Bad for Business

Well, I got bored and figured I'd try writing something short, a short scene and experiment with it, I admit I don't like it much. Feel free to rate, comment, etc.

The night was warm as the island was filled with summer party goers and vacationers. Species of all races came here to party, enjoy themselves, everything of that nature. The travel brochures for our island hinted at it but the rule was clear... Do Not Leave the Beachfront. The beach is safe, the island is not. Yet every few days I get to deal with the meandering tourist wanting to explore, looking for a bigger thrill.

Yes, well they always get theirs, normally in the form of vices illegal in their respective homes. Lately though it's been kidnappings, muggings, etc. which is what brings me here, a team at my ready hidden in the dull lighting of a rusted out street light. All waiting for a signal e looked over ourselves, weapons ready, we did not plan for peace. Our island has been going to hell ever since those mainland kingpins began using us as a battlefield and here we got one right here under our noses. Guns at the ready, we waited for an eternity outside this home for a signal.

The one we are about to greet, The Fox, he's something of a 'political activist' as well. He declares he's an advocate for wealth equality one minute, the next kidnapping the rich from the beach or rather he took them from just outside the beachfront districts. Holding them for ransom, he sometimes chooses to just take them out because they represent what he despises, money that isn't his or rather money that doesn't support his causes.

A flare lit up the night sky miles away from us, our cue to strike. We rushed the tiny home, shot everywhere, our minds were on one goal, get the Fox. Explosions filled the might with screams as we cleared every room, each one making me more and more desperate. We got him, We had to have got him! HE WAS RIGHT FUCKING HERE! My thoughts raced reaching the last room and breaking down the door... he escaped. The fox escaped my grasp.

The room was empty, the futon unmade, the window open, coffee still war- window open? SHIT, I bolted to the window hopping out, barely able to see in the dark night, the lights of the beach my main indicator as to my direction. Stepping on a weak roof I fell through, and that's when I saw him, a small but agile frame, long red tail, his name hid nothing about him, he was a fox through and through. I got up and chased after him running faster and faster, this fucker stole my clients and he sure as hell won't get away with it!

I hopped over every obstacle I could, fences, water tanks, even the couple of people hiding on their roofs. I was getting much closer to The Fox now, I drew out my blade ready to go and I hopped... bad move on my part because I got him... in the middle of a jump off a three story building. We hit the pavement, hard. Audible cracks came from the both of us as I used him as my cushion which did very little to protect me although it did finish my job.

He died instantaneously, those cracks were nearly every bone in his body breaking. I lay there bleeding, a few teeth missing and bones broken. One king down, dozens more to go I mused as my associates arrived, the pool of blood from me was growing. No longer would the Fox be taking my furred customers. He's bad for business... a liability, I did our island a favor removing this mainlander.

I laid back hands touching all over me already fixing me up in the middle of the street as I pass out, a job well done.
