"Have a good night, everyone."

I head out the door, trying to contain my excited anxiety. I tried to look like it was just another day leaving the office. Maybe they wouldn't notice that I was leaving twenty minutes later than usual. They were all too busy with their work anyways.

"Good night, Bryan."

Emily greeted me before I was fully out. She had a cute smile that was only for me. But we were only friends. She liked this career and liked the office, and didn't want anything to jeopardize that, no matter how many times I would ask her out. Still, I was her "good friend." She kept that smile for when she saw me, and no one else.

"You have a good one, Emily. I'll take those expense reports tomorrow."

"Of course."

Was I really thinking about expense reports? It was only to make conversation. She and I could have so much fun together...someday. She just needed to open up some more. I was pretty much lonely. The kind of guy that women would swipe right, but wouldn't find time to meet up with after a polite chat online. Emily and I, two of a kind, I had thought not long after she came to work here. Someday she'll really let me in.

Tonight, however, I had other things on my mind.

I drove home in a hurry, not worried that anyone I knew at work would see me rush back. But I was sort of in a hurry. I always left work early enough, but there was no harm in getting started as early as possible.

I wasn't five minutes at home before I had put my things down, taken a bite to eat out of the fridge, stripped out of all my clothes and found myself in the bathroom, lights off. Dusk had streamed into the privacy window of the bathroom, with faint bits of dark blue sky trickling off the bathroom mirror and against my frame. I was warm. The moon peering over my shoulder and reflecting in the mirror stood round and full. It excited me. So I let it happen.

I enjoy being a werewolf. A friend from college gifted me with lycanthropy. Just a bite on the shoulder when he changed, and I changed with him. If I really needed to, he said, I could control the wolf even on the three nights of the full moon. Some of those nights, I even resisted for an hour or two. Once, I went the whole night as a human, just my old self. But I was an emotional wreck the whole time, always on a knife's edge. No, the beast needed to be let out, especially during the full moon. So I let him out.

So I let the fur just bloom all across my chest. I lifted my arms upward to stretch, and my body stretched with them. I was becoming larger. It felt good. Muscles bulged against my skin, claws extended slightly from my fingers. I bared my growing fangs into the mirror at myself. The wolf liked what he saw as I became him. Fur continued to sprout up and down my body. I placed my padded hands against the sink and leaned in, looking at my reflection. My nose became black and my ears pointed up, sticking up from what a head that was flattening. The shape of my face became more wolflike, even though I remained on two hairy feet. I could always dash around on all fours, as I would pretty soon, but I enjoyed the wolfman appearance that lycanthropy gave me.

My fur had covered my chest, my legs and arms, and even gave my manhood sufficient cover, lest branches and thorns get in my way and poke at it as I'm running through the night. But my fur was less pronounced on my face. It sprouted fully against the sides of the faces, but on my cheeks and brow, it had remained a thin, fine layer of hair, just enough to feel fuzzy against my face. The wolfman. I liked how he looked.

Fully transformed, I stretched my arms out wide to reveal my full figure. Bright, glowing eyes gazed back at me in the moment before I darted out of the bathroom, through the kitchen and into the backyard. I looked up at the full moon and wanted to howl. My beast wanted me to howl. But I knew enough to learn restraint, to avoid the suspicion of neighbors. Soon enough, the werewolf would enjoy himself, after I raced into the forest down past the end of the street.

But there was one more stop I had to make.

Two neighborhoods down, past the shopping mall in the city center, the werewolf found his way down another cul de sac. It was the fourth house down the main road. One of the two on the street that was lit. She was already home, her car was already in the driveway. Sure enough, she was in her kitchen, pacing the floor. I could see her through the blinds.

This was eavesdropping for sure, but I was going to draw her out. She didn't look like she wanted to be drawn out. Her hair was up and she had on all of her clothing from the day. She didn't want to go out. But she was too frantic to do anything but pace the floor of her kitchen. She ran her hair through her fingers, and balled her fists. Then she looked up, undoubtedly at the full moon above. Almost frightened of it, she closed the blinds. No matter, there was another window through which to look at her.

I leapt from one tree to another to shift my view of her. She was really fighting it. It was going to be unleashed eventually, as she was not yet strong enough to fight the change. But it would be painful if she kept resisting. She just needed the proper motivation.

I howled softly, and I enjoyed it. It was my first release in a month. The wolf had welled inside of me, hidden from plain view, and it resented that he had to be hidden away until the full moon. I sang to the moon up above, letting the wolf pronounce his joy at being unleashed. It was loud enough so that the neighborhood could her. So she could hear.

When I looked down and through the window again, she had her hands on her ears. Her teeth bared and her eyes shut, she tried to shut out my wolf, resisting her own change from taking place. But the both of us knew better, so when she calmed down, I howled again. My call was longer and louder this time, long enough to draw out the animal in her, until I could her chest tighten against her shirt.

She leaned against her kitchen stove, panting in agony. There was certainly no turning back now. So she let her hair down. Her brown hair flowed freely beneath her shoulders. The first step at shedding her human self and baring all to the moon.

The woman ripped off her clothes, just as she did during the last full moon. She didn't learn her lesson the last time. Perhaps soon enough she would learn to just enjoy the change, relish in the animal she was becoming. All that remained in the first wave of changes was her bra and skirt. Her chest was on fire, sprouting a rich layer of fur that was beautiful to watch. I was happy to see it, even if it meant taking voyeuristic delight in it. Just helping out a fellow werewolf, that's all.

She fell on her back, squirming on the kitchen floor as the werewolf was unleashed. She underwent the same changes I did, just a little bit more violently as she fought her beast. In a minute, it was over, and an exhausted werewolf lay on the floor, completely transformed.

She cried in what could be characterized as shame. I felt sorry for her, and almost a tinge of regret. She balled up on the floor, only her tail sticking out and happily pointing toward the moon. I know mine did every time the full moon rose. My wolf was always happy to be let out, even during the occasional, inconvenient times I wasn't. She certainly wasn't enjoying the curse of lycanthropy. In time, I knew, she would learn to love it. That was my responsibility.

I howled again, this time more triumphantly. Another beast would be out to meet mine, and that made me and my wolf very happy. I howled until I had no more breath, and by then, the woman - the she-wolf - was no longer on the floor. She had wandered out of her house, onto her patio, eyes transfixed on the moon above. When she could take no more, she sang to the moon as well. Her werewolf was unleashed, and she needed to play.

I left a trail for her to follow, my scent that carried her deeper into the forest outside her home. She followed it quite predictably. I could feel her speed matching mine, as she followed my musk to meet me. I could smell her drawing closer. I wanted her, but I wanted her to chase me. That made all the difference.

When I slowed, she pounced on me, in a clearing in the forest where the moon shone down on the two of us. Her beast was wilder than mine. Mine would always be feral, but he was tempered only slightly by countless full moons in which I had to teach my wolf the survival instinct. She would get better at it someday. There was a lot I could teach her and her wolf. For now, I just wanted to enjoy the time spent with my she-wolf.

I pushed myself up against her, throwing her down to the ground as she threw me a moment before. I plunged my fangs into her neck, marking her like the hundred times before. Lycanthropy is spread through saliva, infecting the blood stream and lying dormant until it burned during the nights of the full moon. Once one is cursed, a second bite doesn't do anything. But it did sting.

My she-wolf squirmed against the cool grass underneath her as my lycanthropy surged through her once again. It was pain and pleasure in equal parts. I was trying to suggest to her to do it to me once or twice. I know I liked the experience.

The both of us calmed down as we embraced under the full moon. She kissed and licked my slightly furred face and I lapped up her blood trickling from her shoulder wound. Then I kissed her so she could taste her own blood. It seemed to excite her, and the excited almost made her feel self-conscious.

"I love and I hate what you did to me," she said.

"I know, and I'm sorry. But we're here now."

"Yes," she said, grinning, "We are."

We rolled around on the grass and expressed our passion to each other. I simply could not have been able to do as much to another human. I had to do it to another she-wolf. With no such werewolf around, I had to curse someone. I had to pass on my lycanthropy. Her resentment faded with each time our wolves mingled, but it was still there. I only hope someday she can forgive me.

All night long we played in the forest, sating our hungers with a pair of rabbits we had cornered in the distance. There was some playful experimenting every now and then. A tugging at my manhood, a rubbing of her sex, and some furious lovemaking when our wolves spun out of control in a torrent of passion and instinct. Much of the time, however, we just laid with each other, petting each other and letting our bodies rub together, our fur tangling up.

"I still don't know if I can live like this," she said to me.

I stroked her fur as her head rested on my chest. We looked up at a sky that was beginning to brighten after a long night.

"I thought we have fun together."

"We do. I just...want to be able to control myself. And sometimes, the werewolf inside of me is too strong for that to happen."

I lifted her off me, and I looked right at her. "You can control it. I can help you. But you need to let her out sometimes, too, and you can always do that with me. We can do it together."

The she-wolf shied away. "I don't know."

It felt like she was slipping away from me, so I grabbed her and hugged her. I comforted her head on my shoulder. "It's okay. I'm here. Just let me be with you."

We embraced for a long moment, until we felt it happen. As my hand traveled up and down her back, I could feel some of her fur begin to fall away from her skin. I looked at her face and began to see her features soften. Sure enough, it was happening to me as well. The wolf was tired, and needed to rest for the next full moon.

"I need to go," she said.

"Wait!" I said instinctively. I held her wrists, and I didn't want her to leave. She was transforming back, and I wanted to see her as a human. More importantly, I wanted her to see me.

"I can't," she pleaded, "I can't let you see me like this."

My grip was strong, but I didn't want to force her. She broke away from me and went running in the opposite direction, toward her home. She left a steady trail of fur behind that flew in the air and seemed to reflect in the bit of morning light.

I could feel my own body becoming smaller, weaker, shedding the fur I had grown when the moon rose hours ago. I wasn't far from home, but I hurried back before I had turned fully human again.

The last of my wolf softened in my backyard, and I was full nude and self-conscious in the moment I was in public view until I stepped back into my house. The werewolf was put away for the day. He would play again soon enough.

I showered and dressed, and before I knew it, it was eight o'clock. The day had already begun.

I haven't slept at all since yesterday, but I don't need any sleep. I clock back into work full of energy, a gift from my wolf for letting him out during the full moon. Usually I need two cups of coffee just to get through an uneventful morning at the office. On the mornings after my change, I have to hide the fact that I'm coursing with life. It feels real good to unleash myself after spending most of the month as a human. It feels...different.

I know it, and so does Emily.

"Morning, Bryan," she said to me, all smiles.

I look up as she puts papers down on my desk for me to look at. "You must have had a good night," I said, glancing down at the expense reports she gave me. But I couldn't help but notice how she kept her hair down. She always keeps this look for a few days until the attention fades. Or rather, as the moon wanes. Then it's back up, and she becomes her old self. As I will. I'll go back to wearing glasses in a week and to wearing larger shirts as the hungers of my wolf, but not his metabolism, catch up with me. Until then, we enjoy the afterglow of being werewolves.

"I just stayed at home. You know me," Emily said.

"That's too bad. Look...if you're free after work, I'd love to have coffee with you. I figured I'd have an early evening."

That made Emily blush, as I knew it would. Not because she would be flattered - and she was - but she knew she'd have to decline. The second night of the full moon would begin in less than eleven hours anyways.

"You know what?" I said, sparing her from the discomfort of having to say no, "It's fine, there's a game tonight on TV."

"I'm sorry," she said.

"Anyways."

We exchanged smiles and she let me work on the papers for a moment.

"How about this weekend?"

I looked up again. Quite brave for her to ask. She never asked. Or maybe it was her werewolf talking. The moon still pulled at us, and it would be Saturday only two days after the last full moon. Let the wolves out to play for another night?

"Yeah," I said, "Let's talk about it tomorrow. I know a place not far from here."

Emily's cute smile turned into a grin. A girlish smile that was all hers, nothing to do with the werewolf. And I was happy to see it. Satisfied, she let me return to my work. I watched her leave, examining the marks on her neck, left on her skin from the night before, partly concealed by the unrevealing top she was wearing today.

She doesn't know it was me who turned her. She doesn't know that I wanted her so bad, that I gifted her with a wolf of her own. She doesn't recognize me on the full moon. Her wolf isn't yet strong enough to pick up my scent the way I can pick up hers. One day she'll know. Before then, I'll have to tell her. Maybe then she'll feel comfortable enough with me to let her wolf out. Someday she'll really let me in. Maybe then she'll forgive me. Until then, it's coffee and a movie this Saturday, and a more playful romp every full moon.
