Wings Of Fire-Fighting Conquest CH 5
Hi! Back again posting regularly, leave a comment if you like!
Before Sunny could react, she felt something slam into her. There was a massive explosion, which deafened Sunny and sent her flying. She slammed into a wall behind her, and just as she lost consciousness, she saw Starflight hit the ground next to her.
Starflight! Her eyes flew open, and she groaned as she felt a wave of pain wash over her. She looked around, and saw many faces, most were screaming and yelling, but Sunny realized with a start that she couldn’t hear them. She shook her head, and slowly started to hear again. She looked around, and saw Starflight laying on the ground. She rushed over to him and shook him.
“Starflight! Wake up!” She told him.
She put her head to his chest, but couldn’t feel anything.
“Starflight?” Tears started to roll down her face.
A few of Michael’s soldiers rushed up to them. One of them put a paw on Starflight’s neck, and called out to somewhere. A medic dived towards them and pulled out a yellow crystal, and jammed it into Starflight’s neck. His body jumped and convulsed, but the medic frowned and tried again.
Michael! Sunny called out with her thoughts.
I know, I can’t come right now, there is a titan on a rampage in your direction. Misty figured out how to boost it, and it’s taking a lot to hold it back.
Hurry! Sunny replied.
“We need to medivac.” The medic said.
“Calling it now.” Another medic replied, he pulled out a strange box and spoke into it. “Medic unit d-12638 calling for an emergency medivac at my location. Full draconic medical load is needed, and bring a fortress for the others.”
“Copy that.” The box spoke back.
“Is he going to be okay?” Sunny asked.
“We don’t know.” The medic replied.
Sunny turned to Starflight. “Oh, please be okay, I don’t know what I would do without you.”
A loud humming sound made Sunny look up, and she gasped as a strange structure fell through the trees and hovered towards them. It landed nearby and a group of dragons rushed out of it. A few looked like healers, and there were even a few humans with them. The healers ran up to them, and started attaching things to Starflight.
“Pulse?”
“Weak, but we managed to get his heart started again.” A medic replied.
“Get a stretcher!” The healer called.
“Sunny?” Starflight groaned.
“I’m here, you’re going to be okay.” Sunny cried.
“Cold.” Starflight shivered. “So cold.”
“Stay with me, I need you to stay with me.” Sunny replied.
“We have high burns across seventy percent of his body, several broken bones, and internal bleeding.” A healer spoke. “We need magical regeneration.”
“Where is Andy?” Another medic replied.
“On the ISS, we need to get him there, stat.”
“Do we have any other wounded?”
“No, only these two, who found the bomb and warned everybody.”
“Some minor burns, and shrapnel, a fortress is in route to support.”
A flat panel was placed on the ground beside Starflight, and Sunny watched as the healers carefully transferred Starflight onto the panel.
“Where are you taking him?” She asked
“Were bringing him to someone that can heal him.” A healer replied.
“I’m going with you.” Sunny told them.
One of the humans shook her head. “You should stay here.”
“I’m going with him.” Sunny growled.
“You should know better.” A medic admonished the human, who looked surprised.
“Were not supposed to be taking them.” She replied.
“Just let her.” The healer replied. “She needs help too.”
Four dragons helped lift Starflight off the ground, and carried him over to the strange flying machine. They got into it, and set Starflight on a special table. The door closed behind them, and Sunny could feel the machine moving again.
“Let me check on you.” One of the healers turned to Sunny.
“No, you should focus on him.” Sunny replied.
“They’re doing all they can, now let me check on you.” The healer insisted.
“Fine.” Sunny relented.
The healer looked her over, and applied a few bandages to her cuts.
“You have a minor concussion, and a few large bruises, it looks like your friend there took all the force of the explosion for you.”
“He’s my husband.” Sunny replied.
“Of course.” The healer smiled lightly. “He saved your life, there is no way you could have taken that hit.”
Sunny looked over at Starflight. “I need him to be okay.”
“He will be.” The healer replied. “We’ve got him stable, and he will be brought to our immortal to be healed.”
“Michael was supposed to do it.” Sunny replied.
“He’s busy, and when he’s done with the titan, he will be drained.” The healer explained.
Starflight started to shake, and his tail whipped back and forth violently.
“He’s seizing!” A healer shouted, and everybody rushed around him.
“Hold him down.” Another ordered.
Sunny looked Starflight over, she saw his face, and felt tears start to form.
“Sunny.” He groaned.
“She’s here, she’s still with you.” A medic told him.
“I…” He groaned. “Love.”
He collapsed, and the medics sighed with relief.
“Is he stable?”
“Yes, for now.”
The machine shook suddenly, and a loud bang sounded.
“Were docked.” A voice called from the front.
“Let’s get him to the hospital.” The medic shouted.
They lifted him back up, and carried him out of the machine. Sunny looked around and realized that they were in a city. There was no sky, so she assumed they were underground. The walls and floor were made of metal, but Sunny was more focused on following the medics. They walked through a few sets of doors, and down a few hallways before he was brought into the room.
“Get Andy, tell him it’s important.” The medic told a human, who nodded and rushed away.
“Where are we?” Sunny asked.
“Were in space, high above the planet you live on.” Someone told her.
“What?”
“Don’t worry about it, were safe here.”
Sunny looked around the room, and decided to trust them. She looked over at Starflight, his breathing was labored, and she could barely recognize him under all the burns on his body. A strange dragon walked into the room and immediately walked up to Starflight. He placed his forepaws on him, and focused. After a few hours, Starflight’s breathing became stronger, and steadier. Then the burns started to fade and his normal scales returned. The strange dragon, Sunny assumed it was Andy, sighed and fell back.
“The outer parts are the easiest to heal, but his internal injuries are still critical. He will be out for a while, were not out of the woods yet, but I’m more confident now.”
Sunny nodded.
“He might stop breathing, and if he does, push repeatedly on his chest to push air in and out of his lungs.” Andy added.
Sunny looked over to Starflight.
“You on the other hand, maybe I should get a watcher here, you look bad.”
He reached over and placed a paw on Sunny’s shoulder. She immediately felt better, and felt the light burns on her face vanish.
“You need rest.” He told her. “I can get you a room…”
“No, I’m staying right here.” Sunny told him.
“Alright, don’t be too rough if you lay next to him.” Andy nodded, and walked out of the room.
A few minutes later, a white dragon walked into the room and sat down on a chair.
“Feel free to fall asleep, I’ll keep watch.” She told Sunny.
Sunny curled up next to Starflight and nodded, her mind felt like she would never sleep, but her body soon forced her into unconsciousness.
“Are they okay? Where are they?” Tsunami shouted at a random soldier.
“Medivac to the ISS, they are safe.” Was all the soldier said.
“What does that mean?” Tsunami screamed.
“What happened?” Moon asked, landing with Qibli in the square.
“Another attack, Starflight and Sunny were injured.” Riptide told them. “Right as we arrived we heard the explosion.”
Clay bounded up to them. “A healer told me that Starflight was in critical condition, he could be dead.”
Everybody gasped, Peril ran up behind Clay, panting.
“When I find out whoever did this, I’m going to fry them.” She gasped.
“Where is Michael?”
A little busy at the moment, stopping a titan from turning your peninsula into a trench.
There was a loud bang to signify a fight in the distance. Turtle and Lynx joined them, and turned to Tsunami.
“The dragonets are getting worried, they cleared their rooms of explosives, but maybe we should cut this trip short.” Turtle spoke.
“This was the most educational stop.” Tsunami replied. “But your right.”
“Most of them would likely complain about it, but the danger is here.” Lynx told them.
“Yeah, considering that there is a superpowered dragon that wants to flatten the place and get rid of all the leafwings.” Riptide added.
“We need to offer a chance to leave. Coltan probably wants to get back to his wife, and get away from the danger. We can have him and anybody else lead the dragonets home.” Moon offered.
“Yeah, let’s do that.” Tsunami nodded.
They made their way to the platform the students were staying on, and Tsunami called them all together.
“Hello, we have confirmed that this attack was the same as the one on the seawing village. There have been a few wounded, and possibly one dead.” Tsunami choked on the last part. “We have decided that this place is too dangerous, but we know that some of you would like to stay, so we are offering an option to leave. Coltan will be leading a group that will leave first thing tomorrow. If you’re leaving, let me know now and don’t unpack your things.”
There was a bunch of chatter, and about half of the students waved their paws in the air to signify that they wish to leave. Tsunami nodded at each one of them, and soon the crowd dispersed. Tsunami stumbled a bit, and Riptide caught her, she leaned against him and sighed.
“I don’t know if he’s okay, I don’t know what I would do if he…” She trailed off.
Clay walked up and nudged her with his wing for support. “We need to contact Glory, make sure she has the right information.”
“Here” she passed him the dreamvisitor, knowing she won’t be getting any sleep for a while.
Clay nodded, and walked off. He walked into the room he was going to stay in. Peril followed him, and they both climbed into bed.
“Almost time for her suntime?” Peril asked.
“Should be.” He told her.
They both curled up into the bed, and Clay quickly fell asleep.
Glory?
Clay looked around, and he noticed Glory talking with Deathbringer. Clay noticed with a start that Glory was curled around a clutch of eggs, and called out to her again. Glory’s head snapped over to him, and she blushed heavily.
“I… uh.” She stuttered. “Let’s keep this between us.”
Clay nodded. “Glory, there’s been an attack.”
Glory perked up. “What?”
“Sunny and Starflight got hurt. They took them away and we haven’t heard anything. Starflight might not have made it.”
Glory slowly started to turn blue. “Starflight?”
“We don’t know if he’s dead, but he wasn’t in good condition when they took him away.”
Glory looked down, tears starting to form. “Who was it?”
“The same as the seawing village.” Clay told her.
Glory punched the floor. “Those…”
“Glory, were sending some of the dragonets back, and we’ll send as much information as we can, but were telling you the important stuff now. Were dealing with two problems, and we need you to make sure the academy is secured.”
Glory nodded. “I’ll send Deathbringer to…”
“No, you obviously need him for… other reasons. Send Grandeur.” Clay replied.
Glory blushed again. “I, uhm.”
“Don’t deny it, I can’t wait to be an uncle.”
“We should be getting married first.”
“Then hurry up about it.” Clay smirked. “I should go, I’ll send word when I hear about Starflight.”
Glory nodded, and Clay woke up with a gasp. The sun had set, and Peril was still wrapped around him. He looked out the window, and noticed that many dragons were still flying around. He got up, slowly sliding out of the bed, keeping care as to not wake Peril up. He walked out of the room and over to the attack site. The bomb had damaged the tree it was set next to, but Sundew had healed it. Workers were hurrying to fix the structural damage before the platform collapsed. He looked over at the pile of blood and black scales, and investigated it. Most of the scales had been melted off, and the blood had soaked heavily into the floor. He frowned, and noticed the scattering of yellow scales.
This is where they were. He thought. I hope they’re okay.
There was a thump, and Clay turned to see Trice behind him, she looked beat and bruised, as well as drained.
“Hey.” Clay greeted her.
Trice just nodded, and looked over at the situation around her.
“We could only stop so many.” She practically whispered.
“Do you know who did this?”
“A tribe from a different continent.” Trice replied.
“What?”
“There are three other continents on this planet, and they are right next to each other. There are two massive tribes, and they have been fighting each other for dominance ever since they defeated the nightwings. One side, not sure which, is sending seawings here to try to start another war.”
“Why would they do that?”
“They want you to be fighting, so that when they decide to invade, you will be too weak to stop them, and so you won’t team up.” Trice explained.
“Why would they invade?”
“Because they are power hungry, but they will be very surprised when they find out about the nightwings that are still here.”
Clay looked over at the bloodstain. “Are they okay?”
“Sunny’s fine, Starflight jumped in front of the blast for her. He isn’t doing so good, and neither my dad nor I have enough power to do anything that hasn’t already been done.”
“Will he make it?”
“Most likely, but it will be touch and go for a bit.” Trice replied.
Clay nodded, head lowered, and looked over at the center of the explosion.
“I want you to take me to the ones who did this.”
Trice laughed. “You’ll die in seconds.”
“Are there mudwings there?”
“Yeah.”
“Then I can hide with them for a bit.”
“It ain’t happening Clay.”
Clay sighed. “What about me and Peril?”
“You’d need a whole nightwing army to do anything there. It’s one of the queens who’s causing this. We think it’s the sunwings.” Trice replied.
“Then take me to their stronghold, and let me blow it up.” Clay roared.
“It won’t work, we already have spies, all we need to do is confirm and we will destroy them.” Trice replied.
“I can’t do nothing.” Clay replied.
“Take Peril and go to the sky kingdom, search for the air staff, we will defeat the Titan Goddess first, then we will deal with the others.”
Clay nodded, and walked back to the room.
