To Rule the Future for Necross by Draconicon
Zander shook his head, his short braids rubbing against the back of his neck. The timber wolf wasn't looking forward to this fight. Well, not entirely; proving himself was something he greatly looked forward to. He just wasn't sure if he could do it.
Glancing across the cleared grasses to the other tribe, he took a moment to observe his opponent. The tall Remase, chief of the other tribe, stood over seven feet in height, and carried two great clubs as his weapons. The black wolf was like a great shadow among his people, and the only color that broke the solid pattern were the golden pinpricks of his eyes, staring out like a predator's beneath the black cloak of his fur.
He, on the other hand, was armed with a single short dart. It was useless in bludgeoning, but Zander hoped that he wouldn't have to use it for that. If things went the way he planned, he wouldn't.
His tribesmen milled around him, drawing on the designs of the tribe in whorls and crackling bolts down his fur, even going so far as to lift his loincloth and draw them over his sac and over his sheath. It left little tingles running down his spine in anticipation, and he allowed himself a small smile at the thought of having a little fun with his people.
Of course, there was no time for that. Instead, he was pushed away from them as soon as the designs were completed, landing on his tiptoes inside of the small, cleared area. The grass had been carefully burned away, leaving nothing behind but ash and dirt. Neither of them would have a problem with footing; if anything, the only problem they'd have would be a hot foot, if some rock hadn't cooled down enough yet.
Remase joined him in the circle, spinning his clubs. Zander watched them, the timber wolf's eyes taking in every movement as if it was in slow motion. The clubs were huge, bigger than the arms of some of his best warriors; if he got hit with them even once, he could end up knocked out. Or dead, depending on where it hit him. He was hoping for the former.
He spun his needle between his fingers as the two shaman of the tribes stepped forward. They shared a glare as venomous as the chieftains, the panther and the leopard turning to face their respective leaders.
"Zander, is it agreed, upon the honor of the Silent River Tribe, that the authority of chief goes to the winner of this fight?"
The timber wolf nodded, and the leopard turned to face Remase.
"Remase, is it agreed, upon the honor of the Dense Forest Tribe, that the authority of chief goes to the winner of this fight?"
"It is agreed."
The rumbling voice of the bigger wolf left several of the tribesmen around him shuddering, but Zander forced himself to remain calm. He had to keep himself focused; if he started giving in to fear, he'd be pinned beneath the black wolf's foot and fucked over, both out of his chieftainship and then quite literally.
The feline pair nodded to each other, and then held out their hands. Zander's reached for the heavens, while Remase's reached for the earth. They chanted under their breath, while the two chieftains stared each other down. Remase's clubs slowed, and Zander forced himself to take several deep breaths.
This is it. No turning back now; whoever wins leads us to battle.
And neither of them wanted to lose. Their two tribes, together, could win in the war that was to come. But only if they had a good leader. Lacking that...well, there would be problems, and neither he, nor Remase, would step down willingly. This was the only way.
Suddenly Remase charged forward, and the fight began. The tribes backed away from the blackened earth as Zander was forced to duck under the first sweep of the other wolf's clubs. He darted in to try and stab with his needle, but the other wolf was too quick, ducking away from the blow before the timber wolf could connect.
"You're fast."
"So are you."
Zander closed the gap, leaping for his opponent's face. The clubs came down -
"Ha!"
And suddenly pulled himself up by the rods. He grinned at the shocked look on Remase's face, and slammed his foot down hard against the other wolf's nose. The big guy stumbled back a few steps, shaking his head rapidly.
Unfortunately for Zander, he took it a bit too far. He miscalculated how far his sudden maneuver would take him, and landed face-down at the end of the blackened area. The wolf shook his head, groaning as he tried to get to his feet again.
"You should stay down, Zander. You'll be keeping your ass up for me quite a bit when I finish knocking some sense into you."
"Yeah? Well maybe -"
He broke off as one of the bigger wolf's clubs slammed into his side, sending him rolling off to the other end of the circle. Zander barely managed to roll out of the way of the second blow, getting to his feet, but not without cost. He groaned as he hugged himself around the stomach, his hand pressing against his chest.
"That was low."
"And this is a fight."
He rolled forward after the sudden leap at him, barely dodging the clubs again. Zander came up under the larger black wolf, but once more missed as he tried to stab upwards into the fleshy thighs. He cursed under his breath, shakily getting to his feet. Remase chuckled.
"What's the matter? Is this all that the great Zander can muster against me? It seems that you really aren't meant to be the real leader of our alliance."
"You are faster than me...but that doesn't mean that you're better."
"I guess I'll just have to pound your inferiority into you. And if it doesn't work by beating you into the dirt, then I'll just have to pound you with something else."
Growling under his breath, Zander set himself to dodge again. He knew that he couldn't take the big guy with strength, and if he pushed himself much further, then he would be in deep shit. Many more hits, and he'd be on the ground with his ass up in the air, and his tribe would be following the thug's orders. If that happened -
He caught sight of the twitching muscle, and he threw himself to the ground just as Remase charged forward. The black wolf soared over him, and he turned to point the needle upwards. He strained for the thigh, for the knee, for any part of the leg. Time seemed to slow as he reached up, up, up...
His opponent hit the ground, and the needle slipped from Zander's hand, hitting the ground somewhere in the grass. The timber wolf rolled to his feet, panting and gasping as he held up his hands defensively. Had he managed it? Had he struck his opponent?
When Remase didn't get back up, Zander knew he'd won. The wolf smirked, and turned, raising his hands.
"I've finished the great Remase! I win!"
"Coward..."
He froze, slowly turning at the words. He'd half expected to see the other wolf to be getting up, but to his relief, the black-furred former chieftain was only laying on the ground. However, he was glaring back over his shoulder, and his teeth were exposed in a deep growl.
"You fought...with poison."
"Yes. And?"
"That...that wasn't fighting...that was cheating..."
The poison was definitely working a bit slower than he'd expected. Zander had really hoped that his opponent would collapse completely after the first dose, but it looked like it had barely been enough to paralyze his body. He looked around for the needle, and after a second, spotted its glow in the grass. He picked it up and quickly stepped up behind the bigger wolf.
"How did I cheat, Remase? Did I cheat by using a weapon that you didn't think of? Did I cheat by picking something that would end you in a single strike?"
"You fought...dirty..."
"And that is why I won."
He jabbed the needle into the other wolf's side, and then into his ass. Remase groaned softly before closing his eyes and collapsing, the drugs on the needle taking him all the way to the sleeping world. Panting softly, Zander turned to the rest of the group, and held up the simple needle to the sky. It glimmered in the sunlight, gathering everyone's attention.
"I claim the title of chief of both our tribes, as we agreed. My victory shows us one thing. To win, you must surprise your enemy. And I have surprised all of you with this. Tomorrow, we march...and in one week's time, we will drive the enemies from our lands."
He let them cheer for a moment or two before looking over his shoulder. Remase was completely out cold, still, but it was quite clear that he could come back at any time. Despite the agreement, he would doubtlessly have supporters that would prefer to see him in charge of their two tribes. If that happened in the midst of battle, then there could be consequences, particularly for him. But if he took that support away...
Whipping around in as dramatic a fashion as he could, the timber wolf marched over to his former rival. Kicking the bigger wolf's legs apart until his ass cheeks parted and revealed his hole, Zander proceeded to push his loincloth out of the way, fondling his sheath just enough to get his cock to start coming out.
"With this, I strip Remase of his titles and his authority. Under me, he will be no more than a bitch. No more than a slut. No more than a personal toy for me and my tribe; from this moment forth, so let it be."
He pounced onto the wolf's back, forcing his cock under that upraised tail, and moaned as he slipped into that waiting hole. The drug had relaxed more than the muscles of the great chief; it had also opened him up, loosened him for the thrust. Zander grinned as he slid in, thrusting hard and fast right from the start.
"You will be mine...mine, and everyone else's.."
The End
