Conversations

He’d had another fight with Abdul and it was ruffling his fur like it always did. This tended to happen a lot around election times. They tried to avoid politics in general conversation for the most part, but it wasn’t something they could keep up forever, especially when it was on everyone’s mind and plastered over the news wherever you looked.
Jared was hurrying down the crowded city street, his tail puffed out and his ears pointing backward angrily. He paid little mind to the people around him as they parted before his determined march. They probably didn’t think much of him either beyond a passing glance at the frustrated cheetah.
Over time, he and Abdul had learned to work together despite their differences of opinion and were now in their third year together as a couple. That wasn’t to say that that time had been without its fair share of conflict, though, that was for sure.
It wasn’t always he who started it, nor was it always Abdul. It was simply the result of taking two strong-willed individuals with different beliefs and having them interact with each other on a daily basis. Jared certainly wasn’t complaining about that, though. He wouldn’t give up his relationship for anything in the world, no matter how hard the fennec made that sometimes. He said the fox made him a better cheetah, so at the end of the day it was all worth it.
Together, they had learned how to have conversations with each other that wouldn’t bubble over into heated arguments, at least most of the time. It required them to listen to each other—actually listen, no matter how much their stubbornness may have commanded otherwise—and to trust that the other was truly thinking about what they thought was best for everyone. Even then, sometimes something slipped through the crack. When they were both so sure that if the other could just see things their way, or when something came out in a way that they hadn’t intended to say it, or when one of them got defensive if they felt like they were losing the argument and tried to latch on to anything they could to try to stabilize themselves while their world rocked around them.
Occasionally they were able to reach a consensus. Every once in a while, one of them was able to convince the other with the right argument. Sometimes they got each other to reevaluate their positions slightly, even if they didn’t completely change their stance. But more often than not, they left a conversation without changing each other’s mind. Most of the time that was okay, but this time they had gotten into a particularly passionate exchange and they had started yelling. This time it had been Abdul that snapped and accused Jared of not really caring about the victims of the latest tragedy. Jared had hit back just as hard and they devolved into shouting at each other until he grew fed up and stormed out of their apartment, leaving Abdul to simmer in his own anger.
Fights like this one were rare and they usually didn’t resort to accusing each other of bad motivations. Neither of them had ever stormed out during an argument. Sometimes they would separate to cool down, but neither of them had ever left like he had. It was just that the fennec could be so stubborn sometimes. To be fair, he was too, but in his eyes he was still in the right. Jared was angry that Abdul couldn’t just see that what he was saying was true, sure that he would agree if he just opened himself up to the idea. He was angry that the fennec had said he didn’t care about the victims. He was angry that it bothered him so much to have heard the fox say that. He was angry at himself for being angry.
Jared growled at the air and turned into a large bar, the sign above the door naming it the Sick Puppy. It was the place he went when he needed to destress and unwind. The staff was nice, but unobtrusive, and the drinks were good. The best part was that it was always busy and there seemed to be new people there whenever he went, meaning that it was great if he wanted to get lost in the crowd.
Tonight did not disappoint him as he was immediately assaulted by the sound and smell of too many people that even his less-sensitive nose could detect. Abdul would’ve been suffocating in it with his canid sense of smell. That thought both amused Jared and soured his mood further, so he made a beeline for the bar and ordered a gin and tonic.
He sat quietly once the bartender gave him his drink, trying not to think about his argument with Abdul and watching the people around him to occupy his mind. He saw two raccoons talking happily at a table, their paws overlapping in the center. They burst out in laughter suddenly and Jared could see their smiles. Bet they don’t have a disagreement every time they put on the news, he thought darkly. Sometimes he wished his relationship with Abdul could be that simple. Then he wouldn’t have to deal with the stress and anger he was facing now and his life would be easier. He asked himself if that was really what he wanted, but he didn’t want to think about it so he put it out of his mind.
He had finished his first drink and was halfway through his second when he was startled out of his brooding by a sudden movement coming from the space next to him. He looked up to see a lemur set himself on the stool next to him, his tail swishing around excitedly as he glanced at Jared. The primate’s eyes flicked down below his belt and let his eyes linger there for a moment, checking him out before he looked back at his face. Jared felt his collar tighten a little at the attention. The lemur turned away for a second to order a whiskey and Jared took the moment to give him a once-over in return. He looked nice. Slim and fit, but not too muscular for his tastes, with well-maintained fur that looked like it would feel nice to run his paws through.
His drink ordered, the lemur turned back to Jared with a coy grin on his muzzle and saw that he was still staring. “Buy a fella a drink first?” His voice was high and had a bit of a smokey undertone that made the cheetah’s blood rush. Or maybe that was the alcohol.
Jared turned to face his companion more fully, taking on a confident smirk of his own. “I try not to make a habit of buying things for strangers,” he said, his confidence showing in his nonchalant delivery. “They might get the wrong idea.”
The lemur was being teased and he seemed to know it, but if he minded he gave no indication. “Oh? What makes you so sure it’s the wrong idea?” he asked.
In the back of his mind, Jared knew that he was in dangerous territory here. A small part of him was asking, ‘what about Abdul?’ but the larger part of him was still angry and the alcohol was making it hard to think straight enough to come up with an argument for why he shouldn’t be flirting with the lemur. That part of him wanted to get back at the fox in his anger. Show him and his stubborn muzzle, he thought through the cloud settling over his mind. “I’ve got a better way of giving people the right idea. Seems to gets the point across pretty well,” he rumbled and saw the primate’s ears flick in interest and his grin widen.
His drink arrived then but he ignored it for a second to respond, hooding his eyes and leaning in closer to the cheetah. “I’m intrigued, care to elaborate?” The lemur brought his glass to his lips and downed it all in one go without breaking eye contact. He hardly even winced as he swallowed the liquor, staring at Jared with a smoldering gaze the whole time.
Jared could feel a tightening in his pants, deciding for him that it was time to move things along. “Maybe I can show you. I find that hands-on learning is the most enjoyable.”
“Are you sure you’re up for the task?” the lemur teased, smiling. “I’ve been told I can be a lot to handle.”
Jared growled playfully in return. “And maybe I can show you something better to do with that muzzle of yours while we’re at it,” he shot back
“Mmm,” the lemur hummed. “Now you’re speaking my language. The name’s Keith.” He extended his paw and the cheetah grasped it in turn.
“Jared.” The lemur’s paw was soft and warm.
“So, what brings you to the bar?” Keith asked evenly after a few seconds.
“Stress relief,” he answered. Jared was still trying not to think about Abdul. It was a lot easier to just be angry in the back of his mind. “You?”
“I suppose you could say the same,” he said. “Looking to forget about things for a little while.”
Jared finished off the rest of his drink and set the glass down on the table. He was more than ready now and the alcohol wouldn’t let him say otherwise. “I think I’ve got just the thing for that.”
A gleam appeared in the lemur’s eyes. “There’s a room in the back where you can show me.” His tail lashed around behind him and Jared could see his excitement even if he couldn’t smell it over everything else in the bar. “Nice and private.”
“Lead on.”
They paid for their drinks and the lemur led them out of the maze of people, through a set of doors into an empty hallway, and then through another door that led to a storage room full of kegs and bottles of liquor. The room was a bit cool, but they weren’t too bothered by it much—things would be heating up soon enough.
“Is it okay for us to be in here?” Jared asked, not sure if the answer really mattered. He was horny and drunk and he wasn’t sure if there was a whole lot that would deter him now, not with his erection inflating at its current rate.
Keith nodded as he closed the door and locked it. “‘S long as we don’t leave a mess.” He began to rub his hands across the cheetah’s chest. He was slightly smaller than Jared, who enjoyed looking down at the lemur while he fondled him. Keith then started moving downward until he dropped to his knees. His paws found themselves at Jared’s crotch, squeezing through the fabric while he undid the button and zipper.
Jared was already almost at full-mast, being pushed quickly along by the insistent paw that felt along his shaft through his underwear. “Big kitty,” Keith purred.
The cheetah felt his ego inflate and he placed his paws on the lemur’s shoulder, squeezing encouragingly as the touches moved upward to the waistband of his underwear and began teasing around its edge. The primate leaned forward and began to nuzzle the package before him, his movements growing more excited with each passing second.
Jared was now fully hard and the lemur’s attention was beginning to send jolts of pleasure through his shaft and the rest of his body. He pressed back against Keith lightly to increase the pressure as his breathing quickened.
Then, the pressure was gone for a second and he felt his pants being pulled down alongside his underwear. He squeezed the shoulders he was grabbing more tightly as the material was pulled past his erection, causing it to bounce before the lemur’s twitching nose while he reached for the cheetah with his paws, taking him in his grasp. “You smell delicious,” he husked.
Though he was fighting the urge to start panting as he felt light touches on his barbs, Jared still managed to speak coherently. “Bet you say that to everyone.”
The lemur just looked Jared in the eyes and smirked, using one paw to begin unfastening his own pants while the other started to work its way up and down the cheetah’s shaft. “Only the guys I’m about to blow.” He released Jared for a moment to pull his pants down to the floor and grabbed his own erection in one paw.
The moment of reprieve gave Jared time to step back for a second and the realization of what he was doing started to come together in his head. He was feeling the beginnings of regret form inside him when he felt heat envelop his shaft and it became difficult to think again. The unexpectedness of the sensations forced a moan out of his muzzle and he moved one of his paws up to hold onto the top of the lemur’s head. All of his worries were lost once more in a hot mouth and pleasurable sensations.
Keith seemed to have had a lot of practice as he bobbed his head and rubbed the base with one paw while teasing the cheetah’s barbs with his tongue. Jared’s heart quickened and he thrust lightly into the lemur’s mouth, trying not to push too hard or quickly. He mostly let the lemur do the work, only providing light pressure with the paw on his head, preferring to let the primate guide the pace.
From above, Jared could hear, and smell, the lemur’s own arousal as he stroked himself. The muzzle working around his erection was bringing him steadily toward a climax. He continued to enjoy the slickness and heat surrounding him, holding himself back as long as he could while he continued to climb higher and higher.
When he felt that he was almost there he gasped out, “Ah...I’m close,” continuing to pump lightly into the lemur’s snout. Keith seemed to redouble his efforts at his proclamation, sucking and bobbing vigorously while continuing to tease Jared with his tongue. The cheetah could feel his barbs becoming extra sensitive as the pressure built up and he let go of the lemur’s shoulder to grasp aimlessly at the wall behind him. His control broke slightly in the pleasure and his next couple thrusts came a bit harder before he reached his tipping point.
He cried out quietly as he felt his spunk shoot into Keith’s muzzle and electricity spread through his body in an explosive wave while he watched himself disappear in the lemur’s mouth. His body tingled excitedly, pulsing in time with his shaft as he emptied himself, panting deeply all the while. He continued for several seconds before he slowly came down.
Keith pulled off of his shaft slowly and swallowed his come, reaching his own climax a few seconds later. He twitched and moaned quietly while he caught his seed with his paw, being careful not to get any on the floor. Jared watched him bemusedly in his afterglow but with a rapidly growing cloud within him.
He tried, unsuccessfully, to focus on the satisfied feeling that was spreading through his body, instead feeling an icy chill seeping its way into his bones. The buzz he had been feeling was starting to clear up a little and he was able to focus more clearly on what was going on. His anger was gone and so when his thoughts finally turned to Abdul he immediately felt like a piece of shit. He looked down at Keith, who was licking the come from his paw, and his softening shaft, still wet from the lemur’s mouth.
Feeling a little sick to his stomach, Jared reached down and pulled up his pants, stuffing his shaft back in, not even caring that it was still wet with spit. “Thanks,” he said quickly and then he was unlocking the door and leaving the room as quickly as he could without running. Time seemed to slow around him as, with each step, he felt his emotions jostling around and his thoughts amplifying inside his head.
What had he just done? He couldn’t erase the image of Abdul’s face in his mind next to that of his shaft disappearing inside Keith’s mouth. The combination made his insides twist uncomfortably as he stumbled out of the bar into the night as if in a stupor. The streets were emptier than they had been earlier in the night, but still busy. Jared didn’t even see them, though. He just hunched over next to the entrance and stared at the sidewalk beneath his feet.
In three years he had never once even come close to cheating on Abdul, but that had come crashing down all at once with one night and some drinks and a guy he had just met. Oh God. Jared wanted to throw up, but nothing was forthcoming so he just stayed like he was. Was it really that easy for him to forget his boyfriend? He loved him, didn’t he? How much did he really love him if he was able to do this with hardly any hesitation on his part? His mind kept returning to Abdul’s face and his feeling of regret grew with each moment that went by.
Suddenly, swimming out from somewhere in the hazy depths of his thoughts, he felt the need to return to his fox so that he could see him again and apologize. He didn’t know what exactly he was going to do, but he knew that he needed to talk to Abdul. To hear him speak so that he wouldn’t be trapped in his own head like he was now. To know that everything would be okay.
If only he could be sure about that last one.
Feeling weak, he hailed a cab and got in, not wanting to walk back in his current state, and collapsed in on himself the moment he sat down. He slumped silently in the seat for a couple seconds before he remembered that he needed to tell the driver his address.
The whole ride back he tried to figure out what to say. ‘I’m sorry for getting a blowjob behind your back’ wasn’t right. He could just not tell him, but that was a can of worms that Jared knew wouldn’t lead anywhere good. Maybe he could let Abdul get a blowjob from a stranger as well, but that didn’t sit right with him. He didn’t own his boyfriend and he couldn’t ‘let’ Abdul do anything. Not to mention that it was basically paying off Abdul to make up for something he did wrong and that wouldn’t solve the problem either.
All the while, as his thoughts raced around his head, the cab was bringing him closer and closer to home, where he’d have to confront Abdul one way or another. He considered getting a hotel room, just for the night so that he could calm his mind before he had to talk to the fennec. But again, that was just running from his problems and he knew that he wouldn’t be able to get any sleep with this hanging over his head.
It was just as the cab pulled up in front of his apartment building that his addled brain finally spat up an answer, or at least maybe a path to an answer. He paid the driver his fare and walked into the lobby where he sat down on one of the cushions and pulled out his phone. He searched through his contacts until he found the one he needed and hit call.
It was a few rings before he heard the voice on the other end, a bit thick and tired sounding. “Hello?”
The cheetah glanced at the time and felt his ears flatten a little when he saw that it was 11:36. “Did I wake you?” he asked guiltily.
He heard the puma on the other end grunt before he said, “Not yet. I was just getting down to bed.” He didn’t sound like he had just woken up, but Jared didn’t entirely believe him anyway. Either way, his friend was awake now so he might as well get on with what he called him for.
Jared took a deep breath to get his bearings first and then dove head in. “Listen, Vasi…” He struggled with what to say first. He had known the puma for years now, but this still wasn’t something he was used to talking to him about. The reason he had called his friend was because he knew that if anyone would be able to help him without chewing him out for cheating on his fox it would be the puma. He would definitely still chew him out, just at a later date when he didn’t immediately need his help.
He was stalling, but he knew there was nothing to do about it besides to just get it out. He braced himself and then the words were bursting from his lips. “I cheated on Abdul.” There was an uncomfortable silence across the line and Jared knew that Vasi was waiting for him to continue before he said anything himself. Grateful that his friend was going to let him talk uninterrupted, he forged on. The words poured out of him more easily now that the ice was broken. “We were having another fight, and we were yelling at each other, and he accused me of not caring about people’s lives so I stormed out and went to the bar.” He took a pause to take a deep breath and let it out. “There was a lemur there and he was interested and I’d had a few drinks and I was still angry at Abdul so we went to the back room and I...,” he couldn’t finish.
There was more silence from Vasi’s end and Jared was about to speak up again when the puma said, “So what are you going to do?” and he was relieved that the puma didn’t push him for information.
He was unable to respond immediately, feeling frustration bubbling up from his chest. “I don’t know,” he snapped before reigning himself in. Vasi was just trying to help. “I’m just...I’m in our apartment building lobby. I’m going to go up, I just don’t know what to tell him.” He waited for his friend’s response, hoping he would give him advice.
“You’re going to tell him what happened.” Anyone else probably would have thought that was a statement, but the cheetah knew better. Deep down, Jared knew that he wanted to tell the truth; Vasi was making sure he knew what he wanted.
He didn’t have to take too much time to come up with his response. “Yeah, I can’t hide it…Won’t,” he amended.
“Then I think you already know what you’re going to do. You’re going to talk to Abdul and then whatever comes next will come and you’ll work through it.”
His friend’s words were oddly comforting, even if they didn’t actually settle his fear of the fennec’s reaction. He couldn’t just let his doubts go, but he didn’t have to let them stop him from doing what he wanted. Still. “What if he reacts badly? What if he gets mad and we start arguing again? What if…” He let that ‘what if’ hang there, not wanting to give voice to the worst of his worries for fear that they could become real.
Vasi snorted through the phone. “You really thinks he’s going to react well?” He sighed and lost most of his snark. “Jared,” he was silent for a time but the cheetah didn’t know what to say either so he just waited. “You and I both know that you’re not going to lie to Abdul. And it doesn’t matter if you regret it, or if you were angry, or anything. You’re responsible for getting yourself here and now you’re going to have to deal with any repercussions that that comes with.” Jared stayed silent. “Listen, you and Abdul have been together for a really long time now. You two’ve been through a lot and Abdul’s really sweet. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy, but I’m sure that you’ll be able to talk through it.”
If only it were as easy as that made it sound. Sure, they could try to talk about it, but that didn’t mean it would work. Jared couldn’t keep the doubt from trying to creep it’s way into his response. “That doesn’t make it any less scary,” he said in a half-whisper.
“No, it shouldn’t,” Vasi replied. “Relationships are scary, but they’re worth it if you make it through the scary parts. You love Abdul, and he loves you, and that’s worth fighting the scary things for.”
Jared knew he was right, and he believed him too. He felt a lot calmer than he did before talking to Vasi, even if he could still feel his nerves fluttering around anxiously beneath the surface. The puma had helped him a lot and Jared knew that there wasn’t much more he could do so he thanked his friend and hung up after Vasi told him good luck.
Jared stood up and made his way to the elevator, determined to go now while he still had all of his courage. He tried to think about what to say as the box began to rise up into the air, but nothing was forthcoming so he gave up and decided that he would come up with something when the time came. When the elevator dinged and the doors opened he felt himself starting to get worked up again and he hurried to get to the door to his apartment before he second-guessed himself. He waited only a second before unlocking the door and swinging it open.
The apartment looked the same as it had when he had left it. Abdul’s house decorations could be seen around the apartment, from the candles on the dining table to the plants in the living space. It smelled like Jared, but it also smelled like Abdul, their distinct scents entwined in a way that usually lifted his spirits but currently only filled him with apprehension.
The thing that stuck out to him the most was that he didn’t see Abdul after scanning the apartment with his eyes. He was just starting to wonder if the fox had gone to bed as the door clicked closed behind him when two big ears perked up over the back of the couch where he hadn’t been able to see them. The rest of the fox followed a second later, looking stricken and hopeful and scared all at once. The fennec let out a pitiful whine when their eyes met and Jared saw the tear tracks in the fur around his face, and knew that he had been crying at some point, too. Seeing Abdul looking like this hit the cheetah with another wave of self-loathing, enough so that he briefly considered turning tail and leaving. But his instincts were telling him that his fox needed him and it was his duty to comfort him so he stayed where he was.
Before he could make a move or say anything, a small, furry body with big ears shot up from the couch and came barreling toward him, practically leaping into his arms. Jared braced himself and received the new weight as gracefully as he could in his slightly inebriated state, supporting half the fox’s weight as he leaned into him. Abdul was breathing erratically, his face pressed into Jared’s chest, and the cheetah knew that he was fighting off tears once again.
They stayed like that for a little, Jared still unsure what to do, so he just continued to hold Abdul in his arms. He wanted to tell the fox, but he wasn’t sure that he should say anything until the vulpine had calmed down a little first, and so he waited while Abdul composed himself and finally lifted his face away to look up at his muzzle. “Jared,” his voice croaked a little from crying, “I’m so sorry.”
He felt his throat constrict uncomfortably. He had to tell him. “Ab.”
“I didn’t mean anything I said earlier. I was angry and I was being dumb—”
“Ab,” he tried again, weakly. He was starting to feel even more terrible, but the fennec paid no mind. He needed to tell Abdul that he shouldn’t be sorry.
“—and I shouldn’t have said it. I felt shitty the moment you left and—”
“Abdul,” He said, more firmly this time. The fox finally stopped and his jaw snapped shut. He looked at Jared hesitantly, like a wounded animal. It felt like someone was stabbing the cheetah’s heart with a hot poker just seeing the pain that he had caused and knowing that the worst pain was yet to come. “Please,” he shook his head, having trouble forming words. His voice was thick with emotion. “Please stop.”
The fennec didn’t know what to say to that at first. Jared saw Abdul’s nose twitch and sniff the air then, and he knew he could smell the alcohol that was probably all over him. He felt better than he had back at the bar, but he wouldn’t doubt that the alcohol was still having some effect on him even now. “Have you been drinking?” the fox asked, but then his expression changed again and his resolve doubled. “That’s not important. I’m serious, it was a shitty thing for me to do and I’m sorry.”
Jared shook his head again, not sure how to make him see. “No, I…” he didn’t know how to say it. He needed to do it because right now Abdul was feeling sorry for what he had done when he should be angry at what Jared had done. He thought about his conversation with Vasi and decided that he just had to get it out there, one way or another. His mind made up, he felt his lips part and, feeling like he was watching events unfold from a position outside of his body, he heard himself say, “I cheated on you.”
He was staring down at Abdul when he said it and he watched as the confusion spread across the fennec’s face and the ears that pinned themselves back. The fox’s tail, which had already been fairly still, became completely motionless. “Wha…”
Jared could see the beginnings of hurt start to show on his face and he rushed to go on. “I was angry when I left and I went to the bar and I had a couple drinks.” He didn’t want to say anymore, but he owed it to Abdul to tell him the truth. “There was a lemur and he was flirting with me and I was still angry so we went into a back room and—and he blew me.”
Abdul didn’t say anything, but his eyes were searching Jared’s, hurt evident in their depths. The silence grew longer and the fennec just continued to look at him as if looking for something that would eventually reveal itself on his face. The wait was killing Jared and he eventually said the only other thing he could think to say. “I’m sorry.”
The fox finally extricated himself from Jared’s arms and turned to walk back to the couch, shoulders hunched in on himself and arms crossed in front of his chest. They stood there for what felt like forever while the cheetah’s mind raced and he thought about every possible bad outcome from this situation. He had done exactly as Vasi had told him to do and now the ball was in Abdul’s court. Jared was not comforted by the fennec’s silence and body language and he continued to grow more uneasy with each passing second.
Finally, it became too much. “Please. Say something,” he pleaded.
Abdul didn’t respond at first, but he finally turned around. Jared saw the betrayal that was still evident in his expression, but also confusion and a dejectedness he had not been ready for. He had prepared himself for the fox to be angry and yell at him. He had not prepared himself for this.
“Like what?” Jared was snapped out of his thoughts by the fennec’s voice. “What do you want me to say?”
Jared didn’t know how to respond, but he did know that anything would be better than more silence so he tried his best. “Anything? I just…” a sob racked his body out of nowhere. He hadn’t realized it before, but his body was trembling. “Oh God,” another sob, “I’m so sorry, I fucked up.” He broke down then, tears started flowing freely and the sobs kept coming. “I wanna go back, I never should’ve left.” Another sob shook his frame. “I’m the worst.” He stopped to take a big, stuttering breath when he suddenly felt two paws grab his upper arms.
He blinked his eyes clear and focused on the fox that had come back to stand in front of him. “Jared,” Abdul said.
He didn’t continue and Jared just whined in frustration. “Why aren’t you mad at me?” he asked with a sniffle. His eyes were clouding up with tears again so he had to reach up to clear them.
“You want me to be mad at you?” the fennec was smiling, if only very slightly, before it went away with a shake of his head. His large ears had lifted from his head a little and the ends flopped around along with his movements. “I am angry, but I’m also trying to process this and being angry at each other is the reason we’re here in the first place so I’m trying not to have that happen again.”
His calmness frustrated Jared and made him start to question himself. It felt like he was suffocating and he was grasping around for something to hold on to to get his head above the water until he thought back to his conversation with Vasi again. Abdul hadn’t pushed him away yet—he’d actually come back to him when he started crying—so maybe things weren’t all lost yet.
He reached his own paws out and placed them on the fennec’s waist, waiting for a moment to gauge his reaction before leaving them there when he didn’t flinch or pull away. He could still feel tears leaving their mark on his face, but the sobs had slowed and he was starting to feel in control again. “Ab, listen, I...there’s no excusing what I did,” he struggled with his words, trying to make sure he said exactly what he wanted to say to make sure that Abdul understood, “but I wasn’t in the right state of mind. I wish I could just undo it. I wish I never went to the bar. I…” he hesitated and looked the fennec in the eye to give him the courage to go on. “I love you.”
For a second, the fennec’s face brightened hopefully and Jared felt his mood lift sympathetically, but then the fox turned his head to look down at the ground beside him and took his paws off of Jared’s arms. The feline felt himself plummet back down and the despair began to take hold once more. “I know you love me,” Abdul said, “and I believe you, but what happens the next time you’re not in the right state of mind?” Jared could see the way Abdul was trying to shield himself, to stay guarded. The way his shoulders were still hunched over. “How do I know you’ll not be angry at me again the next time someone offers their muzzle?”
The cheetah didn’t have an immediate response to that. He could feel the walls closing in around him again and he could feel his room for maneuvering start to disappear. The tightness in his chest returned and he knew he would start gasping for air again soon. Though he was probably mostly sober at this point, it still felt like the alcohol was distracting him just enough that he was finding it hard to think. Then, for the third time since he entered the apartment, he found refuge in the advice of one puma. “Because I love you,” he started, “and I’m willing to fight for that. I…” Be honest, he told himself. You owe him that. “Look, I wouldn’t trust me either, but I’ve never felt worse about something in my entire life.” He took a breath that was only broken up by a few stutters. “I’ll understand whatever you say, but…” he trailed off a bit, uncertainly. “I don’t know what to say. Just that I’ll do anything.”
Abdul was shaking his head again and he returned his attention to Jared, staring into his eyes, silently pleading with him, it seemed. For what he wasn’t sure. He finally looked down at his feet and said, “This isn’t something I can just forget, y’know.”
Jared saw just the barest hint of sun emerging from behind the clouds. His tail lashed once before he got it under control. “I know,” he tried to keep his tone even and not get his hopes up. His breathing was leveling again and the tears were almost completely gone.
The fennec looked up, a serious, thoughtful expression on his muzzle. “But maybe we can talk about it.”
Jared’s tail twitched again and this time he let it go, a hesitant smile making an appearance. “I can do that.”
Abdul exhaled longly through his nose and then he wrapped his arms around the cheetah’s waist and began to rub up and down his back. “Good.” They both enjoyed the feeling of the other’s presence for a few moments before the fennec broke the silence again. “I am sorry for what I said during the argument earlier, though, Even with…” he didn’t need to finish; they both knew what he meant.
Jared, finally starting to feel stable once more and relaxing at the continued stroking along his back, bent over slightly to bury his nose between the fox’s large ears. “S’okay,” he mumbled into the fur, taking a deep, relaxing breath of fennec. The argument felt like it was a lifetime ago and their anger felt silly, unfounded. This was the fox he had been dating for over three years that he was talking about. “I know you didn’t mean it. It was dumb...both of us,” he clarified. “I’m sorry, too. Really sorry.” His ears were lowered.
“Mm,” Abdul assented. He turned his head to push his nose to Jared’s neck and began to nuzzle him. The cheetah jumped a little when he felt a light nip. “So, a lemur, huh? Was he good?” His tone was light and playful now. The shift was a bit disorienting for Jared, who hadn’t been ready for it.
“What do you—”
“Was he better than me?” the fennec interrupted
Jared was starting to smell it now: the scent of Abdul’s arousal spreading through the air. It was starting to have an effect on him, but at the same time his mind was trying to work through the sudden change in pace. “Now? Are you sure?” He wasn’t sure what he wanted the fox’s answer to be, but the question at least gave his mind time to catch up. “What happened to not forgetting?”
In response, the fennec moved his paws from the cheetah’s back down to his butt to give it a playful squeeze. “I’m not forgetting,” the smaller fennec husked, “I just think I might need to teach this cheetah who his ass belongs too.”
Jared felt a shiver go down his spine at those words. More often than not, he was on top in bed. It matched up well with their relative sizes and personalities, and Abdul enjoyed bottoming more than the cheetah did. But that didn’t mean that Jared didn’t like to be on the receiving end from time to time, especially when the adorable little fennec started to show his dominant side. And it would do some good to let the fox put him in his place
Parts of his brain were still on the argument and his cheating, but those parts were quickly being overridden as the fox continued kneading his rear and he felt something stiff poke his thigh. Ah, what the hell, he thought. Might as well enjoy it. And so, when the fennec stopped his nuzzling and brought his muzzle to connect with his, he let himself get lost in the kiss.
The fox pushed forward aggressively, sliding his tongue into the cheetah’s muzzle. Jared let the fox lead as he felt the paws leave his butt to grab at the hem of his shirt. They broke apart so he could lift off the shirt and then they were making their way to the bedroom as the fennec shirked his own top.
Jared found himself getting pushed down to lie on the bed with his legs hanging off while the fennec undid his pants. Abdul kept his eyes on the cheetah all the while, eyeing him hungrily. Jared decided to be of use while he was waiting and started undoing his own pants, but only got as far as undoing the button and zipper before he was tackled by a now bottomless fennec.
Lips pressed into his once more as he leaned back and let himself go. He could feel the fox’s erection more clearly now that the vulpine had taken off his pants. It was fully hard and rubbing at his own equally as stiff shaft through his pants. Abdul was moaning into the kiss as he grinded gently into the cheetah beneath him.
Finally, they broke apart when the need to breathe became to great and they started gasping for air. Jared was dimly aware that he was grinning goofily up at the fox, but he hardly cared at this point. Still panting lightly and playing with the opening of the cheetah’s fly, Abdul said, “I want these off in the next minute.” He then got up to go inside the drawer next to their bed and came back out with a bottle of lube in paw. While he opened it up and started to squirt some in one paw, Jared made quick work of his pants so that he was lying on his back with his erect shaft lying on his stomach. “Very nice,” the fennec growled as he approached the supine feline.
He inserted two lubed fingers at first to acclimate the cheetah, who started purring at the pleasurable sensations. Abdul added a third then, which caused Jared to gasp as he rubbed over his prostate.
“I think you’re ready,” the fennec decided, sliding his fingers out. He used the extra lube to slick up his shaft and then he was lining himself up with the cheetah’s entrance. Jared was looking up at him with big, pleading eyes, practically begging for him to start. “Are you good?” Abdul asked. With a nod from the cheetah, the fennec got comfortable and slid himself in to the hilt, stopping with a groan when he was all the way in. “You feel amazing,” he complimented the cheetah huskily.
“Do I ever not?” Jared gasped and started purring, something he knew from experience could be felt through the fox’s shaft. As expected, Abdul moaned cutely and then began to thrust in and out of the cheetah’s rear. He reached for the cheetah’s shaft with his still slick paw and began to pump along in time with his thrusts.
Jared was feeling explosive bursts of pleasure with each timed thrust as he was stimulated from both the inside and the outside. Abdul was lining himself up to hit the cheetah’s prostate with each reentry and he was using his stroking paw to tease the barbs along his shaft with the expertise of three years’ experience under his belt. Jared was soon moaning beneath the fox as the thrusting continued and he could feel the pressure growing in him for the second time that day.
At first the fox was just huffing and panting into his ear, but then he brought his muzzle back around to Jared’s and he was locked in a deep kiss that lasted until he felt like he would pass out and his lungs would explode from lack of oxygen, and then Abdul finally pulled back and returned his muzzle to the space next to his ear.
The fennec’s thrusts began to come more erratically then and Jared knew that the vulpine was nearing the point of no return. He was getting close himself and each new pump of his cock brought him closer to the explosive end. The feeling of the fox inside of him was driving him insane and he needed to finish soon.
Abdul gasped in his ear, “I’m gonna knot you.” His knot had grown during their coupling and it was now noticeable for both parties each time he hilted inside the cheetah.
Jared knew that he was asking him as much as he was telling him, so he just nodded quickly feeling his peak coming on. “Do it,” he moaned loudly.
Adjusting his legs for a second, the fennec then began thrusting with more power, pushing into the cheetah and trying to drive the knot in. After a few thrusts, the feline felt it slip in and then the fennec’s free paw was scrabbling along the bed sheets while his body jerked with each pulse of his shaft. He continued to stroke Jared, even after his climax was over, until the cheetah had joined him in his release. Jared gasped and moaned while the fox kept stroking as he came all over himself.
Afterward, Abdul rolled them onto their sides, facing each other while they waited for his knot to go down. Warm cheetah come stuck to the fur on their chests and stomachs while they lay there, but neither of them minded much, content to just bask in their togetherness.
A few minutes later, while Abdul was idly drawing shapes in the feline’s chest fur, the cheetah became the first to break the silence. “Do you think that there’s anything that we won’t be able to work through?”
The fennec didn’t respond right away and he paused in his shape making momentarily before resuming. “I don’t know,” he answered honestly. “Maybe. But I think that we can work through things if we talk to each other. As long as we both think it’s worth working through, I think it’s possible.”
The cheetah was happy with that answer. Maybe it wasn’t perfect, but he didn’t need perfect. He just needed someone he could love and who loved him, and Abdul was all that and more.
Content, he started purring again. Beside him, Abdul jumped as he felt the vibrations once more, this time through his still-sensitive shaft. “If you don’t cut that out it’s going to be a while before I’m able to get out of you,” the fennec warned.
Jared purred harder.
I hope you enjoyed. I welcome feedback of all kinds, so don’t be shy to comment or drop a PM.
This is a bit of a topical piece considering current climates and it really spoke to me. I know a whole lot of people with different beliefs and even my three closest friends disagree quite a bit about politics and religion among other things.
This piece sort of reflects my feelings on this and politics, especially leading into an election year. It doesn’t matter your political persuasion or your beliefs, everyone makes mistakes and everyone is going to have disagreements with other people. The important thing is that we’re able to talk about our beliefs and issues so that everyone can come out better. Whatever you think love is, and whatever your scary things are, take a page from Jared and Abdul’s book, because love is worth fighting the scary things for. And it’s easier to fight the scary things if we’re fighting them together, not against each other. :)
If anyone would like to talk to me about anything, I’ll try my best to respond.
