4:09 am, Unknown Location, 4 Hours after Disaster
A calm and cool breeze blew through the weeds and grass that covered the landscape as far as the eye could see. Small rocky hills painted the background along with the dark, yet bright sky. the stars were clearly lit due to the lack of light in the area. constellations could be picked after just seconds of looking into the beautiful sky. Yet, Under the star lit sky, there was a different story, not of beauty, but of peril. The story had started with the unconscious body of Kay Ashlock lay amongst the weeds and grass.
A few minutes pass. the sound of the breeze had fallen silent. the cold night was as silent as a church mouse. However, the silence is soon broken, as Kay jumps awake with a gasp of air. she immediately sets into panic. she stands up and looks around, then down at herself. her white lab coat was covered in black ash. burnt holes covered most of her coat and shirt. she then looks back up, than around the area she somehow got to. She places her hand on her head and tries to remember what had happened.
After recalling the memory of he disaster, she takes out her phone, sighing in relief as she sees the battery still had some power to it. she looks through the contacts and finds Kaz's name. she taps the 'call' button, and a solid tone is heard. she looks at the phone in confusion before she tries again. Solid tone. Kay then tries another contact, her dad. she taps Call, and a solid tone is heard. she tries two more of her contacts and gets the same results, solid tone. Kay then looks around and lets out a sigh.
"okay...Get a hold of yourself. there should be a road nearby, there has to be" she says putting her phone away
She starts off in a random direction, stepping over tall weeds and stepping clear of animal burrows and holes.After about 30 minutes of walking, Kay finds a highway. the sound of passing cars could be heard every few seconds. Kay watched a few cars roll by before she stuck her arm out and held up her thumb. she looked around as the cars continued to pass by. I can't believe I'm hitchhiking, she thinks to herself.
10 minutes go by, and finally, an SUV pulls over onto the shoulder lane. Kay walks up to the passenger side door and lets out a sigh of relief. she opens the door and gets inside the car. She then looks over at the driver and freezes in place, unable to look away. The creature driving the car was something she didnt even know had existed, something that she only saw in books, and movies. Kay had never thought to have ever seen a human in her life. The driver of the car was as bewildered as she was. he looked at her, and then shoved her out of the car, saying "get out of my car you freak" before driving off. Kay looked up after tumbling onto the floor, watching the car speed off into the distance. she let her ears fold against her head as she started to walk down the road.
2 hpurs pass.
Kay nearly started jumping in joy as she saw the lights of a town not too far away. she started towards the town. However, afyrt a few steps, she hears a car pull up behind her. after the last encounter, she just turns around upon hearing the car door open.
"hey, im not what you think i am, I'm not a human" she says, watching someone come close to her.
It was a female. she looked to be about 21. she had black, flowing hair and a slim frame. she walked closer and looked at Kay in awe.
"w-wow, that is an amazing suit" she says, smiling
Kay tilted her head and looked around for a moment "Umm, this is a lab coat, not a suit"
"not the coat silly" she runs her hand along your arm "your fur suit, it looks so real"
"A...Fur suit?" Kay asks, tilting her head
"wait, you dont know what that is?" she asks, looking at Kay's tail, then at her ears. she hesitently reaches up and touches her ears, before pulling her hand away "oh my God, y-you're real!?"
"Miss, you have me really confused, what are you talking abou- nevermind, can you tell me where i am?"
"y-yes, y-youre in Austin"
Austin? where is that at?"
"Texas silly, where are you from? you sound american"
Kay them had an uneasy feeling in her chest. she looked at the city and then took n a rather scary thought
"a-are there any more of my kind here?" Kay asks, her voice shaky
"well, not real ones, but there are a lot of people who like your kind" she says, reaching out to pet Ka'ys head, but then gasps as she sees Kay faint
