Seradd was a 22-year old squirrel living on the beautiful forest planet Silvania. He had been raised by his 54-year old father Fengle and adoptive mother Noraxia, a Cygnan mammalian dragon, who's species is often abbreviated Cygnagon.

Fengle was visiting Seradd's new cottage. "Son, there is something very important I need to tell you," said Fengle. "Noraxia has been at edge lately anticipating the return of her daughter."

"Wait..." said Seradd. "I have a sister?"

"In a manner of speaking, yes," said Fengle. "Noraxia had a daughter named Persephone who disappeared in a portal to the planet Cygnus Prime two hundred and sixty-eight years ago. That portal is to re-open very soon."

"Well, what are you waiting for, father?" asked Seradd. "Let's go to this place."

Fengle and Seradd hopped onto Noraxia, and she flew them to the meadow where her daughter had vanished long ago. They brought camping supplies with them, because they knew they may have to wait a while for the portal to open. After about a 2 minute flight, they dismounted their loyal steed.

"Well, this is the place," said Fengle. "At least according to the writings of Figbert."

"Figbert was very wise," said Seradd.

"Indeed," said Fengle. "He knew everything there is to know about Cygnan Mammalian Dragons, especially the females of the species."

Noraxia nodded and winked, as if agreeing. Because Noraxia was 508 years old, she knew their ancient Shaman Squirrel ancestors well, including Figbert.

It had been a few hours, and it was late in the afternoon. Noraxia had been dozing. "Hey, son, look," said Fengle, pointing to some flickering lights about 20 feet in the air.

"It's finally here," said Seradd. "Looks like it's getting bigger." Noraxia woke, and stared at the growing anomaly. The two shaman squirrels and the Cygnagon were too transfixed on the ambient object to notice another Cygnagon landing behind them. It was Zara, the mother of Noraxia.

The rider, an 88-year old squirrel, dismounted. "Zara and I wouldn't miss this for the world," said the rider, who was Great Elder Tass.

"Oh, I knew you'd come eventually, father," said Fengle.

The wormhole reached it's full size, and opened. Out came a Cygnagon with blue blazes just below her wings. "It's Persephone!" said Tass.

"And it looks like she's holding something," said Fengle. Persephone landed next to her mother Noraxia, and they nuzzled.

The wormhole was still open, and another Cygnagon zipped out. "Another one?" asked Seradd.

"I believe that's her daughter," said Fengle. "She likely reproduced on Cygnus Prime shortly after she arrived there."

"Looks like a third one is coming out!" said Seradd. Indeed, a third Cygnagon came out.

"I believe that's Persephone's granddaughter," said Fengle. "She had plenty of time over there to become a mother and a grandmother."

"And a great grandmother," said Tass. "Look what the last one is holding."

They looked to see a small baby dragon clutching the teats of the third dragon.

"I haven't seen so many Cygnagons together in my entire life!" said Seradd.

There were a total of 6 Cygnagons, representing 6 generations. "Me neither," said Tass. "Zara is now a great great great grandmother. I doubt she'll live to see another generation."

All the Cygnagons were grooming, nudging, and communicating with each other using various grunts and cooing sounds.

"Let's go see what Persephone brought," said Fengle, approaching the blue-blazed Cygnagon. The huge flying beasts watched as the three Shaman Squirrels approached them. Persephone looked at the three shamans. She held out her front legs, holding what appeared to be a glowing green orb, and handed it to Seradd.

"I think she wants me to have this," said Seradd. "What is it?"

"The gift," said Fengle.

"What does it do?" asked Seradd.

"From the look of it, she's about to show you," said Fengle.

Persephone squatted down to allow Seradd to ride her. "Okay, girl, let me tell you where my cottage is."

Then Seradd heard what sounded like a female voice whispering in the wind: 'I know where you live; I can read you.' Persephone took off toward Seradd's cottage.

Was this a telepathic link? Seradd asked himself.

'You can say that,' said the voice.

"Persephone, is that you?" asked Seradd out loud.

'It is indeed,' she said telepathically.

"This telepathy," said Seradd. "Is that the gift my father was talking about?"

'It's just something extra,' said Persephone. 'I'll show you. You will want to hold on tight.' When they were getting close to the cottage, Persephone flew in an elaborate dance, doing circle eights and other tricks. Holding on to her mane tightly, it had occurred to Seradd that this is the dance a female Cygnagon does when she found a mate.

Persephone landed in front of Seradd's cottage, and the squirrel dismounted. He examined Persephone, admiring the blazes of blue fur just below her wings. "You are one beautiful girl," said Seradd.

'Why thank you,' Persephone thought to him. 'I know you've always wanted my kind as a mate.' Seradd had been raised by his squirrel father and foster Cygnagon mother who mated frequently, so he thought it was normal for squirrels and Cygnagons to have relationships.

"Yes, that's true," said Seradd. "I was hoping one day I would find the right Cygnagon for me."

'You found her,' said Persephone.

Seradd started to try telepathy. 'You mean... It's you?' he asked.

'Yes,' said Persephone. 'And it is time for my next mating cycle. I am in estrus.'

Seradd had read a book called "How to Please Your Dragoness," written by his nine-greats grandfather Figbert over 2 centuries ago. He understood, but not fully, about the sexual needs of Persephone's species. He needed to mate with her now, even though they just met. He was nervous, due to the fact she was roughly 30 times his weight.

Persephone lay down on her side. Seradd started suckling on Persephone's lower teats, which contain an enzyme that helps her mate produce more sperm. After his fill, he took a short nap in front of his giant new mate's teats, and she put her front leg and wing around him in a cuddling embrace.

Seradd woke up to Persephone's alluring, needing scent. 'Please, breed me,' said Persephone. The cuddling had aroused Seradd, and he got up, and walked toward Persephone's winking, inviting vulva. He looked down, and was amazed at how large his testicles grew after drinking Persephone's sweet nectar. He knew that when males of her species, or other species for that matter drank the fluid from the lower teats, his testicles will grow due to containing more sperm.

Seradd inserted his erect squirrel member into Persephone's gaping love canal. He moaned when feeling the intense ripples and warmth of his new lover. With each spurt of feminine juices she gave him, Persephone let out a groan of orgasmic pleasure. Since he was so much smaller, he was only able to reach the horn on her hip. She petted him with her wing and his tail curled around hers while they were making love.

"Oh, yes," said Seradd. "You're perfect." He kept thrusting in and out, in perfect harmony with Persephone's pulsating rhythm that embraced his male squirrelhood. She was the one he was longing for. He remembered having inappropriate feelings for Noraxia, but respected the fact she was his father's mate. But now, Persephone was his. It seemed beautifully strange, since he thought of her as his sister because the female Cygnagon who raised him was her mother. She in a way was his older, much larger sister. But that did not matter. What mattered was his immediate connection with this large, beautiful beast. Seradd let out one last moan before stream after stream of squirrel sperm gushed deep into Persephone. Panting from sexual relief, Seradd collapsed on Persephone's hip as he held himself inside her.

'My little mate,' said Persephone. She nudged Seradd, encouraging him to lay down in front of her to cuddle again.

It was late evening, so Seradd fell fast asleep under Persephone's wing. He dreamed of a long future with his enormous new mate, and all the possibilities, the exploring, the adventures.

The next morning, he woke to find Fengle visiting him in his yard. "What are you doing here, father?" Seradd asked. "This is a private moment."

"Sorry to intrude," said Fengle while Seradd got dressed. "I see that you found love. I'm surprised that you got attached to her so quickly."

"I am too," said Seradd.

"I came to let you know that Great Elder Tass and I took the liberty of naming the other Cygnagons who came through the portal," said Fengle.

"That's great," said Seradd.

"Persephone's daughter is now called Tatydra," said Fengle. "Her granddaughter is Sarima, and her baby great-granddaughter is Varada."

"Are we going to be able to bond with all of them?" asked Seradd.

"Eventually, yes," said Fengle. "But there are villages and tribes who could probably find them to be very helpful. Great Elder Tass knows of a few."

"Were you able to communicate telepathically with the Cygnagons?" asked Seradd.

"No, why would you ask that?" said Fengle.

"Persephone can communicate with me," said Seradd.

"That must be the gift," said Fengle.

"No," said Seradd. "Persephone told me that was just extra. The gift is something else. Persephone, would you please tell us what the gift is?"

'Of course,' said Persephone. 'I'm pregnant with your offspring. I felt the sperm fertilizing my eggs.'

"But that's impossible," said Seradd.

"Did she say something?" asked Fengle. "I didn't hear anything."

"She only has the telepathic connection with me," said Seradd. "She says she's pregnant with my offspring."

"How can that be?" asked Fengle.

Persephone kept communicating with Seradd, and he was telling Fengle what she said. "She says the offspring will have the capability of shapeshifting between the species of both parents," said Seradd. "Namely, me and her."

"In other words," said Fengle, "the offspring will be a squirrel who can shape shift into a Cygnagon."

"Yes," said Seradd. "And be an intermediate hybrid between if desired."

"So that's the gift," said Fengle.

"Yes, father," said Seradd. "Our shaman squirrel descendants no longer have to mate with another squirrel to continue the line. To continue the line, a Shaman Squirrel can now mate with any species they want, so long as they are in the squirrel form when they're mating. They can also mate with other species outside the squirrel form, and produce other offspring if they wish."

"If only that capability was there from the beginning," said Fengle. "That would have saved us Shaman Squirrels from a lot of trouble."
