So You Want to be a Superhero? A My Life is Super Fanfic

So, this is a story based on a few lines in Nex Canis' 'My Life is Super' series where he describes how supers and outsiders (those with powers but are regular people) are treated in Australia. He mentions how a building up for demolition will be set as the fighting arena for the superpowered to duke it out and that this superhero fantasy fulfilment was a large part of the 31st century Australia's GDP. Since I was craving more 'My Life is Super' and reread issues 1-5 over the course of two weeks, I decided to follow his advice to write my own story about it. I have tried to keep within the themes and tones of the series while adding my own spin while expanding on those few lines.

So what follows is a game show made with pieces of game shows I've seen and/or liked set in the 'My Life is Super' universe. The only character that I did not make was Feral Steel, who naturally belongs solely to Nex Canis, and I hope I have written at least mostly in line with how his character is described in the series.

A figure cackled madly as he flew through the air, flicking out his black paws and causing a chain of small explosions across the top of a building that blew rubble and dust at least 10 meters into the air. His goat horns curled around his ears and then out in sharp points. He wore no mask but had on a skin-tight suit that was black with red flames coming from each of his limbs and showed off his muscle builder sized body.

"No one can stop Demon-litionist!" The goat said in a loud, clear, and very deep voice. "I will bring this building to ruins along with everyone in it! Beware citizens of Sydney, your time is nigh!"

"Not so fast Demon-litionist!" A new figure appeared from a building that the goat wasn't looking at and landed on the building. As he stood tall his green and silver cape that reached down to his elbows billowed in the wind, his own muscled form striking a pose that made his arms bulge and his chest push forward. He wore a mask over his eyes that kept them from being seen, but the rest of his body was clearly canine. His large pointed light grey ears poked above his mint green hair that was long and pulled back into a ponytail, his light grey tail was as long as his arm and wagged behind him, and his silver coloured claws were on display as he spread his fingers like he was going to scratch. His suit was a silvery grey with green bars angling down his chest, arms, and legs with a green question mark on his chest. His suit almost looked too tight as it hugged his body, bulging with every muscle and displaying that he was going commando underneath.

"Heh, and who are you supposed to be, kid?" Demon-litionist said with his arms crossed.

"I am Whowolf!" He said, smiling wide and poking his chest with his thumb. There was silence for a good 15 seconds, making the wolf's smile wilt.

"Judges! Let's hear what you think of his entrance!" The goat turned and pointed to a floating table where three people sat with tablets in front of them. The flying drone cameras turned and circled them as large holographic text displayed the title of the show 'So You Want to be a Superhero?' The sound of the audience clapping could be heard almost above the goat's words.

"On the left, returning from last season, it's Mathew Kelvin, star of Fast and Furious 3050!" The goat said. A bald human waved to the camera, his body like a Greek sculpture of Adonis, the audience cheering.

"Next is the beautiful singer Carmen Wang, the outsider with the voice of an angel!" The goat pointed to the middle judge. The tigress flashed a brilliant smile and waved, her red sequin dress sparkling in the sunlight as at least one person in the audience screamed for her to marry him.

"Last but not least, all the way from the country of the red white and blue, a super you've all heard of before, Feral Steel!" The goat gestured to the large wolf in a simple grey mask and slate grey and white uniform with metal bracers on his forearms. Feral Steel smiled and waved at the cameras as cheering erupted from somewhere off screen that was louder than the music playing.

"Judges, welcome to season 8 of 'So You want to be a Superhero?' Let's start off with an appraisal of Whowolf's introduction! Mathew, if you'd like to start us off." Demon-litionist said.

"I'd be happy to," The human sat up and adjusted the mic on his shirt. "I'll start off with what I like; your colour scheme is good, the green and silver works with your hair and fur colour. And the cape, man I thought I'd never like capes but a short one like that is a great compromise between safety and fashion. You've also got an air of mystery going for you. You're superhero name? I don't get it, honestly."

"It's a werewolf pun, instead of a where-wolf I'm a who-wolf." The canine explained.

"Ah, that's okay but still could use some work shopping. Your appearance was rather lacking, no quippy remark or threat. It almost sounded like you forgot to practice your lines for a play." Mathew shrugged and leaned back in his seat.

"I disagree," Carmen said, her soft voice carrying weight while sounding as smooth as her fur looked. "It adds to the air of mystery you were talking about, you don't often get the opportunity to give a speech just before a super battle and it sounded like he was building up to let his actions speak more than his words. Let me just say I am very interested to see what you can do, dear Whowolf."

"First, let me just say it's an honour to be up on stage with you two," Feral Steel said and nodded to his fellow judges. "Carmen, as enchanting as your songs are to hear they pale in comparison to hearing you live." The tigress nodded back with a wide smile. "And Mathew Kelvin, I love your filmography, but I can't say why without dropping hints about my secret identity." Mathew chuckled on the other end of the table. "Now on to our contestant, I'm sorry but Whowolf is a bit difficult to say so I agree that it could use some work shopping. Your entrance was fine as I assume you can't fly, so it's really your opening lines that need some polishing, the first impression is the most important. I'm really excited to see your powers, son."

"Wise words from our judges!" Demon-litionist said, clapping with the audience. "Now Whowolf, here's the rules of the game, you'll get three lifelines: phone a friend, ask the audience, and a boon! Just yell out pause and we'll stop the clock, letting you use a lifeline. Everything will stop while you're using the lifeline, however, should you start moving the clock will start up again. There are three dummies inside the building that you must save to win our prize of a brand-new car, but you can also stop me from destroying the building to win a plot of land to build a headquarters on! We'll put thirty minutes on the clock for you to get all of this accomplished!"

"Bring it on, I'm ready!"

"Hold on there champ, before we get to that it's time to display your powers for the audience! Show us what you've got!" The goat motioned at the wolf.

"Alright," He turned to the nearest flying camera. "I'm calling myself Whowolf because I've got four people inside me that I can become. This is my Wolf's Sight form, this form has the best sense of hearing, sight, and smell; letting me track from long distances and is the form I use the most. I was hoping to show off my other forms during the fight if you don't mind, but knowing your powers, I'd like to start off with a different form." Whowolf pointed to Demon-litionist before taking a deep breath.

His form thinned as his body got leaner, both his fur and costume changing colours. His hair went from mint green and being pulled back in a ponytail to dark brown and thick, spreading all over his head, neck, and then down his suit. His fur brightened and shortened, going from a light grey to a sunny yellow. His claws on his hands and feet darkened to black before they sunk into his paws that grew at least three sizes larger and even thicker fur than his body. His tail looked like his fur flattened as it changed colour, making it look longer before you realize it is longer, and ended with a tuft of dark brown fur. His ears changed from pointed and grey to round and yellow with a cream interior. His costume altered as well, the silver base shifting to gold as the green stripes deepened to a royal purple. His mask was the last to change to gold as his eyes opened. He now looked like a professional acrobat with his slender form.

"And this is my Lion's Delight form," The now lion said with a smile of bright, sharp teeth, his voice now smoother and higher pitched. "In this form my speed is greatly enhanced and is the smallest and most dexterous of my forms. Shall we dance now?"

"Alright! Ladies and gentlemen and everyone in between, let's give him those thirty minutes!" The goat raised a paw to the sky as he landed and large holographic numbers appeared displaying 30:00. "And... begin!"

Whowolf became a blur and he ran forward and punched Demon-litionist in the jaw. The lion gave a fluttering laugh as he hit, then blurred away to the goat's back to throw fast jabs at his spine. The goat jumped and set off an explosion underneath his feet, gliding to one side of the roof. In his feline form, he dodged the explosion with ease by flipping backwards through the air and landing on his feet and posing with his arms up like a gymnast.

"How did he dodge that explosion? It was twice as big as he is!" Mathew yelled.

"My dear, didn't anyone ever tell you that cats are liquid?" Carmen replied with a chuckle.

"I've dealt with speedsters before, Whowolf, and large attacks are your weakness!" Demon-litionist said as he flung both of his black paws through the air several times. Several chains of beach ball sized explosions travelled from one end of the roof to the other as directed by the goat.

With a smile the lion form rushed forward, spinning on his heels and dancing around the explosions. He got cocky enough that he stopped and pirouetted in the middle of the roof for the camera before prancing off towards the villain. Stopping for that long let Demon-litionist get a clear view of where he was and where he was going, and the goat took advantage of it. Less than two meters from his target and explosion started right under his foot, scorching his fur and suit and making him face-plant onto the concrete. Demon-litionist started laughing, but the lion thought fast. He flung himself into a handstand and pushed off with a twirl and a yell. He flipped up and over the black fur of the goat's head and extended his claws, catching himself on the villain's back.

"Ah!" Demon-litionist screamed as those razor-sharp claws sunk into his flesh. "You can't run around now, cat, you've sealed your own doom!" The goat started flying upwards, at least 30 meters and grabbing at the cat. Pulling his paws back and grabbing onto the black back of the suit, the lion held on tight and dodged grabs. He couldn't last forever this way, and the goat caught him in less than a minute. Laughing a very good evil laugh, Demon-litionist tossed the lion into the air. Whowolf flipped several times in the air as the goat kept laughing before his form began to change again.

His glorious mane shrunk back and pulled away from his neck and face and it darkened to black and formed a finger high mohawk that started from between his ears and ran down the back of his neck to his suit. His ears thinned and grew points, his fur shifting to an orange-bronze. His face grew longer, stretching in seconds to triple the length of the lion muzzle, fangs visibly retracting and flattening. His hands and feet diminished slightly before lighter fur grew out like a bush and his claws formed thick fingernails. His suit colours changed as quickly as his body, the stripes and question mark darkening to the same bronze colour as his body fur while the main colour of it altered to a light navy blue. His body swelled, every muscle in his body going from the cat's lean physique to thick and corded like a professional body builder as his height shot up from about a meter and a half to three meters. His suit looked stretched thin from the change, making it obvious why he had nothing underneath, it would have torn either the jockstrap and cup or the crotch of the suit. Then he turned back to the still laughing goat mid-air and threw his weight into a punch.

WACK!

The horse's fist collided with Demon-litionist's face and sent them shooting off in opposite directions, the goat hurtling towards the ground and the horse a few meters higher into the air. A second later the villain crashed into the roof, leaving the only crater not caused by explosions. He barely had a moment to open his eyes before the horse landed on his body with the classic superhero 3-point landing. A wheeze was the first thing that came out of the goat's muzzle as the horse stood tall.

"Horse's Might!" Whowolf yelled in triumph with his enormous arms in the air.

"Wow, what a beast! He's even beefier than you are Feral Steel!" Mathew said, eyeing the super.

"Yes, and taller. That guy's built like a grav-train on steroids! Whoever his partner is, they're very lucky. Plus, for someone so green he's got a great superhero landing, and I've not seen it used as an attack to my recollection." Feral Steel smiled while rubbing the fluff of fur at the end of his chin.

"Oh, Feral Steel, is that jealousy I hear in your voice?" Carmen laughed quietly.

"As we say in America, I plead the fifth." He said with a wink.

Demon-litionist rolled to get the horse off him, making Whowolf stumble but find solid footing on the roof, and leapt up. The goat yelled and shoved an open palm right into the horse's face. Whowolf immediately reached up to catch it like a fist. The instant before they hit each other an explosion was set off by the goat, centred between their paws. A cloud of dust and rubble engulfed the pair after the flash, and a second later Demon-litionist was knocked clear of the cloud, landing on his back.

"Not only am I bigger and stronger in this form, I'm more durable too!" Whowolf bragged before charging at the prone villain, the only visible damage being singed fur and a lightly smoking paw.

"Enough!" Demon-litionist roared as he flew into the sky just before the horse would trample him. "You may have the ground, but I have the air!"

The horse skidded to a stop, tearing up a streak of roof as he did. The moment he looked up, the goat began throwing his paws at the roof, causing explosions to pepper the building and making a thick cloud of dust and rubble flood the roof. As the bang and pops covered the roof, the horse leapt into the air barely clearing the height of the smoke.

Whowolf yelled as his body began shifting again and spread his arms out, the yell altering to an echoing roar. All his hair and fur shrank into his body and his skin turned blood red before cracking and hardening to form scales the size of small coins. His ear pulled back and morphed into pure white bone and grew into long horns while smaller ones the size of fingers erupted from his jawline like terrible acne. The horse's flat teeth sharpened to triangles and his broad tongue thinned until it split a decent way into the muzzle like a snake's tongue. At first it looked like a second pair of arms had grown out of his back, possibly tearing his suit as they extended from underneath his short cape, but then the fingers grew longer and longer, dragging with them a thin membrane of red scaly skin until they looked like small wings. Then they expanded rapidly, from the size of his arms to twice as long and finally three times as long as his arms that made their stretched-out size at least six meters from wingtip to wingtip. His body seemed to shrink down to normal proportions as his suit brightened until the base was the same blood red of his scales while the stripes and question mark turned white and took on a white pearlescent hue. If the horse's back muscles had appeared impressive underneath the suit, the dragon's looked divine. While the new body was smaller, it merely looked like most of the muscles had shifted around into the wings.

"A [censored] dragon!? He can turn into a [censored] dragon!?" Mathew yelled and slammed his palms into the table.

"Language, Mathew, we're on television not a MA15+ rated movie. But holy cow, I thought dragons didn't make it over to our universe, how did he get that body?" Carmen said.

"There's a possibility that one of his very distant ancestors was a dragon, I guess, but it could be anything with superpowers." Feral Steel shrugged.

Whowolf flapped his massive wings, pulling himself up into the air. Demon-litionist was stunned for a moment at seeing a dragon for the first time and just hovered in the air. The winged reptile climbed slowly in the air but rapidly rose, gaining speed. With another roar he let out a blast of fire, a pillar of rotating flame that was aimed squarely at Demon-litionist. The goat floated there like a deer in the headlights for a second and was hit with the full force of the blast, sending him flying backwards and smelling burnt fur.

"Dragon's Flight!" Whowolf shouted as he flew above the burnt villain, wings fully extended as he flew in front of the sun.

Demon-litionist righted himself in the air, and apparently got enough of his wits together to fire his explosions at the dragon and flew at him. The dragon rolled and swung around to try and get behind the villain. Demon-litionist was able to turn faster in the air but was just a hair slower than the dragon at flying. This led to a cat and mouse game where Whowolf would fly away straight and fast and turn to attack while the goat would keep his flight path jagged and uneven in speed to throw off his flame breath while attempting to catch the dragon with a well-placed blast. Demon-litionist was first to score the next blow, catching a leathery wing with an explosion and forcing the dragon to fall and then right himself.

"Pause!" Whowolf yelled at the top of his voice. He stabilized himself in the air and tried to fly in place, which looked like a strange bobbing motion as his body and wings moved in opposite directions.

"And our hero is cashing in his first lifeline!" Demon-litionist said as the drone cameras came in closer for greater detail. "Alright Whowolf, which once would you like to use? You've got all three available!"

"I'm going to phone a friend, and I'd like to call my boyfriend Seth. He should be in the audience today, and I want to ask him for advice on beating you." The dragon looked out at the floating stands that held many people.

"Heh, let's get him on the air!" The goat smiled. The classic sound of a telephone ringing echoed throughout the area before a click that meant Seth had answered. One drone camera flew up to a stand where a black and white border collie was standing up with a phone against his ear.

"Ian, you dolt! We talked about this before the show! Save the citizens first! He's trying to distract you and run down the clock, so you don't have time to save them or stop the building from going up in smoke. You've only got fifteen minutes left!" Seth said and waved his paws around for emphasis while his face was twisted in frustration.

"Ah, right, thanks love!" The dragon made a heart with his scaly fingers at the stand where his boyfriend sat.

"Oh-ho, get everything you need there? You've still got thirty seconds left for the call, and he hasn't answered the question you asked!" Demon-litionist crossed his arms.

"Go get them, Ian, you've got this! Love you!" Seth's voice echoed in the battlefield.

"Love you too baby!" Whowolf replied. "Let's start the clock again, I'm ready for you!" He held his fist in front of him.

"Alright then, clock starts in three," The goat held up his fingers as he started to countdown. "Two... One... Go!"

The nanosecond he was allowed to move, he pulled his wings in tight and dove for the roof. He flapped hard after to build up speed, pushing well past his terminal velocity. Demon-litionist was quick to follow but was slowly falling behind. Whowolf did a flip in the air, pulling in his wings and his body changed again, his wings sunk under his cape and his body inflated with their mass. In a second he had gone from red winged dragon to a hulking horse just before he landed. With a massive thud and a perfect superhero landing he left a new crater in the roof, then stood up and kicked down. The centre of the crater broke inwards, revealing a dimly lit interior that only the horse's foot could fit through. Just as the goat started raining more explosions down on him, Whowolf jumped, but oddly did not get any higher in the air. His body shrunk down as a dark brown mane covered his head, and his lithe body slipped into the hole.

He landed on the thinly carpeted floor, eyes already adjusted to the dark, and took off in a sprint. Seconds later one of Demon-litionist's explosions went off right where he had landed, but the cat was already down the hall. Whowolf kept his ears open and scanning each room that he passed, the dummies had speakers in them that would play people screaming for help, but he didn't hear anything yet. He wound his way around and then down the stairs, noting the 'Floor 10' sign as he entered the staircase.

As Whowolf began searching the building, Demon-litionist began searching for him. The goat made explosions on every window he could find and peered into them, with no luck. With a frustrated yell he flew to the middle floor and aimed for the window.

"If I can't find you, then I'll just start tearing this building apart!" The goat raised both of his paws above his head, palms facing each other. A bright red, glowing marble appeared between them and he hurled it towards the glass.

BOOM!

The explosion shook the whole building, making it rain dust. The flash of light and heat melted the glass as it was destroyed, and the whole where it once was exposed the floor above and below it and sunk deep enough into the building that whatever room it had been no longer had a floor. Wherever the hero was, he had to have felt that. The goat lifted his paws again to build up another marble of volatile force. This one was aimed at the window diagonally down from his previous target, and he threw it with a loud yell.

BOOM!

And another massive dent in the concrete structure was formed from where a window once was. The goat didn't have any time to appreciate his work as he heard the crowd roar in applause and a single trumpet played. He turned and looked down, seeing the lion setting a cloth dummy with a holographic head down on a large inflatable mattress marked in yellow and black tape as the rescue zone. He growled and flew down to the cat that was brushing the dust from his suit at super speed.

"One civilian is not enough; you must have three to win! More importantly, I know where you are now!" Demon-litionist smiled and began waving his hands in the air again.

Whowolf ran as fast as his feline legs could go, trying to get back into the building before the bombardment from the villain hit. He didn't make it to the door but was flung into it by the explosions, tumbling for a good two meters before getting his feet back underneath him and running deeper into the building.

"You won't escape me again, Whowolf!" Demon-litionist's voice echoed through the ground floor.

From glancing up at the clock when he saved the first civilian, he knew he only had nine or so minutes left to get the other two out. The problem was he only heard one of them crying out when he was speeding around as a cat. So, as he finished running up the flight of stairs to the second floor his body changed once again to a light grey wolf with mint green hair. He had to blink a few times as his new eyes, nose, and ears flooded his brain with detail. He only stopped a moment and swivelled his ears, searching for the faintest sounds. The sound of Demon-litionist flying through the halls had him nervous, but the whisper of sobbing came from above.

Following his ears' direction, he ran to the next staircase up. He could hear the booms from the goat using his superpowers getting closer, so he pushed himself for more speed. His ears pivoted on the 6th floor before the rest of him did and he ran to the now loud sobbing, how had he missed it earlier? He touched the doorknob right as he heard a shout from the goat announcing that he'd been found. He opened the door and pushed into the room, transforming at the same moment a blast was set off right next to him. He grabbed the standing, crying dummy with red scaled paws, grunting from the pain in his wings, and charged at the window. His shoulder took the force as he hit, and the glass shattered to let him pass.

Out of the corner of his eye he spotted the goat holding out a paw, so he brought one wing to cover himself and the civilian just in time for the shockwave and heat to damage it instead of them. Just as he started to feel gravity pulling him down, he spread his wings out, yelling in pain at the holes now burnt into them being grated on by the wind, and aimed his glide to the safety zone. A glide wouldn't be quick enough though, Demon-litionist was floating in the newly shattered window and was sending more blasts at him. Despite the pain, he flapped hard and rolled trying to evade the incoming fire. One caught his bad wing just before he got to the safe zone and had him spinning until his feet touched the ground. Gently tossing the dummy onto the mattress, he turned around.

"I grow tired of this cat and mouse game," Demon-litionist said as he flew up. "It's time to end this once and for all! Behold your doom!" The goat brought his paws together again but twisted and pulled at the glowing red marble that formed.

Whowolf's eyes went wide, this was what always happened when there was five minutes left, and he had no idea where the last dummy was hidden.

"Pause!" He yelled; smoking wings spread wide.

"Heh," Demon-litionist crossed his arms, the red marble still above his head. "Ready to use another lifeline, Whowolf? You've got 'ask the audience' and 'boon' left, so choose carefully.

"I'll use boon!" The dragon pointed at the goat.

"Very well! Ask your boon of me, it must be something I can do and anything too radical will forfeit your lifeline! Word your wish carefully."

"Tell me where the last civilian is hidden!"

"Hmm, your boon is within reason. You've already got the ones on the 6th and 5th floors, so the last one would be on the 10th floor, hiding in a bathroom stall." A grin cracked across the goat's muzzle. "If it hasn't been hurt too badly by your entrance into the building!" A well-practiced evil laugh echoed all over the area.

"I haven't lost yet Demon-litionist, don't count your dragons before they hatch!" Whowolf yelled.

"Really? Dad jokes in the last five minutes?" Mathew said, leaning his head in his hand.

"I thought it was rather good, actually." Feral Steel chuckled. "I might use that sometime if the opportunity arises."

"You've had better comebacks than that, Feral Steel. Back me up here Carmen." Mathew nodded to the tigress.

"I am of the opinion that a bad joke opens up your opponent to being struck while they groan, you'd be surprised how often it works for me." Carmen said as she winked at Mathew.

"Well then," Demon-litionist said. "Start the clock in three... two... one... go!"

Unable to fly with his wings as damaged as they were, he shifted back into a lion and ran at his top speed. He was surprised that the goat merely went back to charging his explosion rather than charge and stop his progress. He was halfway up the first flight of stairs when he understood why. The floor was shaking under his feet, dust falling off the walls and ceiling like water, and several loud cracks could be heard. Every time it shook, he had to prop himself up against the wall to keep from falling over as he ran up the stairs, and the cracking grew louder and more frequent. He pushed his lion form to its limits and was panting at the top of the tenth-floor stairs in under a few minutes.

He transformed into his horse form, catching his breath as his body sturdied itself and grew, muscles no longer burning from use. He ducked under the doorway to the hallways beyond but still managed to hit his head on the frame, luckily that didn't even phase him. While his vision wasn't the best in the dark while as a horse, most of the signage was painted with a glow in the dark pigment. He used that to navigate to the nearest bathroom, which was a pile of rubble.

He pulled the piles of stone, metal, and plastic aside with his massive arms, hoping that he'd find the dummy. The building shook again, making a pile of debris fall on a newly cleared spot. Grunting and slamming his fists on the floor, he ran out of the room to the other side of the building. Other signs directed him to yet another bathroom, this one not as destroyed but from the way the roof was sagging by half a meter in the middle, it would be here for much longer.

He threw open stall doors as he ran, then skid to a halt as a fake civilian, that was propped up on a toilet, was in the second to last stall. He grabbed it and cradled it in one arm. His other arm pulled back and punched the wall. It busted out, opening to the wrong side of the building, his goal was on the other side. With only a moment to decide between running out the other side of the building or jumping out and going around, the whole structure shook again. Decision made, he jumped.

He hit the ground feet first, tucked his knees, and rolled onto his shoulder to dissipate the force of a ten-story fall. The civilian dummies could detect life threatening damage after all. Giving it a once over for said damage, he threw it over his shoulder for a fireman carry. His body shrunk down again into a lion as he ran around the now collapsing structure while the goat cackled madly above it. The clock had 5 seconds left as he turned the last corner, the audience now counting down.

"Four!"

Demon-litionist spotted the cat as he ran to the inflatable mattress and flew straight down at him, paws flailing wildly.

"Three!"

Whowolf was forced to dodge and weave around the flashes of fire, losing precious time.

"Two!"

The disintegrating building belched out a cloud of glass, metal, and stone.

"One!"

Whowolf felt the heat of an explosion on his back as he set the civilian down in the safety zone by centimetres.

"Zero!"

Air horns blared as the audience cheered, confetti starting to gently rain down on Whowolf. He jumped and yelled, transforming back into a wolf and then howling. A few people in the audience joined in his howl. Demon-litionist floated down, doing a slow clap, and Whowolf instinctively spun around and raised his fists.

"Well done, I thought you wouldn't make it, but you pulled through in the last second. Hah! Apparently good cliches die hard." The goat turned as the floating table where the three judges sat, set down on the asphalt. "Judges! Our contestant has just saved all three civilians but failed to stop the building from being destroyed. It's your choice whether he goes on to the next round or heads home now, so let's hear your thoughts on his performance!"

"If I might start us off," Carmen said, feral Steel and Mathew Kelvin nodded. "You only used two of your lifelines and were able to go toe to toe with Demon-litionist for half a round, even if you don't move on to the next round you should walk away proud." Whowolf bowed at her while smiling. "Your power is very flexible, and you used each form quite wisely for every situation you encountered, however one thing I noticed was that you never had to use your powers creatively. It seems like you've only been practicing your fundamental techniques and haven't done anything advanced yet, with the exception of how quickly you can shift from form to form. If you do proceed, I'd like to see more creative thinking from you. All of that said, I think you've done wonderfully."

Whowolf clapped along with the audience while nodding, biting his lower lip in thought.

"Can I just say we didn't see nearly enough dragon out there!" Mathew said, gesturing with his hands. "It is freaking awesome that you can turn into one and I'd love to see more of what he can do! Normally I'd take a few points off for not securing the civilians sooner but your last second save shows just how dedicated you are to being a superhero, even if you're a cliche one. I also thought your fighting skills could use some work. While you could keep up with Demon-litionist and even get an advantage on him, you didn't press that advantage hard enough and he was able to keep the upper hand for the majority of the round. You had several seconds when you stunned him by turning into a freaking dragon to gain dominance in the round, but you just didn't take full advantage of it. The last thing I'll say, is I think you've got great potential to do amazing things and I hope to see what the future holds for you!"

Grinning and placing his paws on his hips, Whowolf transformed into a dragon again, wings pushing out wide as his fur sunk into his features. The crowd cheered louder as Mathew hollered and clapped.

"I like your style kid; your superhero landing is very good, and I think I might be the only judge that likes your dad jokes." Feral Steel said as he shrugged and smiled, Mathew rolled his eyes while Carmen laughed under her breath. "I can see you going pretty far in the business, but you're very untrained and inexperienced right now. You got hurt pretty bad, I can still see the holes in your wings healing and getting civilians out of the way of a fight is always step one. I think you should come back in a few years when you're stronger and smarter, because then I think even I might have trouble beating you."

The flying drone cameras showed some of the audience reacting by mouthing 'that's a little harsh' while others nodded.

"Alright, we've heard from all of our judges, all that's left is for them to vote!" Demon-litionist scooted around Whowolf's large wings to put an arm around his shoulder. "Are you ready judges? Show us your votes!"

Mathew held up a square of paper that had 'Day Saved' written on it in green ink. Whowolf yelled and pumped his fist in the air while the audience cheered.

Carmen looked left and right at her fellow judges before showing her square, displaying 'Day Saved'. Whowolf jumped and danced, two votes meant he was going to the next round.

Feral Steel showed his square that said 'Day Lost' in red text, but that didn't stop the cheering of the crowd or Whowolf's victory dance.

"Alright, so not only does Whowolf here get to move on to the next stage of our competition but he's won himself a brand-new car! A new Toyota Prius Infinity, now sporting a 96 percent fuel efficiency engine that provides all the comfort and luxuries of a 31st century vehicle!" Demon-litionist said as the cameras circled.

A black and white border collie ran across the parking lot and leapt at the dragon. Whowolf caught his boyfriend as he shifted back into a wolf, their muzzles locking into a French kiss while they spun. The ending credits started to roll up the screen as the goat kept talking.

"And that's our show folks! Tune in next week as another superhero-hopeful tries to stop me from taking over the world!"
