The Calm Before the Storm Chapter One Version One
With the setting of the
sun, a young man could be seen, wielding a hand crafted staff, as he was seen
blocking strikes from his Pokémon, a yellow skinned species known to many as an
Ampharos, wielding a cane of sorts. For some that saw the spectacle, it would've
looked like just any general trainer sparring with his Pokémon to hone their
skill in battle. For the young man and the Ampharos, however, there was more to
the story.
The two could've
continued fighting, but the trainer had exclaimed with a pant "That's
enough...for today."
As the Ampharos nodded,
the trainer, known to some simply as Ethan of New Bark Town, he pressed a
button on his staff as it collapsed into a short handle, resembling a
flashlight at a distance. Smiling, Ethan hugged the Ampharos, and said "I'm
impressed with how far you've come, Phosphora."
"Thank you." The yellow
sheep replied, as she hugged back. Many years back, Ethan had found her while
on a shopping trip with his Uncle Cheren in Cherrygrove City. While his Uncle
was surprised to find a Pokémon far from where its kind was normally found, he
noticed that the poor Pokémon had appeared to be blind. There is more to the
story, but it will be told in good time. Do not worry fellow readers...all in
good time.....
Most of what Ethan knew
of his heritage had come from what his Aunt and Uncle had told him of his past.
The two wanted to keep it as much of it a secret as possible until he reached
an age where he would understand. After an instance where someone pushed him
into a pool when he was eleven, and nearly died from being electrocuted did his
Aunt and Uncle tell him of his past as poor Ethan recovered on his bed back at
their house. The two were about to send him to a hospital, but were surprised
by how fast he had recovered, only needing a few days to recover from any
injuries he had sustained.
Unfortunately, people
began to get uncomfortable at the sight of Ethan, and began to spread rumors
about him, rumors of which that had grown worse as he aged. It wasn't long
before the three had to move out of New Bark Town to protect themselves. Once
they found somewhere else to live, Cheren had helped Ethan develop as well as
hide his electrokinetic abilities. Now that Ethan was at an age where he could
become a Pokémon Trainer, he bid farewell to his Aunt and Uncle, as well as
promising Hilda that he would use his newfound power for goodwill.
Not showing any fear,
the two held an arm over each other, like a couple as they returned to Violet
City, where they had been staying, until the two were ready to head over to
Azalea Town, which lay to the south. They had considered that Ethan was to
catch at least another Pokémon, perhaps two. As for Phosphora, she always felt
that she and Ethan were already mates, but she wished to save herself until the
time was right for the both of them. Perhaps it was part due to her being a
Pokémon, but something in her wanted to ask him if he would take more than one
mate, as long as she was a Pokémon.
She chose not to ask
him, mainly because she had no idea of wording what she wanted to say, as well
as believing that he would've preferred to just be with her. Not that she would
complain with either scenario, she could tell by the electrical signals his
mind was producing that he would never settle down with another human.
Soon, the two had
walked into Violet City, where the young Ampharos' sight went ablaze. Despite
being blind, Ethan refused to let that get in her way, and taught her as the
two had aged to use her electrokinesis to work as a vision of sorts, something
that worked, but generally hindered her. Whenever they were in an area that
produced a lot of electricity, she could literally see every building,
waterway, even a few Pokémon that would pass by as though it were glowing in a
yellow Aura. When they were somewhere that wasn't as reliant on electrical
power.....I think you can figure that one out.....
As the two went into
the Pokémon Center where they were staying, neither of them noticed an aged
man, wearing a grey raincoat and a fedora that more than easily hid his face,
as he sat on a bench, watching Ethan and Phosphora walk into the center. "We'll meet in time, Ethan." The man
thought, as he pulled out a Pokéball, the Pokémon inside being one that he
meant the world to him, as well as another. "We'll meet when the time is right..." Putting the Pokéball away, he
left Violet City, without saying anything.
After sharing a bed
together, and only resorting to a long night of cuddling in each other's arms,
Ethan had asked her "I was thinking of taking a look at the sights that Violet
City has to offer."
"That sounds lovely,
Ethan. And I have just wanted to ask..." Phosphora responded. Not giving him a
chance to respond, she continued "Given that we are far from New Bark Town, as
well as Cherrygrove City...isn't there a possibility that you're free from people
attacking you for who you are?"
Smiling sadly, Ethan
sighed and explained "I only wish it was that easy. Sorry to ruin it for you,
but I have a very long way to go before I can earn the trust of the people of
Johto. As well as anywhere for all I know."
"Don't be sorry." She
said calmly. "It was just a thought.....let's check out of the center, grab
something to eat, and check out...what was that place again..."
"The Sprout Tower?"
Ethan questioned.
"Oh, yes. That's it,
thank you." She exclaimed enthusiastically. "Let's get ourselves ready!"
