#2 of Cyn

Okay, before I can begin, I just figured I'd say that the reason I don't have a proof reader is because I basically don't share my stuff outside the internet, do to the fact that, last time I did, it was in highschool, and my teacher called me a freak. How was I supposed to know that a story about a boy turning into a dragon and falling in love with his human sister would be weird? Anyways, if there is any major mistakes, (Like when I changed Cinderella to Cynder on accident during a school project) then feel free to mention that. Otherwise, don't worry, I'll eventually catch it. Anyways, enjoy!

Bandits had attacked him, and took everything. All they left him with was a broken wagon, a large pot, a soup ladle, and the cloths on his back. Luckily, this wasn't the first time Will had been out on his own. Well, he wasn't technically alone. Somebody, though he didn't know who, had been watching over him. He felt a gentle presence around him, but his only hint as to who it was was the letters C-Y-N carved into the dirt next to him. Was that a name? It wasn't exactly a name he heard on a regular basis. He simply just lied there, using the cover of his ruined wagon as cover as the morning air chilled his face. He just looked at the name carved into the dirt, and muttered, "Cyn... who are you?"

"Do my eyes deceive me? It seems that bandits must have attacked somebody. It looks like this wagon is in pieces." A distant male voice said, causing Will to sit up. Running to the voice, he saw a group of men clad in heavy armor. One of them glanced up at him, and said, "Did bandits attack you?"

"Y-yeah. Are you a rescue party?" Will asked, looking over them. There were six men total, and, by the looks of it, they seemed like they were heading into battle.

"No, but you're welcome to travel with us, as long as you don't mind a slight detour!" one of the men said happily. "My name is Regin."

"The name's Will. So... where are you going?" Will asked, looking around. "I don't think there is anything out this way."

"Oh, but there is. A strange beast was sighted a while back, and the king has been sending men out to find it. We believe it should be in this area." Regin said, looking back at his small group. "These men are under my command. We are going to slay the beast, and bring it back to the king."

"Alright, I suppose I can tag along." Will said, smiling. "So, do you have any extra clothes? Mine sorta got shredded." Will said, looking at his tattered garbs.

"Sure thing. John, can you grab this man some clean clothes?" Regin said, looking back at the men.

"Yes sir!" one of the men said, running over to their wagon, and fetching some clothes.

"I wonder how Will is doing." Cyn asked herself, crawling out of a small hole in the ground. Walking over to where he was sleeping, she saw him tightening the belt on a clean blue tunic. "Where did he get that?" Cyn asked herself, as she examined him a little closer. She could smell other scents, as well. Human scents.

"I wonder how long they'll be? I'm sure that that many guys will find that beast in no time." Will said to himself. Hearing this, Cyn felt her heart sink. She had actually wanted to see him, but, after hearing him talk about them killing her, she lost all respect.

"There it is!" A voice called, causing her to hastily turn around. Right behind her was two men, swords drawn. One swung at her, forcing her to jump back, landing in the clearing where Will was.

Will, seeing them attacking her, said "This is the beast you came after?"

"Aye. Stand back." One of the men said, as Regin stepped closer to her, sword drawn.

"We finally have it cornered." Regin said, raising his sword.

"C-Cyn?" Will stuttered, causing Cyn to turn and look at him. He knew it. She had to be the one who helped him. Even though she hadn't spoken, he could tell that she had intelligence just by seeing her fear-stricken eyes.

"Die, lizard!" Regin cried, swinging his sword. Shock ran through him when suddenly, Will leapt at him, and took the hit. Falling to the ground, he had a large cut in his side.

"Will!" Cyn cried, leaning over him.

"You mean you can talk?" Regin asked, stunned. "Wait, so that boy was allied with you?"

"No! You got it all wrong! Will is just some traveler. We never actually have talked face to face." Cyn cried, standing over him. "Please, treat his wounds!"

"We aren't falling for your stupid decoy, beast!" Regin growled, readying his swing.

"Not so fast!" Will gasped, grabbing Regin's foot, and pulling on it. He was weak from blood loss, but he couldn't just let them hack her up. She helped him. There was no way she deserved to die.

"What are you doing? I should just kill you here! After all, what the king doesn't know won't hurt him!" Regin laughed, forcing his sword against Will's throat. Seeing Will wounded, and still trying to save her sparked something. She knew she had to do something. He was the first human to show her any kind of kindness. The first intelligent being to show her compassion. She had learned to speak human language from all of the humans that had tried to kill her over the years. Hundreds of thousands tried, just because they didn't know what she was. Will didn't care what she was, though. His only worry was that she was okay... and Regin wanted to take that from her.

"What the hell?!?" Regin screamed as Cyn buried her talons onto his face with a leaping pounce. As Regin fell to the ground, Cyn stepped back in disbelief. Never had she hurt someone before. Looking down, she saw the blood on her claws. Before she could react, one of the men swung at her. In one swift move, she lashed the man's sword from his hand with her tail, and put her paw to Regin's throat, which was cringing in pain, holding his face.

"Alright, humans. Let's bargain. You guys leave, and I won't slit his throat!" Cyn cried, tears forming in her eyes. She was becoming more and more devious. She had always been so innocent, but now, her only worry was saving Will.

"Fine! We'll leave!" One of the men cried, stepping back. After letting Regin up, Cyn ran over to Will, who was weakly trying to sit up.

"Will, don't move! You're hurt!" Cyn cried, looking over his wounds.

"I'm fine... thanks to you." Will said with a gentle smile, trying to hide his pain. Meanwhile, Regin slowly walked away, looking back at the two. In a fit of rage, he drew his sword and charged straight at Cyn.

"DIE, BEAST!!!" Regin screamed, thrusting his sword. Will, without thought, reached to the ground, picking up a fairly large rock, and threw it at Regin, nailing him in the forehead. Blood splattered at Regin's head split open, and he fell dead on the ground, landing next to them.

"I... I just killed him..." Will stuttered.

"Boss!" one of the men cried, running over to Regin's body. "You'll pay for this! You and that beast will die! The king is sure to send more men!" he cried, as him and another man lifted Regin's body. As Will watched them walk away, he looked at Cyn, whose head was lowered.

"Cyn... it will be alright." Will said, comfortingly putting his hand on her shoulder.

"First I got you hurt, and now you're a wanted man. Maybe I shouldn't make friends..." She muttered, her fin-like ears drooping.

"I'm fine... I just need a little rest..." Will said, weak from blood-loss.

"Well, it looks like they'll be after us both..." Cyn sighed, looking at the human.

"I better brush up on my swordplay if I want to protect you." Will said, smiling.

"Protect me?" Cyn asked.

"Well, I can't just weigh you down." He muttered with a slight smile. "We'll find a safe place. Trust me."
