Wings Of Fire-Rise Of The Titans CH 4
Friday post! I've stopped production of my wof fire series, but don't worry, I managed to finish book 4. Right now I'm working on some side works, before I start back up. I'm also looking for collabs, so if any of you are interested, dm me!
Sunny watched as the excited students shuffled out of the academy. Michael was sitting with two of the silkwings. Of the five silkwings that were attending the academy, two had wings, and one was currently in a cocoon. Starflight caught up with her and smiled.
“They seem excited.” He told her.
“This is a practice run for the main trip to Pantala.” Sunny replied. “If this runs smoothly, Michael will take us all on a tour.”
Starflight nodded, and Michael started counting everybody.
“I bet Tsunami’s excited.” Starflight replied.
“Yeah, Coral and Auklet will be there.”
After Michael finished counting. The group to flight, and started their journey to the sea kingdom. The seawings were flying ahead, excited to be traveling home. Sunny and Starflight were flying close to Michael, the two silkwings were huddled on his back. After a few hours, the group landed on the beach, not far from where the dragonets of destiny originally stayed when they reached the kingdom of the sea. The seawing students had dove into the water, and were long gone. Tsunami and Riptide had followed them, and they likely were already at the Summer Palace. The rainwing students, didn’t look to happy, their colors showed discomfort and fear. Sunny looked up and noticed that the sun was already setting.
“It took so long for us to get everyone ready; we didn’t leave till noon.” Starflight chuckled.
Sunny nodded, and found a nice place to settle for the night. She looked over and noticed Bloodshed and Mindreader curled up together.
“Wait, when were they a couple?”
“I helped them, remember?”
“Oh, right. They look so cute together.” Sunny smiled
Starflight smiled back, and curled around Sunny. They turned and watched the rest of the group settle. Kinkajou looked around, disappointed, before Turtle leapt out of the water, and smiled at her. They laid down, chatting idly. Tamarin was curled up in a pile with the other three rainwings. Moon and Qibli settled next to them, and quickly fell asleep. Sunny looked over, and noticed that Starflight was already out, and she laid her head down to follow him.
Sunny opened her eyes and looked around; Starflight was talking with Michael nearby. She got up and shook the sand off of her scales. Then she walked into the woods to find some water. After a few minutes she walked back out and got ready to fly the rest of the way to the palace. Starflight made his way back to Sunny, and smiled.
“Morning sweetie.” He spoke.
“Hi, is everybody ready?”
“Michael did a roll call, and everybody’s here.” Starflight replied.
“Except for the seawings.” Sunny replied.
“Yeah, Tamarin looks mad.”
“Turtle stayed, but Anemone was ordered to immediately go to the Summer Palace.”
“I heard; Queen Coral wanted all three of her daughters in one place.” Starflight lowered his head and whispered. “I also heard that she made a harness for the three of them.”
Sunny laughed. “I want to see that.”
You really do, it’s hilarious.
They looked over at Michael, who took off. The rest of the group followed and they made their way to an island on the horizon. It only took them a few hours, but they eventually made their way to the island that had the underwater entrance. Most of the dragonets didn’t like water, and did not want to swim, but they decided to follow him. The palace looked pretty much the same as when Starflight was last inside of it. He looked over and noticed a greeting party had formed in its center. Starflight nearly fell over laughing when he noticed that Queen Coral had in fact made harnesses for all three of her daughters, and they each were attached to her. Tsunami looked downright furious, and Anemone looked extremely annoyed. Turtle walked up to his sisters, and said something to Anemone. Her eyes flashed over to Tamarin, who no longer looked annoyed, but sympathetic instead. Sunny chuckled next to him and shook her head.
“I can’t believe she actually did it.”
“Yeah.” Starflight replied. “She looks so mad.”
“Look at Riptide!” Sunny pointed.
Riptide was trying to keep a straight face as he was standing next to a couple of Tsunami’s brothers. He was failing, and they could all see him smile slightly as he looked at Tsunami. The rest of the students were amazed at the designs of the palace, and were greeted by a few excited looking seawings.
“How about we start with a tour.” One of them spoke.
The dragonets nodded and followed the seawing teachers led them away from the entrance. Sunny and Starflight approached the queen of the seawings and bowed respectfully.
“Hello Sunny, Starflight. I heard about your wedding, and wanted to congratulate you, I’m sorry but I won’t be able to attend, there are some important things I need to do that week.” Coral told them.
Sunny nodded. “It’s okay, were having a small wedding anyway.”
Coral looked surprised. “Your mother was okay with that?”
“It was our choice.” Sunny replied.
Coral chuckled. “They’re getting a traditional, very fancy wedding.” She motioned to her daughters.
Starflight looked over at Tsunami, and smiled brightly at her.
“I can’t do an underwater wedding mom.” Anemone replied
Coral turned to her. “Oh, right.” She waved her claws. “We’ll just do it here.”
Tsunami tugged on her harness. “Why are we wearing these again, I have dragonets to watch over.”
“They are cared for by our best teachers.” Coral replied.
“Whirlpool was one of your best teachers, and he tried to kill me.” Tsunami replied.
“We’re wearing these so I can get some family time with all three of you. Tsunami, stop trying to break it, it’s too strong to be cut.” Coral told her.
Tsunami looked up at her mother deviously, then there was a flash and a strange dagger was in her claws.
“Are you sure? This can cut anything.”
“Where did you get that?”
“Michael gave it to me, to help me cut some stalactites and prevent any accidents. It cuts through solid rock better than talons through meat.”
Coral shot a look at Michael, who shot one back. “I’m guessing he had other reasons.”
Auklet sat next to Tsunami. “I like it, I miss you two while you’re at the school.”
“We’ll your almost old enough to come and learn there; only a handful of months.” Tsunami replied.
“No, no way am I going to let all three of my daughters leave the kingdom and attend that school.” Coral replied.
“I’ll be back in just under two years, remember?” Tsunami shot back.
“Still, not going to happen.”
Auklet looked sad.
“Cheer up; when I become queen, I’ll let you go.” Tsunami told her.
Coral shot her a look, then sighed. “Alright, let’s go back to the deep palace.”
“Wait.” Anemone shot up. “Let me talk to Tamarin for a moment.”
Coral sighed and freed Anemone, who rushed to find the rainwing.
“Be back in an hour!” Coral called.
Michael chose this moment to walk up to them, and greeted the queen.
“I take it you don’t like Tsunami’s gift?” He smirked.
“Why did you really give it to her?” Coral squinted.
“Because she wanted it, why else?”
“Is it cursed?”
“There is no magic on the blade, it is made of the same metal as my blades.” He flicked his tail, bringing the blade back and forth in a dangerous arc.
Coral looked at him with skepticism, but changed the topic. “What is this I hear of a trip to Pantala?”
“It’s not for a few months, but it will be happening if this trip is a success.” Michael replied.
Coral looked over in the direction Anemone went. “What is with her and that rainwing?”
“She fell in love?” Michael replied, and laughed. “What did you think?”
“That wasn’t what I was expecting.” Coral frowned slightly. “I wanted her to marry a seawing, and I was going to let her choose.”
“That whole situation with Whirlpool says different.”
“Well, I would have respected it if she said no, but I just wished she would have chosen a seawing, or at least a male.”
“Life goes in unexpected ways.”
“Do you have children?”
“Four by blood, billions by adoption.”
“Are any of your blood ones… Like that?”
“Nope, and one of them is right behind you.”
Coral didn’t even flinch. “So, you really wouldn’t understand it then.”
“I would, and I do. You want heirs from all your daughters, but not your sons, which you have over thirty of. One is even an animus.”
“Like that does anything now.”
“I might change that, at some point.”
Coral looked over at Turtle, who was giving a private tour of the palace to Kinkajou.
“Two of my children fell in love with rainwings.”
“They’re pretty lovable.” Michael replied. “But your eldest living daughter is set to be married to a male seawing, so stop fussing over it.”
Riptide blushed, and avoided eye contact. Sunny smirked at him, then over at Starflight.
“But what if my grandchildren can’t breathe underwater?” Coral asked
“They should, being either rainwing or seawing dominant. Hybrids usually get both, even when they are dominant on one side.”
“Also, you have this neat place, that happens to be above ground. They’re not likely to be living underwater anyway.”
Coral frowned. “Right.”
Sunny cleared her throat, no doubt also feeling out of place in this conversation. “Any new scrolls.”
“Right.” Starflight cut in. “I just got caught up, I loved your one about the nightwing seawing romance.”
Tsunami blushed faintly.
“And the one about the skywing and icewing.” Sunny added.
Coral smiled. “Oh yes, since I last sent you guys a collection, I wrote six new stories.”
Michael rolled his eyes.
“What!” Coral turned to him. “You got anything better?”
Michael laughed. “I’ve been alive a very long time, and written trillions upon trillions of books. Some of them real, some fiction, some fantasy, some romantic. I have a massive library filled with just my books, and another one filled with every book ever written.”
“Are mine in there?” Coral replied.
“In fact, they are, but were getting off track.”
Coral smiled to herself, then turned to a bag of scrolls nearby. She plucked out six scrolls and handed them to Sunny, who smiled and accepted. Michael flicked his claws, and a book appeared in them.
“Take this too.” He handed it to Starflight. “It’s about a real event that happened a long time ago, but it’s about the first ever sandwing nightwing romance. It’s very good.”
Starflight looked at the book in surprise, and put it in his satchel.
“Maybe I should write about one of those next.” Coral replied. “I’d have to ask you a lot of… Personal questions.”
Michael summoned another book, and smacked it into her claws. “There.”
She looked at the book. “Draconia Eludia Romance and Mating Habits?”
“It’s about all the types and their love lives, excluding the four other types I’ll tell you about some other time.”
“Draconia Eludia?”
“It’s the name of your species.” Michael replied.
“And yours is…”
“Dracios Ultima, a subspecies of Dracios Elementia. Similar to Dracios Cantidos, but we won’t go that far into it.”
Coral shook her head. “How many dragon species are there?”
“Billions, it’s literally the INFINITE multiverse.” Michael replied. “Infinite is the keyword there.”
Anemone returned, and slowly made her way back to her mother, who clipped the harness back on.
“You want a dagger too?” Michael asked.
“Yes.” Anemone said as her mother said. “No!”
Turtle laughed as he returned with Kinkajou. “Seems like I didn’t miss a thing.”
“C’mon, were heading to the Deep Palace.” Coral told him, then turned and dragged her daughters down to the entrance tunnel.
Turtle turned to Kinkajou, who nodded and kissed him on the cheek. “See you in a few days.”
He blushed and nodded, then followed his mother and sisters. Michael flicked his claws and Coral tripped ungracefully over one of the harness cords. Sunny gaped at him as Starflight burst out laughing.
“I can laugh right.” He said after a moment. “I’m a prince, that means I can laugh at that stuff.”
“That you can.” Michael replied, smirking.
“You did that?” Sunny spoke.
“Yep, it’s fun to mess with stuck up people sometimes.”
He turned and walked into one of the buildings, his tail glinting slightly as it vanished. Sunny turned and noticed Willow and Sundew were watching Bumblebee play with a few young seawing dragonets in the water. She walked up and smiled at the cute seen.
“This is so adorable; I think I might pass out.” Sunny spoke
Willow nodded. “I’m surprised that she likes to swim, Cricket hates it.”
Bumblebee giggled and dove around in the water, chasing the seawings, and letting them chase her.
“Where is Cricket? Wasn’t she excited to learn about the seawings?” Sunny asked.
“She’s drying off with Blue, he’s probably using his flamesilk.” Sundew told her.
Sunny chuckled. “Wonder what hivewing and silkwing weddings look like.”
“They don’t have them; their partners are chosen for them when they get their wings. Blue and Luna have two moms, and share a flamsilk father.” Sundew told her.
Sunny raised her eyebrows. “What about leafwings?”
Sundew blushed and turned to Willow. “Uhm, it’s a small thing, usually quick and to the point.”
Sunny nodded. “Is that what you two want?”
They both blushed deeply, Sundew coughed and Willow nodded. “Kind of similar to yours.”
“Wait, are you two engaged?” Starflight asked.
They froze, and the nightwing got his answer. “Congrats.”
“Our wedding won’t be for a while.” Sundew whispered. “Don’t tell anyone.”
Sunny nodded. “We won’t.”
Starflight yawned, and they walked off to find their room. They eventually found it in the back of a hall, it had their names on it, and Sunny was glad that they were placed in the same room this time. They settled into their guest bed, and quickly fell asleep.
