#10 of The Changing of Times and People
Outside the compound, in the middle of the night, a group of men armed with MC-51's were looking at each other. "We sure we know where the primary targets are?" One asked a guy with a map.
"According to their schedule, today is their day off, both of them should be in the cottage." The guy with the map replied. "As long as we stick to the route, the guards won't see us, and we'll be in and out in only a few minutes."
"Commander, are we allowed to fire on the guards?" Another man asked.
"Only if fired upon, we are here to kill the non human scum, most of the guards are humans, those who aren't we aren't going to look for. We just want to get rid of those two who can change other people."
A female walked up behind them. "Leave that Danica girl alive if possible. I want to have a word with her and what she did to me."
"Yes sir, doctor Hiecht." The commander said. "If at all possible we'll retrieve that girl."
Unbeknownst to the six men and one woman who were planning an attack, another person was trying to sneak onto the compound, this girl though had no ill will, and in fact just wanted to meet the girls. She'd been trying for nearly six months but each time she was denied a visit, apparently ever since Doctor Hiecht escaped from the prison he was spending his sentence in for raping Danica at the beginning of the quarantine, the security had been increased and no outside visitors were allowed onto the compound. The group of attackers were on the move, moving swiftly towards their target, approaching Danica and Launi's cottage. The girl was looking down on her body, the scene around here was standing still. A bright light suddenly lit behind her, when she turned to look at it the figure from Danica's dream was standing there.
"Who are you?" The girl asked.
"Mother." Was the figures answer.
"Am I dead?"
"Not yet, and maybe not for a long time. You were drawn to those two weren't you?"
The girl blushed, and nodded.
"The reason is more then you think." Hariti said smiling. "Your family, generations ago protected those I saw fit to bestow my gifts upon. And as such your ancestors were given powers. Powers locked deep in your body, powers that are awakening as we speak. Powers that will let you save them if you wish.
The girl shook her head. "What is this?"
"Destiny." Hariti said smiling. "Your destiny. The time has once again come that those who were chosen need to be protected, and you were heeding the call when this happened. So I ask you, do you want to protect them?"
The girl nodded. "Yes, but how? I do not understand what it is you are talking about."
Hariti smiled and walked up to her. "Your power is to take the shape you need to protect those two. You'll be able to move faster then a cheetah, be stronger then a bear. You can be what you want." She said before kissing the girl. "Now Stephanie, the choice is yours, protect them, or go to the afterlife. It is your to decide."
Stephanie smiled as she melted into the kiss, a wealth of knowledge, memories from thousands of years ago, her ancestors memories, flooded her mind. "I'll protect them, Mother Hariti, I'll keep them safe so they can help others."
Hariti smiled and released the girl. "Then go, protect them."
"Thank you mother." She said as Hariti retreated into the light.
The men were already at the door, one of them blew the lock clean off with a shotgun and then kicked the door open. The girls bed room light was on due to the commotion, but the rest of the house was still dark. The men started to charge in through the door, but the last one tripped and fell on something.
Stephanie woke up, her body felt lighter, different, fluid. She saw the men start to enter the house, and before she knew what happened, her lower body fused together, forming a serpents tail. "Don't you know its not safe to play with guns?" She asked before swatting the gun away from his hand and pinning him against a wall. Just as she pinned the man the compound security arrived and had their weapons trained on the black serpent they saw in front of them.
"Put your hands up." One said, his voice shaky when he saw the size of the serpent girl in front of him, her tail was easily fifteen feet long, and its tip was flipping back and forth slightly.
Stephanie smiled and put her hands up, the guy she had pinned fell to the ground. His pants were soiled and he was just blubbering.

The guards nodded and went to rounding up the mercenaries. "If you say Miss Nicole."
Nicole turned to Stephanie. "What is your name?" She asked as she looked at her.

"Least I could do after you saved us." Nicole said smiling.
Stephanie straightened. "Someone is still here." She said before turning and going out the door. It wasn't long until she dragged in Doctor Hiecht yelling and screaming about the monster. "I believe this is their leader."
Launi walked out. "Thank you for..." Her mouth dropped open. "That, it can't be, he was supposed to be in jail!"
Stephanie bowed. "Ma'am, I present the person who wanted to harm you."
"Thanks... I guess, Stephanie was it? Why are you bowing?"
"I am your humble protector." She said as she stayed bowing. "I am not worthy to gaze at you directly ma'am."
Launi shook her head. "You saved us, we don't even know you and you risked yourself for us."
"It is my duty as your protector." Stephanie said as Launi walked up to her, she gently put her hand on Stephanie's chin and raised her head.
"I'll have none of that. You are no different then me." She said as she kissed her on the lips. "I owe my life to you, as does Dani and Claus."
Hiecht looked at them. "Hey Freaks! I am still here!"
Doctor Kagan walked in on them with a few guards. "Someone told me you broke out." He said as a guard handcuffed Doctor Hiecht. Once she was no longer a threat Stephanie released her and the guards took her away. "Sorry for that miss." The guard who first confronted her said as he took away Doctor Hiecht.
Stephanie nodded and looked at Launi and then Danica as she walked out holding a sleeping Claus. "Stephanie I take it." Danica said looking at her. "I am sorry you had to go through that."

Doctor Kagan sighed. "I want to see you all in the morning though, I want to make sure you are all alright."
Danica nodded. "I know."

Danica nodded. "Its the least we can do since you risked your life for us."

Danica nodded. "We will wait till later for that.

Soon they were in Doctor Kagan's office, and other then a quick look over for the Danica, Launi and Nicole, nothing special was done. But when he got to Nicole he started to ask a few questions.
"How long have you been able to go formless like that?" Was his first question after making sure she was okay.
Steph shrugged. "I don't know... I just kind of woke up last night and was able to do that."
"Woke up?" Doctor Kagan asked.

"I saw what happened on the camera outside the cottage. You were shot, several times."
Steph's eyes lit up. "I was shot?"
"Yeah, and about a minute later you woke up and I saw this happen." He said before showing a tape of her changing into her lama form. "Quite interesting." He said as he turned it off. "You aren't like anything else. Mind if I just take a blood sample for now?"

Doctor Kagan pulled out a needle and put it in a vein, he inserted a vial into it and a black liquid filled the vial, once it was full he switched it out with a second vial and it too filled up with the black liquid. "Interesting" He said as he labeled the vials. "You aren't quite normal are you Stephanie?"
"I guess not," she replied as he pulled out the needle, her sleeve went back down her arm and she looked at the vials.
"Later after I look at these would you mind doing some tests for us?" Doctor Kagan asked.
"I guess." She said looking at the ground. "I mean as long as it doesn't hurt..."
"Nothing will hurt, I promise, and if you don't feel comfortable doing any test we will stop immediately." Doctor Kagan said. "And if you want someone present, we will allow it."
Steph nodded. "Okay, I'll do it." She said smiling.
"Thank you, girls I guess you can go and do what you want for today and as long as you want, you can wait as long as you want before coming back to work." Doctor Kagan said as he went to let them out. "Just rest and relax, and don't worry about that pain in the ass Doctor. She is in confinement on the grounds, and this time she won't be getting out of her room without being knocked out. A special sedative injector, she can't take it off without it going off." The doctor said smiling.
Danica and Launi smiled. "That is good to hear." They said as they walked out, Steph and Nicole walked out behind them.
