left earlier, he wouldn't have been rushing in the wee hours of the morning, but it was a mistake that he had to deal with, even if it wouldn't change the experience, in the end.
It was still dark outside, thought; was he heading in the right direction, or was he taking the wrong turn? There was no way to know, for he had no system of direction in his vehicle; he could have invested in a GPS, but it would have meant cutting back on something else, a form of math he refused to do.
Driving on the road, he looked at a map for a moment, when a shadowy figure passed in front of the car, nearly ran over, forcing him to stop in his tracks. He didn't want to run over someone intoxicated or a savage animal, for it could taint his experience of this whole new trip.
He didn't want to have the death of an animal or the paralysis of someone on his conscience, not when he wanted to be in high spirit. There was so much he wanted to do anyway today; it was better for him to focus on the positives aspects then this near death experience, even if it could haunt a bit later on...
There was a strange stench in the air; he had the impression that it caused by a skunk, but he knew that it was nonsense. This sort of smell would only have been produced by a spray and since nothing of the sort happened, he knew that it was just his mind playing tricks on him; perhaps he needed a cup of coffee to wake up, so he could stop imagining elements that didn't make sense.
Even if he was a wolf and could enjoy spending some time outside, to be one with nature, to howl at the moon and other things, this wasn't the time for that.
If he had more time, he would try to investigate the source of this mystery, but for the moment he had to reach the camp before the activities would begin. It would be a shame that he would miss some of them because he took some time to wander in the forest for no good reason and got lost, when he could have focused on the road ahead and accomplished his objective in time.
Shaking his head, he looked at the road and pressed on the accelerator, hoping to gain back some lost time, although he knew that it could be a lost cause, for there was no point in risking in life for such a small cause. There were bigger fishes to fry and he had to clear his mind, so he could remember the day without anything encumbering it...
After what seemed an eternity, he reached the camping site of Feral; he knew it would be quite the sight, but this beyond what he expected. He could see the luxous cabins and well taken care of roads, a sign that this wasn't a simple camping site, but an experience for those that possessed the means and the money to get there in the first place.
Before going to his cabin, he had to make sure that he was registered, even though it was quite early in the morning. There was a chance that nothing was open yet, but he had to try it, so it wouldn't be a waste of his time. It's not like there were a lot of things to do around to around here anyway; he could always sleep in the car, but that wasn't an activity he was looking forward to...
However, he was lucky, as he saw that the cabin serving the purpose of registration was open; perhaps the people that ran it were early birds, or it was just part of the services. Either way, he couldn't complain about it; it was there went he needed it, even if he never thought that it would be present in the first place.
``Oh, you are quite early; we aren't really open yet, but since you are here, I'll proceed you. Just give me a moment to get the computer and the papers and I'll get your form filled up'' said the staff member, as he ruffled around, setting up an improvised work station, letting him wait around. At least, he didn't have to turn back and wait some more...
After a few minutes of waiting, the clerk waved toward him, for the installation was now done. ``Don't worry, I'll take a minute to check your identity... But before I do so, I have to tell you to be careful; so some of strange beast has been spotted around the camp site and we don't want anyone to be hurt by it. So don't go in the woods to try to hunt it down, for we will not hold responsibility if you do'' said the staff member, as he handed the proper badge and introduction package, while returning his attention to his computer.
A beast? Could it be that one that he saw not so long ago, on the road this camp? If it was the case, then he had to be careful, although he was careful about it; there was something attractive about it, but he couldn't put a finger on it. But for the moment, he had activities to attend, so it wasn't the time to think about such a thing...
It was an exhausting day; he couldn't believe all the activities he participated in, but this was just the first day; there was more that was bound to happen on the other days, but for it to happen, he had to get some rest first.
The cabin was small, but welcoming, a sight he would enjoy for the upcoming days; however, he could swear that there was a strange smell around it, reminding of that dreaded morning. It was possibly a coincidence...
But when he heard footsteps near the window, he knew that something, or someone was roaming near his room, waiting for him to get sleep. It was probably just a wild animal, taking a path near the cabin before going back to the woods, so he had nothing to worry about.
Or that's he believed, until he heard banging on the door; who could be trying to talk to him at such an hour? Whatever was the subject, it was better to be good, he thought, as he opened the door, only to see nothing behind the door.
As he was about to close the door, as blast of gas assaulted him; the odor was the same as he smell in the early morning, but it was richer, stronger and earthy. There was something irristible to it, as if he needed to smell more of it, although he had no clue what produced it in the first place.
In the opening in the door, he saw a skunk, but it seemed taller than usual; could it be the one that was cause if this peculiar odor? Why did it blast him with a spray, when he didn't do anything to him?
``Oh, you will quite the new recruit, but for now, I have plans for now; let's see if you will be able to handle me'' said the skunk, as it entered the cabin, visibly aroused. He wanted to gasp at the size of the member that was presented to him, but he knew what was going to happen; there was no need for words for supplications or demands, when he could the desire to give himself to the beast rise in him. After all, what could happen?
