"Why is my wife a dog?" Part 1 of 2
Thomas and his wife, Lisa, are humans. However, that will change very soon, and neither of them will see it coming. (WIP)
The doorbell rang. Thomas Jerger groggily got up to answer. Bruno, his guard dog, was going crazy.
Thomas opened the door. "Calm down, Bruno! It's only Leah!" chided Thomas.
Oh, Leah... She was Thomas's reason to get up in the morning. Her perfect hair, her dazzling smile, her charming personality... He couldn't imagine life without her.
"Hey, babe," said Leah. "How was work?"
"Fine. You?" Thomas knew from her beaming face that she was happy.
"Oh, fine. I only got PROMOTED!!" She hugged Thomas. "I get 10% more than I did before now on my paycheck!"
"That's...awesome!" Thomas was so happy for her. Not surprised, though. Leah worked very hard at her job.
Bruno was kind of freaking out. He was a cute dog, a Labrador Retriever. But he was not to be messed with. He was a 76 pound ball of energy, fur, and faithfulness. His owners were protected at all costs, and Bruno made sure of that.
"Honey..." Leah was clearly winded. "I might actually go to bed. Besides, it's, like, 9:45, and I have a lot to do tomorrow."
Thomas smiled. "Ok. I'll get Bruno inside." He turned around. "Come here boy!"
Bruno happily bounded towards him. He loved his master with all of his canine heart.
"Let's go to bed, boy," said Thomas.
All was quiet in the bedroom. Thomas and Leah were sleeping in their king-size bed, and Bruno was walking quietly in front of them. He sat next to Leah and licked her hand to show his love. Unbeknownst to either of them, the place where he had licked had changed.
It had fur. And the fur was spreading.
