James pulled out a silver coin now only having two coins left. “You’re Sasha’s mate aren’t you?” The clerk asked.

“I am, you must be Alestir’s is that correct?James asked back.

“I am, I heard yesterday was rough. Sasha got angry at Alestir”. The tall blonde hair and green eyed man said.

“It’s just politics dude, nothing to worry about. Sasha was just upset that things got political about her and I. Females get emotional easily”, James stated.

“A female dragon getting emotional, sounds dangerous... That’s why mine is a male”, the man chuckled.

“Sasha? Dangerous? No... She is way too kind to be dangerous. The thing with emotional females is, be silent as possible, but be there for them. Do that, everything is fine. James said.

“I’m Jacob”, the clerk said.

“Nice to meet you Jacob, James said as he shook Jacob’s hand.

“I hope you have no hard feelings towards Alestir for interrogating you yesterday”, Jacob said.

“None at all, he’s just doing what he thought was best. The nice thing is, a dragon knows when you tell the truth. Which means as long as you tell the truth, everything turns out ok”, James stated as he began to walk out the bookstore entrance.

James walked out to Main Street, and made his way towards the Tavern where Sasha is in front of. As he walked he saw Gillian and Alenia with a gold dragon bound in chains. Alenia looked at James and she saw a look of rage on his face and James reached for something behind his back.

“Kalaix!” James exclaimed as he drew his revolver.

“Shit! James! Don’t!” Alenia exclaimed!

James pulled the trigger and a bullet struck Kalaix right between the eyes. Kalaix dropped to the ground.

Alenia pinned James down...

“James, you are under arrest for assault, murder, and obstruction of justice”, Alenia said as she moved for his feet to swallow him. Alenia then swollowed James, placing him in her storage pouch.

Several minutes passed and Kalaix came back to consciousness and Alenia inspected the head wound. The bullet broke scales on his forehead and Kalaix was a little disoriented. He then vomited, which is a clear indication of a concussion. Aside from that, he is alive and the bullet did not penetrate his skull.

James has been sitting in a human sized cell in jail for for many hours.

Finally, a werewolf opened James’s cell gate.

“It’s your lucky day Human, someone has paid your bail”, the guard said.

“Fuck... Sasha must be pissed”, James thought to himself.

“Even whith murder charges?” James asked.

“Alenia had the charge dropped. It takes much more than a handgun to kill a dragon, luckily for you”, the werewolf said.

James was led by the guard to the front jail office where he saw both Alenia and Sasha.

Both of them had a look of disappointment on them. Alenia threw one of the books James had bought at his feet.

“Looking for spell options to take down Kalaix?” Alenia asked.

“My guess it’s in my best interest not to talk to a cop right now”, James said.

“How about a friend?” Alenia said.

“Sure, when you’re off duty”, James replied.

“James... It’s ok... I’m not angry at you. But clearly you’re not thinking straight... Your way isn’t not the way to handle this... Come with me”, Sasha said.

Sasha walked into the tavern.

“Well James, looks like we both need a beer. What would the jail bird like?” Sasha said as she chuckled.

“Do they have the cell block special?” James said...

“Sasha laughed, oh James you’re always a crack up”, Sasha said.

“An ale”... James said not wanting a heavy beer at the moment.

“Brian, two ales. One quart sized for James”, Sasha said.

“I Lassie, one for the jail bird and the other for his lovely lady”, Brian said.

“How do you know I was in Jail?” James asked.

“Me lad, quite a ruckus you caused! Ya crazy bastard!” Brian said.

“Mess with me, I let karma do the work. Mess with my family, I am karma... Or well in this case attempted to be. Next time I’ll wait for an opportune moment with a better weapon and not react with tactless berserk behavior... Oh well... Learning lesson”, James said.

“Easay Laddie, ya get locked up for good, shove a glass up ur arse I will”, Brian said.

“Cool down and drink your ale, tiger. Five days of being here and I already had to bail your crazy ass out. Oddly enough it’s a turn on seeing you had the nerve to stand up for me regardless of consequence... But don’t do it again. I need you with me, not in Jail. Promise me you won’t do it again”, Sasha said.

“I promise”, James said as he kissed her on the cheek.

James took a sip of his ale in thought.

“I’m surprised I’m not getting chewed out”, James said.

“James, before murder charges where dropped, could you imagine what could have happened? That would have been bad had Kalaix died. I would have lost you. I am not angry. I’m glad you care more for me than your own life, I really am. But I need you with me, I need you alive and out of jail. Luckily, no laws are on the books for attempting murder. Here you either kill or don’t kill legally. If there was attempted murder cases, I probably wouldn’t be able to afford the bail amount. And even if I did? You’d still go to trial. Thankfully, for minor crimes of assault, and obstruction of justice is not merited for court trial if bail is paid”, Sasha said.

“You’re right, I wasn’t thinking clearly... I just saw him and well... I snapped”, James said.

“Understandably so... Yesterday was painful for us both... What we both had to deal with was something I never imagined having to deal with. But today, damn”, Sasha said and let out a loud sigh.

“I really could use a bath”, James said...

“Why?” Sasha asked.

“Because I now smell like Alenia’s breath”, James said.

“Yah that’s a problem we must fix. And new rule, you’re only allowed to smell like my breath. That includes avoiding getting arrested”, Sasha said.

James took the final sip of his ale and set the empty quart on the table.

“Brian! My human needs another one!” Sasha exclaimed.

“What?” James asked.

“Yah you had a rough day. I’m only half way through mine. We’ll go to the creek for you to bathe. I already hunted this morning so I can watch over you”, Sasha said.

Brian handed James another quart and moved to serve others.

James took another sip of Ale, beginning to feel a buzz come on.

“We must avoid Alenia and Gillian. They’ll surely arrest me again for intoxication”, James said.

“Sasha laughed, “we’ll avoid them”...

“If I get caught again, I’ll surely be building a rep sheet”, James said.

“James, the human outlaw of the clan”, Sasha said chuckling.

“Time to rob a bank... Go big or go home”, James said.

“Oh God!” Sasha exclaimed.

“Straight up Bonnie and Clyde status”... James said as he laughed.

“Yah you’re not going big on my watch, so.. Off to home you’ll go... I’m not a Bonnie”, Sasha said...

“I’m kidding”... James said...

“Fine”... Sasha said...

“Uh oh, sorry”... I’ll stop... James said...

Sasha gave James a toothy grin “you had a quart of beer and got slightly silly. Yet you know what fine means”, Sasha said.

James cringed realizing he found a button of hers he really shouldn’t push.

“Yah you’re not a fool! You just do all the wrong things right!” Sasha said laughing...

Helliz made enterance in the tavern and saw James with Sasha.

Helliz’s blood began to boil at their presence as he stared at the two. James noticed the dragon just staring at them silently.

“Sasha”, James said softly as he elbowed her.

“Look who is at the entrance staring at us. But be discrete when you look”, James said.

“Shit”... Sasha said softly...

“Who he is? I don’t know. But I feel he’s trouble”, James said.

You’re not wrong, James. He’s one of those skin and scale don’t mix types.

“Skin and scale?” James asked.

“Human and dragon... He doesn’t oppose Alestir and his mate. But a male human with a female is competition and male dragon and male human is not competition. Sasha said.

“Well, you kind of failed to mention that at the river”, James said.

“Eh I hinted, but you never asked for details. I said you’d get along with most of the clan... Not all of them”, Sasha replied.

“Fair enough”, James said...

James gave a crooked smile...

“James... What are you thinking?” Sasha asked...

“Nothing... Nothing at all”, James said trying to hold his laughter...

“James, you’re up to something sense you’re trying to hold in a laugh”, Sasha said...

“You’ll see”, James said as he finished his drink...

Helliz walked past by James and Sasha. James paid no attention to the dragon. As Helliz passed, he slapped James with his tail...

“Helliz! Knock it off!”, Sasha screamed.

Helliz paid no attention to Sasha.

“No worries, I’ll get him back... Passive-aggressively”, James said.

“What will you do?” Sasha asked.

“Let’s pay for the drinks”, James said.

Sasha coughed some coins and Brian made a scowling face not liking the fact Sasha keeps coins in her storage pouch in her throat.

“Now what?”Sasha said.

James began kissing Sasha and Helliz saw them Kissing.

Helliz let out a growl in disgust.

As James and Sasha made there way to the enterance, James reached back and grabbed the back of Sasha’s hip.

Sasha had a look of shock... “Human, you’re bad! Keep it up and I’ll eat you”! Sasha exclaimed.

I’d like that... So long as I’m naked”, James said intentionally letting Helliz hear what he said.

In utter disgust, Helliz could not drink the beer infront of him. He roared and threw the glass mug on the ground and shattered it.

“Helliz! Pay for that mug you will! Behave you will or I’ll kick ur scaly arse out! Brian yelled.

“I’m confident that behavior of ours got under his scales... We’ll just let that sink in his head. He will get more and more angry as he continues to think about what he has seen”, James said as he got on Sasha’s back to take a bath.

“So you choose to add wood to the fire”, Sasha said as she flew James to the creek.

“Exactly, that’s the only way to get them back as they keep up their bullshit”, James replied.

“You sure love to retaliate, that’s how you also escalate it”, Sasha said.

“The longer we stay together the more it will escalate with the hatters regardless of what we do or what we don’t do. It doesn’t matter either way, Sasha. My actions matter less than you think”, James said.

“As crazy as you sound, it actually makes sense”. Sasha said as she landed to the creek in the woods.

“You gotta stand up to those who hate you. If you don’t do it now, you will do it later and it won’t be on your terms. You might as well stand up for yourself and your mate. The consequences of not doing it... You loose respect which means you loose those who have your back. Sense I can’t retaliate physically without breaking laws and going to jail, and loosing Gillian and Alenia’s respect, what’s your opinion on attacking their opinions, even attacking them psychologically”, James said.

“Well look at you becoming a little savage”, Sasha said.

“My love, you have no idea”, James said.

as he got undressed at the creek.

“Scrub yourself good. I don’t want Alenia’s scent on you at all”, Sasha said.

“It’s not like I enjoyed getting arrested. Truth is her breath stinks”, James replied.

“I’ve noticed... You can’t taste good if you smell of someone else’s stinky breath”, Sasha said giving a toothy grin.

“You’re the only predator who could eat me and make me enjoy it. Rest assured on that, James said as he finished washing himself.

“Run human!” Sasha bade as she moved in a pouncing position.

“I’m not even dressed”, James said.

“Run now!” She roared swaying her tail side to side.

James grinned and obliged Sasha by running.

Unlike most being hunted, James was running grinning ear to ear. After letting James run for a few minutes, Sasha took flight to find him.

“I wish I had my clothes to trick her nose”, James thought to himself as he searched for a hiding place.

As James was searching for a hiding place, he felt something push him to the ground really hard.

“Got you, you human filth”, a masculine voice said.

James’s heart jumped up his throat. The dragon released James from his claws.

“Get up, look at my face before you die. The voice said close to James’s left ear. James grabbed a stick next to his right hand, he turned and thrusted the stick in the dragon’s left eye.

The dragon roared and took several steps back.

“Shit! Sasha! Sasha help!Saaaaasssshhhaaaaa!” James screamed as he ran.

Sasha heard James scream and she dove down to gain speed to get to James.

The dragon fought off the pain of being stabbed in the eye and shook his head several times. He then ran after James.

“Saaaassshhhhaaaaa! Help meeee!” James screamed again.

Sasha saw a silver dragon chasing James.

She slammed against the dragon and the two rolled as Sasha scratched him and bit him on the neck. The dragon roared. Being one and a half times the size of Sasha however, he threw her off quite quickly. Sasha shifted her body in a crescent shape and cocked her tail back. She swung the end of her tail and struck the dragon in his side and the dragon roared. He then lunged at her with his claws, but Sasha’s reflexes where much faster. She swung her tail and hit him in the ribs again creating a loud thumping sound and a cracking sound from ribs breaking.

“James is mine Helliz”, Sasha said.

“You should have been mine! Come on Sasha, don’t you want to have offspring? Skin and scale don’t mix”, Helliz said.

Sasha swung for Helliz’s head and he ducked, avoiding a potentially lethal blow to the head. He lunged forward and headbutted Sasha in the chest, knocking her on her back. Helliz raised his claw’s about to strike her. Sasha spewed flames in his face, distracting him long enough

for her to get out of the disadvantaged position Helliz had her in. She swung her tail again, this time she struck him in the head and knocked his left horn clean off his head. As Helliz roared in pain, Sasha took the opportunity of getting another strike. She swung and hit him in the lower jaw and a loud cracking noise was heard as she broke his jaw.

She took another swing and struck him between the eyes. Helliz fell to the ground breathing heavily.

“Traitor”, Helliz managed to whisper.

“Traitor? When I was an adolescent, I had no friends! You and others would pick on me, call me ugly because my head was bigger than my body. Make fun of the scales on my tail saying it made me look hideous. Now I’m grown look at me now. You and others wanted me now because you find me attractive. Oh you’re a real piece of work Helliz. James here fell in love with me because of me. He is the one who said it’s not what I am, it’s who I am he loves. And I’ll kill anyone who tries to take that from me! This is my life, I’ll live with a mate like James. I also chose him as a mate those who disrespect that by trying to kill him will meet your fate”, Sasha said as she struck him in the head once more as Helliz’s skull caved in and his eyes came out of its sockets. He took two breaths then stopped breathing.

Sasha broke in tears...

James approached Sasha and hugged her.

“I almost lost you”, Sasha said as she continued crying.

“But you didn’t. I got him in the eye, never thought I could run through the woods barefoot that fast... Bought you time for you to get him before he got me”, James said.

“Can you run that fast as I hunt you?” Sasha said...

“Well Sasha I don’t think you can cause that much adrenaline to flow in my veins I trust you too damn much”, James said and laughed.

“Yah you have a point. That’s a shame... I’d love to chase a human running as fast as you did”, Sasha said with a toothy grin.

Yah that toothy grin... Your big teeth don’t scare me either”, James said hugging her.

“Oh great, my prey is desensitized”, Sasha said chuckling.

“Can we go home... My adrenaline rush is over and I’m crashing”, James said as he yawned.

“Yes we can. However we must get your clothes so you aren’t going through town naked”, Sasha said.

“Sounds like a plan”, James said
