Starting the Hive part 1
Every story has a beginning. To most people, their story begins when they were born. My life began in a cave, where I was conceived from my queen's egg sack. I did not have the chance to meet her face to face, because not long after my birth, I was taken. In a large, metal ship I, and six of my brothers and sisters, were transported to another place. This new land was far away from my queen, and I felt sad to leave her.
After my siblings and I arrived here, we were taken to the Testing Room, or so I heard the humans say. It might seem strange for me to understand another species, but it's actually quite simple. Every one of us is naturaly gifted to understand any word that our queen had learned. My queen must have been through a lot, because I seem to pick up almost every word the humans are saying, When we arrived in the Testing Room, we were arranged on a large, flat, surface, and I heard more humans being brought in. These humans sounded different. Instead of a deep, rough voice, they had younger, more high-pitched voices. I heard the humans struggle and the sound of chains rattling. Soon, everything went quiet, except for the occasional whimper of a human. Then, in a swift motion, the contents of my egg were draining away, and I felt like I was rising. All of a sudden, I see a bright light shine above me as the flaps at the top of the egg began to open. I didn't have time to worry about the lights, because I soon realized what I had to do. I looked to my left, and next to the table I was placed on sat seven, human younglings. I found one closest to me and began to crawl towards it. It was bigger than the other young humans, and had a very pale face. It was dressed in some sort of brown substance, and it had water dropping from its eyes. I was just four foot its head, and decided to jump the rest of the way. I jumped forward, all eight legs outstretched, and grappled hold of its face. My tail wrapped twice around its skinny neck as I shot a small tongue into its mouth. I felt the human fall to the floor, while continued clinging to its face...
...Four hours later...
It has been just a short time since my other self had sent me into the human's body. My other body died in the process, a noble sacrifice, and I felt the human sitting upright. I do not know if my siblings had done the same to the other humans, but I take the guess that they have. My new body floats aimlessly in the human's stomach. While inside the creature, I get feelings of power and leadership. I feel as though I am different from my siblings. My body has been slowly eating away at the human's chest cavity, when suddenly, I feel the human fall to the ground. I must be getting close to breaking free, because the human tissue is getting weaker and weaker. In no time at all, my teeth guide me up through the human's chest, and I break out of the skin and bones, screaming out for everyone to hear. I body is covered in the human's blood as it twitches on the ground and then stops moving altogether. I am nothing more than a black, blood stained, worm. I leap from the human and scan the room around me. To my surprise, there is a massive whole in the side of the room and I am alone.
I search the whole room, and no one is here except me and the now dead body from which I erupted from. Suddenly, I hear a chain of loud explosions and feel the force of one close by as the grey, metal door is blown from its hinges. I take this as my escape and slither out of the room into a smoke-filled hallway. The white hallway is lined with ash, debris, and bits and pieces of human bodies. To be honest, I didn't really care what had happened to the building. What I cared about was getting the heck out of there and finding a good place to rest. I search the maze of hallways for about thirty minutes, often hearing explosions, until I find a tightly sealed exit door. At least, it probably was tightly sealed, but nothing remains now except a pile of twisted metal and more bodies. I quickly slither out of the doorway and into a vast, barren, wasteland. Looking around, I find that the human's building was built in front of a huge mountain. From the light of flames, I am able to find a dark cave on the side of the mountain. The cave doesn't go far into the mountain, and I soon find a small hole, in which, I slither into and go to sleep curled up.
I did not know I could growso fast. Just a bit ago, I fell asleep in a hole more than twice my size, and now, I hit my head on the top of it. I crawl out of my hole and search for food. (I got to eat right?) I decide to go back to the wreckage of the human building. On my way out of the cave, I find a small pool of water. There is enough light in the cave that I see my reflection perfectly. No longer am I a small worm. Now, I have two arms and two legs, a long tail, and a long eyeless head with spikes on the back. My body is covered in a smooth black from spiked head to clawed toe. I also have a second mouth inside my main one. I stop gazing at myself, and remember my mission: Find Food. "Find Food" is what I think to myself repeatedly as I make my way to the door from which I had left earlier. The building is almost completely silent, except for the sound of a few small fires still trying to survive. "Find Food Find Food". I keep telling myself. I eventually find the room with my dead human host. "Can I eat the human?" I say to myself stooping over it. I finally agree to keep searching the building and come back later to bring the dead human to the cave to eat later.
I have scampered through two more levels of the building. I found nothing but empty rooms and small fires. I reach the top floor of the building, tail poised just above my head in case of attack, and begin searching everywhere. To my luck, I have found a few dead humans, and some meat that the humans stored in a vault. I find a strange room. It is covered in human engineering and screens. I also find the remains of the eggs my siblings were in. "What happened here?" I decide to try pressing one of the many buttons on a table. I hear a sort of buzzing noise, and then the lights go away. Suddenly, a large screen lights up in front of the room, and I see pictures and video as a human speaks in a strange robotic tone. I did not understand all of what it said, but with pictures, I heard it as this:
"Emergency Override message. File A100_B8 Delta launch"
I then hear another human speak. This one spoke normally, but at a faster pace than other humans I have heard.
"If you are hearing this message, than the tech lab must have already been breached. 20 years ago, the Weyland company built a research station on planet LV-239, a small planet in the shadow of gas giant TI-194. This planet was the only one in the system that had an atmosphere and resources similar to Earth's. Scientists have discovered water, trees, dirt, and creature that look like Earth's cows. After 5 years of peaceful living, scientists have discovered a small moon floating close to TI-194. The moon appeared barren, until 15 years later, when a huge network of caves was discovered above the moon's center. There were also unique creatures living in these caves. After several attacks by the creatures, now called Xenomorphs, it was agreed to bring 7 of the creatures' eggs up to LV-239 for studying. When it was found that the Xenomorphs reproduced via other lifeforms as host, the Weyland company decided to take child volunteers and use them as host bodies for the newly captured eggs. All tests were successful until it was found that 1 of the eggs bore a queen embryo. Immediately, all the others subjects were removed from the testing room while the queen was developing...subjects were delivered...killed others...evacuation...subjects terminated..."
The screen flickered and became dark and the human voice ended. From what I understood, my siblings had escaped their hosts and were killing humans, but they were killed themselves. The other humans left. I now know what happened, but one thing remains on my mind. I am a queen. I think about what it means: I am in charge of starting a hive, producing eggs, and finding food for my children.
I pull the human bodies back to my cave as I wonder Where am I'm going to find hosts for my children? The other humans left. Then I remember the screen. The human voice said that there were animals on this planet. I could use them as hosts. After I eat some of the humans, which were quite tasty, I found a new resting place. One that could fit me.
