Part 1: Five years before Akari's arrival...
Clover had always had a fascination with the world around her. Though she wasn't at this point old enough to earn her keep, she'd still get into all sorts of trouble. Today was no exception. Today she wanted to explore more of what the mirelands had to offer.
Born to a single mother in the Diamond Clan, she has seen countless amounts of the pokemon around the settlement, like Rhyhorns and Paras. The people there, including her mother, would make her stay there, as they believed it was too dangerous for a kid. That didn't stop her from sneaking out from time to time to explore.
This time around, she was further than she ever was, on the west side of the Gapejaw Bog. She saw an alpha Pachirisu in the distance, but knew better than to bother it. She was paying too much attention to the alpha to notice the Bibarel with a mangled tail looking at her. She was briefly startled as she noticed it while it was running in circles around her. Being brought up to fear Pokemon, she initially thought to run, but calming down, she saw the happy smile on the beaver's face. Donning a smile as well, she then offered it an oran berry, which the Bibarel happily scarfed down. At that moment, she made a friend with a beast that she didn't quite understand. Sitting against a tree, they enjoyed each other's company while time passed.
Eventually, the human knew it was time to head back. Waving it goodbye, she started to walk back, but unsurprisingly, the Bibarel followed. At first, she kept trying to kindly send it away, knowing what the village's reactions would be. It became clear to her however that the Bibarel would not leave her side. Not wanting to resort to less kind methods, she was forced to bring the beaver back to the settlement.
As she approached the village, her heart sank when she saw her angry mother standing outside of it
"Clover, where have you been? Don't you know it's dangerous?" The mother then noticed the Bibarel, now behind Clover, and then Clover said, "There may be some dangerous Pokemon, but look at this beaver-like Pokemon I found. It had every opportunity to harm me, but instead it was kind to me. I was hoping an exception can be made for this cute beaver!"
The worried mother didn't seem to listen to her words, the parent's eyes widening seeing the potentially dangerous Pokemon near her daughter. Quickly gathering some stones in her hand, she proceeded to pelt the Bibarel with them until it ran off. "Leave my daughter alone", "don't come back" she said, all while Clover was pleading with her mother to stop.
Clover sobbed as she saw the beaver run off with a scared expression on its face. Being upset, she demanded "how could you have done this? It didn't do anything wrong!"
Her mother, now calm, replied, "I can't let anything happen to you, like when that ice monster killed your father. The world out there is cruel. Sometimes you have to be cruel as well to survive"
Clover couldn't accept this, retorting "You're wrong! You're too blind to see that not all Pokemon are cruel!". Wanting to reconcile with her Bibarel friend, she opted to run after it, not paying attention to her mother's calls. The beaver was fast, and Clover couldn't really keep up. Though she quickly lost sight of the quick beaver, she knew it was heading in the direction of its home.
She wasn't ready for the sight she was about to see. She was horrified as she saw the familiar mangled tail of the beaver hanging out of the giant Pachi's maw. She could only stare in shock as she saw the writhing beaver's head sink down the squirrel's neck. She wasn't sure she could save the Bibarel from the hungry squirrel, thinking she might be fatally electrocuted, or might join the Bibarel. She certainly wasn't brave enough to separate the squirrel from its meal. Instead, she backed away, with eyes fixed on the horrific sight.
When she saw her mother again, the first thing she did was embrace her, sobbing uncontrollably. In Clover's mind, her mother was in a sense right. The world is cruel.
Part 2: Present day...
"Good work Sage! We showed those idiots!" Clover and her Abomasnow have just escaped from raiding a traveler's cart. Sage was the distraction, while Clover carefully took stuff from their mark's cart.
Clover then noticed that the Abomasnow had a few scratches. In their getaway, the traveler's Pikachu noticed her, but right as it was about to tackle Clover, Sage defended her friend, taking the blow. It was close, but they got away with a decent plunder.
Clover took out a medicinal leek, and applied it to Sage's wounds, and said "I'm sorry for putting you in harm's way. Would you prefer we find different ways of stealing stuff" to which Sage shook her head, looking determined.
They've been running grifts like this for around 7 years at this point, and they got enough to get by. Although the two are forced to work together to survive, they are not burdens to one another, but rather they're the closest of friends.
They chilled out for a while in the icelands, and then they heard someone giggle in the direction of the Avalanche Slopes. Although the duo didn't need more supplies, they were nevertheless curious. So they went to the slopes and hid behind a rock close to the commotion.
They were shocked to see Akari and her alpha Sylveon Usagi having a snowball fight. Akari had recently beaten Clover without seemingly any reason as to why, and so Clover had a special fear and hatred for her. Clover whispered to Sage, "how dumb do they have to be to frolic around like this? How about we teach these bastards a lesson?" to which Sage nodded.
Jumping out from behind the rock, the Abomasnow immediately throws an Energy Ball on Akari, which immediately knocks her out. Usagi's first instinct is to see whether her friend is alright, but before she could properly check, she is caught off guard with an Iron Tail from the Abomasnow, which caused the Sylveon to slowly fall to her side. Clover had taught the Abomasnow that move for one reason: revenge.
Unable to do anything, Usagi can only observe as Clover says with a smirk, "Sage, use Energy Ball," pointing to Akari. This caught Sage off guard. She knows how cruel Clover can be to people, but she didn't think that Clover would be fine with murder. Sage signals to Clover, "do you really want this?" to which Clover says "this duo has been a thorn in my side for long enough." Sage acquiesces while Usagi watches as she fires another Energy Ball at Akari, to which Usagi can't help but whimper.
Before the Abomasnow could use a third Energy Ball, an Infernape attacks her with a fiery Raging Fury, knocking out Sage. Clover looks over to see Rei with one of his poke balls in hand. Rei, already seeing this scenario before, but also seeing his friend out cold, says to Clover "We wanted to help you, but instead you continue to scourge the people of the land and now you do the unthinkable. Leave before my Infernape breaks your neck." to which Clover takes her Abomasnow and flees.
Looking back to Akari and Usagi, Usagi is starting to be able to move again, and she desperately tries to make sure he's alive. Neither Usagi or Rei know if Akari is gone, but Rei says "Collect yourself, and let's bring her back to the town to see if we could help her there." With Akari on the Sylveon's back, Usagi and Rei then hurry to the town.
Part 3: A year after Akari's arrival
"Pecha, I'm sorry, but I can't take care of you anymore." The alpha Eevee stared at her owner confused. "You keep on getting into trouble everywhere, and I'm afraid you'll get us into trouble we can't get out of". With those words, Pecha's owner released her into the Obsidian Fieldlands.
At first, she was in complete denial. For a week or so, she would wait in the places that they commonly went, hoping her owner would show up, but to no avail. But eventually, she accepted that her owner didn't want her. As a result, she became bitter, not trusting humans and hating them.
As an alpha Eevee in the wild, she didn't have trouble making ends meet. Most Pokemon feared her when they saw her, and the few who didn't were defeated because of her high level and resilience.
One day, Pecha was looking for a pokemon to munch on, and saw a Buizel in the open in the Horseshoe Plains. She picked up the scent of a human, but she didn't fear them, as she was the one that'd scare them. Hiding behind the rock, she was about to pounce on the Buizel, but then a Poke Ball hit the Buizel, and it didn't escape. She has heard of Pokemon being captured by these spheres before, but this was the first time she's seen Poke Balls with her own eyes. She hated humanity's desire to capture Pokemon, just for the same humans to abandon them when they're no longer convenient. Not only was she mad at her dinner getting taken, but also that it was taken by a human.
Akari was too focused on picking up the ball with the Buizel in it to notice the Eevee charging up Double Edge. She did notice in the nick of time though, and was able to jump out of the way. And thus the Eevee and the human were face to face, with Pecha having malice in her eyes. Pecha was expecting a fight between the Pokemon that Akari had versus herself, but instead Akari offers an oran berry.
Akari did this gesture as an offer of friendship, but Pecha was insulted, feeling condescended to and feeling treated as a pet. So she used Double Edge again, while the rage within her made her ignore the strain on herself that another usage of Double Edge gave her. Akari got the point, and fled the scene, taking the Poke Ball with her.
While Pecha felt that the human got some sort of comeuppance, she still felt that she had unfinished business with Akari. Pecha didn't believe Akari learned her lesson, given the insult with the oran berry and that she got away with the Buizel. So Pecha would make it a mission to follow Akari around and attack her from time to time.
Each attack went the same: Pecha would use her hate-fueled Double Edge, regardless of whether she was seen or not. At times, she would hurt Akari, but every time, Akari would take out an oran berry and offer it to Pecha, who would attack again, and Akari would have to flee. However, the Eevee was starting to notice that Akari didn't hate her, but instead was trying to be kind. But still, this wasn't enough to get Pecha to stop seeking vengeance
At one point, Pecha attacked Akari again, but this time, she was with other people. Because there were children among them, Akari had to protect them from the reckless Eevee. Akari warned her "this is not the place for this, you might hurt someone. If you don't stop, I'll have to knock you out." The Eevee smirked, and attacked with a Double Edge again, but this time, Akari brought out her Lilligant, and knocked out the Eevee swiftly with a Drain Punch.
Akari didn't leave the Eevee where she lay though. Instead, she told the people she was with to go on without her, and she brought back the Eevee to a base camp, letting her rest in a place where Akari will know she'll be safe. When the Eevee woke up, she noticed that Akari was watching over her, and attacked again. She expected Akari to be angry, but instead she wasn't, again offering an oran berry.
All of this kindness didn't make sense to Pecha. How could a dirty human using Poke Balls be so kind, caring for her while she was out cold? At that moment, she accepted that perhaps she's wrong about humans, and that they are creatures, like any Pokemon, and should be treated with kindness.
Pecha then accepted Akari's token of friendship, munching on the oran berry. As Akari was going to leave, Pecha started to follow Akari. Pecha knew Akari was not like her previous owner, and she wanted to know how to be kind like her. Akari noticed Pecha following her, and showed Pecha a Poke Ball, offering to put Pecha in one. The Eevee refused, shaking her head, but nevertheless still followed. Before long, Akari was in front of the village, and Pecha wanted to go in with her. So Akari invited Pecha into her quarters.
When they both were settled in, Akari said "what do you think of the name Usagi?" to which the Eevee nodded.
Part 4: Present day
Akari was being tended to by doctors in the village, while Rei and Usagi were watching. Akari had a pulse, but no one was sure if she'd keep that pulse. The multiple Energy Ball shots did a number to Akari. Over time, and as things started to look worse, the Sylveon's demeanor changed from sorrow to anger.
Rei noticed this, and said "it's okay to be upset. However, as a wise man once told me, it is important to see with eyes unclouded by hate. Clover has had a rough life, and her Abomasnow did what she did to please her friend. It's not surprising they'd go this far, but at the same time, what they did was unacceptable"
Knowing what Charm and Coin told her about Clover, she knew that both Clover and herself have pasts of isolation and violence, but she couldn't look past what Clover had done. She wanted vengeance. Besides, to her, Clover is a danger to everyone around her.
Meanwhile, Clover was alone in the Coronet Highlands. After the brutal beating of Akari, a rift formed behind Sage and her, with Sage feeling an immense amount of guilt, but Clover not thinking much of her actions. The Abomasnow needed a bit of time on her own to sort things out, and they parted ways on amicable terms.
Sage and Clover have been absolutely inseparable for the past few years. It's the first time they've been separated for such a length of time. All she had were her thoughts. The prevailing thought she had was whether or not her Abomasnow was okay. She then had a thought. Is this what Akari's friends must be feeling: sadness and grief for the person she likely murdered.
Before she could think more, she saw a figure, which in the dead of the night, looked like a demon with malice in its eyes. Before she knew it, she was knocked to the ground with a Magical Leaf. The figure came closer, and Clover realized that it was an alpha Sylveon that attacked her. It clicked that this was Akari's Sylveon, and that she wanted revenge.
The empathy Clover had was gone. When she saw the Sylveon prepare a Shadow Ball, Clover couldn't be less sympathetic to what she perceived to be a band of hypocrites, who preach kindness but seem the most bloodthirsty.
Knowing her time was up, Clover knew it was her last chance to speak her mind, so she did: "We aren't too different after all. We both do what we do to survive, no matter how cruel. And you're too blinded by the ideals of one maniacal fool to notice. You idiots don't even follow your own tenets!"
These words must have affected the Sylveon, as Usagi made the malicious ball fade. To Clover's dismay however, she watched in fear as the expression on the Sylveon's face turned from stoic with a tint of malice, to downright murderous. Usagi in her eyes had wanted to end the life of one of her foes mercifully, but now this wretched bandit had just called her best friend a maniacal fool. Usagi no longer cared about mercy, but about retribution.
In a quick motion, Usagi wrapped her ribbons around her, immobilizing her. Clover watched in shock and fear as Usagi opened her maw and shoved Clover's head into it. Clover didn't want to become food, so she started struggling, but the Sylveon was unfazed. Before pulling Clover in deeper, she made sure Clover didn't have any sharp objects on her, and threw the satchel she had on her back on the stone floor.
Previously, Usagi and Akari on occasion would plan out days where Akari would relax in Usagi's gut, so the Sylveon had quite a bit of experience with swallowing people whole. Although this was the first time attempting to eat a human other than Akari, she didn't care about the risks, but wanted Clover gone.
While the human was fruitlessly flailing her legs trying to escape, Usagi giggled and jammed Clover's head into her throat while tilting her own head up. The pain Clover felt from the hasty, hateful squeezes around her head caused the human to let out muffled screams, all while the fairy was purring due to feeling Clover's fear and hatred with her ribbons. Usagi could feel the imprints of the writhing human's face on her tiny neck, and it wasn't long before Clover felt in horror as the tightness around her head became more lenient. Knowing her head was in the gut, the panic set in further, causing her to flail her legs more and causing her to squirm in the fairy's throat. All the squirming did, however, was make it easier for the Sylveon to swallow her down further, and Clover winced as her form was being compacted into the tight space of the Sylveon's stomach, all while only parts of the legs remained. Wanting to finish off the rest of Clover, she focused, and started to take heavier gulps, making the human curl up more as the rest of her legs sank into her maw. Smiling with the legs bulging out of her cheeks, she took one final swallow, and they joined the rest of the helpless human.
Clover was madly kicking and punching to get out of the chamber, now filling with acids. All the struggles did was make imprints on the outside of the Sylveon's now unnaturally large midsection. The unaffected Sylveon, in the meantime, was walking around looking for a place to rest. Her stomach lining had the emotion-feeling properties of her ribbons, so she was able to relish in the terror and screams of Clover on a deeper level. She felt vindicated that this person she saw a blight would meet, in her eyes, a deserved slow and painful end. When she finally found a suitable cave, she began to doze off, while her gut slowly digested Clover.
While Usagi was asleep, it became apparent to Clover that the struggles weren't working. So as the acids were eating away at her, her own mortality also became apparent, and the hatred she felt subsided. She knew that Usagi probably wouldn't be able to hear her, but she wanted to get one thing off her chest.
Her final words were "please don't hurt my Abomasnow"
Part 5
Usagi was pleasantly surprised to arise in a beautiful field, where she seemed to be the only one around. Dancing around in it, she came across a sizable stack of her favorite kinds of berries.
While she couldn't help herself from munching on them, she did notice odd things about the berries. While they tasted amazing, all the berries had this dark red juice in them, which got all over the Sylveon's muzzle. As the juice would dry out, it would turn a dark green. It stung in this state, but it didn't bother Usagi.
As she had more and more berries, she noticed that she started hearing voices. And not just voices of random people, but also people she knew. She couldn't quite make out what they were saying just yet.
Eventually, after eating quite a few of the snacks, she noticed that she had a familiar weight to her, reminding her of Clover's end. She realized that the berries had human faces embossed on them, all looking terrified. The source of the voices became clear: her gut. There was blood on her muzzle.
The dried up blood, now acid, started to burn her skin, and also swell the ground. It wasn't long before she started to sink into the ground, not being able to move. Eventually, the ground had completely swallowed her up, and she found herself in a dark, tight chamber.
As this was happening, the voices became louder and more clear, so by the time she entered the chamber, she could hear them clearly, all while her flesh was burning away
"Murderer!"
"I told you that you'd get in trouble you couldn't get out of"
"Everyone is terrified to be around you"
"After all I taught you, you do this?"
"Please don't hurt my Abomasnow"
Usagi was jolted awake from the nightmare she had. Everything is alright, she told herself. When she stood on her legs, the extra weight reminded her that she had an entire human's mass inside of her. When she examined her belly, everything was soft in there, though there were some bones left. It was at that moment that something started rising from her stomach into the throat. When she hacked it up, it was the skull of the person she hated.
After disposing of the rest of Clover, she started contemplating what she had done. She kept trying to justify herself, thinking it needed to be done. But she knew that she chose a brutal way to do it. The ability to eat things whole was a skill she had learned, and she only used it when hungry or to comfort Akari. But she used it to snuff out the life of a human, whom Usagi should have had mercy on. She recalled how Akari had so much patience with her as an Eevee. Why didn't she show Clover mercy? But instead she took joy in vanquishing her, and now the strong emotions she felt from Clover haunted her.
She had gained a bunch of fat, distributed throughout her body. This had a profound effect on Usagi's sense of identity. She had a physical reminder of the bad decision she made, and as the flab swayed with every step she took, more and more guilt would arise. She pondered what she had become on the inside. Clover was, in a very literal sense, a part of her, but she wondered if she became Clover, acting out of self interest and hate. It was a haunting thought.
She also wondered what other people would view her as, if they found out, or even if they see the new weight. Would they cower in fear, treating her as some sort of demon? Would she essentially become one, with all her hate? And what would her beloved friend think of her? She reasoned that Akari would rightfully be disappointed in her. Would she be disgusted by Usagi's actions? Would she shun Usagi?
The thoughts were overwhelming to her, and she started to sob. The amount of guilt she felt was too much to bear. She then had a thought of what she could do to assuage some of her guilt. Digging through the remains, she found the bones that remained. Making a hole in the ground, she got to work burying these bones, making a makeshift grave for the human. She knew this wouldn't make her actions right, but she believed that Clover at least deserved some respect, and she needed to do this to feel somewhat alright with herself.
Part 6
Sage silently gasped in horror as Usagi was resting with a sizable bulge in her gut. Previously seeing the abandoned satchel and following Clover's now faint scent, she had confirmation that her friend was gone.
Sage had recently left Clover to deal with her issues, to what she thought would be a temporary thing. She felt an extreme amount of guilt for bringing Akari to the brink of death. Although she didn't particularly care for Akari, Usagi, or really anyone else other than Clover, murder was too far.
It became apparent to her what hatred can do to a creature. Sure, she wanted to please her friend, but if she didn't hate Akari, she wouldn't have shot Energy Balls at her. But when it came down to it, there was no excuse. She hated Akari and her Sylveon. She didn't want to do something like this again, so she resolved to live without hatred for others.
This was easier said than done however, because the Sylveon in front of her killed her best and only friend. She wanted to mash the Sylveon into dust with Iron Tail. And she probably could, too. She almost did, but then she had some sobering thoughts. If she did this, the cycle of hate and violence between most people she knew and herself would continue. Sage also didn't think that she would be able to forgive herself for murdering Usagi out of anger. As Clover's death was the result of her actions, Sage also felt she herself got what was coming, and she felt the anger she had should be directed at herself.
So instead, she calmed herself, and walked away, in order to collect herself. While walking around the highlands, she thought about what she had witnessed and what sorts of actions she could take that weren't fueled by hate. Hurting Usagi was out of the question. She figured, however, that Charm and Coin should know their sister was deceased. At the same time, she thought that it would be revenge if she implicated the Sylveon in her murder, knowing it might hold consequences for the Sylveon. While she could draw a Sylveon killing Clover, she elected to just tell them that Clover is gone.
After a quarter of the day, she went back to the cave and noticed the Sylveon awake, working on a grave of sorts. She thought it must be for Clover. But still she felt compelled to ask.
"What is that grave for?" said the Abomasnow in Pokemon speak, sending dread down the Sylveon's spine. Given the dream she previously had, she didn't dare lay a fireball on the Abomasnow. Terrified, she tried making excuses, even though she knew there was nothing she could say.
"Look, I know you ate Clover. I see her bones right there. I assume that grave is for her?" to which the Sylveon just nodded. Sage then said "I get it. The internal punishment you must feel outweighs any punishment anyone could give you. While I'm infuriated you killed my friend, I feel like that just makes us even. What I did to your friend was unforgivable, like what you did" to no response from the Sylveon.
"I'm going to bring Charm and Coin to this grave you have made. It's up to you whether you want to be here. You don't have to worry about me implicating you. I'll leave that to your discretion."
Part 7
"How long was I out for?" After two weeks of care from the doctors, Akari ended up being fine. The doctors surmised that as Energy Balls get their power from nature, which Akari respected, she ended up being spared. Rei was waiting at her side, and they hugged when she got out of the bed.
Akari was a little sad that her sylveon wasn't there, but it wasn't that big of a deal, as she thought she probably had something to do.
Akari then asked "anything i missed while I was out?" to which Rei said "that's what I wanted to talk about. Clover's Abomasnow came to the village, asking for Charm and Coin. The Abomasnow showed them Clover's grave. They asked her how Clover died, but they wouldn't say." A wave of sorrow hit Akari, as it sank in Clover would never end up turning a new leaf. She wanted Clover to become a better person, and she was hoping her own actions in the past didn't end up being a hindrance. Rei noticed this and said "you made a mistake in the past, and you learned from it. You're not the one to blame here"
Akari didn't believe him, but Rei continued, "I also want to inform you that Usagi left the village while you were out. There's some speculation that Usagi might have been involved in what happened. Usagi seemed upset when you were out, and given that she hasn't returned, some people fear the worst"
"You think she murdered Clover?"
"I know the two sisters have jumped to that conclusion. I for one want to have an open mind."
"I will then look for her. I have a hard time believing she would do such a thing, but it's not fully out of the question"
Part 8
It had been a week since Usagi had made a grave for Clover. She opted to leave the cave Clover was buried in when she was done making it. She was now out in the wild, with all her guilt.
She had less extra weight, though it was still easily recognizable. Part of the reason it was disappearing was because she had a hard time getting herself to eat. She was in the mirelands, when she started to feel guilt while swallowing a Pachirisu. Every motion she made and each struggle inside reminded her of the malice she had when swallowing Clover, and she couldn't get Clover's screams out of her mind. Spitting out the Pachirisu, she was afraid to munch on meat for the foreseeable future. It got to the point where she didn't want to eat berries either, as she still recalled Clover's terror upon eating anything.
The guilt was becoming too much. She began to think of how she would satisfy her guilt, and she thought that she should go to the Temple of Sinnoh and ask for divine forgiveness. Even if Arceus decided to smite her, she knew her guilt would be gone at least.
Standing in the temple where Akari met Arceus, she cried
"O merciful Arceus, hear my prayer
My flesh cries out for justice, and is eating me alive
Cleanse my soul of hatred, and forgive my sins"
After a few minutes of meditating at the temple, she heard a familiar voice "Usagi is that you?" Akari was in the Celestica Ruins, when she heard her alpha Sylveon. Usagi didn't care how loud she was during her prayer, and her Alpha nature didn't help in keeping quiet.
Akari had her fears confirmed when she saw that Usagi had gained a bit of weight. "Did... did you eat Clover?" Akari said, at a loss for words. Usagi couldn't help but sob. This was it, Akari was going to disown her, Usagi thought.
Akari had no intention of leaving her friend though. Knowing how both of them did stuff ending in Clover's demise, she could emphasize with the guilt her Sylveon feels. So instead, she consoled her Sylveon. Offering her an oran berry, she said "I forgive you"
Epilogue
For the next month, the unnaturally plump Sylveon stayed at Madame Cogita's retreat to recover from her self-inflicted trauma. Realizing the fairy was rejecting meat out of guilt, Akari and Cogita learned that the fairy was able to handle soups better, eventually getting her to have more solid stuff as she mentally recovered. Usagi herself started to exercise to get herself back to a normal weight, but couldn't work off all the pudge she gained. Though initially upset, she grew to accept that Clover was a part of her now, and that she couldn't change the past.
She was mostly back to her old self as the month ended, already hunting once again. The guilt now being more manageable, she was ready to face the people of the village. Charm was furious as Akari finally told her how Clover died, with the fairy present. Akari left out the gory details, but they could imagine how it happened, as she stared in horror at Usagi's chub. "I think you two should leave the village. Twice, you both had done something to hurt our sister" she replied.
Instead of leaving the village however, Akari and Usagi wanted to hear what the leadership had to say. So Kamado called the sisters, Akari, and Usagi to his office after some deliberation.
"While what Usagi did does not align with our ideals, at the same time, Clover was a scourge to our land. I think it was commendable that Usagi protected the village, though I can't commend how she did it."
"What? These two can just perform the most heinous acts and get away with it?"
"Both of them have seeked forgiveness for the horrible acts they committed out of passion. Every one of us has done unforgivable things, and if we banished everyone that has done something horrible, we wouldn't have a village." The sisters couldn't argue with that, given their checkered past.
Kamado then added, "However, I do think it's appropriate that they suspend their duties temporarily, as I believe it's appropriate that they shouldn't represent the Survey Corps for a while. That would mean that you Akari would live off the money you have made. We'll still let you two live in your quarters"
With that, they were dismissed. Charm and Coin still weren't fully satisfied, but they really couldn't think of anything else to suggest to Kamado rather than banishment. Akari and Usagi both thought that they were let off too easily, but were still happy they were allowed to be a part of the village.
However, the people in the village became privy to what Usagi had done. They knew she would safely eat Akari every now and then, but the Sylveon had now killed someone in the same way. They developed a sort of respectful fear for Usagi. They were grateful there was one less bandit running around, but at the same time, they were afraid of her. She became somewhat of a god among men. Or demon, depending on the villager you ask. They weren't sure whether Usagi was allowed to stay because of the kindness of Kamado, or because the Commander was afraid to banish her.
Not a day would go by where someone would look at Usagi in fear, and the Sylveon noticed. She always wanted to be seen as kind and approachable, but her actions have made that not possible. She grew to accept this reality, that she is a different Sylveon than she used to be, for better or for worse.
