"OK ! don't panic. "

He leaned against a large tree and took a few deep breaths.

"One problem at a time. Which is the bigger problem right now?, that your lost ? That your lost and alone?"

He pushed himself back off the tree, his mind racing with wild thoughts about his predicament and how he managed to get himself into this mess.

"You know what john!" His voice rising slightly as he spoke to himself and the feeling of dread and panic set in. "Apart from the fact that those last two where the same point! The BIGGEST question is WHERE THE HELL AM I!"

Looking around frantically while trying to keep himself from having a heart attack he was having a hard time processing the view. Trees, nothing but trees and underbrush lots of brown and red."How did i end up in the Forest!? I....I was drinking with the lads" he normally dint get black out drunk , but it would explain why he could not remember anything. "But the closest forest, is nearly three hours away, so......i got black out drunk and one of the lads drove three hours and dumped me in the middle of the forest as a joke?"

Bringing his hands to his face, he took a few moments to steady himself. Taking a deep breath he looked around more carefully as he pulled out his phone. No new messages, no signal and the battery was at about 50 percent power.

"Well if that isent fucken A typical" he opened his maps to see if it showed him anything , but that was no use ether "OK, no signal of any-kind and nothing but forest as far as the eye can see and no sign of anyone else" looking back down at his phone he turned it off, he wasn't in range right now but he might get signal somewhere else, looking to his right he saw a stream of water. "Water is good... right? follow the water and i might run into someone or find signs of something " Hiking wasn't really his thing, nether was fitness for that matter, looking down as his slight gut he tried to logically figure this out." Iv no idea where i am, or where the closest town is with no idea of how long it will take to get signal or to find someone" he looked at the river and bit his bottom lip as he listened to the sounds of nature around him "But everything needs water, even predators " he huffed slightly and started walking towards the river" But i also need water, and this is as good a plan as any " and so he resolved himself and started on his trek , he'd get answers later, he needed to get himself somewhere save first.

It wasn't that bad at first, rather warm even, the path following the river got a bit harder to navigate at some points and even started to slowly go down hill and the hangover he realized he had once he was no longer panicking got burnt off by a combination of exercise and the warmed around him, but as minutes of trekking turned into hours he found himself looking at the shallow river in the knowledge that eventually he would need to drink something, the water looked alright but he really had no clue if it was and no means to boil it even if he wanted to. "Another problem to put on the long finger" he muttered to himself

He had started this journey early in the morning he felt like he had been traveling all day, it was already getting kinda of dark, pulling out his phone he turned it on with a glimmer of hope.

"5 pm, roughly 8 hours of walking "he panted in exhaustion and rested himself against a rock giving his phone a moment to try find a signal, turning the phone off as it failed to find a signal he looked around, letting his gaze settle on the running water his thirst hit him hard, licking his lips he considered.

God i could use a drink right about know, im sure the water is fine to drunk but what if its not, what if i get sick, out here alone with no help and its already getting dark, where am i going to sleep?. The wind suddenly picked up which sent a shiver along his body. And its also starting to get really cold . Getting stuck in this never ending loop of what he was going to do and tired, so tired ,cold and thirsty he wasn't built for this, I fucken hate the outdoors, i hate the stupid and the stupid rocks but mostly i hate that fucken river of possible salvation or death. i hate how cold it is and whoever is yelling so loudly while im trying to think.

Focusing on that last nugget of information he slowly raised himself off the rock and looked in the direction where he could have sworn he heard someone THERE! He wasn't crazy he HAD heard someone yelling not to far away "HELP!!!" he started to hurriedly make his way towards the sounds of chatter further down the river "HELP!!! I NEED HELP"

"HELLO?!" a deep voice responded in confusion.

"HELLO!" he yelled as loud as he could making him cough slightly " IM LOST!"

"where are you?" the voice was closer now and he picked up his pace, the thrilling feeling of rescue, he would not have to risk the dangers of the night, or the potential dangers of drinking the river water.

"IM" his cry for help was cut of as he felt his leg give way, he had not been looking where he was going in the dark and in his rush he had lost his footing and tumbled down a sudden dip in the river, he felt his body crash against every rock and twig as he tumbled down.

Groaning loudly in pain he pulled himself to his feet and wobbled slightly, he could feel something warm running down his face , putting his hand to his forehead he felt a sting from an open wound, he must have cracked his head against a rock, I fucken hate the forest , god that hurt.

He opened his mouth to yell out again but paused as he looked across the river it was dark and the blood was started to obscure half his vision but it was hard to miss , right across from him standing on its hind legs was a bear, he froze as stunned as the animal, his pain faded as his panic took full swing, the beast took a step forward reaching out its paw and his run for dear life protocol took full control, he turned and saw a gap into the woods and bolted.

He heard the splashing of water and other noise from behind him, wiping his sleeve against his eye to try improve his sight he just ran, all he could hear now was the thumping of his heart as it beat a 100 miles an hour but he was already tired and soon the Adrenalin wore off and his body started to feel its wear and tear, coming to a halt , panting and looking around , i need to hide. _Somewhere it cant find me, somewhere it cant reach me , O! god please don't let it find me. _

He heard a twig snap behind him and in his terror he spotted a tree that was half out of the ground with its roots showing, desperate he crawled underneath and curled up into a bawl and tried to catch his breath .

CRACK! a twig broke near his hiding place and he put his hand over his mouth to stifle a cry of surprise, he could hear it outside and then his terror grew as he came to the realization that the sound of breaking twigs had moved in two different directions. There was two of them out there looking for him, he sobbed slightly into his hand. I'm going to die, mauled by two bloody bears in the god damn WOODS!. Will anyone even find my body? O! Mum! Dad! your....your going to have to identify my body! if im even found. I'm.....I'm so sorry .He pulled his phone out and turned in on, the sound of footsteps started getting closer to where he was, looking down at his phone he sobbed in despair as yet again there was still no signal.

"hello.......are.....are you ok?" his breath caught in his throat as he heard a voice , soft and caring .

"You took a bit of a tumble there, you looked like you really hurt yourself" he could feel tears forming , that rough voice from before, they found him.

"do you want to come out from under the tree ??" the soft voice called out.

He started sobbing slightly and unfurling himself he weakly crawled back out of the roots , pulling himself to his knees it all came crashing down on him , he burred his face into his hands and sobbed. "Im .........im ......sorry " he sobbed out , unable to contain the emotions from overflowing and consuming him.

"Hi , its ok, relax your safe" he felt a heavy hand rest on his shoulder, pulling his face out of his hands he whipped his eyes and and he started to pick himself up, he was so heavy , so tired, so hurt, so spent, turning his head he felt the terror build again as he was looking straight into the eyes of the bear and he felt dizzy.

Opening his eyes he looked at the wooden ceiling and just stared at it, his mind felt like a fog was slowly being lifted. What happened? I was ...lost and then i was running. _Suddenly the image of big eyes a muzzle and fur came crashing back into his memory, he went to sit up but dint make it an inch of the bed when his body was flooded with pain. _Right right, i did take a bit of a fall dint I. Carefully pulling himself upright on the bed he put his hand to his forehead , he could trace the stitches, doing a few carefully movements to see if everything else was still ok he pulled the blankets off him and shivered, it was much colder outside the blankets and the fact that he was naked would certainly not help. Carefully pulling himself off the bed he looked around for his clothing and found them on a chair, his pants and jumper had some rips and tears but seemed fine, putting on his cloths he wandered around.

"hello! is...is anyone there" there was no reply, no sound at all apart from something very familiar sound from outside, going to a window he looked outside and was greeted by a blanket of white. It had snowed , how long was i out for ? where is everyone ?

Looking over to a table he noticed a cup and a jug, walking over it he could have cry'd in joy. Water! he pored it into the cup and drank it all down in one go, he sighed in relief. He jumped slightly and moved back from the table as he heard movement from what he could only call the back door.

"Its really come down hard today, how do you think the others are getting on ?" a deep voice said as it unlocked and pushed open the door, two frames entered there coats covered in snow.

"Em, hello ...." john said nervously and hurriedly put the cup back on the table and stepped back .

"O! your awake!. We where worried you where out for quit a bit, just give use a second" he recognized the second voice, softer then the first.

"Yeah i kind of gathered that much" he pointed to the window chuckling softly as the other two put away bits and bods they had been caring.

"Yeah, its been about two days since we found you in the woods " the deeper voice responded as they both started to shake of the snow and take of there coats.

"Iv....iv been out for two days! " he must have really done some damage to himself in that fall, as he pondered looking at the two taking of there coats he dint react straight away when there coats came off revealing to him a big brown bear not quit feral but definitely not human. As the bear was shaking off his fur suddenly his vision was blocked by a pair of crystal blue eyes, taking a few steps back he looked the husky with his black and white fur up and down.

Wait..... wait.....hold on, whats going on?. His eyes looked over the huskies facial features not really sure what he was seeing was real. He saw the canine nose twitch, ears perking back slightly and then a padded paw gently resting against his hand.

"Are you ok? are you in pain?" he watched those familiar canine muzzle making very unfamiliar motions, his mouth dropping open as words poured forth from the husky's lips.

"He alright max?" his eyes moved over to the bear. "Its alright " his paw raised up and gently landed on his shoulder sending a jolt of pain threw his body, "your safe we got you"

Taking a sudden step back he raised his hand "I.........I need a moment." he turned and went back to the bedroom he woke up in and closed the door, looking down he saw a key, locking the door he stepped back and rubbed his shoulder.

They, they where talking , he fiddled with the key in his hand and walked to a chair and promptly sat himself down. they where speaking ........English!. His mind was in chaos.

"What happened there?" he heard the rough voice of the bear, confused and puzzled

"No idea, maybe that blow to the head was worse then i thought?" Max's sounding equally puzzled, both reaching the door and knocking. "You alright in there , everything ok?"

"No.....no everything is not alright " whats was happening, why was it happening, where the hell was he, how did he get here, why was there a talking bear and husky, he could feel himself struggling, everything was wrong.

The handle of the door rattled " if you open the door maybe i could help ?" Max's sounded exasperated.

"O my god would you just stop talking!" he marched over to the door , he could feel something boiling inside him, he had not even noticed it, anger, anger was good , he let that feeling wash over him and embraced it like a safe warm blanket against the illogical cold.

Unlocking the door and swinging it open, max and the bear looked puzzled, "God? which .." the bear started to inquire.

"NO! no talking "he pointed at the pair " I said i needed a moment alright , I! NEED A MOMENT, because im having some trouble processing here!. I! need a moment because there is a husky!" he pointed at max" and a bear!" he pointed towards the brown brun, "talking ! and my conception of reality has just been shattered into a 100 million razor sharp tiny peaces that im really struggling to put back together and i NEED a moment, so i can HAVE this moment and try not to go completely insane" he paused and took a deep breath and glared at the two.

Max with his ears pinned back in shock opened his mouth to try say something but was promptly shut by a brown paw, the bear reached over and grabbed the handle of the door and pulled it close.

There was nothing said for what felt like eternity, john slowly peace himself back together and max and the bear remained quit outside.

Eventually the door opened and john joined the pair in the kitchen taking a set at the table, there was silence as everyone waited for someone else to start a conversation, taking a deep breath and leaning against the table john broke the deadlock.

"Id like to go first if thats ok." the pair looked at one another and then nodded. "Right, well id like to say that i am sorry for the way i talked to you both before " he looked over at the scene of the crime, then looked down to the floor ." I was very rude and very angry considering you both saved me and took care of me and are probably equally confused as i am about all this "

They both remained silent but he felt like he had repaired a small bit of the damage he had done with his episode, the bear shifted looked over at max and then back to the human.

"Thats alright and we are confused about a few things and i understand you have had a bit or a rough time, but id like some answers " the bear looked at him and he watched him speak , it was weird, like some really high end CGI and voice acting, but at lest it was not breaking his fragile mental state.

"I can answer your questions, but i can only promise to be honest, i cant promise it will make any sense " he said carefully.

The bear huffed slightly and grumbled but nodded his head in acceptance, leaning into the husky he pause and glanced over " We are going to NEED a moment" John could not help but chuckle and swore he saw something resembling a smile on the bear as the two huddled and conversed. Turning back to him max asked the first question. "lets start with something fairly simply, whats your name?". From there he answered all there questions, as best as he could at any rate, he recounted the events from him waking in the forest to him waking up in the bed. Once the questioning became a conversation he discovered the bear was named Deck short for Derick and worked in something tech related and max was a nurse. Deck had questions about his phone, he right up admitted that he knew how to plug it in , turn it on and using it, so he kept his terminology simple, everything seemed set up differently with product names and a charging port deck had never seen in his life, max admitted that in all his time as a nurse he had never come across a human before, but that he was certain that the worst of my injuries was a bit of blood loss and bumps and bruises. I leaned they where called anthromophs and apparently came in a large variety of different species, shapes and sizes and that they where actually up here for a holiday with some friends, a sort of escape from the city/ bonding kind of thing.

"Right, so here is the situation as i see it. We have no idea whats going on but we are going to be stuck here for quit a bit". Nodding his head John let Deck lay out his plan. " are friends should be turning up at any moment and they have a car but with the way the weather is we are all gonna be stuck here until it lets up and a path opens up.

Max was in deep thought before he pipped in "Listen considering how confusing this all is and how little we actually know and how long we are going to have to be stuck together how about we settle on a story thats simpler to follow" Max paused and licked his chops carefully constructing the cover story "you where hiking and fell and hit your head somewhere in the confusion you lost your gear and we came across you in the woods and took you back to the cabin and patched you up and before we knew it we where snowed in and we are just kind of stuck with the ............situation as it is"

Deck scratched the side of his brown burry neck and grumbled unhappily " I ..... i dont really like the idea of lying to them " Deck looked at the human considering his moral dilemma and then sighed and shrugged " Fine we lie to them at least until we figure out what is actually going, but how to we explain " Deck motioned his big paw towards John "WHAT he is ......."

John looked down at himself and crossed his arms feeling he had just been slighted in some strange way. " Well are any of your other friends in the medical profession ? or are versed in every variant there is of " He waved his hand back at Deck in a similar manner " What you are?"

"No...."Deck looked over at max a sparkle in his eye, "Max is the only one of us in a medical field "

Max rolled over to John and started looking over him, it was strange feeling nimble padded paws prodding and poking his face " Im going to need you to take your shirt off for a moment " John blushed as he took of his shirt suddenly feeling very self conscious about his body, he was a stocky ish kind of guy with a nice bit of hair on his chest, well at wasent a forest of fur like Deck and Max sure but it was not barren ether. Max dint miss a step as he looked him around and ran his hand along his chest, John was having some rather mixed feelings about his body getting roughly groped by a husky paw, Max stood back and was deep in thought again, lifting his paw he pointed to his pants " im going to have to see everything again ", John could feel his face light on fire as he remembered he was naked when he woke up. "well the pants are staying on max so work with what you got "he picked up his shirt and started putting it back on as max looked at him with a tilted head , his nose twitched and his ears suddenly perked right up and he looked at Deck. " O! .......O! right ...... bit inappropriate " John dint like how long those blue eyes studied him, but thankfully Max moved back to the task at hand . " Right well, i am going to go with john being a rare Tailless Barbary macaque variant with a condition very close to Alopecia areata that is not life threatening but caused him some odd abnormalities as not being able to grow hair properly and anything else that we might need to cover." With that all sorted John bid the two goodnight and went to bed, feeling wrecked he quickly fell asleep .

Waking up bright and early the next morning john lay in the single bed and allowed himself the bliss of a the feeling of a good nights sleep, his head dint feel like someone was pounding on it with a hammer and his pains had dulled, after stretching and turning over in the single bed he looked around the room to see he was still alone, letting his hand run down his body to his crotch he wrapped his hand around his needy morning wood, he sighed slightly as he let himself wallow in the feeling, he had been out of it for bit and he felt so pent up. Mindlessly he rubbed himself threw the fabric of his shorts but was jolted from his momentary bliss by the sound of a cup crashing against something and a yell of pain. Jumping from the bed he quickly put on his cloths and went into the kitchen to find Deck rubbing his foot as max was laughing mocking him.

"Is everything ok? i heard a crash ?" he leaned against a wall watching the pair.

"everything is alright" max was chuckling uncontrollably. "sorry if we woke you up we are kind of early risers "

He smiled slightly and looked over at Deck who was know looking at him while rubbing his nose and smirking weirdly.

"What? "he suddenly felt really uncomfortable with deck smirking at him in such a strange way .

"What? , O!.....nothing just, was just nice to see that we have things in common " deck cryptically answered in his rough rumble , Max stood up and kicked Deck in the foot " Dont mind him, you stick around long enough and you'l learn to tolerate him " Max went over to the table and waved a hand at two figures he had completely missed when he entered the kitchen "These are the friends we where telling you about " quickly bouncing back from his shock of how he could have missed a Gorilla and a German Shepard sitting at the table he quickly introduced himself to the new pair, the gorilla was harry and was about as big as deck and the German was Luke and after breakfast everyone got to know one another a little better, as far as he could gather they where a group of friends that came up once every year for a week or two and got drunk, the cabin was the best there was in terms of value/location , which he thought sounded awfully familiar to his own group, he carefully danced and avoided and out right lied about himself in attempt to keep the cover story going intact and he only really lied about where he was from or well max lied about it and he just agreed with him.

With pleasant introductions out of the way everyone got about setting up for the day , putting a fire on , cleaning up passing some time with some more idle chatter and trying to learn a card game which he could not wrap his head around which everyone else found to be the height of comedy and he showed them how to play go fish.

Suddenly Harry looked at his clock and jumped up with what looked like the biggest grin on his face "Right, its bath time boys " he nudged Luke who stretched and pulled himself of the couch and started rooting though a bag. Looking over at Max he silently worded bath time?. Max looked to deck and scratching the back of his neck he chuckled "Well its not exactly bath time but there are hot springs a little up the way, its part of the reason we come here, to go to the springs , this cabin is so far out of the way that there is no one else around and its about a 15 min walk from here so we pretty much have it all to are-selves" Max looked over at Harry who was putting on some very strange looking shoes. "Yeah......"Harry sounded puzzled as Max looked fit to kill him and glanced back towards there quest "its the best really, your more then welcome to come along, great stress reliever " John thought about it and the idea of a hot spring did feel really tempting but looking out the window at the snow he knew that he did not have the kind of winter gear to trek to the spring let alone trek back dripping wet, turning back around he paused as Max was stock still with his ears pinned back and if looks could kill they would have killed Harry.

" thanks harry but im afraid im going to have to pass you up on that offer " he moved onto the couch and lay down on it.

"O! are you sure , its kind of the whole reason we come here " Harry looked away from Max with what seemed to pass for confused worry.

"Yeah but sadly....." he paused thinking how he would word this convincingly" My.....condition, does not afford my the level of warmth needed to brave the cold not to mention that as great as a dip in the spring sounds id die of hypothermia on the way back "

"O!.......I i had even " Harry looked like he had been hit by a speeding truck of guilt twice over, and so he to felt a pang of regret for lying to the big guy, he seemed really nice and he was not lying about why he could not go but pretending he had a condition, he knew it made the whole thing worse, he dint know Harry very well but he was familiar with the feeling of having said something insensitive even if it was from a good place. Thankfully Luke appeared in front of Harry as he turned away "WELL!!! may i just be the first to say sorry , we had completely forgot about that " He looked at Luke and smiled, in the short time since he had meet luke he felt like he was the one he got the most as a person, he was a bit of a joker, a bit carefree and mostly just about the banter and fun, " Dont worry about it harry we only just meet i dont expect you to remember everything off the bat and sure i dont even remember this joke of a wannabe jock is ........Lucy or something or other " Luke was another I.T guy but dealt mostly in coding and was a little bit of a gym bunny, O! .......there are actual gym bunny's somewhere isen't there, he could not help exploding into laughter at the very concept " Wannabe jock! Lucy!........how dare you sir you have wounded me deeply and if you where not already mortally wounded i would challenge you to a duel" gathering himself back up he could see the glimmer in Luke's eye and the big grin on his face, A! a banter man if he'd ever meet one .

"listen you guys go on ahead and have your fun, ill just chill out here and ill see you when you get back." He relaxed back onto the couch, not to mention i could do with some me time.

"Actually im going to have to pass as well" Max waved away Deck before he even started to ask anything "Someone has got to make sure johns alright, im sure he is alright but what if something happened and no one was here?"

"No im really fine, iv been feeling much better today and i really dont want to inconvenience you any more then i already have " He protested but realized no one else was listening to him, it was quickly agreed that they would take turns each day to stay back with him while the rest went to the spring.

While the rest where at the spring he and max talked , played games and general got to know one another a bit better, he admitted to feeling bad about harry and how he made the big guy go on a guilt trip. "yeah, hes a really nice guy, I hope that that isent a common occurrence " max mournfully sighed. While looking around the cabin a thought suddenly struck him, something he had not even considered until now " Hi when did harry and Luke arrive? " Max revealed they had arrived shortly after he went to bed and not wanting to wake him they had taken the couch in the kitchen/living room. "NO! , im taking the couch , or the floor or whatever the if one must sleep somewhere option is " he made that point clear, no argument or discussion needed, harry and Luke paid for one of the two rooms and he was a free loader and he would not cheap them out of whatever creature comforts they had paid for. The lads came back from the spring joking and laughing with one another , soon beers appeared from Harry's car and they drank into the night and then went to bed.

That was the pattern for the next couple of days , waking up, breakfast, chill/recovery time , three of them going to the springs someone staying behind, john getting to know them a little better , drinking and then passing out on the couch. Except every morning he woke , someone was knocking about , noises that prevented him from tending to his growing need and never being alone long enough to feel like he could even get away with a quickie but he would push it down and go about the day, Luke and harry where simply lovely people, he could see him being friends with them back home, Luke was his banter buddy, they fired off quick insults and funny quips jokes and even tussled slightly, he had never been so overpower before, sure he wasent fit but he was not exactly a weakling ether and Luke wasent a 6 pack muscle of beef , he was just so much stronger then him, and harry was so apologetic every night when he got drunk about forgetting and we would try convince him again that it was water under the bridge nothing to worry about and harry would pull him into these big hugs that lasted for way to long, but he had to admit he kind of enjoyed them not only where they really sweet but felt really nice as well, Max and Deck seemed like they where the best of friends and where always around one another, having little private conversation by there make shift bar by the sink, sometimes he new it was about him, Deck would glance over mid conversation with a puzzled look on his face and then glance away when id catch him, He really hoped to talk to him about it maybe, he dint want to put to much pressure on the big brown guy, he seemed rough like a trucker at first glance , but he had a fun side to him and seemed like he cared about his friends .

On the 8 day of his impromptu holiday crashing , just before the lads where about to head off to the spring , harry and Luke came out of there room with big grins on there faces. " right so we would like to propose something and we know its not perfect, but we think it might work" Harry looked at Luke with his hands behind his back like a giddy child " so long as we have the ok from are resident doctor max, may he reign for a thousand years " Luke gave a slight boy towards Max. Harry pulled from behind his big arms a rather big and thick furry rug looking thing " Ok so here us out, its stopped snowing for a day or two know so we should not have to worry about getting caught in the snow and the blanket is thick enough that it should protect from the cold even when wet."

"Are......are you suggesting that i wrap myself up in the blanket and try walking to and from the spring ?" he could not help slightly at the very idea .

"NO! we are suggesting.........well im suggesting that you wrap up in this and i carry you to the springs and back , your light enough that i can carry you without any bother and back and this way we can all enjoy the spring ......together" He looked over at max, as harry finished of his pitch, he wasent completely against the idea but he got the feeling max was doing it to make up for his initial fuck up. Springing into action Luke attempted to at lest make his best effort with this pitch, "Ok i know your worried Luke , thats your job but hes honestly does seem fine, his cut wasent as deep as you first thought and has healed up nicely, hes no longer covered in bruises and AND! hes been drinking almost as much as use almost every night with nothing but the usual hangover as a negative side effect " Max seemed rather surprised that Luke had been paying any amount of attention to my injuries, thinking about it for a bit he looked at Deck who shrugged and then muttered under his breath " Fine......fine ok but if harry cant carry him to the springs with ease then its straight back to the cabin with him, the blanket will protect him from the cold enough for that at least.

Looking away from max in surprised of his answer , john jumped slightly from his place on the couch as harry with the blanket was slowly walking towards him while Luke chuckled and flanked him from the other side " now now my hairless wonder, dont struggle against the inevitable " and so he found himself wrapped up in a big woolly blanket in the arms of a big gorilla and feeling really embarrassed about the entire situation, but he was rather surprised how much ground the troop covered, the cold dint seem to faze them and they waded threw the snow like it was almost not even there. Finally they arrived at the pool, harry setting him down " Easy , was light as a feather , there would be no problem caring him back" he gave a big thumbs up to max as he unwrapped himself from the blanket and shivered in the cold air.
