Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Destiny's Way: Chapter 2.5: A Day in the Life of Volcorona:
As the sun reached its highest point over
the carnival that was the Volcorona Guild Hall, The flap of the tent that
served as Volcorona's office opened, with a riolu, zorua, eevee, pupitar, and
axew stepping in, nervous. "Hello Team Storm. I trust that your training
exercises were successful?" The Volcorona already knew the answer, of
course. Typhon's evolution was proof of that. "Yes, Volcorona. I am now at
level 15, with Lucius at level 14 and Fern at level 15 as well. How I evolved
at level 15 is beyond me, however..." The team's brainiac trailed
off." I suppose that would be a part of Eve's, ah, special gift. She
is, of course the Evolver, being an eevee."The bulk of the team looked at
her with confusion, with axew happily playing and Fern looking at her with
curiosity. "So you figured this thing out, too? The song my mother wrote,
I mean." The small fox cocked her head as she looked at the volcorona.
"If you mean Destiny's Way, yes. I believe that you all, Team Storm, are
the subjects of the prophecy." The mildly confused looks continued."
You mean that folk-song? Fern had a copy of it in the book that came through
with her." Lucius sighed. "We thought so, too. The fact that Eve
changes her form so much, and the fact that Typhon evolved is enough proof. I
guess that that makes me the Aura Reader. Slash is obviously the Hatchling,
too" The riolu said, indicating the axew."And that would
make me the Trickster!" Fras grinned, then stopped." I wonder what the
prophecy is about, anyways?" Volcorona shook her head." I that I
knew, too. But I don't. There was said to be a larger part to the song, but
sadly, Fern's mom was tried and drowned for Witchcraft before she could publish
anything else." The giant insect sighed. "The rumors are that the
song has something to do with a dungeon called Mage's Hill. It is a tiny
Mystery Dungeon though. I was hoping you could check it out." As the
members of Team Storm considered the job, Lucius asked, "What's the
pay?"
"Well, there is an artifact that is
said to enhance psychic power somewhere in the dungeon. I'm sure our psychic
types could use it. Along with Fern, here, of course." The team members
waited. "Experience is the pay." They nodded, understanding. "The
dungeon starts in a small tower in the Basalt Foothills. Here is the map to it,
and some supplies for you." she said, handing Fras the map and Fern a pack. "Off
you go!"
After the Team left, a Tyrannitaur, a
Lucario, and a Zoroark came in. Team Hurricane, the parents of Team Storm. Only
Eve's mother, a sylveon (the first and only one in the town in recorded history), wasn't present, off on some mission for Volcorona. "I
trust you are treating our children well?" the Tyrannitaur, Leo, said. Lucius' mother,
Hope, said "Of course she is. She is doing the best she can. She just sent them
on their first mission." The Zoroark, Fras' mom, chimed in. "Yes. I presume the
Dungeon you sent them too is deeper than you let on, Volcey." The Volcorona
sighed again. "Yes, Zoë. The dungeon is much
deeper than we had originally thought. You will not believe what is at the
bottom. Or will you?..."
