This is just a little idea I kicked around during some writing days during sometime of watching a bit of the nightmare on the elm street series. In short it's a tale of dark family relations and a cursed evil that comes to life and begins a killing spree, but..well, check it out if you wish and give me honest thoughts if you desire if you think there could be something to it. This tale is called: Night's The Hardest.

Night's The Hardest

I

Wolfgang Manchester held out the flashlight and fixed a hard stare at the young female coyote. "Listen, I am entrusting that despite being new that everything will flesh out just fine for this museum. Keep an eye on things well and make sure no problems arise? If I return early next morning to find that something has been stolen not only will I be on your cute little keister, but the museum curator as well. Nothing and I mean nothing cannot be missing. Understood?"

"You've been training me night after night under your wing. All will be well, trust me."

Wolfgang breathed in and exhaled. "Fran, I just don't want you in trouble. I may be your uncle, but I cannot continue to get you out of jams. I helped with your college tuition some, got you an apartment when my brother kicked you out of the house, a fairly good car so you could get around, but no more, I've done too much. This job will be the last I help you with. If you get fired, your on your own. I don't have money to burn on you for the rest of my life."

"Don't worry, all will go well," she took the flashlight and smiled. "I'll make you proud."

He breathed in and exhaled. Wolfgang started to head to the door for the security guard room, but stopped. "Carter, please keep your eyes on the monitors and her, huh?"

A young lion stopped reading his Gentle Male Fur Magazine to his boss. "I got ya, boss."

Wolfgang opened the door and closed it. Fran exhaled and felt the strong after vibe of seriousness that had filled the room from her uncle. She put her flashlight in her flashlight holster and let out a yawn. Fran walked to the security guard door, opened it, and exited to start her shift.

II

Fran stood in the dark middle of the entrance hall. She looked up through the non-breakable glass window to stare for just a moment at the stars and the beautiful, radiating full moon. It made her heart melt to see the the sparkles of the skies twinkle one by one. The moon casting it's light on her and the museum's display pieces in the entrance hall made her giggle like a child. She had never been afraid of the dark growing up, more, she loved it. For some reason, being in the full daylight gave more fear. Then again, she hadn't run into the trouble in her home city. Still, it didn't turn away the thought of how beautiful it was to be out during the great night.

"Hey, Fran, you there?" Carter inquired via Fran's walkie-talkie. "Fran, you there?"

Fran got her walkie-talkie from her belt. "What's up Carter? Something a bit off?"

"Yeah, I've noticed some movement in the newest exhibit that came to town."

"You mean the one on Prince Meshka Krishmyer?"

"Yeah, looks like there's a fox setting to try and steal the talisman."

"Alright, I'm on my way. Call the police and I'll keep our little visitor busy."

Fran put her walkie-talkie back and sprinted for the exhibit that was northwest of her in the entrance hall. When she made it into the exhibit there the fox was getting to work. He was pre-occupied. He lost in the beauty of his goal, to steal the exhibits treasure. Fran started to run, but one floor tile squeak made the fox turn. He grinned, grabbed the mannequin that went with the talisman, and tossed it at Fran. She caught the piece but found herself pinned. Fran watched the fox take the talisman and run past her. She swore while she moved the mannequin off her body. Up onto her feet and onto the thief. Fran needed to stop the fox from escaping. He was a foot away. Fran got an idea. She took her flashlight, chucked it and knocked the thief to the floor.

III

"Are the cops on their way?" Fran inquired. "It's been over an hour."

Carter stared at the fox he and Fran had tied up in the. "Well, Fran, I tried to, but for some reason I couldn't get through. Then again, I know why I couldn't, and won't be able to tonight."

"What's the reason?"

Carter reached into his pocket, pulled out his cellphone, and flipped it open. "See the red triangle with the exclamation point in the middle."

"No, I just looked out, and..."

"Weather can change, young miss, but..." said a small voice. Carter and Fran looked at the fox who had a smile on his face. "You've gone doomed yourselves, miss, but then again, that's ok, death isn't too bad from what I've heard. It's the after life that's the worse. But I won't die by the dumb fate you've thrusted upon yourselves."

Fran raised an eyebrow. "What are you..."

Fran and Carter both watched the fox close his mouth. The thief moved his mouth around and swallowed. He let out a sigh. For a moment Fran and Carter stared in confusion with a hint of a cold sweat starting from their foreheads. The fox broke into a fit of tears, laughing. He began to foam, hiccup, and cough up blood. The thief convulsed violently, fell to the floor, his listed horror effects intensifying. In one last second he stopped moving. He laid dead in his own mess he made. It was clear that this fox had did the unthinkable. This thief had committed suicide, but the reason was unclear. His words before his death left the pair confused. One thing was clear though. A great mystery had been thrusted upon the pair. Only, first thing they had to do was have one of them go, and check out the circuit breaker. The winner for this job, was new blood.

IV

Fran closed the circuit box, flipped the switch, and looked up at the see the light in the basement come on. "Yes, it's all good now," she said. With a yawn and a stretch to the walkie-talkie for reporting came next. "Carter, the powers back down here. I'll be up soon, but in the meantime, call the cops, ok?"

Fran waited for hear back, but didn't get nothing. She shrugged her shoulders thinking that Carter must already be on the job of calling the police. Fran walked away from circuit breaker and began to head for the basement door. She stopped out of a strong horrible vibe. An air, horrible sensation had just grabbed hold of her. A feeling told her to take off for the security room at once, and off she went.

When she came to the security room, the door was wide open. Laying down, in the doorway, in a pool of his blood, with his head missing from his body, was her co-worker, Carter. Fran screamed and turned away sniffling. She was baffled at the scene that was now and forever burned into her head. Something caught Fran's eyes. A trail of bloody footprints that lead into the exhibit for Prince Meshka Krishmyer.

Slowly Fran followed them and what she found made her scream even louder than before. Standing before her was the mannequin of Prince Meshka Krishmyer. He held in one hand a bloody calvary sword from another exhibit. In the other hand was Carter's head.

"Hello, Fran," said Prince Meshka Krishmyer. "It's amazing to meet someone like you."

"H-how d-do y-you k-know my name? H-how are you alive?"

"Ah, let's leave the questions to the side and rejoice, for I'm blessed to see you."

Fran took off running. To head back to the basement to hide. Wake up from this hell.

V

"Wake up, Fran! Wake up!" Fran felt a strong slap to her face. She looked up and saw an angry uncle fixed with blood hungry eyes. "What the hell is wrong with you?"

Fran slowly stood up and saw the police and museum curator. "What's going on? Why are you all down here?"

"We'd like to ask the same thing. Why did you do it? Why did you not only steal the talisman, but butcher Carter and kill that fox?"

Fran recalled all that happen. "No, I didn't kill them. Well, not the fox, he committed suicide. Told us we doomed ourselves and then when I came back from the basement for fixing I found that the mannequin for Prince Meshka Krishmyer had brutally killed Carter."

The police scratched their heads. "Um, miss, have you been drinking, or doing drugs?"

"No, I haven't! What's wrong with my story? I'm telling the truth!"

"Right, but, there's no mannequin. All that's in the things place is a note for you."

Fran raised an eyebrow. "A note? I don't understand. Where's this note?"

One of the officer's reached behind his back and pulled out an evidence bag. Fran took it slowly and examined the note that read:

Dear Fran,

First, I have to apologize for scaring you. It was very unkind of me to do. You are after all my blood relative. The great awakener of someone who has been trapped in a wretched body. I do hope that you do not suffer horribly for me. I shall put in a great word for you when I can.

-Prince Meshka Krishmyer.

Fran froze. No, she thought to herself. I didn't mean to. Tell them. Come, Prince.
