Wings Of Fire-Fighting Conquest CH 1
Hi, sorry for the long absence, kinda busy rn but ill start posting again more sporadically.
Tsunami sat in front of the Jade Mountain academy, Michael was standing next to her, marking off supplies for their trip to Pantala.
“So." Michael spoke. “Moon, Qibli, Cricket, Blue, Sunny, Starflight, Willow, Sundew, Luna, Swordtail and I will all be unavailable during this trip."
“So, all of those but Sundew and Willow will be at the Cicada hive, then Sunny and Starflight will be going by themselves to the Jewel hive while the others go to the Wasp hive. Then they all meet us at the Dragontail peninsula?"
“Correct, your travel plans are Wasp hive, Jewel hive, then Dragontail."
“Where are Sundew and Willow going?"
“They're going to be at the peninsula, getting married."
Tsunami smiled. “Without us?"
“Leafwings only."
“All silkwings, hivewings, and leafwings will be dismissed upon arrival, their families will be waiting for them."
Tsunami nodded. “Who else?"
“Uh, Anemone and Turtle will catch up with their mother the day after arrival, Tamarin and Kinkajou will likely follow. All nightwings can choose to be excused due to the way they're treated in Pantala."
“How would they be treated?"
“Like gods."
Tsunami rolled her eyes. “Right."
“All supplies are ready, and Webs is in charge while you're gone, Trice has… Already left, okay."
“Where did Bea go, I saw her at the wedding."
“She left to deal with a… Problem… In another dimension."
Tsunami rubbed her forehead with her talons. “My mother wants me at the meeting, but we won't be anywhere near it."
“She'll get over it."
“She said she might move it to Wasp hive, so we'll see." Tsunami sighed “Of course everybody else has to be on honeymoon."
“Clay, Peril, Winter, Lynx, Coltan, Jambu, Pineapple…"
“Okay, I get it."
“Glory said she might catch up with you after the meeting."
“Michael?"
“Yeah?"
“You can see the future, right?"
Michael looked over at her. “Yeah."
“I'm a little worried about something."
“Alright."
“Riptide and I, can we be happy, with me being queen?"
Michael smiled. “You want to know some details."
“You can do that?"
Michael just raised an eyebrow.
“Sure, I mean yes."
Michael stared off. “Likeliest outcome with my involvement, minimum four kids with a happy life and family."
Tsunami sighed. “That's good."
Michael shook his head violently. “You would be surprised just what's possible in the multiverse, I still am sometimes."
“What did you see?"
“You don't want to know." Michael shook his head again.
Sunny opened her eyes and smiled to herself; it was time for their honeymoon; a couple of weeks of uninterrupted fun with her husband. She looked over at Starflight, who was still asleep. She nuzzled him lightly, making him sneeze. Sunny laughed at his reaction, then rolled her eyes and got out of the bed. She walked out of the room, and over to the prey center for some breakfast. Clay, as usual, was scampering around, piling foods and other things.
“Hey Clay." Sunny greeted him.
“Morning." Clay smiled. “You excited to see Pantala?"
Sunny nodded. “Very, Jewel hive is going to be awesome."
Clay nodded. “I heard they have the best sweets."
Sunny smirked. “Thought you would have."
“They have some weird currency there, Michael said he'd give some to everybody, so I hope I can taste it all."
Starflight rushed into the room, and looked over at Sunny. He sighed, and walked up to her.
“Thought you might be in here." He panted.
“Did you run here?"
“Yeah, normally you wake me up, you scared me."
“Sorry, you didn't want to wake up."
A bunch of dragonets rushed into the room, and started selecting their foods. Sunny and Starflight ate a quick meal before walking out of the academy. Michael was standing with a strange dragon, and they were talking and laughing loudly.
“Starflight, Sunny, hey." Michael called.
They walked over and the red dragon greeted them.
“You must be Starflight and Sunny." He spoke.
They both nodded.
“This is Carnados, the Guardian of Carnage."
“Greetings." The red dragon bowed.
“Carnage?" Starflight blinked.
“Most titans are born of Chaos and Carnage." Michael explained. “The Guardian of Chaos is…. Currently unavailable."
Carnados smirked. “That's a nice way of putting it."
“So, this guardians thing…" Starflight cut in.
“A very long time ago, I took all the forces and instrumental pieces of the multiverse, and assigned guardians to them."
“Carnage?"
“Is an actual force in the multiverse."
Carnados looked over as dozens of dragonets excited the school and ready themselves for the flight. Michael nodded to him, and he vanished in a flash of red and a puff of smoke.
“He's going to start the searching." Michael told them.
Tsunami walked out of the academy, and shouted at the crowd. “Alright, alright. Everybody pay attention! Stay with the group, don't lag behind, we'll stop every few hours."
The group nodded, and everybody took off. Sunny and Starflight took up the rear so they could catch any stragglers.
“Hey, can I show you a trick?" Starflight asked.
“Of course." Sunny smiled.
I learned a few new skills in the last few weeks.
Sunny gasped. Can you hear my thoughts?
Yes, apparently skyfire doesn't work on me.
Being born on three moons really gives nightwings power. Michael's voice added.
That's so cool! Sunny thought.
Starflight beamed at her. Thought you might like it.
What's the range?
From what I can tell, there isn't one.
So, we can communicate through any distance?
Yes, that's why I wanted to learn this first.
“You… are so sappy." Sunny shouted at him.
It took them four days to reach Pantala. Sunny and Starflight left with Blue, Cricket, Luna, Swordtail, Moon, and Qibli to Cicada hive. They landed at the top in a nice looking garden, and Blue and Luna immediately rushed over to two silkwings.
“Hey Blue" One of them greeted. “Hi Luna."
“The one on the left is Silverspot, and the one on the right is Burnet." Cricket told the others.
“Where's Dad?" Blue asked
“Admirals off… Getting a present, was it?" Burnet turned to Silverspot, who shrugged.
“Who are your friends." Silverspot asked.
Blue waved them over. “You met Qibli and Moon, but this is Starflight, and his wife Sunny."
“Nice to meet you." Burnet replied.
A crowd of hivewings was starting to form, they were looking at Moon and Starflight with wide eyes. The nightwings started to get nervous, and Sunny knew he wanted to get away from the public.
“Alright, we're going to go find someplace to stay…" Sunny told them.
“Nonsense, you four can stay with us." Burnet told them.
“Eight visitors?" Blue asked. “You sure we have room?"
“We aren't staying in our old home anymore; Lady Cicada gave us a mansion on the upper levels." Silverspot told him
Blue raised an eyebrow. “She did?"
“Something about you being heroes." Burnet smiled.
“Excuse me." A guard walked up to them. “Who are you? And what is your business here?"
“They're friends." Burnet told the guard.
The crowd took the guards approach as a reason to follow him. The group was quickly surrounded by hivewings, and some silkwings too.
“Are you Clearsight?" One of the hivewings asked Moon.
“What? No." Moon replied.
“Are you related to her? What about you?"
“Nope." Starflight cut in.
He spread his wings, dazzling the crowd before taking flight. Moon shot him a grateful look as the group followed. They landed down in the luxury level, and Burnet led them to a large mansion next to Cicada's.
“This is… nice." Blue spoke.
They walked into the house, and Burnet motioned to a hall.
“You four can stay in the guest rooms there, we made rooms especially for Blue and Luna."
“You did?"
“We knew you would come and visit." Silverspot laughed. “Of course we did."
“I need a nap." Sunny yawned.
“Me too." Qibli replied.
The four bid the silkwings goodnight, and walked into the guest hall.
“So, I heard you two have news." Burnet told Blue and Luna.
“Yeah, were both engaged." Luna told her.
Burnet and Silverspot gasped.
“Oh, my, that was fast." Silverspot spoke.
Blue held Cricket close, and beamed. “You wanted grandchildren, didn't you? You always said to hurry up."
Cricket blushed.
“That was a joke." Burnet replied.
“Says you, I stand by my statements." Silverspot cut in.
Cricket backed away from the conversation, and quickly found her and Blue's bedroom. She dived into the bed and hid under the covers. After a while, the door opened and Cricket felt a body cuddle up against her.
“Sorry about that, they can get kind of personal."
“It's okay." Cricket replied.
Cricket turned around and hugged tightly against Blue, he wrapped his massive, beautiful wings around her, and they fell asleep.
“Alright, this is the Wasp hive." Tsunami told the group.
There were gasps in the crowd, Tsunami agreed with them, this was the largest structure she had ever seen.
“All Leafwings, Silkwings, and Hivewings are dismissed." Tsunami added.
There were some excited shouts, and the Pantalan dragonets rushed over to their waiting families.
Tsunami smiled, then turned back to the main group. “Now, the locals here get a little… odd, when they meet nightwings, so at any time, if you feel uncomfortable, you can be excused."
Tsunami led them into the hive, where several Pantalan instructors were waiting. The hivewings looked stern, while the leafwings and silkwings looked open and welcoming. The instructors led them to a large set of houses that looked more like barracks.
“This is where you will be staying during your time here." One of the hivewings told them. “Don't wander off, the tunnels and streets here can be like a maze."
“Our lessons here are going to be every other day." A silkwing cut in. “Tomorrow will be the first, but on the alternate days we will be taking you to our best spots."
The students nodded excitedly.
“You will be brought food in two hours, do not leave this square." The hivewing barked.
Tsunami blinked. Is this a field trip or a prison?
The instructors left, and a group of hivewing and silkwing students rushed into the square.
“Are you the headmaster?" One of them asked.
“I am." Tsunami smiled.
There was some excited chatter. “We were wondering if we could meet your students."
“We've been excited for days."
“Can we? Can we? Can we?"
“I… Uh… Wasn't expecting this." Tsunami replied.
An almost adult hiving dragonet walked up to her.
“They were hoping to learn more about Phyrria, our schools can't teach much because they don't know anything."
“They don't? Why not?"
The hivewing shrugged. “Not very many travelers come here, mostly dignitaries."
“We should open a school here." Tsunami replied. “For those wishing to learn about us."
“Many would enjoy that."
“Anyway." Tsunami turned to the others. “Go ahead."
There was some more excited chatter as the dragonets walked over to the Jade Mountain students. Tsunami stood by the other teachers and watched as they all chatted. Tsunami laughed when she noticed a nightwing show off his wings to a group of girls.
“This went better than expected." Riptide spoke.
“Where's Clay and Peril?" Tsunami asked.
“Wandered off to check out the markets."
“I think that 'don't leave the square' is supposed to apply to us as well."
“I think not." Riptide replied, pointing at Winter and Lynx as they walked away
Starflight woke up and forgot where he was for a second, after a minute, his brain caught up and he remembered. Sunny's face was buried in his neck, and she was snoring, so Starflight decided to stay there for a while. He stared at the ceiling, feeling the calm breathing of his wife. After a few hours, Sunny woke up and groaned. Starflight hugged her close and nuzzled what he could reach of her face.
“Sore." She mumbled.
“Too much flying?"
“Why did this hive have to be so far?"
Starflight smiled. “Well, we can stay here all day, no planning, remember?"
Sunny smiled, still buried in Starflight's neck. “I think I like that idea."
They laid like that for a while, before somebody knocked loudly on the door.
“I don't know what you're doing in there and I don't want to, but get your lousy butts out of bed. We have fun things to do!" Luna's shouted.
“No plans huh?" Starflight replied.
“We never did tell her about that." Sunny replied, lifting her head and yawning.
Starflight looked at her with a sparkle in his eyes.
“What?"
“Just you." He nuzzled her.
They got up and stretched, several bones in Starflight's wings popped and he groaned in pain.
“Agh, we better not be flying today."
“Mph." Sunny agreed.
“C'mon! C'mon!" Luna called.
Sunny rolled her eyes, and they walked out of the room. They walked into the living room where everybody was waiting.
“Finally! What were you two doing?" Luna asked.
The rest of the room avoided eye contact with each other, Blue blushed.
“We were just relaxing; it was a long trip." Sunny told them.
“Alright, let's go then."
“Go? We haven't even had breakfast." Starflight replied.
“That's what were going to do… Duh." Luna replied, leading them out of the house.
They walked out into the street, and Luna led them down to another level. This level was filled with markets and stores, foods lined one of the streets, and wonderful smells wafted through the air. The group split off into pairs and walked along the streets, buying food and enjoying the flavors. Most of the people were surprised by Starflight's appearance. Some wanted talk to him, but most just stared at him. After an hour, the group met back up in the center, and sat down with satisfied bellies.
“This place is amazing." Sunny spoke first.
“Yeah, the last time we were here it was my metamorphosis day." Luna replied.
“It's a lot better now." Blue replied
“Yeah, this place was so anti-silkewing last time." Luna added.
“It was?" Sunny replied.
“I didn't notice it then, but I definetly remember it now." Blue told them.
After a few hours of chatting, the group decided to attend a ball that night, and returned home to prepare. Luna told them it was a masquerade, which means they have to wear these fancy masks.
“You know, masquerades are a nightwing tradition Clearsight brought with her." Blue told them as they put on their suits.
“Really?" Starflight replied.
“You didn't know that?" Qibli asked. “Darkstalker talked about them with Moon once."
Starflight shrugged. “Not really my thing, I was raised under a mountain you know."
“Right, but you had scrolls." Qibli replied.
“About a tradition that the nightwings haven't participated in in over two thousand years?"
“He got you there." Swordtail cut in.
Qibli frowned. “I guess your right on that one."
Just then, Admiral burst into the room. “Blue?"
“Hi dad." Blue smiled. “What took you so long?"
“I flew all the way to Jewel hive, to get something for Cricket and your sister."
“You did?" Swordtail and Blue said at the same time.
“You'll see later." Admiral smiled, and then looked them over. “Where you guys going?"
“Were all going to a masquerade." Blue told him. “So, you best start getting ready."
Admiral paled, then rushed out of the room.
“I wonder where Michael is." Qibli mentioned after a minute.
Nearby, will be going to the masquerade. Bit busy at the moment.
Qibli blinked. “Still not used to that."
Starflight smiled. You should work on that.
Everybody froze, and looked over at him.
“Did you just do that?" Qibli asked. “Or is this some trick."
“It was me." Starflight smirked. “The benefits of hatching on the brightest night."
Qibli looked at the skyfire bracelet on his wrist. “But how?"
“That doesn't work on me. Michael's still teaching me to do everything."
“Can you read our minds?" Blue asked.
“If I wanted to, but I have it suppressed for now."
“You don't want to read my mind, trust me." Qibli replied.
“I also learned to block others; Moon can't read me anymore."
“You also have those skyfires." Qibli motioned. “She was kinda hurt."
Starflight looked at his own bracelet, and covered it with the sleeve of his suit.
“I'm actually considering giving mine back to Turtle." Qibli added. “No secrets."
Starflight nodded. “Might be a good idea."
They finished getting ready, and walked out into the living room to wait for the girls. Admiral was waiting for them, and smiled at his son when he arrived.
“Look at you, all grown up!" He spoke.
Blue blushed, and Swordtail laughed. They each picked up their masks, and placed them over their faces.
“What is the point of this?" Qibli asked. “I want people to see my face."
“It's so you don't know who you're talking too, and you can meet new people." Blue told him
“But I obviously know who you are." Qibli replied
“Mainly strangers." Blue added.
The door to their right opened, and they all turned and brightened when everybody entered. Starflight watched Blue and Swordtail freeze at the sight of their fiancés. Qibli was smirking at Moon, who was blushing under her mask, and Sunny was gawking at Starflight. There was a palpable tension in the room, but it was broken by the doorbell. Admiral walked over and opened the door, and Michael stepped in. The only thing Starflight recognized was his eyes. He was wearing a black suit covered in shiny white jewels. His blades were covered in etchings, and Starflight wondered how long it took him to do this.
Not long, two seconds in fact. Michael smirked.
“Well, look at you all." Michael spoke. “If we were in Phyrria, nobody would know who you are!"
“Nobody knows us here." Qibli replied.
“You're kidding, the dragonets of destiny are famous everywhere." Michael smirked
“Ugh." Starflight facepalmed.
They walked out of the house, and Starflight saw Trice and Carnados waiting for them. Carnados was wearing an elaborate red suit with a long trailing cloak that covered his wings. He was absolutely covered in rubies and other red gems. Trice on the other hand, had changed her form to a hivewing, and was wearing a black dress covered with gold stitches. Starflight noticed that Trice's dress was similar to Cricket's, but it had different designs.
“Alright, keep you eye out for a white-eyed dragon. He or she will be extremely powerful, and very dangerous. Dangerous enough to be able to hide from me, which is very hard." Michael told them.
They walked towards another mansion, Starflight noticed that Cricket had walked over and was talking excitedly with Trice. Cricket must have gone awhile without talking with another hivewing her age He thought, even though Trice isn't really a hivewing. Sunny hugged close to Starflight, and Starflight smiled at her.
“Excited?" He asked.
“Yeah, but the mask thing freaks me out." Sunny replied.
“It shouldn't be that bad."
“We've been together for fifteen minutes and I already mistook Michael for you." Sunny replied.
Starflight blinked. “Oh."
After a few minutes, they arrived at a large building. The group was greeted with many stares, especially at Moon, Michael, and Starflight. They walked into the ballroom, and Starflight was stunned by the decorations. The room had a vaulted ceiling, and blue and black decorations were strung all over the place. Michael and Carnados quickly disappeared, leaving the rest to figure it out for themselves. Sunny looked stunned by the large event, but she also looked stunning. Starflight watched her for a moment, before turning and walking with her over to the bar.
“What's good here? I've never had any Pantalan drinks." Starflight told the bartender.
“Alcoholic?" The bartender replied
Starflight turned to Sunny, who smirked.
“Yes." She told him. “We'll need a lot to get you to dance."
