Our Kind Just Don't Get Along: Damsel in Distress
#5 of Our Kind Just Don't Get Along.
"Where's Vadan?" Rin asked curiously as she clutched onto Werand's arm and surveyed the area.
"Gone" Aeria said in a slight huff not bothering to look up from her breakfast. "He threw a little temper tantrum last night and left." She set down her fork and looked up at the couple. "I need some fresh air." She rose without another word and stepped outside.
"Eh boss" The weasel on the Doberman's right said elbowing him slightly as he saw the young feline emerge from the building. "Isn't that th' lil tart you was with yesterday?" he asked.
The Doberman, bandaged from his encounter looked across the street. "Why so it is" he grinned "And it seems she doesn't have her little knight around to protect her."
Aeira touched the bag of coins at her side and started down the crowded market street stopping every few feet to examine a dress or a trinket. She continued down the path unaware that she was being pursued. A simple green dress caught her eye at one of the stalls and she pulled it down and held it up in front of her slim figure as she looked in the full length mirror.
"Hello love, miss me?" he asked with a smile wide enough she could see all of his teeth.
The black cat spun around, emerald eyes wide, her feet were frozen for a moment, when she collected her senses she threw the dress to the ground and darted away.
"After her boys" the Doberman growled as he took off after her.
Vadan hadn't traveled far, not like he could since the Inn they had been in was the only one nearby, with no where else to sleep he had spent his night wandering the street trying to figure out who he was angrier at, himself or Aeria. Either way he started to lean he seemed to build up a solid enough argument that he would start to think the other way.
He was rubbing his eyes his body calling out for sleep, but he was refusing it. "Watch it!" Vadan growled as someone rammed into his arm causing his hand to hit is eye hard making it hurt for a moment. He opened his one good eye and saw a flash of black fur, as that was registering he was shoved from behind by a series running furs as they darted after the black fur. He groaned inwardly ‘Aeira' he thought desperately, he started to take after the group but slowed down as he figured out he was angry with the black feline. "She can save herself this ti-" his sentence was cut short as a sharp scream flooded the area, his ears perking up. "Time to play hero" he growled and darted in the direction they had gone.
"P-please let me go" Aeira stuttered as she looked at the group.
"Aww lookie ‘er boys, the little un' has her some manners" one of the Doberman's lackies chuckled as the group pressed in on her.
Aeira had taken a poor turn and ended up in the back of an alley, the main exit blocked by the Doberman and his crew, the only other way out was up and that way was impossible. The young felines tail wrapped instinctively around her body as her emerald eyes darted from one member of the group to the next.
Vadan slowed as he saw the familiar looking Doberman outside the entrance to the ally. "Dammit" he hissed between his teeth. With a deep breath he launched himself forward, into the Doberman biting his neck to the point that it bled.
The Doberman's head snapped back as he let out a long anguished howl of pain moving quickly trying to free himself from his attacker but Vadan refused to let go. "You imbeciles!" the Doberman growled, sill struggling. "Over here!" he glared at the group who still surrounded Aeria but faced him.
Replies of, right, sure boss, and yeah, came from them as they darted over to help him. The few that had the misfortune of getting there first met with Vadan's fists and feet. These actions only set their full attack off for a few seconds, they converged on him again. The howl of pain the erupted into the air was his this time as his jaw opened freeing the Doberman and he fell victim to their fists. His body hit the ground roughly and he groaned as their feet made contact with his sides, an audible crack echoed through the alley followed by a sharp gasp.
Werand and Rin had been out walking when Vadan let loose the howl.
Werand, with his years of training knew the boy wolf huskies howl and darted forward drawing closer to the area, when he got there he saw Aeira huddled in the corner. "Aeira run!" he shouted right before he started his attack to help Vadan. Though he was outnumbered he was able to get it under control hurting enough of them to the point that the others didn't want to go after him for fear of being on the receiving end of one of his blows.
Aeria was huddled against Rin who was watching with amazement as Werand took action, she had seen him fight before but never in a group like this.

The tip of her tail twitched anxiously as she licked her lips. "What do you mean there's no Doctor?" she asked shifting from foot to foot. Since the encounter with the Doberman Aeria had been on edge.
"No Doctor." She repeated. "he's gone ,gone, gone."
"Well when will he be back?" Aeira asked anxiously.
"Oh he won't!" she chirped. "He's gone and left town, something about malpractice I believe."
With that Aeria slunk back to Werand. "There's no doctor." She whispered.
"I guess we'll be heading back early." Werand said as he looked down at her.
Aeria nodded her head weakly.
