Outcast started out as a short story broken into parts without any usual sequence. Some parts were set in the past as dreams/memories and others just seemed out of place yet added more depth and insight to the characters. I decided to write the story in parts but haven't decided on a set path just yet but you will see more of this series soon. Special thanks to DrewtheBull, Sisco and Nokemy for being such great friends and inspirations.

It had been a long time since the fall of modern civilization as we knew it, debates, conflicting views, arguments, conflict and finally war. Modern weapons were the start then came the nuclear armaments that every human being hoped to never see used against one another. After the fallout things had slowly begun to change, life decayed or mutated, what was left of humanity dug in the rubble for scraps, some semblance of normalcy they could find though fleeting as it would be. This went one for a good few centuries until the first Beastman was discovered. To the surviving humans they thought this was just the result of radioactive materials causing some animal to mutate and gain sentience or maybe even a human but none of them truly knew how wrong they were. Upon questioning this Beastman they learned the truth, humans weren't the dominant race on this planet and they were never truly alone either. They stood dumbstruck into silence as the realization of their foolishness dawned upon them. "Human beings thought themselves perfect but you know now how wrong you were. Nature cries in agony as her body is riddled with wounds and scars caused by your own selfish arrogance. Because of humanity Nature is damaged and dying, you either have a choice to help heal this world or surrender it to us Beastmen." he said among the survivors. Chatter erupted as many didn't want to believe what the strange creature said while others were more than willing to aid them in fixing what their kind had destroyed. Puzzled the humans asked how they would be able to heal the planet and with a single move the Beastman raised a clawed paw to the air and flames sparked to life. "Through magic, we can cleanse the world of its ailments and heal it with diligent care and determination. We can rebuild this world anew, better, cleaner and safer than before. You either join us and help or live out your days alone with others like you and watch." Thus begun another separation of humanity, those who were willing to aid the Beastmen and restore the world to good health and those who decided to live and devote their lives for their own personal gain. So began the start of the world's healing through the combined efforts of Beastmen and humans.

"In this new world live tribes specifically designed around single tasks to help heal the world. The Gardeners, consisting of primates, apes and humans. Their roles are to plant new flora around the world to restore the ecosystems for many creatures and provide cleaner air. The Ground Shapers, made up entirely of hooved Beastmen of various species, they are responsible for restoring the earth and mountains, healing the cracks, pits and craters made by the nuclear weapons. The Swimmers, made up of aquatic and semi-aquatic Beastmen they clean the oceans, lakes and waterways, removing debris and hazardous substances in order to make the waters safe and habitable for aquatic life, providing drinking water for all things. The Tunnelers comprised of underground dwelling mammals they're responsible for evaluating cave systems in order for them to be restored and made suitable for underground dwellings. The last and most important of the tribes, the Purifiers, a mix of remaining Beastmen species including Avians. Their role is to travel the world settling in heavily radiated places to absorb the radiation and contain it within a special stone always kept close to their bodies. This tribe is the oldest and technically the first formed amongst the rest started by a single Beastman who brought others with the same desires in alongside him. Besides these tribes there is a single collection of humans still wandering the world on their own, outcasts amongst the rest who allied themselves with the Beastmen, truly wanting a better future while the outcasts remained bitter and distrustful of the others."

Once again alone, Rook finished his reading of an old book written some two hundred years ago before he heard howling, the type one would hear in an old creaky house in the middle of a wind storm, that eerie haunting sound echoing through the old timber walls and empty rooms. Not a good place to be on a night like this, especially not while being chased by something big in the woods but you knew it could not be a Bear, none of those lived in these parts. Looking outside the dirty window he could barely make out much, giving it a rub to clean off the dust and peer out once more only to be met with the shadow of the large beast that was encountered earlier. With a startled yelp he moved back nearly missing the broken furniture strewn about the floor, heart racing, his gaze shifts from various points of the room. The shadow had moved to the right side of the house and on the left were a set of worn rotting stairs covered in moss. With little in the way of options he made a dash for the stairs hearing the sound of glass shattering from the other side of the house in what would be the kitchen, he run faster taking the stairs in twos then threes with some difficulty the adrenaline pumping through his veins. Without warning a couple steps near the top gave way, thinking quickly Rook grabbed the railing and hauled himself forward as the sound of splintering wood rang from the old kitchen, the beast had made its way inside the house and it was hunting this human, the smell of fear thick, heavy, a clear giveaway to the hulking beast that its prey was here. Looking quickly Rook spotted a hallway with three doors, bolting down you notice a few things, the doors were shattered, claw marks lined the walls of the hall, dark blotches littered the floor in large patches and some streaks. Noticing the only door not torn to pieces Rook sprinted to it throwing it open and somewhat restrained shut it again as quietly as he could in an attempt to hide. This was probably the master bedroom and the large metal frame was there complete with the mattress. Silently cursing his fate and with little choice he crawled under the bed hoping the rank smell of the musty molding mattress would throw off his scent, he curl up staying silent as the sound of creaking stairs caught his attention. Listening carefully he could hear it coming closer down the hall slowly almost as if it knew where he was and delighted in the thrill of the hunt, then silence. Peering at the crack under the door the human could see faint traces of light and the shadow of the beast cast down the hall. Rook's breath caught in his throat as the door swung open. Shutting his eyes tight he silenced a scream before it was even that, tucking his head into his chest with his arms wrapped around, he silently waited, the heavy sound of paws with claws clicking on the old wood getting closer and closer before they stopped. Not wanting to take a chance Rook stayed still staying silent like a stone, sniffing and deep growling coming from the beast as it tried to find its prey, a long pause then the sound of paw steps and the creek of the metal frame, as the beast had climbed onto it, the weight making the rotten bed sag low to the ground pinning the human beneath it causing Rook to let out a soft gasp. Minutes pass and he slowly flatten himself to the floor trying to shimmy out from under the mattress, trying to get free. As the human's legs stretch out making the wooden floor creak, he froze in place. For the first time in this encounter Rook felt confident, confident the beast didn't notice, 'It must've fell asleep' he though to himself before suddenly his leg was seized and he got yanked from beneath the bed, letting out a scream of terror as Rook saw nothing but dark fur he shut his eyes. The beast's growls were loud and deep as he waited for the beast to strike each second agonizingly long. . .. ... .... ..... ...... The sound of a loud wet kiss echoed in the room followed by burly laughter. "Found ya again sweetheart, looks like I'm the winner this time." Opening his eyes, Rook met with the gaze of a rather large dark furred canine with a mane of dark jet black fur with some rusty highlights. With a glare the human crossed his arms, having lost meant he had to be the one to hunt and prepare dinner. "When are you ever going to learn not to hide in abandoned buildings like this? It's not hard to find ya hahahaha." Rook sighed and got up following the large Canine out and back to his home to prepare for the hunt. "Whatever Atlas, you better have picked up that book." Rook retorted annoyed. "Of course I did, a book on the history of the tribes is too important to leave behind." said the Canine. Returning to their home for the time being before the first snow fell, soon to hunt for more meat and hides.

Snow, pale white and fair, beautifully glittering in the evening light. Rook sat there shivering as he couldn't find enough animals to hunt and use their hides as protection from the bitter cold. Suddenly wrapped in something heavy, furry and warm Rook jumped where he sat startled and afraid for a moment. Looking up he saw the face of a large canine with pale blue eyes and a smile as warm as the hulking Beastman. He grunted softly he pulled the human against his chest, the canine's muscled belly pressing against Rook's back as he easily dwarfed the human's size considerably, as expected from a literal giant.

"You'll catch your death of cold out here, why do you sit away from us all the time? Are you afraid of us?" he said. Shaking his head Rook looked down at his hands, scarred, rough, worn, the hands of a survivor in the middle of nowhere, stranded and alone, or so he thought.

"I just... don't fit in, I'm an outcast even to my own kind, how could others take me in and care about me so strongly when I have done nothing great for them?" he said. With a deep rumble like thunder in his chest the big canine pondered a moment trying to find the right words.

"Greatness is not something that is just done, greatness is defined by many meanings great and small alike. Everything is great in their own ways and they shine for it like the brightest of stars. You don't have to do anything great for us, because you're already great yourself." Feeling warmth welling up inside as the Beastman spoke those words, Rook had felt like he was not important to anyone but truly he had been proven wrong.

"I am great? Me?" he asked. "Since the day you were born. Now, come inside, we have a hot meal to eat and warm beds to sleep on." With a nod the human stood and followed Atlas inside closely, the cold not bothering him any longer as his heart had been filled with warmth and he of course, became stronger for it. After a hearty meal and a soft bed Rook fell deep asleep for the night.

_"Breathe.... just breathe..." Your eyes snap open, looking around as you sit up you see ruins, architecture strewn everywhere in chunks and pieces. Vegetation reclaiming what was once man made buildings and entire cities. Pain, a dull throb at first then a surge of it claims you. You scream out loud as that same voice from before speaks to you once again. _

_"Easy now, easy, you took quite a fall, It's a miracle you aren't dead but both your legs are broken." they said. Looking up you see him again, that large Canine you've been following. "You humans, first you destroy the world then you get into stupid predicaments like this. No wonder nature favored us Beastmen. Stay still and I'll help, try to keep the noise level down, don't want to attract any predators now would we? Would be bad for both of us." Panting from the pain you mutter something and get a quick smack upside your skull. "Language! I could just leave you to die. Nobody would mourn the death of an outcast like you. Now hold still this is going to hurt a lot." said the large Dog as he moved your bones back in place. More pain, you scream but are silenced by a huge paw that easily enveloped your head, the fingers effortlessly wrapped around your skull. "Shhhh..." a quick warning as the Canine scanned the area for a moment before returning to the task at hand. After what felt like eternity your legs had been returned to their proper place and you were given a rather bitter concoction to drink but it took away the pain as your legs were slowly being healed by the large Canine. Thank the gods that with the fall of modern civilization magic had returned to the Earth, the plants, the water, even the wind and fire. Beastmen, forces of nature some civil, some savage. Made by nature to reclaim her broken scarred body and heal it from centuries of war, pollution and destruction. Not an easy task for such Beasts. "Your legs are healed; I wish you well on your travels and do stay out of trouble." said the large Canine. You noticed an odd feature to him, a stone set in his chest, maybe some sort of body modification? Noticing your stare the Canine quickly pulled his rough spun cloak around himself hiding it from view. "Don't get any ideas, It's not some gem you can steal and sell off to another. You will find it is very choosy of its master and does not like to be handled by the greedy." You stand up, your clothes stained with your blood from your injuries. _

_"Wasn't thinking of stealing it, just think it unusual to see such a thing in a place like that with no cord nor chain." you say. The Dog chuckles, shaking his head softly as he walks away from you. _

"It's set in my bones, not something any typical man nor Beastman would have. If you want to come with me feel free to, I'm returning to my pack, there you'll at least be safe, now we best get out of here before these ruins come falling down on us." You silently agreed and followed him climbing up piles of rubble to get out as bits and pieces tumble down. Without much warning they grew in frequency before the sound of falling debris, looking up you see a large chunk coming right for you, if you tried to descend too fast, you'd most likely fall to your death and you couldn't climb fast enough to get out of the way. "Look out!" Is all you hear before the world suddenly went black with the sound of a heavy dense thud...

Sudden screams echoed through the cavern, loud screams, of alarm? No, no rogue human would be foolish enough to try to pillage a group of Beastmen, these were screams of terror, pure terror. Rook had awoken from sleep, screaming at the top of his lungs. But was it a dream, a nightmare, or a memory? He found himself quickly in the arms of that large Canine named Atlas, the Beastman's voice low and soothing as he held the frightened human trying to calm him. "It was just a dream, please be silent, just breathe, breathe, easy... easy, shhhh It's alright, you're safe, you're safe." he cooed, his large paws softly holding Rook's hands. Those large smooth pads seemed to calm him a little, coupled with the warmth and softness of his fur.

"It wasn't a dream, I remembered when we met, when you saved me not once but twice in one day." Rook shivered slightly still haunted by the memory of his near death.

"That was so long ago and yet you still remember that moment? Had I not scooped you up you'd be crushed."

Rook's gaze turned upward at the Canine, meeting those icy blue eyes before breaking away, his face flushing red. The human took a deep breath and leaned back reaching a hand up to softly caress the large Dog's cheek. To Rook's surprise Atlas didn't pull away but leaned into it softly. "You're just a big softie aren't you?" Rook asked, chuckling softly. He was answered with a hug and a soft peck on the cheek as the smaller being was lifted into the Dog's arms.

"Sometimes the biggest giants have to be gentle and soft or we risk harming everything and everyone around us. However, one should never mistake our gentle natures for being easy targets. We still have far more bite than bark hidden away where we hope we will not need to use it. For even big scary giants we may be, we still have soft tender hearts within. Now you may sleep with me for the night, so as to avoid anymore unpleasant memories." Rook couldn't help but admire the strength of this giant Canine, even so the amount of restraint and care he exhibited while holding him was astounding. The stories and legends of such huge creatures told in the human's clan before being cast out were true on that aspect. That same gentle care was exhibited as Rook was set on a bed of furs and soft hay, this section of the cave quite a ways away from the rest of the pack. The giant Canine enjoyed his privacy whenever he could get it, at least it seemed that way. With a soft grunt that same giant climbed into the bed next to the human holding him close to his larger body.

"Why exactly were you cast out of your clan? You don't seem so bad to me to warrant such treatment. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, no pressure." Rook pondered for a moment thinking it over before reaching up to softly stroke the Canine's cheek.

"I was born... different. Because of that I was always treated differently and once I came of age they tried to do something to me but I fought them off the best I could then I was cast out after wounding my own father." Silence followed for a few minutes as the Dog pondered the information just shared.

"Born different in what way? You look like a normal human to me in every detail." he said inquisitively. The human's face flushed at the question, gathering his courage he grabbed Atlas' much larger paw and guided it low, those soft pads gliding over the human's smooth skin before they hit their intended destination leaving him to exhale in a soft gasp before the Canine pulled his paw away.

"You were, are-"

"A freak? Something not normal?" Rook said bluntly before being rolled onto his back, Atlas towering over him.

"No! No, not a freak, not unnatural. You are special, rare even in human kind. A naturally born male with the opposite sex's genitalia." he said, sincerity clear in his voice like the summer days.

"How is this normal? How is any of it-"

"Because Nature deemed it so. Your former clan is a clan of fools and bastards. You, you are beautiful, in every detail. I had my suspicions but now I know they were right about you. I couldn't bring myself to ask you it didn't feel right." Staring up at him Rook could see the sincerity, the kind that came from the heart. His face flushed red as he lay beneath Atlas, this towering male Beastman.

"You think, y-you think I'm b-beautiful?" he stuttered. The Canine nodded softly his gaze not wavering for even a moment.

"Everything Nature creates is beautiful, even you humans despite all the flaws and differences you have, each a facet of an individual gem cut and polished into something unique. You uh... you gasped when I um, touched you. Did I hurt you?"

"No, no it felt good actually." Rook looked away blushing but his gaze was directed back up at the face of the giant Dog.

"Would you want to feel more? I'd understand if you say no, I don't want to push myself onto yo-" he spoke yet silenced by a soft kiss. The kiss warmed both hearts slightly. Melting the ice that had frosted over both beings sensibilities. A kiss so simple yet so unexpectedly overpowering. It deepened with reception from the other. Lips pressing deeper into the verge of lusts ever growing embrace. A hand raised, a grasp, a pull. They fell back one atop the other.

"I'd like to feel more." Rook said, a hard heavy blush over his face. Without another word Atlas leaned down kissing the human's lips while his paws softly roamed over that slim smooth body eliciting plenty of soft gasps and sweet moans from his partner. Rook couldn't help but react, all these sensations weren't exactly new but this time they were welcome and wanted as he had found a partner he could trust. The pair continued to kiss and touch each other, hands brushed fur and paws glided over smooth supple skin. What seemed like hours was only a few minutes as the two slowly got deeper into their lustful desires, nibbles lead to bites, soft pecks turned to deep passionate kisses as the large dog and the human could no longer hold back. Atlas sat up as he started removing what little clothing he had on his furred body while Rook shed the makeshift clothes he'd been wearing. With a swift motion Atlas scooped up the human scooting him back up against the smooth stone wall, the cool rock causing Rook to gasp as his back pressed against it. With a soft kiss Atlas lead a trail down from his partner's rosy lips down over the human's chest and belly before finally arriving at his target, the human's aroused genitalia. A soft kiss then Atlas' tongue glided over those soft velvety folds teasing the human and causing him to whimper and gasp with each stroke. The big dog was gentle but hungry, eager to taste his partner more, get deeper all the while Rook cried out holding his hands on the dog's larger head, toes curling and face contorted in ecstasy. The sounds of pleasured cries just got louder while Atlas pressed his tongue in deeper, feeling those soft tender walls inside Rook's male pussy, feeling the heat inside which drove him further, his blunt claws lightly raking Rook's skin leaving red marks as he lost himself to the pleasures of his human partner.

"Oh-ohh gods Atlas! I ohhhh p-please don't stop A-Atlas!" Rook cried. The human's body quickly pulled away from the cave wall as his lower half was lifted into the air, the dog's tongue still buried deep inside as he licked and slurped up the human's sweet nectar positively drunk on the taste and scent of his partner. Loud lewd slurps and pants echoed around the rock walls while the dog ate his partner out till his heart was content. Rook couldn't help but lay there halfway on the bed of skins while crying louder, his back arching as his partner's tongue hit sweet spots inside him he didn't even know about. With a loud slurp Atlas pulled his tongue free, his breath coming in deep ragged gasps as he stared down at the face of his new lover and his cheeks flushed with a deep blush before setting the human's legs down. Licking his muzzle he looked away a bit as his paw wrapped around the base of his canine shaft with a half formed knot, thick clear pre dripping to the bed as his free paw conjured a magic circle.

"I can't take you being as big as I am but I can change that if you'd like." said the Beastman, his eyes showing intense lust and longing for his human lover. With a soft nod Rook leaned back watching as Atlas' size diminished till he was close enough to that of the human. In a single moment Atlas was on top, his soft fluffy body pressed up against Rook's own smooth hairless frame. In the warm embrace of his canine lover Rook couldn't help but gasp and squirm at his touch. It was like magic, how two beings so similar yet so different fit together so perfectly, Rook cradled in Atlas' strong arms as their bodies rocked with a rhythm all their own. The human's cries of bliss as his beastly lover claimed that warm tight hole for himself, the slick walls inviting and strangely intoxicating for the Beastman's rock hard shaft plowing into those warm depths. Rook's hands ran through his lover's fur tightening into fists at times when he'd get a sudden rough thrust making his body gasp and arch in ecstasy. Atlas' head drew back facing the ceiling as the intensity of the other wrapped around him grew tighter. Their bodies rocking in unison to meet each others movement. The heat of their bodies flooding between them, swelling and growing. A howl forcing its way out of the beasts mouth, a howl of dominance, of lust, of total need. The humans body shook in pleasure, writhing as something began to build in his depths, a surge of intense warmth preparing to rush up through his soul. Loosening his grip Rook slid his hands grabbing as close to the beasts neck as he could, trying desperately to draw his eyes back down. To bring his handsome muzzle to face the small human, he needed it so badly. To see his eyes shine as they became lost amongst each other. With a tug he lowered his head down just enough, giving him a faint glance through clenched eyes.

"Kiss me...show me...show me...what nature demands!" Those words echoed from spoken to moans, barely able to hold his body in self containment. HIs manhood pulsed for release, needing so badly to let go of all his built up passions.

"As you wish..." said Atlas before his lips met the human's silencing any further cries of bliss. Holding a paw to that smooth tender face the Beastman ramped up his pace, spurring his lover on to more desperate needy actions, gripping, panting and begging for all manner of this this Beast could give him. Finally in one strong primal rush Atlas' moans gave way to howls as he held himself tightly inside Rook's warm depths pushing that knot inside the human, spilling his seed as deep as he possibly could, claiming his lover as his and his alone. Rook's voice barely capable of speech could only produce the sweetest notes of ecstasy upon reaching his climax, the sound like music to the ears of his lover. After the moment was over and the two lovers lay together Atlas held Rook closer softly caressing a paw over the Human's body. Through his eyes Rook's features glowed as if they were made of the most radiant light imaginable, that fair skin glistening with sweat, the copper hair laying strewn on the bed and those emerald green eyes staring up at him full of love and passion.

"You are the most amazing creature I have ever encountered Atlas." said the human.

"No, I am one of many just like me but you, you are a gem that sparkles and shines brighter than any other. I would be honored to call you my own, to love you, cherish you, guide you and mold you into the best possible version of yourself. If you'll have me of course."

"Shut up and kiss me again you handsome beast." said Rook, yanking Atlas' head down and kissing his lips. Unknown to the two lovers someone watched in the shadows, bright green eyes full of sorrow and longing before the figure retreated away from the lovers into another part of the cave, laying on the ground silently weeping from a broken heart.
