Chapter 3

Demonic Fighting

The next morning Red was still sleeping and hears noises and opens up her eyes then sees Sultra packing up his stuff and sits up. "Hey what are you doing?" Red asked. "Well you said you wanted me to help you get back to one of the districts, I'm going to help you." He said.

"But are you sure?" Red said. "Yeah, like I said last night you wouldn't survive out there so you might need someone." Sultra said and getting his sword holster.

He grabbed his sword and slides it down the sword holster and putting on his leather trench jacket. "Are you getting ready or not?" Sultra asked. "I will I just don't have much with me." Red answered.

Red gets up off the couch and puts on her shoes. "I didn't ask you last night, what was your name?" Sultra asked. "My name is Red." Red answered.

"Well Red let's get rolling." He smirked. He went to the door that was on the other side of the room and was unlocking it and it opened and it goes downstairs. "You might want to get behind me." Sultra warned.

Red listened and got behind him. "Some of them are usually down here since it's a huge building." He said and walks down. They walked up to an empty elevator shaft entrance that leads all the way to the bottom of the building. "We're going down there?" Red asked.

"Yeah, don't worry though just get on my back and I'll jump down there." Sultra said. Red looked at him thinking his insane. "Wait what you can't do that!" Red was afraid and Sultra looks at her.

"You want me to prove it to you then?" Sultra smirks. "No wait I wasn't meaning that!" Red shouted.

Sultra was still smirking and jumps in the elevator entrance and goes all the way down and yelling and its silenced. Red widened her eyes in shock thinking she's on her own. Then she heard yelling coming back and Sultra comes back out and Sultra starts laughing. "I thought you died!" Red said and was shocked. "Nope, just one of my special abilities!" Sultra laughed. "You have special abilities?" Red was puzzled.

Sultra slowly stopped laughing and looked at her, he frowned a little. "Um, yeah well are you getting on?" Sultra asked. "Will it be safe?" She questioned him.

"Well yeah didn't you just see me jump down and back?" He questioned back. "Yeah but just hold me on so I don't fall..." Red said and getting afraid and Sultra smirked.

"I promise my life I won't drop you." He said. "Well okay." She said. Red gets on Sultras back and she was getting prepared. "Ready?" Sultra asked her.

"Yeah." She said and Sultra jumped through the elevator, Red was holding tight and has her eyes closed and Sultra landed on his feet to the bottom of the elevator and they are at the bottom. "We're here!" Sultra said.

Red opened her eyes up and she sees they are at the bottom. "We actually survived..." Red said and was relived. Sultra let Red down and they got out of the elevator. "Yep, and there's our exit out of the building." Sultra said pointing at the exit.

Both of them walked and Red keeps looking at Sultra still wondering what his suppose to be. When they walked out there was something out there waiting for them. There were a lot of fiends out there feeding on these guards that were from one of the districts. Sultra sees them and wields out his sword slowly and has a serious face of his. "Red... get back inside and lock the door, I got this." Sultra said. "Okay!" Red listens and goes back inside to lock the door for her safety.

Sultra nods at her and looks back at the fiends and walks up to them. The fiends see him and were growling at him. One of them was dashing at Sultra, Sultra wasn't moving and was not afraid. They roared angrily and the fiend jumped at him and Sultra grabbed its neck choking it. The fiends looked at him and stopped growling. Sultra was squeezing the fiend's neck really tight and break its neck and threw the fiend behind him. The fiends got really mad and they roared and for fiends came.

"Oh no!" Red said worrying about him. One of Sultras eyes turn glowing red, Sultra slashed a fiends head off and punched a fiend's face and it goes flying back ten feet away from him, two fiends run at him and Sultra sliced one of them in half and grabbed one of their necks and slammed it to the ground hard causing the concrete to crush. The fiend starts whimpering and Sultra was growling and kills it by choking it to death. Sultra gets back up and taking a breath. Red sees that he killed every single one of them and the coast was clear. She unlocked it and walks back out. Sultra looks at her and his eye was still glowing red and he lowers his ears and covers his eye till it goes back to normal.

"Are you okay?" Red asked. "Yeah, just need to calm down." Sultra said.

"Sultra... what are you?" Red asked and is a little afraid. "I'm not human like you... at least I used to be..." Sultra said and tries to lead the way.

Red runs to him and holds his arm and gets in front of him looking at him in the eye. "I'm not like you or anyone else..." Sultra said. Red can see him trying to look away and the hair that was covering his other eye it was exposed a little and she sees that it was a sewed up eye socket. Red ignores it and hugs him slowly. Sultra stops and was shocked and looking down at her. "... What are you doing?" Sultra was a little afraid. "Hugging..." Red said.

"Tell me why you're like this I want to help." Red said. "Red... I've been this way for longer than 50 years before this whole revelation started, you shouldn't be with a monster like me, and this is a curse that was given to me." Sultra said. "Curse?" Red thought.

"Then let's sit down and talk about it I want to know." Red said. "What about the district you keep talking about?" Sultra said.

"That can wait..." Red said. "... Okay then." Sultra said.

Red walks back to the building and sits down by the wall and Sultra follows and looks at her. Red looks at her and she pats a spot for him then Sultra sits by her and he looks down ready to confess. "Like I said I was human before... back in 1986." Sultra said with his tail around him. "That was 70 years ago..." Red said.

"I was 18 by then also." Sultra said. "So that means your 88... how are you still young?" Red said.

"Like I said it's a curse." Sultra told her. "So you're immortal?" Red asked.

"Yes, what happened was..." Sultra stopped talking and slowly starts to remember something. Red looked at her and he closed his eye. "I had a sister... she was about your age... plus she looks almost like you." Sultra said.

"... What about her?" Red said. "She's one of the reasons why I'm like this." Sultra said.

"She is?" Red kept wondering. "Yes, you see, when we were together in a park once, I was the one driving her there with a truck and we were driving back trying to get home, while I was driving we got into a car crash, we went to the hospital, I was fine but she wasn't," Sultra explaining.

"Oh my..." Red said. "We only had a dad in our lives and he was really mad at me at me, it gets worse though, the doctor came to us and said she has cancer and later that night she... died... my dad kept saying it was my fault, I couldn't take it from my life so I ran away because I didn't want to look back." Sultra explained.

Red starts looking down and she starts getting a tear in her eye. "But it was an accident... right?" Red asked. "Yes... my dad just kept blaming me and nonstop saying it was my fault and I couldn't take so I ran away because I didn't deserve to be with a family I deserved to die." Sultra said.

"After I got far... I met this lady, but she was a witch, she said she would help me bring my sister back, I didn't know how she could do it but she said I had to do one thing but she lied, she was a witch." Sultra said. Red looked at him puzzled. "She showed me this wooden mask, it was shaped up and looked like a wolf, and she wanted me to be a test subject and lied about bringing her back." Sultra keeps explaining.

"So that's what you're wearing?" Red asked. "Yes." Sultra replied. "But I can't take it off." Sultra said.

"How come?" She wondered. "Before I had this on, I had these five... demons inside of me." Sultra said.

Red widened her eyes in shock. "If I don't wear the mask they will try everything to get inside of my heart and eat the inside of me so the mask makes them stop, but instead of getting rid of them, the mask possesses a special power for me to use the demons powers and use it against the fiends but I don't know what the purpose for me it is to use it but I thought maybe I should look for that purpose." Sultra explained more. Red hugs him tight and was tearing up. "What you said about yourself being different, you are a good person I know you are Sultra, your sister might've wanted you to have a nice life but I am very sorry to hear all of that, Sultra like I said you're a good person and your sister knows too!" Red said hugging him and tearing up a little bit.

"Yeah but I'm the one that got her killed..." Sultra said. "But that was an accident and you know it!" Red said. Sultra tries to look away and rubs his face. Red still notices the sewed eye he has.

"Also I still want to know... what happened to your eye...?" Red said. "... That happened years ago and lets go I will talk about it more later I want to keep moving." Sultra said and gets back up and walks leading her to north.

"Wait up!" Red said and following him.
