#2 of Opposites.

My boredom never stops. And the ideas never stop until I hit that ever dreaded brick wall of what the hell am I supposed to do with a story...haven't hit it with this one yet.

Blade had just made it out to the parking lot of the shopping center when Kora stormed up to him. Blade expected her to yell at him some more but was stunned when she grabbed his wrist and slapped her other hand into his, stuffing the cash amount of the pants she had on into his hand then letting go of him. "Don't do something like that again...ever. I don't need you or anyone else buying my clothing for me..." Kora turned and headed off down the street, leaving Blade standing there in shock, watching her in silence before looking at the cash in his hand. He lowered his ears and sighed heavily, shaking his head some. What was up with this girl? He had never encountered someone like her and it bothered him that he was becoming attracted to her. He shook his head and sighed again, walking down the street and down towards the park. On his way he had to pass by the grave yard in the town. He was looking around when he saw Kora standing in the grave yard with the snow starting to fall again. He stopped and stood his ears up. It was now that he noticed she didn't have her hoodie on or a coat for that matter. He turned and pushed through the small gate of the graveyard, slowly making his way to Kora.

When he reached her he remained a foot or so behind her with his his gaze on her. It didn't take long for him to realize she was crying. He folded his ears back and moved up beside her, looking down to her some since she was a bit shorter then him. Blade remained silent as he looked from her to the grave stones in front of them, two belonging to her parents while the others to her grandparents. Blade blinked and looked back to her, speaking softly. "Kora...where is your coat...or hoodie?" The fox shifted some and glanced to him with her ears flattening against her head before she sighed. "Stalker...I left my hoodie at the cafe yesterday...I was so pissed off with you I forgot it. It is fine though." Blade frowned as he watched her before shaking his head and pulling his jacket off, putting it over her shoulders. She tried to stop him but he wouldn't let her as he stood behind her now. "Stop it...just take it alright? I have a hoodie on under it so I won't be feeling the cold much...you on the other hand...are shivering." Kora knew he was right. She was so used to it by then she hadn't noticed it. She sighed and only nodded as she let him set the jacket over her shoulders while she looked down to the grave stones in silence.

After a few minutes Blade gently pulled on her shoulders and led her out of the grave yard. He didn't ask questions just yet as he led her down the street to a coffee shop that was open even with the snow. He led her inside and into a booth at the back of the shop. He left her there for several minutes before returning with two large cups of hot chocolate. He sat across from her and slid one of the cups to her. Kora stood her ears up and looked from the drink to Blade, her cheeks stained from her tears while she looked a bit stunned and confused. Blade smiled a bit and shook his head some. "Don't bitch me out over it alright? I am just...trying to apologize for yesterday....on my part anyway." Kora lowered her ears and nodded some as she sat there for a moment before she took a deep breathe. "I am sorry...I just..it angered me hearing you and your friend yesterday...normally I ignore things like that but...hearing it like that just..." She gave a bit of a shrug before he pushed her cup a bit closer to her while shaking his head. "Your alright Kora...honestly I shouldn't have fed into his statement and egged it on like I did...I have never had a girl dump ketchup on me before though." Kora laughed a bit and nodded some, picking up her cup and letting it warm her hands before sipping on the drink.

Blade watched her in silence for a minute or so before he spoke softly. "Why were you standing in the grave yard like that Kora?" The fox stood her ears up and looked at him for a moment before she lowered her gaze to her drink, her tail curling around her legs lightly before she sighed. " Visiting my parents...and grandparents." Blade stood his own ears up and stared at her for a moment before tilting his head to the side a bit. "How long?" She shifted a bit as she toyed with her cup while she turned her gaze back to him. " I lost my parents when I was ten or so...in a car crash...my grandparents passed about two or three years ago from old age and illness." Blade folded his ears back and stared at her in a sad silence as she shook her head some. "Don't look at me like that...I am fine...it happens." Blade shook his head again and sighed. "Do you live alone? I mean...surely your not trying to survive alone are you?" Kora bit her bottom lip and sighed with her gaze lowering. "I live alone. I don't have someone I trust enough to really move in as a room mate...my boss is kind to me..he knew my grandparents. He gives me supplies each week from the cafe to help me along with my pay check so I am fine." Blade shook his head a bit and decided to not ask anymore questions. The two of them went silent as they sat there drinking on the hot chocolate. After a while Blade looked to Kora and smiled some. "You could come to my place if you want...it is a long walk but better then being alone..." Kora stood her ears up and blinked, looking at him for a moment before shaking her head some as she pushed her empty cup away.

Kora stood up from the booth as she looked at him. "I..can't. I don't think your friends or family would be happy seeing you hanging out with someone like me." Blade stood up and tried to stop her as she handed his jacket back to him. "Thank you Blade..." She stepped back from him and left with her ears low against her head. Blade lowered his own ears as he watched her before sitting back down for a moment before getting up and paying for the drinks. He pulled his jacket back on, catching Kora's scent on it and stopping for a moment. What was going on with him? He never felt this kind of attraction to a girl let alone one like Kora. He shook his head and left the cafe to walk around the town in silence while Kora had headed back home. Once she was through her door she cursed. The heat had given out and the house was freezing. "Damn that old heater! she laid her head back against the door and whined a bit before pulling her phone out of her pants pocket and calling Laney who agreed to let her stay with her for a few days.

that night Kora slept on Laney's couch glad to be some place warm. She had to save up to get her heating system fixed though and it annoyed her. The next morning Laney and Kora went back to the shopping center to spend the day there. As they were walking down along the shops Kora spotted Blade walking towards them with his gaze on his phone. Without word to Laney the fox ducked into a video game store and out of sight as Blade almost bumped into Laney who was looking around for Kora. "Kora?" Laney folded her ears back, looking behind her before looking to Blade who stared at her with a raised brow when he heard her calling for the fox. "You know Kora?" Laney blinked and nodded some as Blade motioned for her to walk with him. As they headed down along the shops Kora stuck her head out of the video game store with a soft sigh coming from her. She had never done something like that to avoid someone before. She moved out of the store and over towards the food court of the shopping center to wait for Laney.

Laney stood her ears up as she walked with Blade while he spoke softly to her, telling her of the last two days from meeting Kora. "What is up with her? Why is she reluctant and distant from people like she is?" Laney lowered her ears a bit and looked at him as she stopped walking, turning some to look at him a bit better. "Kora is...iffy on letting people get close to her. Most could recover from losing their parents like she did...but a few years ago she let someone in...let them get closer to her heart then she normally would. He purposed to her on Valentines day about three years ago...a few months before her grandparents passed....this man took her to dinner and treated her like a princess as he always did for the two years they dated...the night he purposed she told him yes. After he dropped her off at home...he was mugged on his way to his apartment and stabbed because he fought back...he didn't survive the attack. Kora was with him in the hospital when he passed on from the injury...Then she lost her grandparents...it is stuck in her mind that if she lets someone get close to her they get killed or die...It was bad timing and bad luck but it had a bad effect on her." Laney shifted some as she looked at him, biting her bottom lip lightly. "The only reason I know this is because she got drunk at my place one night when I had her stay over so she wouldn't be lonely...and she ended up telling me all this." Blade lowered his ears as he listened to Laney with his hands in his pants pockets. He gave a small nod to her and sighed. "What about where she lives...I followed her from the cafe the day she yelled at me...I saw the house." Laney rubbed the back of her neck and shook her head some. "It was her grandfathers...he busted his ass to get the money for it while his wife was pregnant with Kora's father. She doesn't want to sell it or anything like that but it needs repair. After they passed she has had trouble keeping up with some things on top of working and the classes at the college. She is staying with me right now because the heat gave out and needs to be updated." Blade took a deep breathe as he shook his head some. He thanked Laney with a soft pat on her shoulder and headed off with her watching a bit confused before she left to find Kora.

After Laney finally found Kora waiting in the food court she told the fox about Blade asking questions. When Kora found out what Laney had told her the fox was angry with her and ended up going back to her home even with the heat not working. Kora growled as she paced around her living room with a heavy jacket on her. She was angry with Laney for telling Blade all that she knew but eventually she calmed down and took a deep breathe. She spent the rest of the evening working on some homework that had been emailed to her from the professors of the classes after she had requested it from them. When she finished she headed out of the house in search of food, deciding to not bother cooking that night. As she walked down the street Blade came running up to her, gently grabbing her shoulder and getting her to look at him. Kora wasn't to thrilled to see him as she pulled back from him some. "Laney told me about your conversation at the mall...she shouldn't have told you all that...it wasn't really her place to do that." Blade lowered his ears some as he looked at Kora before sighing some. "I know but...I was curious about you...I couldn't help but ask when she called out looking for you today...I didn't expect that kinda back story on you." Kora flicked her tail slowly and gave a bit of a shrug as she turned to keep walking with him taking a spot beside her and walking with her. "Kora...I know you don't want pity...I can see it in your eyes...but at least let me help in some way...with the heat or even with being a friend." Kora stood her ears up and turned her head to look at him before frowning. " I don't want your help Blade...I am not weak and I am not completely helpless like everyone thinks I am. Why do you care if I have heat in my home or anything like that? Why did you buy my pants yesterday? Why...just why do you care?!" Blade watched her as she teared up in front of him, stepping back a bit as he moved to gently grab her shoulders. "Because Kora...everyone deserves a friend...what happened to you was really fucked up and bad luck....but it shouldn't stop you from having a friend that is willing to help you...I bought your pants yesterday because you mentioned your pay check going out the window after I spilled my drink on you...I wasn't going to let you do that."

Kora took a few deep breathes as she stared at him for a moment before shaking her head and turning away from him, her tail curling tightly around her legs as she thought on it for a moment while he stood there beside her with his ears low. After a minute or so a large black car rolled up beside them on the road. Blade gently gripped her shoulders and spoke softly. "Come on Kora..." The fox tried to protest but he almost shoved her into the back seat of the car before climbing behind her. Kora growled and glared at him with her arms crossed with a huff coming from her. Blade only smiled to her before leaning over the drivers side and speaking softly with a young male lion who was driving the car. As Blade sat back the lion began driving off with Kora looking at Blade. "Where the hell do you think your taking me?" Blade smiled and looked at her in silence. "Hush up and relax...you will see."

It was almost an hour drive into the more wealthy part of town where Blade lived. Kora stood her ears up as she looked out the window at the large homes going by them until the lion pulled into a large garage attached to one of the homes. As the car was parked Blade got out and held the door open for Kora, helping her out of the car before closing it. Kora folded her ears back as she looked to him with a questioning look on her face. Blade gently lead her through a near by door into the house itself which was much larger on the inside then it looked from the street. As she walked inside with him she looked around in silence. The house was warm and surprisingly it felt welcoming. She looked to Blade as he walked into the kitchen and spoke to a young male ferret who was working on that nights dinner, telling him to make extra with Kora being there. The fox folded her ears back and grabbed Blade's arm trying to stop him but he ignored her before leading her out of the kitchen.

"Kora relax! it isn't a problem!" Blade looked to her after they left the kitchen. Kora lowered her ears back and sighed as she looked at him. "Maybe not to you! This is strange for me!" Blade smiled to her and shook his head. He gently slid his hand into her own, her cheeks turning a bright pink as he did. He gripped her hand and lead her up a large stair case, passing by a few small cubs who stopped and looked at Kora then to Blade who only shooed them away before reaching the top of the stairs. Blade led Kora down the hall to his bedroom, pushing the door open and walking inside. His room was huge and rather clean as she walked in seeing a large bed on one side of the room, his bathroom door leading to the large bathroom then his closet door. His wall lined with posters of old rock bands and some new ones as well as what looked like a comfortable futon couch in front of a large flat screen tv with several different game systems hooked up to it. Blade kicked his shoes off and pulled his jacket off soon after before moving to her, grabbing her jacket and pulling her back into reality as he helped her take it off. "Blade...why bring me here?" Kora shifted and looked at him with her tail swaying behind her slowly as he moved around her. He looked at her with his head tilted before leading her to the futon, sitting down with her sitting beside him. "Because Kora...something about you makes me want to help you...to help..make your life better...happier then it is." Kora kept her ears back as she listened to him before looking down to the floor. "Your just..feeling pity. Everyone does when they learn my situation." Blade shook his head and gently pulled her to him, hugging her tightly which made her gasp and blush brightly with a stunned look on her face.

"No Kora...it isn't just pity...there is something about you...I am just not sure what it is yet." Blade held the hug with her for a bit before pulling back with a blush of his own as he stared at her. The two went silent as they put a bit of space between them. Blade turned on one of the game systems and for the next hour or so taught her how to play one of his games before one of the cubs knocked on his door yelling that dinner was ready. "Siblings.." Blade turned the game off and stood up, leading Kora back downstairs to the dining room. Kora halted at the door way, staying out of sight while blade looked in to see his mother sitting at the table after rounding up his little brothers. Blade grinned to his mother who smiled back before raising a brow when she saw Blade move back out to grab Kora and pull her into the room with him.

"Blade? Who is this?" His mother was a lovely white fox with black markings on her fur and long blonde hair that was pulled back in a low bun for her job. Blade gently pushed Kora to the table and almost had to force her to sit down because she had stiffened up. "Hey mom...this is Kora...a friend I met at the college in town. Her heat at home decided to back fire so...I offered her to stay with us for a while until it can be fixed." His mother blinked and stared at him for a moment before looking to Kora who avoided eye contact while her tail curled around her legs tightly. His mother gave a bit of a shrug as she looked to her cell phone. "Alright kiddo...just be glad your father is in Japan for business." Kora stiffened up more at that while Blade only nodded and sat down beside of Kora.

The dinner was beyond awkward for Kora as she sat there, nervously glancing from Blade to his mother then his little brothers who looked about the age of six. His mother often having to put her fork down to grab one for throwing food at the others. Blade ate in silence as he watched them for a while. Kora was silent the entire time she ate dinner with them. When they finished Blade stood up and took Kora from the dining room after see she was tensed up. He led her back upstairs to his room with a smile. "Your going to have to learn to relax Kora...I know it seems like my mom is...uncaring but trust me..she is more kind hearted then she looks...my father on the other hand..totally different story." Kora shifted as she looked at him before nodding a bit with a nervous smile before she looked away from him. She moved with him to sit back down on the futon, relaxing as he turned on a movie for them to watch.

After a while Blade got up to change into some pajamas for the night, bringing out one some old sweatpants and shirt to give Kora to sleep in only to find her curled up on her side now asleep with her jacket over her. Blade stood his ears up and stared at her in silence for a moment before smiling faintly. He gently rubbed one of her ears, making it twitch a few times before moving into his closet and grabbing an old quilt. He walked back over to her and covered her up with it after pulling her boots off so she would be more comfortable. He mumbled a soft good night to her as he turned off the movie then the tv before heading to his bed for the night wondering what was going to happen while she was there with him and his family.
