Cypress Wolf Pack Chapter Three: Swimming Through The Depths
#3 of Cypress Wolf Pack
I know it's short. I couldn't seem to focus or the ideas wouldn't come, future chapters will be better.
(Sukura)
Darkness so complete I cannot see the light. Such a thing never bothered me before however and it would not bother me now. My body finally decided that it had enough and had given out on me. I was not dead that much I knew, but I wasn't particularly alive either. Idle buzzing of other's around me dimly penetrated my awareness. Whether I was hearing them move or feeling the idle brushes of their thoughts I could not tell.
In any case it did not matter to much whether it was one or the other. My body had forced itself into a recovery state. I have had such happen before and I would not be suprised if it happened again. I felt the liquid fire and warmth of my power racing around my body. While my body temperature was normally above that of an average human even before becoming a ware the sudden spike in temperature would cause the doctor's alarm i'm sure. It did not bother me however.
As I felt myself quietly roast I knew my power was evolving and adapting not only itself bit my body as well to better cope with the stresses and energy output of using my new strength and my new mental abilities. The doctors wouldn't understand such. Nor would they find comfort in the fact that my flowers were likely taking over the room where I was laying. It was a defense mechanism but as long as no one approached with hostile intent they were safe.
I'm sure the medical equipment around me was going berserk but I wasn't worried nor did I much care. I wasn't someone who could be reduced to mere medical data and the faster they learned that the quicker they would get over the massive headache they were no doubt having.
However as I laid quietly burning i began to notice that Nakishodo didn't seem to be adjusting well so I went to him and tried to help.My prescense seemed to help him out which was a relief. I held onto my fox as time passed. IT seemed to be years to us but i'm sure it was only days.
(<<<A week Later>>>)
Light harsh glaring light finally pierced my eyes as I opened them and slowly slowly sat up. When my vision cleared the first person I saw was Sasha. She was sleeping and I couldn't help but smile softly at the sight. I'm not quite aware what rumblings might have happened while I was out cold but between Sasha and my flowers I have faith that I was in very good hands.
I rose from the bed with a grunt and almost instantly her eyes flung open. "Well a lot has changed since you've been out cold." she informed me. I extended my hand to my flowers and as they wrapped around me like a protective coat I said softly "Do tell." As I spoke my flowers had reformed into blood and they had also manifested my two swords Love and Mercy.
"Well they staged a coup. Your not considered Alpha anymore, though you undeniably still hold the power. Seeing as you couldn't fight while knocked out..." here she snorted. "Well OK you could, but no one wanted to test that." "So how many people do I have to kill this time? I muttered as I slowly and carefully stretched my stiff body and tails.
She sighed lightly. "Honestly I don't know. But the person that has taken your place is well aware of your abilities." "I haven't played all my cards, but your point is valid." I replied. She nodded at that. " I don't particularly enjoy killing, and more hearts can be won through words than a blade. I would prefer to not have people fear me."
" Well except for one other person, their aren't many people loyal to you left in this pack. " she replied which had my curiosity bubbling. "His name is Jack, and he is the leader of the Pack's Shadow Guard." At my look of incomprehension she sighed softly. "Silent as shadows, and deadly as the night the pack Shadow Guard protects us from the unseen dangers of the night and protects the Alpha specifically."
Here a new voice broke into the middle of the conversation. "I'll admit though, that you honestly intrigue me Sukura. Someone that knows nothing of our ways, made a were to save your life, turned a slave and then rose through one simple act to lead a pack that you quite honestly don't want the authority over, but your doing the best with what you've got."
Curiosity had a way of killing cats, good thing I wasn't feline. I was however spooked when the wall in the corner seemed to take on shape and structure turning into a gray wolf with silvery scars showing that he had been bitten or fought other weres more than once.
Makes me wonder why I didn't encounter the shadow guard when I fought the former Alpha or when I entered the territory. I glanced towards Sasha then aired these question. "Quite simply at that time you weren't considered a threat.. at least by the others, I kept an eye on you and i'm happily surprised you didn't disappoint me."
I didn't know if I should be thankful for that or disappointed that I didn't fly under the radar as I usually tended to do. Jack grinned toothily at me and I laughed lightly I couldn't help it. He had an air about him which made me trust him. Normally that alone would make me instantly on my guard but I knew I could trust him. It was a feeling I had and those feelings had never failed me before.
"Let's go see what hand we've been dealt." I said getting to my feet and my flowers faded back into my body. I managed to reach the door without incident. It was opened from the otherside before I reached it and So I quickly drew back.
