World of Chaos: Chapter 1
#1 of World of Chaos
This story is told from a rotating first person point of view. The change if narrator is marked by the narrators name in italics before the start of a new scene or paragraph. This story is set in a homebrew campaign setting of my d&d/ pathfinder group. The world of Ryze is full of fantastical races like elves, orcs, dwarves, etc. The tale follows characters from one of our more memorable story archs. Let me know what you think!
Aatu
My story is a strange one. Do not mistake me for the hero. I'm no great knight, or proud prince fending off the forces of darkness. There are many others far better suited for such a title. I begin the chronicle best, since it was my beginning, and coincidentally coincided with the start of it all.
I entered this world in a long forgotten valley far to the northwest, nestled in the remote side of the Sutvald Mountains. My nursery was a warm, if slightly damp den.
There were seven of us altogether, an unusually large number for a litter of winter wolves. The runt was lost not long after birth, leaving behind six healthy pups.
I don't remember much about my first winter, only that we were not allowed to wander far from the den. Most of that time was spent nestled close to my mother, in the security of the packs home.
By the time spring came, there were only five pups remaining. One of my sisters had been taken by a hungry polar bear. I have vague memories of the pack mourning the loss of a promising member.
I was six moons by the spring thaw, just barely too young to take part in any pack hunt's, though I was expected to come along to observe. It wouldn't be long until I was expected to join in.
For the meantime, I was to hone my skills with my siblings.
"Aatu, your a fool. There is no way you can catch it!" Haeko barked, irritation saturating his voice.
The three of us watched the fat raven as it picked at the remains of a recent pack kill, a large caribou. I was contemplating how quickly I would have to move in order to catch the bird.
My brother Haeko was sitting alongside me and my sister Istas.
"Shut up, Haeko, I bet I'm faster then you!" I growled.
"I don't know, Aatu, he always catches you when we play, and besides, he's bigger than you." Istas reminded.
"That doesn't mean anything. Maybe I let him catch me." I lied.
"Let's see it then!" Haeko yelled, suddenly leaping at me.
We collided to the ground in a yipping and snapping ball of fur and fangs, kicking and wrestling with all the ferocity of a young pup.
It wasn't long before Haeko got the upper hand, and i felt myself pinned to the slushy snow by the scruff around my neck.
Haeko clamped down tightly, making sure I wasn't going anywhere.
He tried to utter something, but his mouth was far too full of my fur to make any sense.
Out of nowhere, a silver blur slammed into him, sending him toppling away from me. I used the opportunity to compose myself.
Istas was now in a mock life or death struggle with Haeko, after rescuing me from his death-lock.
He had learned early on that brute strength would not always win out against the much smaller wolf. Istas had perfected the art of maneuver and speed well before any of our litter. Most of us were still a bit clumsy and uncertain with our wrestling.
I couldn't help but admire the way she dove and lunged, misleading Haeko into attacking a weak flank, when in reality she would already be circling around to nip at his own flank by the time he finished the move.
Istas had one of the most magnificent pelts of silver a winter wolf could have, with eyes to match. Both were inherited from my mother, a stern, yet caring she wolf, and Alpha female of the pack.
Haeko, however, almost looked as if he was closer related to our unintelligent cousins, due to his light peppered grey coat. His eyes were the only indicator of his superior pedigree, as they were a light blue.
As for myself, I was shrouded in a coat of pure white, like that of untainted snow. My eyes were black and white in the strangest combination any of my pack had ever seen. At least, that's what my father told me.
Haeko finally managed to catch on to Istas' feints, barely managing to catch her fleeing tail by the tip. A loud yelp escaped her lips, and he received a hard nip on the muzzle as a reward.
I chuckled, drawing an angry look from my brother.
"What are you laughing about? Istas had to come rescue you again!" he snapped, before trotting off toward our siblings Cadno and Melrakki, who were off enjoying the early spring breeze as it swept through the trees from the tundra.
"Doesn't handle defeat well, does he?" Istas asked, coming to sit next to me. I glanced over, watching as Haeko slumped down next to Cadno, nose between his paws pouting.
"Not really." I said, before hesitating, "But he's right, you always come to my defense."
I eyed the wolf pup next to me.
"Well, you always try to beat him his way. He will just throw his weight at you, and all you do is throw your weight right back. He will win every time." She laughed, nudging me over suddenly.
I yelped more out of surprise then fear or pain.
"Hey!" I barked, indignantly.
"Find out how to use your strengths to take advantage of his weakness!" she chuckled again, before trotting off with the rest of my siblings.
I snorted grumpily to myself, glancing back at the raven who was still picking through the carcass, uncaring of the brawl that took place only twenty strides away.
If I was fast, I could catch it unaware.
I stalked forward, head lowered, eyes never leaving my prey.
It went on oblivious to my existence.
Grinning to myself, I prepped for the leap that would close the distance.
I felt my muscles strain suddenly, as I lunged forward, closing the gap between me and the raven.
Just as I thought my teeth were gonna close around the doomed bird, it suddenly flapped fiercely, catching me in the face as it took to the sky, coming to settle on a large aspen tree thirty paces away.
I shook fiercely, righting any ruffled fur left by the birds assault.
The sound of laughter drifted over to me from my siblings, and I glanced back to see all four of them losing it to my failed ambush.
"Watch out, I've heard those birds are deadly!" Haeko called, tongue lolling out in a wide wolfish grin.
I growled, glaring back at the raven, who gave a loud "Kaw!" as if he too were mocking me.
"I'll get him!" I growled, rushing forward to the base of the tree.
He was almost ten feet up the tree, peering down at the meal he was forced to leave behind.
"Just forget it, Aatu!" Istas called after me. I ignored her.
I gave a mighty leap against the trunk, only succeeding in making it about halfway before landing back in the snow below.
The raven took flight once more, deeper into the forest. I growled, running in pursuit, the shouts of my brothers and sisters fading behind me.
Ciara
A loud slurping noise caught my attention. It was coming from the direction of camp. Not again! I groaned, creeping forward through the undergrowth.
Stalking forward, I found a suitable vantage point, then crouched down in silence.
In the small clearing that served as our camp, I saw my brother, standing behind that large cat of his, face buried in the animal's plump twat.
He was making obscene slurping noises, lapping away at the animals moist pussy like an overeager apprentice who's found himself in a whorehouse for the first time.
I still couldn't understand how he managed to control that snow leopard like he did. The animal seemed so docile and calm, more like an over-sized kitten than a predatory animal.
Two years ago, my brother had left to join a renown academy of magic. It was an amazing opportunity for a halfling born to a family of farmers and ranchers in the last village on the corner of the world.
He was going to bring our family wealth and prosperity. An academy trained wizard, no matter the race, can hold high honors in almost any kingdom. They've served as ambassadors, councilmen, advisers, and even a general once.
The thought that my twin brother could have been an adviser to the human king, or serve as some far off dignitary to a bordering kingdom seemed ludicrous, though I couldn't help but feel jealous. Here I was back at the farm, helping my father muck out the stables and bring in the meager crops. The only real excitement I ever got was when I was on the hunt. Checking traps or trying to bring in game to supplement our food stores with venison, and our money purse with pelts and hides.
The academy was not to be, however. My brother was expelled. He claimed it was for excessive drinking, but I doubted it. No, I bet it had something to do with that damned cat.
The leopard gave a soft purring growl, one of obvious pleasure. The slurping grew more audible, and my brother finally pulled his face from the animals nethers, laughing.
"You've made a real mess, Aklys!" he laughed, wiping away the copious amounts of pussy juice from his face. "Felt good, M'lady?"
The way he talked to the cat made me groan. Always talking to her or about her as if she was some highborn noble.
"Time to return the favor?" He asked hopeful, as the cat glanced back at him with what could only have been a gaze of seduction, if I didn't know any better.
Suddenly, the animal leaped around, tackling the small halfling wizard to the ground playfully, before gently creeping down his front.
She stopped near his groin, rump in the air, as giant paws gently kneading around his waist. Razor claws seemed to tease at the drawstring of his simple grey robes. Either that cat was trained better than any shepherds hound I've ever encountered, or it was no normal leopardess.
"Mhmm, gods, Aklys!" He moaned as the dangerous weapons of the hunt skillfully massaged his manhood through his robes. I could see a small lump forming in his robes, and couldn't help but smile despite myself.
I had stumbled on a similar scene a few times now. One wrong move with those razors, and my brother would be unable to have children.
Suddenly without warning, Aklys caught the small rope tie around his waist, slitting it with ease. She nuzzled my brothers robe open, freeing his engorged cock from the confines of wool.
She nuzzled and mewled playfully, brushing her face slowly against it, drawing hilarious moans and gasps from my twin.
He reached up with tiny hands to her large head, and gently started to caress and rub her ears. Getting the hint, the cat brought forth her large, rough tongue, and gave a long slow lick that completely enveloped his entire erect cock.
I was certain he was going to explode right there, the way he squirmed.
Aklys brought her teeth to bear, gently teasing with his tiny cock head, alternating between licking and slowly brushing her large fangs across his small halfling cock.
Apparently my brother gets off on dangerous weapons stroking him. I thought to myself, a slight grin on my face.
I would never tell him this, but I was beginning to find his little endeavors with Aklys to be somewhat hot. Of course, I had to be the responsible one, and remind him that it was something not socially acceptable in any kingdom I've ever heard of.
The cat wrapped her agile tongue completely around his tiny cock, before slurping up the entire length in her large mouth, burying her face in his groin. Their eyes locked for a moment, and It was then I could see the true intelligence in the animals gaze, as her eyes spoke with pure seduction.
Camden thrust his hips forward, both hands tightly grasped on the snow leopards head, a loud gasp of pleasure escaped his lips.
Aklys let his sensitive cock free from her muzzle, a small dribble of cum connecting her lips to his stiff member.
She gave one last, long, painful lick to break any connections, and gave a nod in my direction. I stared in disbelief. I had definitely seen her nod in my direction.
She sat back to let the trapped halfling up.
Camden glanced over in my direction, seeing me smirking as I emerged from the treeline, trying to hide any sign of shock I was feeling.
"That's why we got kicked out of Northmeadow." I stated, adopting my stern tone as he quickly moved to cover his cock.
"Ciara! Damnit!" He shouted, leaping to his feet.
"Can't expect to find work if any potential employers catch you fucking your pet cat." I said, dropping two rabbits I'd collected from my snares on the ground besides the fire pit.
"She's not my pet!" He exclaimed indignantly. "Besides, It's been weeks since we've had any potential work. Nobody wants to come out this way, not with those damn slavers pushing out further and further every year."
Camden was right of course. We had been working as both guides and reference advisers for would be adventurers who wished to explore the Old Kingdom ruins that were scattered among the Sutvald Mountains.
Unfortunately, raiders from the island kingdoms of Skera and Manir were making it increasingly difficult to traverse this region.
Barbaric slavers, it was well known that they pillaged and raided for goods and people. We had encountered stories of fighting arenas were slaves were pitted against one another, as well as great beasts and various other shows of a more sexual nature.
We ourselves had more than one run in with slavers already this year, though we were usually underestimated by our larger opponents.
It was handy to have an academy trained mage in tight situations, and Aklys has even saved my skin on more than one occasion. Didn't exactly understand or trust the cat, but sure as hell was nice to have an apex predator on your side.
Dropping my bow from my shoulder, I drew my small knife, setting to work on skinning the unfortunate victims of my snares.
"How did this even begin?" I asked as I worked, nodding toward Aklys, who now lounged grooming herself by the great oak tree that sheltered our camp.
"I dunno... just sorta happened." Camden said, coming to sit next to me, robe tied about his waist once more. I couldnt help but notice the rope that served as his belt was knotted in multiple places. Other occasions of fun with his cat, perhaps?
"How are you still here?" he blurted suddenly.
"What?" I asked, glancing up from my work.
"It's just that, our own father has disowned me, I was kicked out of the academy, our own homeland, and you know the exact nature of my relationship with Aklys. Why do you still stand by me?" He asked, glancing down at the half skinned rabbit.
"You're my brother." I said simply, returning to my work.
"Family wasn't enough for father." he said, staring into the fire now, but not really seeing anything.
That made me pause. I glanced up at him, thinking.
"Remember when you first started using magic?" I asked.
"Yeah, I stole that spellbook from Vara. Gods dad was pissed!" he chuckled slightly.
"You stole the book, so that you could learn a single spell. One that would make the crops grow healthy and strong. That's all you wanted." I reminded.
"It worked, didn't it?" he laughed, obviously remembering the tomatoes the size of watermelons.
"Well, you did it so that you could help the family. You really were never any good at farming, or hunting. Or chores. Or anything really." I laughed, tossing rabbit guts at him.
"Hey!" he said, wiping the gore off his cheek.
"You found magic, because you wanted to make dads and my life easier. I may not understand your relationship with that damned cat. Hell, I'm not sure I want to know the details. All I know is that you have always tried to help, even if your attempts were ill-informed."
We sat in silence for a while, my brother lost to his thoughts.
"I-I got kicked out, because of Aklys. Not because of our relationship, but because I freed her." he blurted suddenly.
Aklys stopped grooming herself, glancing up at this.
"You can tell she is no ordinary snow leopard. They had her imprisoned against her will, and I couldn't live with myself watching her caged like that every day. So I snuck out one night, and let her out. Managed to get her to the forest. Was caught in the halls when the alarm was raised. They had no real proof it was me, but that didn't matter. That's probably why I was not put to death, considering what she i--" Aklys interrupted him with a low growl.
I glanced between the two, as their eyes met.
"Sorry." he clearly told the cat.
"What is she?" I asked, glancing at the animal as she sat in the shade.
"I wont say anymore. Sorry Ciara, It's not my place." Camden rose suddenly.
"If you'll excuse me, I've got to wash up before dinner." he stated, wiping a bit of love juice from his chin.
As Camden walked off in the direction of the river, Aklys stood slowly, eyeing me suspiciously, before following after him.
Something strange was going on. One thing was for sure, I was gonna watch Aklys much closer from now on.
