Carnal Combat - Chapter 1
Drastic Measures
"Damn where the hell is that boy, he should have returned from training by now." An old fox in the red grandmaster robes of the House of Fire paced back and forth in his dojo, his face bearing a look of worry.
"Blaze has not sent word since he left and the tournament is only a few weeks away, if he doesn't get here soon I don't know who I could possibly send."
Kneeling at the opposite end of the dojo mat would sit another fox much much younger. "Master, please if brother does not return with Victoria, I have to go...you know I am ready, you have training me since I was knee high please fa- master."
"NO you are not yet ready for the tournament, you have not even developed your own Carnality yet, you cannot go. You would be wiped out before even entering the front gates."
"Always the ever concerned father than the inspiring teacher weren't you Grandmaster Ka?" A dark image was standing before the entrance to the dojo and as it stepped towards the torch lit dojo it would be revealed as an oddly masked vulpine ninja with deep crimson eyes.
"Grrr what are YOU doing here, you were banished from the village before the last tournament." Master Ka was not pleased with this newcomer's presence. "Your dishonor had scarred our whole house, how dare you show your face here Vex."
"Hmph, you may no longer recognize me master, but this is still my house and I have come to tell you of the great Blaze and Victoria. That is if you will let me master?"
The old face would glare at the ninja with hate in his eyes. "Very well...speak quickly before I change my mind."
The ninja would bow slowly in respect then rise, the young apprentice fox looking between the two in confusion he had heard rumors of a member of the house being banished, and that the fighter that join lady Victoria and his brother in past tournaments had vanished. Could this be him?
"Your son and his fiancé have met a fate worse than death I am afraid...they have become the playthings of the Shadow house, lost to a slave duel, lost to their pride."
"What...what house would allow such an act to happen, especially with the House of Shadows repute-...no...the House of Storms wouldn't be that desperate would they?"
The ninja would nod slightly. "I'm afraid so, not only did Grand Master Jin refer the match, but empowered the shadow fighters as well. I understand as well that your choice of fighter is thin as many have all ready arrived early to the Combat Halls, as I understand the only likely 2 choices you have are....the boy...and myself."
"You are no longer of our house Vex no matter how much you beg, your dishonor in ambushing that combatant from the Sea house was vile, there is no way I would allow you back in our house just because of a little information." He would then look down to the apprentice kneeling on the ground before glaring at the ninja again. "And the boy is not ready, he must not fight yet, he can't."
The young fox would get to his feet then glareing at the old fox "Grrr Father there is no one else that can go, I know you think I'm not ready and I'm not going to argue, but who else can you send and...master Vex must too...with out my brother we have no other choice."
The old fox would pace left and right growling in rage "No, this cannot be, we would be the laughing stock of all the houses, the others will devour you Rex, my son, as your father...I command you to stay put."
"You haven't told him yet have you dear master? The truth of his birth?" The ninja would grin through his mask.
"Silence you." "Tell me what?" " I said silence, both of you!" "You are not truly his son young Rex." "Damn you Vex!"
"The boy has a right to know, to know he is a bastard, born from the rape of an unknown attacker on your dear wife, to this day his true father is a mystery." The ninja would gaze down upon the young fox "I wish your "father" would have had the guts to tell you himself by now."
"It does not matter, I raised him, I brought him up. He is MY son and he will follow my command."
"Master, please...I know you care for me so, and I know it is not impossible to die in this tournament...but please...we must go there is no one else."
The old fox would look between the two angrily before turning away his hands clasping behind his back. "Very well, Vex...Rex...you both have my blessings...go to the tournament...fight with all your might. Rex...win or lose, you will always be my son, and Vex," The fox turning quickly glaring at him "This is your only chance to regain your honor, if you day pull a stunt like before, you can be assured that an axe will be at your neck when you return. Now...both of you...prepare...you will have a long journey ahead of you."
The young fox would quickly get to his feet barely able to contain his joy finally getting a chance at the great Carnal Combat, and bows to the old fox and would the fox ninja.
As the sun rose the next day the two began the trek to the mountain of the Combat Hall where all the fighters of 7 houses would arrive in a few days.
The beginning of Carnal Combat would begin very soon.
