This is actually part of a back story for Orion.

What is a dragon? Some may say it's a magical reptilian creature capable of breathing fire. Some say it's a big reptilian creature that sits in a cave guarding millions of pounds of gold and silver. Whichever you see it as, lets put it this way, those are stereotypes that were told in many fairy tales in various different cultures around the world, each culture having a slightly different story. There are cultures that believe dragons to be good, and some to be evil. Believe it or not, I possess neither one of those, but one trait, and that is good. Well, at least I try to be. My name is Orion, dragon of light and nature. Not to be confused with the elemental dragons, however, I do possess a certain power, and that is for healing and to use for attacks. I'll explain more of that later, but for now, I want to talk about how I came to be who I am, and how I became a good dragon, instead of those typical village-burning beasts.

When I was born, I knew my parents from the start. I didn't remember much at that time. Of course nobody remembers much from that time, but I do remember seeing my mother and father. They loved me, and cared for me, and did everything they could to get what I needed as a hatchling. I got food, water, and some kind of entertainment. Sometimes even a small rock was enough to keep me busy. My mom was there most of the time though. Sometimes my mom would come over while I am playing with a ball of cotton and nuzzle my side and give me a lick, while my dad was gone most of the time out of the cave. I wasn't really sure why he was gone for such a length of the day. Maybe he was looking for food for us. That seems pretty rational, but for me as little one, I didn't think much of it. All I really cared for is when my mom and dad will be here for me.

When I got older, I began to learn how to fly when my wings got bigger. It was the greatest feeling ever. Like a bird in the sky, free as the wind, but my parents restricted me to not go too far. I figured it was a way for them to keep an eye on me. I nodded and obeyed them every time, until one day I noticed something one morning just beyond the mountain just ahead from the view point from our cave. Of course with me still being a young dragon, I was curious as a feline in the wilderness. I couldn't quite make out what it was that I saw, but it was most likely something that could just brush it off and say "whatever". When my parents were gone for the day, the next day after the night I noticed whatever that was in the distance, I actually sneaked out of the cave. I flew towards the mountain to find out what it was I saw. It was getting closer as the mountain came closer as I was flying. When I got past the mountain, I can see lights down below. Really pretty lights. So I shoot myself down further, and I saw more clearly they were square structures that came up to a wedge on top. Each structure having a different style, but most of them came up to a pointed wedge. It was a marvelous sight, as I never have seen anything like that before. Then as I got down further, I can see to what seems to be humans. So this is what human civilization looks like. I knew my parents talked to me about humans, but they told me that we are to destroy their homes with fire, but there was a certain sense inside me that was more curious than wanting to burn down their village. I found a wide open field where it seems to be from my eyes, a little human, a young human running in a field. I hovered right over him, flapping my wings, not really doing anything at the moment as I knew I would be scaring him, and I didn't want to do that, especially since my parents say that us dragons were known to burn down their villages. Instead, I landed at the end of the field where the tall grass started and where the woods. I wanted to meet this young human just to see if my parents were all right after all. I crawl normally, trotting across the tall grass, feeling the soft grains rub against my side. It actually tickled, and I tried not to laugh real hard. I mean, I giggled a little bit, but still not real loud, just soft and breathy. I continued trotting over to where it lead me to an open area, where the tall grass seemed to have been chopped down. Coincidentally, the young human whom I saw from the sky, appeared inside the empty area where I was. We were only about fifty feet from each other. It took him about five seconds to notice that I was there. He looked at me and fell to the ground in shock. He yelled, kicking his feet across the ground, shoving dirt past him with his feet like he is trying to get up, but is too shocked to do so. I trotted closer to him. "Hey there, don't be frightened. I mean you no harm." I calmly said. His height was about up to my shoulders when I was on my fours. I was trying my best to keep him calm. It worked somewhat. He stopped kicking but still had a feeling of shock in his face. He got up on his feet finally and looked at me. Then that's when I noticed something odd. He stood up, but the way my mom described humans, they had hands. This one did not. He still had half of his arms, but that was about it. "But you're a dragon, and you can talk." He replied. "Yes, I am. But I don't wish to harm you." He calmed down more. "If I was gonna harm you, I would have did it whenever I saw you, but I don't really eat meat anyways." I then tilt my head a little and focus on his arms. "Are you humans supposed to...you know...not have hands?"

"What, you're gonna make fun of my arms? Like everyone else does?"

"No, no, no! I'm just curious." He then sighed and turned his head to the ground like he was ashamed to tell. "I was...born without arms." "Oh ok." I nodded.

"Look you're a dragon. You're supposed to be burning down our towns and eating us for breakfast." "I have told you before, I repeat, I am _not_gonna hurt you." I was being a little more firm that time. I felt sorry for him though. Not just because he had no arms, but it was like he was brainwashed to think that all dragons were mean, evil beasts, when they are not. After I told him many times that I wasn't gonna hurt him, he then gulped a little, and then held up his half of his arm and tried to reach out so he can touch me. "Are you sure you're not gonna hurt me?" He asked. I nodded back in a 'yes'. He then came up closer to me, and I walked closer when he was just a foot away from me, and I assisted him by taking my head and putting it under his half arm. As soon as he touched my head, he started to pet it a little. He retracted his arm gently off of my head.

"That is cool." He then chuckled a little.

"You see? I told you I meant you no harm." I smiled. He smiled back.

"My name is Jake." He said. "What's yours?" "My name is Orion."

"Jake!" A voice from the distance was heard, and Jake turned his head towards the structure. He turned to face me again. "I have to go now." He said. I figured it was his parents as well calling him.

"We shall meet again?" I asked him. He smiled and nodded his head up and down, meaning it was a 'yes'. I smiled and spread my wings and started flapping up in the air. I flew back in a more stylish manner. Flipping myself, going in circles, shooting straight down to the ground and suddenly shooting back up. "Wahh!" I make all kinds of noises like that all the way until I got back to the cave. I landed back on the cave surface, and thankfully my parents weren't there yet. They came back about an hour after I got back. My dad holding a dead deer between his head and his horns, while my mother held a bunch of random fruits in her front paws and sets them out on the surface on the cave opening. "I have dinner!" My mom was actually referring to me when she said that. I come up to the deer and the fruits, looked at the pile, and then took an orange and went back to eat in my own little corner. "Hey, you're not going away unless you eat some meat." My mom yelled at me. I dropped the orange out of my mouth.

"But I don't like meat."

"What are you? Some kind of pussy vegan dragon?" My dad jumped in on the argument, and he took his mouth, tore off a leg from the deer and threw it over at me. "Here, take the damn leg and eat it." My dad was getting pretty mean. It changed so much since I was younger. I was loved, fed good, had entertainment. Wasn't much, but I was happy. Now for some reason, it all looked like they didn't want me around anymore. I mean, I can see they want me to have some protein, but I just had no taste in meat. To me, it tastes awful. Besides, why would I want to kill an innocent animal, just skipping in the woods striving to survive, minding it's own business? To me, it sounded mean. So I just stared at it for a little bit and said "no", and took off with the orange instead, and went into a corner. "Orion, you get back here now." My dad yelled. "No!" I yelled back. "Don't make me shove it your mouth." I walked away, took the orange in my mouth, and ran into another part of the cave, but he just reached his paw over and slammed his paw on the ground capturing my tail within it. I tried to struggle to get out of his grip, but just ended up scraping my feet across the rock surface. He took his paw and grabbed my tail and lifted me up by my tail and flipped me upside down on the rock surface. I realized he was gonna force feed me. "No!" I yelled. "Let me go!" I tried squirming around, kicking my feet at him, but he took his other paw and held my hind feet to the ground.

"What should I do, Honey?." My mom asked my dad, tapping him on the tail with her paw.

"Dear, get me that deer leg." My dad said, and then my mom sighed, and then she took that leg and pushed it over to to him with her muzzle. My dad took the leg with his paw, and tried to push it in my mouth, but I kept turning my head. It was constant refusal, until he found a log nearby and picked me up and jammed my horns into the log so I wouldn't move. I cried and yelled because it really hurt, especially the reaction of my neck. It really really hurt. Almost like my spine was broken. I couldn't move my head anymore out of the log. "Now you're going to eat it." With that, my dad could easily open up my mouth and shove the leg in my mouth. That awful taste of flesh and muscle came in my mouth once more. I tried not to chew it due to it making me sick in my stomach. I made all kinds of nasty looking faces. "That wasn't so bad, now was it?" My dad said, then walked away leaving me here with my horns still stuck to the log and went to his side of the cave. My mom went in with him. After they left, I tried to take my front paws and push up against the log, but I couldn't budge it. I spat out the leg onto the ground. At the moment, I could give a care less of that leg, I just wanted to get out of this log. I then try using my hind legs to push up against the log, and it actually worked, but when I got out, my neck really hurt and I could barely even lift my neck up. I thought to myself if this was really what a parent would do. Force feed them food they don't want to the point of hurting them. I was hurt, and I could barely even sleep that night. I might have gotten like two hours of sleep. However, what I did was I got up and pushed my neck up against an edge of a rock, and for about 10 pushes, I could hear a crack. I felt so much better now, but I guess they really did mess up my spine which really made me think that night.
